Fina is Velka, which makes the FAP ring the most legendary ring in the series. Fina is also the queen of the gods, as you see statues of her embracing baby Faraam, Gwynevere and Gwyndolin. Fina has the same initial as Faraam and Filianore, and both of them have black hair, just like the black haired Velka. Lautrec also wields a shotel, which is a crescent blade, like the shape of the Dark Moon, as does Priscilla which her crescent shaped scythe. There's only one other location where you can get a scythe in DS1 and that's the Catacombs, which is also where the Way of White followers mainly go, with Velka being the Way of White's patron. Hmm.... a duplicitous fickle god that has fateful beauty. Sounds like all the men in her life meet their end through her. She really is the power behind the curtain, and possibly the first fire keeper who saw the end of the age of fire, like an oracle would see an omen.
Oh this is great! To add some details, King Jeremiah is found in the Painted World which is where Velka's influence is seen greatest. And as Hawkshaw theorized, if Fina had affection for Jeremiah and Velka is Fina then that just adds another layer to the story. Also, another point to consider Fina/Velka as Gwyn's wife is the symbolic significance of the colors and natures involved. "Gwyn" means "White" in Welsh and Velka/Fina has black hair and these can be attributed to their respective natures of Light and Dark. This is significant because the Occult in the real world has a principle where an end goal is a union of opposites. Which is what the Occult stat is in Dark Souls where a mundane weapon is ascended by a Divine (White) Ember and then the Dark (Black) Ember into an Occult (union of Light and Dark) weapon. Then consider how this would be significant when applied to the union of Gwyn and Fina/Velka. Gwyn would have chosen her as his wife for this very particular reason but Fina being who she is, the Goddess of Sin, Favor, and Protection, could not stay with him when he committed the First Sin of Dark Souls.
My suspicion would be for them being not only the same, but simply different aspects of the same goddess. One, most likely Fina, being her first form, who married Gwyn, had a few babies, granting Favor and Protection to her followers. After the First Sin of Gwyn, she decided to take her second role and walk away, turning into Velka, the goddess of Sin. This would tie into her previous followers not ceasing to support her, even after her disappearance, as it would take away the power of the rings she bestowed on them. Additionally, the most devoted eventually found out Velka was previously Fina and stayed in the Painted World she used to hide all that was associated with her. Also, perhaps it was mentioned or not, but Way of Light, supported by Velka, did not really praise Gwyn all that much. I think i heard it in some video (perhaps even Hawkshaws). This further fortifies the notion that Velka was not supporting Gwyn (perhaps even working against him) and the reason behind that we already know.
The Ring of Favor and Protection is for dedicated followers of the goddess, therefore there are multiple rings. If an individual dies with it, it won't break, but if that individual willingly remove it, it will break.
Patches actually sells exactly two shotels at the Cathedral of the Deep, which was Lautrec's weapon of choice. Interesting that he specifically sells 2, instead of infinite or just one. hell yeah, hype. tbh i just found your channel recently, and since i haven't played elden ring yet, i'm most interested in these dark souls vids, so i'm really glad you're still putting these out
I'm sure that this isn't what was intended for the Favor and Protection ring, but the "flower" on it's front reminds me of a flower called "Paris Quadrifolia" in latin. But what is interesting about it is that in English it can be called the *"True Lover's Knot".* Yes, most times it has four leaves in opposing pairs, but it can have three - and those are probably considered unique. The thing is - it looks pretty, has fruit that looks like other eatable fruit, and yes, it's highly poisonous. In other words, what better flower is there for Fina?

Havel ring boosts your equip rate by 50%, but fap ring boosts equip rate and then health and Stamina by 20% so if you look at it in total and how much leveling you'd need to do to get the same results havel's ring doesn't give as much. I will shout out Cloranthy ring rq, but it has to go to RoFP.
Really, the Chloranthy belongs among them. The only knock against it, is that it's effect comes in the form of a shield you can tape to your back as well. It has, in many ways, a comparable effect to Havel's and Favor, being a bunch of free levels. Unlike the other two, where you can kinda quantify how many levels they give you, Chloranthy basically gives you an arbitrary amount of Stamina, especially if you learn to delay hits a bit. I can see the reasons it's on a level below the other three, but. Ngl. I wouldn't hesitate to take Favor off for Chloranthy if I needed it, while I would sit and think and probably come up with some other way to do it if I was looking at taking Favor off for Havel's
You're better off just using green blossoms since not only are they straight up better at +40/sec compared to the ring's 20 but they don't use a ring slot so you can use something actually good since DS1 rings are absurdly good especially in the context of the rest of the series
@@axis8396 But then I have to assign other items to the bar without a specific purpose and think about it, and risk forgetting I'm on a timer in the moment. Green blossoms don't eliminate stamina management, they just address it another way, trading stamina management for item management. Chloranthy just says "you don't need to manage Stamina anymore"
I like using the wolf ring with the chain armor chest and knight leggings. 61 poise, enough to tank anything but an ultra, and to tank 2 hits from light weapons. All obtainable early on. Without even using the favor or havel rings, you have 7.6 weight left for weapons at 40 endurance.
FAP Ring in general is just so versatile. So there’s my answer. Dark Wood Grain is my 2nd choice of ring for a Dex Build whereas Havel’s for Str Builds

I like this idea of Fina and Velka being one in the same with moon imagery, one is the full moon, the other the new moon, and both the same being
My suspicion would be for them being not only the same, but simply different aspects of the same goddess. One, most likely Fina, being her first form, who married Gwyn, had a few babies, granting Favor and Protection to her followers. After the First Sin of Gwyn, she decided to take her second role and walk away, turning into Velka, the goddess of Sin.

