I took ten followers to Solstiem at an early level and only I, a dark elf, and Jenassa survived. (Even when I died she kept going.) Being a Dunmer is the true secret here.
It's actually a really fun workaround to quietly providing Dark Elves a massive advantage in their native Ashlands region. Building most of those early Solstheim enemies as fire based, played well into the already existing passive bonus that Dark Elves had in the original Skyrim release
@@lordedmundblackadder9321 No she isn't. On 360 she got absolutely WRECKED by a giant on one of my saves. I reloaded right after and decided to go around the giant camp instead
Let's be honest, 'stealth archer' is the play style for almost every situation in Skyrim. When I'm roleplaying in game, I have to actively correct myself sometimes from slowly becoming one each time, because it's so darn effective.
I love solsthiem so much! My husband introduced me to Skyrim three years ago, and I was as hooked! He thought it was hilarious that I was entirely uninterested in following the main quest, and spent several real world months exploring solsthiem. I thought it was the most fascinating region Skyrim had to offer and I didn’t want to leave! Skyrim was the first video game I played in my whole life (age 22 😅) and will always be special to me ❤
You might like Morrowind then. Once you get past its badly dated gameplay, it’s got great world building and good writing. Neloth and his quests are a good representation of Morrowind’s tone and atmosphere.
Legendary difficulty be like: the hero of Skyrim, the Last Dragonborn, peerless master of Destruction magic cast Sparks, 1 damage. Random el bandito casts Sparks, 50 damage.

@@hutki_shiraSame. I like challenge but I don't like the nonsense multiplication of damage approach to challenge. I prefer mods, SPID to give los banditos more assets, AI improvements, outright rebalancing to either make enemies stronger, scale better or make combat overall deadlier etc.

Usually around lvl 45-50 I’ll consider going up to legendary to keep combat interesting. If you have the right perks and gear the game is pretty easy at lvl 45 on anything below master
Ideally I want the average early game bandit as strong as the average early game player, with the difference just being in equipment and player skill. And for that sort of comparison to scale into the rest of the game.
Idk man, I'm on my first playthrough and the game was so easy mid way through I switched to legendary. Maybe it's the orc rage + all the other strength/defense based powers I have
I did the same permadeath challenge and found out there is a random chance when taking the lift to top of mushroom Kingdom that Neloth will nail you with a lightning spell that kills you before he can apologize to your corpse. That was the end of my last run
I'm glad I caught some of these streams and watched all of these VODs. We all went through Turkey Stick's journey together and the trauma bonding when he tragically passed was intense. This run inspired me to do a Legendary Survival No-Crime run and I'll never be the same. This is definitely the best video you've ever done.
It's been a couple months since this run ended, but watching it back the feeling of disappointment hit like a truck again. Turkey Stick 2 will not fail. We train Heavy Armor, patiently clear our objectives. Easy win.
With Joov calling the Skaal Villlage "Santa's Village", I wonder if he ever found the real Santa cave, Frossel. It's located up near the northeast corner of the map.
I hate to mention this, but you could just use necromancy on a bandit body after removing all items from the body, then just beat him until he starts attacking you to increase armour levels
The energy of this and the most recent Point Lookout video have felt like a great bump in both energy and quality. Not to say your prior work wasn't also excellent, but these most recent 2 really feel a step above from the editing and enjoyment aspect!

Solstheim. A difficult location to stay permanently on, but it is a beautiful location everywhere you go. Thank you for doing this, this is the best location in all of Elder Scrolls, and seeing you survive on the island. Especially when you kept being sent to the different stones every time you slept.
I made a ridiculously busted enchanter region locked to solstheim Got really fantastic speech and smithing, in addition to maxed out enchanting. Hunted around the island for east empire pendants to give to the general merchant in exchange for grand soul gems for big projects, or petty soul gems for putting waterbreathing on random jewelry and selling at a huge profit. Eventually kitted the guy out in some really powerful light armor/daggers, and unleashed him into the rest of the game at level 60. I think this was in Oldrim as well, a cd copy I bought for my laptop about ten years ago. Ah memories
Wow that got me really emotionally invested. I can't wait to see Turkey Stick Jr on his adventure to avenge his father by retracing his footsteps more efficiently
Watching you suffer through the hell that is Solstheim at low levels made me feel brave enough to survive in my favorite area in Skyrim. Was so hyped for this for a long time, it's so great to see you get this far!
I kid you not, I literally just subscribed and turned on notifications after watching the last Solstheim video hoping for another one, and not 30 minutes later you upload this. You are a freaking wizard.
I am beginning to think that Meridia's Beacon is not a random spawn, but actually spawns in the first chest you search that has the ability to contain it. Every time I go to the giant camp near whiterun, it's in that chest, so either I get really lucky(?), or it's not random.
