I am a proud NC aka "boat" owner. 2007 copper red GT. My brother-in-law and I both think this gen is the best looking of all. Screw those so called "purists".
lol :) I have a 2006 NC "3rd gen limited" now, after having enjoyed a 1.8 NA until it rusted out. Love my NC just as much as I loved my NA. Sure it lost a bit of the NA's purity, but it also more than makes up for that in other regards. I really like the chunky look of the NC. The 2.0L engine is just in another league; it's so much smoother and more willing, and in comparison it feels lighting fast. The breaks are also so much better. The soft top is much better designed and easier/lighter to operate. They don't seem to be as likely to rust out on you. They have options that make it much more livable (the traction control makes it actually an option when there's snow; you still have to be extra careful, but with the NA that was just outright too dangerous).
I own an NA, which will undoubtedly be the collector of the bunch. However my girlfriend owns the NC Grand touring from 2007 and it beats the pants off my car as a sports car. When my na is all used up I'll look for an old NC, the sleeper Miata and the one that all of us in the know will appreciate. Enjoy that car brother
The NC is the best. Has ESP, ABS, is reliable, does not rust badly, price is good, has better storage than ND, more leg/cabin space, does not look agressieve or expensive so people smile at you
Mazda MX 5 exceeds Porsche for reliability. The Mazda design team perfected the roadster with the Miata. Admire the Porsche Boxster, but the cost of ownership, not worth it.
Totally agree with your comment about speed. It feels fun at 40 which you dont get in a normal hatchback. You dont have to scream the nuts off it to have a great drive.
Hi Bill, early in 2021 after watching this video review of the NC I went on the hunt. Then in October of 2021 I found my dream car, a black 2006 grand touring with tan top and interior. With only 24k on the odometer the car shows it, still has the new car scent inside. Thank you for helping me find the perfect retirement gift. And thank you for all the fantastic video reviews.
Love this video /narration. The humor, the frankness, the candor and realness of it. It makes it harder to go back and watch the other 'polished' car videos where everybody talks the same.
Totally agree with your comments about the NC. I had an NA S Limited Edition, then an NB Euphonic Edition - and now I have an NC 2.0 Sport Tech. It's far more beautiful than the previous two, and it feels far more alive. It's also far more improved, refined, and has a premium price feel. I can't speak for the MK4 but this is my best Miata yet. I'm absolutely in love with it.
I'm shopping and thank you for this very informative presentation. At 73 my motorcycling/cycling days are over. I had several British roadsters back in the day and still miss open top. Thanks again.
Just a fantastic review! A mix of history and facts. Just bought my fifth Miata and second NC. I got a ‘15 Club, and I’m more pleased than ever. I tested the traction control on my local twisties yesterday. In my NAs, I might easily have spun out in a really tight turn, but my Club helped me regain traction quickly. People can all the NC what they like. But they should drive it first.
Thank you for a good, interesting and funny test drive. I have a 1997 modell, Toyota Celica, which I love and have had for 16 years in October now, but a MX-5, is my biggest dream, and have been it for 6 or 7 years now. I think it`s lovely to look at, and everyubody on the net which own a car like this, talk about how lovely it is to drive, and you got the right sportscar feeling in it !!! Thank you again. Best wishes from Norway !!!
Great review, Bill! I have the exact same Miata/MX-5 as yours, Bill. Same year, color, wheels, top, and mine also has the automatic tranny. The Miata is a blast to own, and I recommend them highly. As a 60 year old man, the Miata is the most fun car I have ever owned. Maybe I should have purchase a 6 speed, but I live in Southern California where traffic is bumper to bumper. But even with the automatic -- it's a quick little bugger! My Miata is a 3rd car for me, I also have a Lexus SC430 and a Tacoma. Sadly, I only put about 800 miles on the Miata last year and I'm not sure why so little. Because every time I get behind the wheel of that little roadster it puts a smile on my face. Every time I drive it people will come up to me and want to talk about it, even at stop lights. No other car that I've owned in my life has received so much positive attention. It's damnedest thing that I've experience with a car. Maintenance and upkeep is nothing for these cars. Their really bulletproof as far as that goes. I put a new Robbins top on mine about a year ago, it ran about $1400.00, but that's about it. Love my Miata! I enjoyed your video very much! Thanks Bill!
Agreed Wayne/ Bill, I drove an NA and NB with the intention of buying one as a Sunday car then I drove an NC and realised that I could re-evaluate the whole MX5 ownership thing and run that model as an everyday driver (10,000 miles per year). The woman of the house has a 5 seat hatchback for sensible occasions but that's a rarity. I've just returned from driving a (deeply dull) Jeep rental car for 3 weeks and all I could think of on the flight home was starting up the MX5, now that's a powerful bond, unlike anything I've experienced before.
