Just found your channel. In love with my 90 miata. 146k miles and running strong. Loved it so much I bought my mom a 95M with only 28k miles. I love revving every gear and never have to worry about getting out of hand with that tiny motor. Couldn’t be more fun on twisty TN mountain roads.
My first Miata was a new 1992 identical to this. I put a lot of miles on it. I've not been without one since. Second one was1995 used, red, with the power package and an optional hard top. I now live in coastal Northern California where it rains buckets, so I kept the top when I replaced it with a customized 1997 in baby blue with metal flake. Top didn't, and couldn't match color, so I painted that in a contrasting coral. I won't buy a newer model cuz it's gotta have the bug eyes. Dearly love Miatas, and will always have one.
You are, genuinely, one of the best car channels on YT! Absolutely hilarious and real. 14:16-14:30...such subtle humor. It's so good! I subscribed after seeing your review of a Town Car with a superchager while looking at gang stalking videos...instantly hooked! I hope to one day have the cash to buy one of the absolutely pristine vehicles you review. Keep it up, and watch out for those white vans!
Another great review thanks so much Bill yes .. The MX5 is a perfectly balanced and very pretty car a lot of high milage older models on the market under $5000 for those that want a week end fun car at an affordable price 👌
I never thought I'd have to think about a person driving a Miata and packing a 9 mil! The Miatas are cool, I owned a few MG Midgets long ago - frickin' go-carts! Love the vids, Bill! And, you know, looking forward to the next! :)
Have had a '96 R-Pkg since new. It IS perfection. I've had many others since that car (most costing much more) but that car is still with me, though its status as a "garage queen" has been altered a bit. Also not mentioned, these cars are simple to work on and don't really break - just do the normal maintenance and you'll be fine!
My sister bought a red 1990 new. I was and still am a American V8 kind of guy but I have to say that her Miata was a great ride. I should have hated it; Japanese, 4 cylinder, small, cutesy “chick” styling. But the first time I drove it I was converted. The shifter was slicker than slick, a pure joy to operate. The engine was weak especially by modern standards but it was still pleasing, a lovely feel to the power curve. It was fun to drive flat out precisely because it lacked the power and ultimate grip. My sister lived in Canada so her Miata had no AC and no airbag. The lack of airbag meant it had a lovely steering wheel as opposed to that ugly early air bag look.
I sold some of the very first Miatas brand new in 1989 at Lyndale Mazda in Florida and Tampa it was considered one of the best top 10 cars in the world to own at that time the b package with limited slip differential in a hardtop brought $10,000 over MSRP in 1989 you forgot to mention the Smith gauges just a perfect little package and still is a great car you can find these guys just a few thousand dollars nowadays in 1994 they came out with a black with red leather limited edition which is amazing car but the British racing green was the collectible one
incredible shape for an almost 30 year old car . over here in the netherlands are 14 of them for sale, most of them are red and green.bill is right about the build quality compared to alfa romeo.
Seen this car at a Auto Show when it came out. Wanted to have a sit but nope, couldn't pass my legs under the steering wheel - I'm 6ft tall. The only car I couldn't sit in 😁 The interior of this car is perfection, imho, robust, easy and simple design (if a little too small, almost looking like a toy). Even these door cards are just perfect with the window lever and large arm rest. Sometimes, the best things are the ones we don't really notice, but that work perfect. The designers back then were just so much more inspired than what's being done today.
WTF, bill! We’ve been wanting to see a review of that yellow Saab. Personally I wanted to hear your history lesson and “bill” comments that would have gone along with it, BUT instead you whipped out that vette and this damn Miata. Will you please do a review of that yellow Saab for us? I went through ALL of your videos and there wasn’t a single Saab on the channel, I was surprised to be honest. Anyway, yet another awesome video from Bill (and I can say I’ve watched every one minus all the Benz repair videos at the beginning) I freakin love ya, love the videos, love all the bitching... and this video made me super happy right off the bat with the comment on the detail guy driving the Porsche. 😂 Love, Peace, and hair grease!
Great review Bill BUT why such a negative comment for the Alfa Spider “owner of a newly bought Alfa Spider series 3 with manual and without catalic converter since 1987, the ORIGINAL”.
Hey Bill, I had a '94 and then a '95. Now I don't have any but prepared to fly down from Atlanta to pick up a low milage cherry version. Contact me here and if it's the right one....I'm there! You make me laugh! I'll buy you lunch or dinner as well! Steve
+SNG Garage Eng without any fake style? the whole design is fake - lifted from the british that's like saying the lexus ls400 was "without any fake style"
Who would have ever thought that a video on a Miata would keep me laughing for ten minutes? My personal favorites were the "small price to pay" comment on the danger to pedestrians in the pop up headlights! But the having a car built in a country that encourages suicide for poor workmanship is right up,there too!
The MX5 is a modern day Elan. I’ve got a lovely genuine early Eunos Roadster wihich I turbocharged to 240bho, I also have a Ralliart Evolution 6 and take the Eunos out more. Says it all. PS it’s not entirely down to the Americans 😂. A huge team of Japanese engineers finely honed the chassis and specifications. Why must Americans always make it about them when it wasn’t.. Also the engine was based on the low compression 4wd 323 turbo variant, not the fwd one.
Why bring politics into a review of a Miata? Isn’t our country divided enough as it is? Can we not agree to appreciate these great cars without adding political commentary? My objection isn’t to the specific political opinion being voiced here, it’s an objection to ANY political opinion being voiced here. Of course, we have free speech so the original poster is free to say whatever he wants in his video. I just think it would be better for all of us if political commentary was kept out of reviews of Miatas.
I can listen to this guy for hours lol.
Every word is gold. I've got a '90, and it's the most inspiring, balanced drive you can get for the money.

Not the fastest, not the most sexy, but probably the most fun one can have in a car and not break the law.
@Jy Jym No doubt everyone has their own idea of what constitutes enjoyable motoring.
+Robert Papps sexy if you are a gay guy
These cars were all smiles to drive...you could drop the top from the driver seat at a red light legit!!!
Everything looked like a door stop, LOL
Had a '94 and I loved it...not that there's anything wrong with that.

I am amazed that little 4 cylinder engine makes such a great sound.

I absolutely agree with this assessment. And like bill I was not always a fan and proponent but... I was very wrong and I need to buy one fast

Miata’s are great little sports cars. Probably the best value in modern sports cars today. Just don’t get the one with automatic transmission.
Bills dry humor rules
Would love to work in Bill’s candy store.
dude like doug from up
Even Clarkson loves Miata's and he hates anything under $100k.
It's funny because I am a hairdresser and I think these cars are very cute
I like the car but I love the commentator. Please take over Nightly News?

I am so very uncoordinated. Dis Mazda make an automatic mx-5 in the 90's
I have a red 1990 with 47k miles..
Manual adds fun but nothing wrong with a automatic either.
Automatics are for sissies
