Hey everyone! We hope you like this different style. We know we have done Havel in a literal, analytical way before, so this time we have made it a story of legend! Some parts are what we think is most likely to have happened, but our imagination had to be involved to make this the most entertaining possible! If you want to watch the detailed lore behind Havel's story, check out our videos on him here: Ash Lake, Havel, and the Plot against the Gods: ua-cam.com/video/pffJ1nDRei0/v-deo.html&pp=ygUJYXNoIGxha2Ug The Lore of the Rings in Dark Souls (including Havel's!): ua-cam.com/video/mFQ85qM5i2s/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Hawkshaw
First experience with Dark Souls, opened the door and started down. Saw message on the ground that said "Imminent Tears" and 5 seconds later Havel flattened me with one hit. Bro is such a bad ass, in all 3 games.
My first experience I spent about 2 hours on him before leaving to do more story and have upgraded weapons, came back and beat him in 2 tries. Currently on my 3rd run of the game doing a Wolverine character (Claws weapon in both hands) and I annihilated Havel with parried and backstabs first time, kinda felt bad
Havel's armour always intrigued me. It is so iconic while always feels so bizarre. Like something is wrong with it. Then I understand what was Infront of me all this time. The chains. His hands are chained, his shoulders are chained, his hips area chained. Even in later ages of DS2 and 3 this details always there. Then I remember a nifty item and its peculiar explanation in DS3; Prisoner's Chain : "A prisoner is one who has staked everything on a belief, a proclivity most apparent in the greatest of champions." What this item gives ? Well, 5 Vigor, 5 Endurance, 5 Vitality.
Perhaps you should take another look at the armor then, especially the description. The armor was never worn by Havel himself, only by his warriors. There is more pointing towards Havel being an everlasting dragon than something similar to his warriors.
@@JohnDoe-sq5nv I get that the description says worn by "followers of Havel" but then why would we find a set called "Havel's armor" in Anor Londo next to an occult club? Why would he be called Havel "The Rock"? It seems to be more accepted the armor was made in likeness to his.
@@Sylph_C0 I mean if he was an everlasting dragon, it would make sense that he was called "The Rock". Also, it could be called "Havel's Armor" because it's an armor made to resemble his characteristics, or even just because it's the armor that his followers wear. Think of it as in monster hunter, you can wear "Rathalos' Armor", but Rathalos isn't a warrior. And the occult club, well, if it's armor was worn by followers of him, would it be so strange that next to a warrior's armor there's a weapon?
@@Sylph_C0 Exactly as whitedrake6933 says. The armor set explicitly states that Havel's Set was worn by his warriors. Either we care about the item descriptions or we don't and feel free to make up our own "lore". Adding to that, the Havel Knight that we do find and fight in Dark Souls is also wearing Havel's ring. It's item description is: "This ring was named after Havel the Rock, Lord Gwyn's old battlefield compatriot. Havel's men wore the ring to express faith in their leader and to carry a heavier load" And similar in Dark Souls 3. Meaning that there are: 1. Multiple rings 2. They are worn by his knights. Multiple rings definitively means multiple armor sets, which is also consistent with the fact that we find several Havel Knights across the trilogy. With two of them showing up in Dark Souls 2. It makes more sense if Havel's following was some draconic sect considering the fact that they wear equipment coming from dragons and that resemble something rock-like. Reminds me quite a lot of those who collect dragon scales to become more dragon like. "Dragon scale for reinforcing dragon weapons. Peeled from an ancient dragon. A dragon is inseparable from its scales, and the transcendent apostles, who seek the perpetuity of the ancient dragons, have crossed the very end of the earth to seek this invaluable treasure." No matter, pointing out one single Havel Knight and calling him "Havel" is at best hilariously inconsistent with the lore we are given. At worst an intentional omission of known facts to fit the chosen narrative.
Ledo have higher damage output while Havel got higher endurance with slightly lower damage output, It is stated that Ledo had lost to Havel in a duel in a manga I have read edit: after re-read it I found that Ledo said it himself that his and havel’s strength is equal

No other build beats the satisfaction of becoming a giant weapon wielding monster capable of killing most enemies with a few blows (and sometimes with even just one).
On my first playthrough, whenever I collected something from Havel, I put it on! I just loved the idea of being a man, knowing everyone around you is using their faith and intelligence to come up with new kinds of attacks. But you? You push through, a simple method put through perfection making you one of the biggest assets of an enourmous army. Thank you for the video Hawkshaw !!