I'd say Ring of Favor And Protection is the most "One Ring" to me, because of its dark and fickle nature. The others are powerful rings, but they lack the sinister side of the Ring of Favor and Protection
Y’all should put: “Warrior. Dentist. Bishop. Blacksmith.” on a T-shirt lol
I almost always use Havels and FaP, but I also usually level endurance to the soft cap, then use the wolf ring.
Havel with bonk sword Havel with bonk sword Havel with bonk sword Havel with bonk sword Havel with bonk sword Havel with bonk sword
hell yeah, hype. tbh i just found your channel recently, and since i haven't played elden ring yet, i'm most interested in these dark souls vids, so i'm really glad you're still putting these out
Make sure to watch the previous ones, no other lore enthusiast went as deep as Hawkshaw
wolf ring tremendously underrated
you should make a poll for the top ring choice. Nice video, very entertaining!
We can still make ninja Havel by using Havel's armor and pyromancy as our weapon 😋
0:13 dark souls in summary?
I wasn't expecting you to say "you cannot double fap". The idea it created in my head got me for a real good laughing session
“You cannot double fap” it’s joever
Ahh the Hawk has returned, here's one for the algorithm.
Flip ring is the best no baggage attached just some slick anime shit right there.
Man sure does love his rocks
One day an rpg will let us wear rings for every finger
May as well put them on the toes too

I really do aprecciate how you still make videos on the original game, love Hackshaw.
20 seconds into the video and I'm subscribing. I recognized the music in the start and went to check to see if you were one of those folks that list the music in the description. I appreciate that, bruv. Means a lot.
I always interpreted Havel's ring as being a cluster of raw diamond, with an inset of something like cobaltite or a tarnished pearl. Or just steel.
I assumed it was steel formed to look like rocks like the dark grain wood ring was gold shaped to look like wood.
It's raw iron ore, the metal is in the form of globules
@@2shadesofgray752 and the closet an metal can be to a natural rock
Oh cool, I can see that @@2shadesofgray752
@@axis8396
But then I have to assign other items to the bar without a specific purpose and think about it, and risk forgetting I'm on a timer in the moment.
Green blossoms don't eliminate stamina management, they just address it another way, trading stamina management for item management.
Chloranthy just says "you don't need to manage Stamina anymore"
When the debuff is that you can't take it off...
I'm like, "Yeah. Fine. Great. That was the plan."
Fap ring is the best. Its controversial, we love to hate it, but everyone wears it!
Another amazing video. Never thought about the second FAP ring connection with LI. Makes perfect sense he was the king holy cow
Therapist: Flip Havel can't hurt you. He isn't real
Hawkshaw: Flip Havel is not myth, but history
Havel + Wolf ring is so reliable
Havel + F.A.P will always be my personal ring combo.
It's crazy to think that we never met og havel
It's always a privilege to indulge in your content!
Episode 2 here we come!!!
Why did the claws and uchigatana use the elden ring descriptions instead of the dark souls ones?
FAP Ring in general is just so versatile. So there’s my answer.
Dark Wood Grain is my 2nd choice of ring for a Dex Build whereas Havel’s for Str Builds
It occures to me that the plan to lock a dragon slayer with a 1 ton hammer behind an inch thick wood door only makes since if all doors walls and other built objects are diagetically indestructible. Just like respawning lol
I can't wait to watch this with absolutely no personal bias whatsoever.
Heh.
Havel would be able to smash through any door with that club hell id say he could smash a gate
Little bit of a hole in the story there
I vote Havel's because with that bad-boy, even pure casters can rock just about whatever armor they want.
i have watched atla so many times that i immediately recognize its soundtrack whenever someone uses it in the background of a video
FAP. Absolutely the goat I don’t think it’s even up for debate.
Great video as always man.
Your use of the city of tears ost only makes me want to see you upload hollow knight lore videos, did this cross your mind?
Maybe do a poll to see if it's worth your time.
I'm sure whatever you do will be awesome.
I think it's pretty evident the F.A.P ring is the best of the three considering that it's the only ring that breaks if you take it off which no wonder the game devs had to do to balance it.
I'm still sad that the flip ring isn't in any future souls game
Cat ring is best ring. Forest PvP was.. an experience, to say the least. Plus, the lore wasn't too bad either, protecting the goodest girl in the series (and the 2nd best ring).
Edit: havel mom ptsd prevents me from even considering Havels or flip ring..
11:18 Good ol' Patches maneuver
Honestly if we are talking power, Wolf's Ring should get a mention. Its basically a must have for any lightweight builds that dont run The DWGR.
Covenant of Artorias. Its the only game you can't beat the game without
Community, we just earned ourselves an episode 2 👍
I regret not ordering elden ring or dark souls jewelry
Still pissed the flip ring wasn’t brought back in DS3 or maybe even a talisman version in Elden Ring
havel the rock was an ancient dragon. in fact there's a reasonable chance that The ancient dragon in the ash lake is Havel.
source?
He did infact discover the baby ancient dragon in ash lake but he is not a dragon

"What Ring you got? Havel's Ring"
- You know who said this
10:20 you might have gone to the wrong wiki for the description here hah
You put on the flip ring and then:
WELCOME TO LAZY TOOOWN
It almost seems like the description of Havel's Ring implies that he himself didn't wear one, for he did not need it
3 rings for the Roll born...
The horniest, fattest, and dexterous of all players.
7 for the farmers.
The most patient, and time wasting of all the players.
And 9... 9 rings were given to the race of try hards... who desire nothing but one-hit potential...