Technically it is a radiant spawn, and it only spawns in once you hit the level requirement for the quest. However meridias beacon is notorious for just interrupting lmao
You should consider illusion magic for such challenges - it's really strong for survival and dealing with multiple enemies, imo the best magic school on higher difficulties without abusing the boring and broken crafting system / exploits. @@thebigyes8482 I don't know which is more efficient, but I grind illusion on a horker with calm because the spell is actually useful outside levelling

The Nino Kuni music during Bear Grylls run was perfect, and if I’m right and that’s the same music that plays when you get stuck on an island then that is some serious attention to detail on your part! Very impressive, and I hope your next run goes better now that you know what to look out for
I was genuinely upset when turkey stick passed. So many things raced through my mind as I tried to process what happened, but was left speechless. It happened so fast!! Watching Joov delete the saves hurt my heart, but it was the right thing to do. R.I.P. Turkey Stick, gone but not forgotten. Keep being you Joov, your personality and energy are enough to have gotten me to become emotionally invested in a video game character so very deeply and I love that. Here’s to the future!

another thing that makes thebound bow great is the arrows shimmer and leave a nice highly visible arc so you can correct your aim more accurate for the next shot and it lets you study arrow trajectories easier to become generally better at it.
I really enjoyed the Solstheim VODS and watched the entire series at least twice. It was really fun to watch you survive, chop wood, fish endlessly and running back from shrines that you were teleported to. Idk how to really write it, but I could tell that you enjoyed the challenge and that made it even more entertaining I guess. So when the notification finally popped up that you uploaded I got really excited! I was really upset when Turkey Stick died, but his legacy will live on! The video is great as always, and I can't wait for the next one!
I was not expecting all the Waterflame music, wow. As someone who used to talk to and listen to him back when he was just on Newgrounds, before even his Castle Crashers deal, this was a blast from the past!
One of the options on the mod 'Live Another Life' drops you on Solstheim at Level 1 with nothing. I found this out the hard way one playthrough. It even drops you at the opposite side of the island from the boat back to Skyrim, but the dock location isn't discovered so you can't fast-travel - a lot like the way you're playing this challenge (aside from the survival and permadeath elements.)
Sad that you killed the rieklings, i love their ability to randomly spawn to help you. I was in the Vale once and suddenly a bunch of them spawned to help fight the cyclops.
YES THE SOLSTHEIM AT LEVEL 1 CHALLENGE IS FINALLY BACK BUT BETTER WOOOOOO. Also your production has improved like CRAZY Joov wow idk what u did but PROPS man
Can you play Skyrim without leaving Skyrim? I mean you can’t leave the open world. That’s mean no caves, no sites and no homes. How many quests you can complete playing like that?
i loved solstheim so much when i was playing skyrim. morrowind is forever my number 1 game (together with gothic 1&2 and oblivion),so nostalgia was strong.
I tried a much easier version of this challenge one time many years ago, where I tried to roleplay as someone who just came to Solstheim with nothing to their name, and it was so. So. Hard. And long. And insanely boring. So I’m excited to see how you deal with this challenge!
I'd love a region lock to anywhere but civilization! I.e: no crossing roads, going into towns, using carriages. You'd have to live in the forest like a hermit or a sasquatch, only surviving off what you find and hunt/gather
Without the permadeath restriction, this could honestly be a really fun way to tackle a dlc area in any game. The Dark Arisen section of Dragon's Dogma comes to mind, it's rough but there are tricks and enough weak-ish dudes around to maybe get you started.
First video of yours that I’ve seen.. great editing and commentary. Cool challenge to undertake too. I especially like the way you chose your character’s name. You are a great entertainer, editor, director and producer! I am a subscriber now. I look forward to seeing another run thru..
I'm so glad you did this when you did! I just started my 89837434th playthrough and was looking for a challenge, so I started the Alternate Start 'dunmer refugee on solstheim' option. I did the same grind of chopping wood, smithing, making potions, and had a nice time just kind of...being an NPC and roleplaying getting to know the villagers and staying at the inn and such? I eventually gave up and went to the mainland because it got to the point where it was more challenging than fun, and besides a lot of the good stuff on Solstheim doesn't start until you do stuff on the mainland. Now my dark elf girl has a modest house in the gray quarter (thanks mods) and is amassing power to return to her beast to be slain, the island of Solstheim.
Absolutely disrespectful, how Dwayne keeps dissapearing almost immediately if Joov gets finishing kill, but when Dwayne gets a kill, he stands there for longer😂
Skyrim fishing is a fun distraction from questing and exploring. The quest line leading to the "raid boss" was great. The quest line for the house final fight chain was harder than Miraak.