I can appreciate the hell out of the mindset, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like it’s also unfair to paint Havel as some oaf who only knew how to rely on his strength, he also showed signs of having very high faith. He CREATED two very powerful miracles in order to combat (or rather nullify) magical power. Even if he relied mainly on his strength, to say he completely ignored using his faith on the battlefield is a little too far I feel like. The miracles may not have been his most powerful asset, but they were specifically mentioned to be a part of his arsenal, so his use of them was at least somewhat apparent to the people around him if it survived history as long as it has.
@PartialProphet you’re drawing parallels with the real life modern world in relation to a world where God-like figures provably exist and communicate with mortals. I’m also gonna have to heavily disagree with your notions about faith being antithetical to intelligence, even in the modern day, but especially because the game is based on medieval knights, not 21st century people. Most medieval knights would have obviously been _heavily_ religious, but also amongst the most educated and intelligent people in the population. Intelligence doesn’t necessarily mean you’re ‘right’ about everything, it’s your ability to decipher the information given to you by the world around you. They would have been amongst the most well mannered, well spoken, and well read people in a society. Doesn’t mean all the information they had was correct, and since they had much less overall information, they relied on faith much more for explanations to things, but faith and intelligence are not mutually exclusive. I’m also more than willing to have an argument about why IQ is a flawed way to measure intelligence, and also looking deeper into whatever studies you’re referencing to check the veracity of your claims, but I’m refraining from writing an entire essay on that subject in this comment section lol, for now.

I herd somewhere that parts of this story occoured before gwyn linked the fire and that gwyn discovered gavels plans He was so sure that he could not stop the rock for good that he stripped him of his armour/weapons and had him imprisoned in the asylum to rot away to the dark sign With what seemed like an eternity Havel eventually lost himself until he was helped out at the start of ds1 and that even though his memories and body faded, his will carried is what carried us through ds1 until we linked the fire I think I prefer this version even if it’s inaccurate. Porcoiddio! **Clap clap clap** diocanediocanediocane
always a pleasure to see new content this story time style is very welcomed! i was on the edge of my seat despite knowing the outcome, amazing as always
Havel the Gigachad
🥶🥶🥶ITS A GOOD DAY BOYS HAWKSHAW VID🥶🥶🥶
He killed me today. I was not even an hour into the game. I just had to find out who the fuck he was. Imagine my luck, you uploaded this yesterday. Fucking insane.
Havel didn't Havel a Lavel Savel.
He only haveld a will of Stone.
18:05 OH MY GOOD THE PERFECTLY TIMED HOLLOW KNIGHT OST
Honey wake up hawkshaw posted a Havel lore video
Hawkshaw DS1 lore hits different. Also, love the inclusion of SOTC OST
Well done sir I was fully engaged by the visuals and story. Well done
We need a Giant Dad lore video.
Can you smellelelelelelllooo what Havel is cookin'?
Considering he is in all 3 dark souls games or at least the armor and weapons he wears/ has I'd say he did a grand job.
I like to think Havel was somehow born with super strength or in Dark souls in general people can just be born ridiculously strong
Here he is, the man, the myth, the legend, HAVEL THE ROCK
God me and my wife look forward to your videos all the time. Havel is my goat for Dark Souls. He was the ROCK!! Thanks for the great video.
I’ll be looking forward to watching this tonight when I wake up!!!
Yet, here we are, parrying him to death on SL1 😢
Hawkshaw + Havel = my favorite videos :)
Its crazy how influential this game has been. It's been 13 years since it was released and people still make lore documentaries
Learning this made me feel bad for having went down there in my first playthrough and just poking him with a level 1 spear until he died
"stupid sexy seath " - Archbishop Havel
amazing video i have stumbled on, i hope to see more cinematic videos like this in the future
Oh yes. Well done as always, Hawkshaw.
Who needs lore when you can have lore-flavored fiction lol
The sound effect of Havel’s Hammer still makes me wince
I herd somewhere that parts of this story occoured before gwyn linked the fire and that gwyn discovered gavels plans
He was so sure that he could not stop the rock for good that he stripped him of his armour/weapons and had him imprisoned in the asylum to rot away to the dark sign
With what seemed like an eternity Havel eventually lost himself until he was helped out at the start of ds1 and that even though his memories and body faded, his will carried is what carried us through ds1 until we linked the fire
I think I prefer this version even if it’s inaccurate. He was the man whose will was so challenging that the gods had to put a stop to him
Thanks! Excellent lore video as always.
The battle towards the end of the video is amazing, the sequences of fighting lordrans and seaths forces is displayed beautifully in the clips.
Rock Solid Video! 🪨
The GOAT
Real men parry Havel
In my ideal world, a fourth Dark Souls entry would include an artorias-style Havel boss fight