I may not be a huge Skyrim fan, but the Solstheim DLC was awesome. As an avid Morrowind fan, I loved the throwbacks. They included familiar locations, factions, characters, music, creatures... It was just great. I know it isn't your go-to game, but I would love to see you attempt a similar challenge in Morrowind, being stuck on Solstheim. It would be amazing.
if you ever do this again, you have to do the riekling quest, when they asked you to follow you, it makes 1-3 of them just suddenly help you in any dungeon you go into, and try getting the dwarven spider from kagrumez, they aren't that helpful of a follower, so it wouldn't be as bad as teldryn, and it has an adorable walk cycle. I'd also recommend doing the main quest up until the cultists attack you so you can try to fight miraak and have a win condition to make sleeping not teleport you. Edit: or get the dragons from the start mod, dragons should be a pressing threat. i know it was unavoidable here, but i hate it when people wait until level 30 to let dragons spawn.
There is a room in Ralis quest where a Draugr with a bow is in an elevated platform and can only attack you via arrows. I used it to farm both block and heavy armor in one of my playthroughs. It's risky, though.
Accidentally did something similar. Took the Another Life mod that shipwrecked me off the west coast of Solstheim. Was quite the grind, and I rage quit because I spawned right in the middle of 3 werewolves
Joov! You can bucket through a door in Delvin Mallory’s basement to get fantastic thieve’s guild loot. It’s easier with whirlwind sprint but absolutely possible without it. Delvin spends nights at the pub so sneaking in is totally safe and absolutely worth it
Did anyone else do these kinda challenges casually because they were playing too much unmodded Skyrim and decided to do stuff like this to keep it exciting? These videos are nostalgic for me tbh :3
I dunno how you do it, but i have a constant smile while watching your videos. This was one of the most intense runs of Skyrim that i have watched and i felt all your jumps, hear racing moments and your joyos victories. You are a top tier content creator and your charisma is unbound. It is a shame that you made such a noob mistake at the end. NEVER forget about the archer that is quietly waiting for you to step into his line of sight. But in a way it was poetic because you exploited the tank - archer tactic the entire playthrough and you were ended by the same tactic when a boss used it against you. Truly ironic :)
A Breton might also do well at this. Fire damage gets reduced by Fire resist first, then Magic resist. Level up Alteration for its Magic resist bonuses, stack them on the Breton starting bonus, and get those Fire resist items. 50% resist in both, and you're only taking 25% fire damage. Get both to 80%, and you're down to 4% (20% of 20%). Then you really only have to worry about physical.
what are the names of the song that starts at 16:16 and 22:57? i remember that i heard them a long time ago, while i was playing a very famous (i think it was very famous, at least at the time) flash game, but i dont remember the name of the games, or the name of the songs. please help me out to answer these questions
have you considered doing a region locked challenge in the forgotten vale (in skyrim)? it has just enough content to be interesting, might be good for a shorter video though I'm not sure if it would cause any issues with quests, since you're supposed to be there with serana to confront a snow elf
A tip, that I used a lot, there’s an elven sword, elven bow, and a full set of bone mold armor, right outside of town, heading towards tel mythren, only possible downside to it is that there are 3 ash spawn but their busy attacking the guard captain.
I do like that you admit to losing the challenge, most streamers I see start changing the rules to win and then declare themselves to have conquered it. Well done.
Your best videos are when you have a very hard challenge like this, the humor is great and necessary but pairing it with something like this or the glowing sea video is 10/10
would love to see something like this for the siera madre, or big mountain. this, and other videos where you build a narrative from the game's jank, is the amazing content i love your channel for.
This has got to be one of the most entertaining Skyrim videos I've ever watched. I was so invested and zone into it, lol. Great job, man. I'm so glad I found your channel!
this is such an interesting way to play the game, it makes it feel more like a survival/progression game like don't starve, specially with the freddy krueger-esque dreams and the fear of dying because you slept. Skyrim could have really used different beginnings for different classes and races to spice the gameplay
I know you posted this video a while ago but I keep coming back to it for a good laugh, this challenge looks like a nightmare but you made it very entertaining and it makes me wish I could pop in for your livestreams if my work didn't keep me from bad timing.
Next time not sure if you did but playing as a Breton and leveling Alteration will increase your Magic Resist then add gear with magic resist and fire resist. With the cap of 85% in both Magic resist and resist to fire/shock/frost you'll have 97.75% resist.

The Castle Crashers montage music was a nice touch 😂
First video of yours that I’ve seen.. great editing and commentary. Cool challenge to undertake too. I especially like the way you chose your character’s name. You are a great entertainer, editor, director and producer! I am a subscriber now. I look forward to seeing another run thru..
Thanks for watching! Welcome!
I think this is one of your best region locks yet! Makes me wanna challenge myself with a region lock just for the fun of it
Absolutely disrespectful, how Dwayne keeps dissapearing almost immediately if Joov gets finishing kill, but when Dwayne gets a kill, he stands there for longer😂
I feel like I say this with every one of your videos, but this is absolutely the best vid you've yet released and I'm so excited for the next one
Skyrim fishing is a fun distraction from questing and exploring.
The quest line leading to the "raid boss" was great.
The quest line for the house final fight chain was harder than Miraak.
I watched all the VODs already but man this was perfect. Your editing and humor is just chefs kiss. Keep being you Joov! ❤
I love the definitely-not-a-stealth-archer build. Always a fun time.
It's so Nice seeing our boy joov finally getting famous It makes me really happy
It would be amazing.
new Joov video just in time for lunch, it's like you read my mind
little tip : in the blacksmith house you can clip through the door at the bottom with a wooden plate to get awesome equipment really early !
"Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer."
-The Ancestor
Its worth siding with the reiklings they will make you their cheif and 2 will come to your aid in some fights
24:47 that goblin scaring you is the best part 😂
if you ever do this again, you have to do the riekling quest, when they asked you to follow you, it makes 1-3 of them just suddenly help you in any dungeon you go into, and try getting the dwarven spider from kagrumez, they aren't that helpful of a follower, so it wouldn't be as bad as teldryn, and it has an adorable walk cycle.
10:31 DEEP ROCK GALACTIC MUSIC IN THE BACKROUND!!! ROCK AND STONE!!
16:26 also castle crashers ost right here. I love your taste in background music Joov.
Delvin spends nights at the pub so sneaking in is totally safe and absolutely worth it
really enjoyed this, second time watching it. would defos like another
I do still plan on running this again. One more time for all the marbles
CANT WAIT!!!! YOUVE GOT THIS!!!@@Joov
3:46 That was the best Hank Hill screwm I've ever heard and I'm sure that wasn't even on purpose.
Love your videos. What microphone do you use out of interest? Your voice always sounds so much clearer and higher-quality than other UA-camrs
I'm proud of you for taking on this challenge, it makes the videos more interesting and tense.
Did you guys know that this is the hardest challenge joov has ever done
3:50 "IM IN ANOTHER ZIP-CODE!" Funny as
Another banger coming straight from the man himself 😮
b
I love Joov's chat They're always so nice to each other even comments are nice. Also best streamer to catch
Have you ever tried marrying everyone in skyrim?
A Breton might also do well at this. Fire damage gets reduced by Fire resist first, then Magic resist. Level up Alteration for its Magic resist bonuses, stack them on the Breton starting bonus, and get those Fire resist items. 50% resist in both, and you're only taking 25% fire damage. Get both to 80%, and you're down to 4% (20% of 20%). Then you really only have to worry about physical.
what are the names of the song that starts at 16:16 and 22:57? i remember that i heard them a long time ago, while i was playing a very famous (i think it was very famous, at least at the time) flash game, but i dont remember the name of the games, or the name of the songs. please help me out to answer these questions
first one mentioned is music from castle crashers
please keep making skyrim videos like these. genuinely cannot get enough of them
have you considered doing a region locked challenge in the forgotten vale (in skyrim)?
it has just enough content to be interesting, might be good for a shorter video
though I'm not sure if it would cause any issues with quests, since you're supposed to be there with serana to confront a snow elf
A tip, that I used a lot, there’s an elven sword, elven bow, and a full set of bone mold armor, right outside of town, heading towards tel mythren, only possible downside to it is that there are 3 ash spawn but their busy attacking the guard captain.
Joov: bouncing arrows off Regice's face
Also joov: "WHOA HEY DON'T ATTACK ME"
Genuinely excellent video
I absolutely love your use of kotor cantina music and ni no kuni music in your videos
I do like that you admit to losing the challenge, most streamers I see start changing the rules to win and then declare themselves to have conquered it. Well done.
Your best videos are when you have a very hard challenge like this, the humor is great and necessary but pairing it with something like this or the glowing sea video is 10/10
You can get a rekiling pet if you side with them and you can get dwemer pets like a sphere if you collect the unique crystals.
It's crazy how survival mode turns this DLC into an absolute nightmare. Basically fall asleep and roll the dice as to where you get to wake up.
3:49 "IM IN ANOTHER ZIP CODE"
Is gonna be phrase i use for gaming alot now
would love to see something like this for the siera madre, or big mountain. this, and other videos where you build a narrative from the game's jank, is the amazing content i love your channel for.
Your Solstheim region lock videos are my favorite, apart from the Fallout 4 landmines only series, which had some incredible moments.
This is perhaps my favorite of your videos, its longer, it just has that old Joov charm that made us fall in love, keep up the phantastic wok!
I just love it when youtube gives me notifications for a person I've never watched, but not you, when I watch every single one of your videos.
Can i just say I love the choice of music, great throwback to castle crashers