I have an '07 GT six speed that I absolutely adore. I live and drive my car every day in Los Angeles, never had someone stop and chat with me about mine. Ah well, one can dream. 😜
We have owned 3 NC Miatas now. On one hand im glad they remain cheap and unloved. On the other I agree.... people need to get over it. Feels like all the hate for the 996 sometimes.
Great video and echoing prior comments...entertaining commentary! I recently purchased a 2008 6-speed retractable hardtop metallic green NC and agree that it is a blast to drive. Thanks for a fun and informative post.
Hah, another must-watch-beginning-to-end car tour! Firstly, thanks for the impressions of this NC as everything was VERY informative and helpful. But even better, loved the commentary on your coworkers. The honest disapproval and disdain is refreshing!
I never clicked your videos because I thought it's just a car sales channel. Boy, was I wrong. This is hilarious. Thinking about getting an SC430 or Miata. Good thing you're separating review and sales now. I just subscribed.
Really enjoyed this. Coming from the Mini Cooper world I’m no Miata purist but have always admired them. In July I got a 2007 and absolutely love this car. I think it’s the best looking of the models so far. And a terrific deal. I didn’t find you cranky at all. Got a few good laughs along the way. Thanks!
I'm a huge MX5 fan since I was a kid looking at the NA, NB I really liked it. now I can make my own money, and planning to buy a car. I decided to buy an NC idk why ppl hate on the NC and loved the ND but me prsnly I loved the NC much more. its my favorite MX5
I finally bought a 2010 Miata 7 months ago. I’m 58 yrs old, 6’1”, and it’s my daily driver. The car’s A/T works great, and shifts faster in “Manual” mode, than any other car I’ve owned with a traditional stick. Your observation about sleeves and intelligence had me screaming! 👍👍👍👍
I absolutely loved this video. I swore a long time ago that I'd never step into another car dealership again after being jerked around again and again by different sales people. But I'd actually consider buying a used car from this guy. And his description of the NC is right on. I own one.
Bill, you are my kinda guy, I love your sarcastic candor, I actually snickered through most of this vlog, YOU are the kinda guy I want at my barbeque, Christmas party, wedding reception, or just have over for a drink on the patio, you are, simply said, a treasure......I LOVE THE THIRD GENERATION MX5 the best!...1st is too small, 2nd feels like you're sitting way above the door-line, 3rd is perfect in my opinion, I love the flared wheel wells, the way the top folds, and latches into place creating it's own boot, the shape and lines are understated, but sporty, and even a bit elegant really...it just feels right all around, the reliability facter is what does it for me as far as two seaters go, and honestly, I love the 6 speed automatic trans, I hate shifting, especially where I live, it's all I'd be doing, I like the 06 to 08 front ends the best, before they added that obvious "smile" to the grill....I just love this car, and anybody who says it's "girlie" has never driven one, they are the most enjoyable car to drive....i have an 06 touring, in sunlight silver with black leather, and the black "cloth" top, and I'm just in love with the way it looks....it's the perfect "Miata"....and I honestly very much dislike the 4th gen....too tough/rugged looking for a Miata...I think they hit the nail on the head with the 3rd generation....Thanks for making me laugh today Bill, you are just awesome, I laughed pretty hard at your reactions to the other employees, especially the "retard" detailer, THAT almost made me shoot my drink out my nose, how your demeanor, and tone changed at the sight/thought of him.... you're the best Bill...
Very informative and practical review. I have that exact car 2008 GT with PRHT . bought it 4 years ago and have enjoyed it ever since. It is my 5th Miata and my first was a 1990 NA...then 3 NBs and now this NC. I am not a mechanical guy. I have always bought cars for their looks and how they feel when i drive them. I have never had a Miata that i didnt love in all respects but when i finally got into the models which had Automatics, power everything and last....and most...the power retractable hardtop, i was set for as long as i could be.In owning Miatas over 27 or 28 years, IU only had one which ever needed anything more than normal maintenance...phenomenal reliability...really amazing. The only complaints i have had owning Miatas are that as i have gotten to be a hell of a lot older than you are, getting in and out of my PRHT is getting to be a lot harder! More importantly, i HATE those lousy credit card looking remotes i have with my 2008! ...actually just dont like the oversophisticated AKE remote system!!! I was wondering if you would comment on the leather seats in the car you drove...i have the same seats and have always felt the letather was and is much too hard in texture....not really very comfortable.,..more like Mercedes " leather". I tried using sheepskin seat covers on one of my previous Miatas for improved comfort but it made the cockpit too tight for my taste. I would love to have an ND model...no particular reason...although i do like their styling, but I;m afraid i'm reaching the end of the Miata road fairly soon. In my earlier life i have had 6 Corvettes...loved them all, but they werent nearly as much fun as my Miatas. Thanks for the great review.
I never like this one, but when we bought this one ona road trip at United Kingdom, Mazda Miata MX5 (RHD, manual 6 speed) 2.0 125kw, and rode it 2500km back home to Czechia, i fell in love with this car. Driving over UK, France, Belgium, Germany and Czechia. Went to few trips with this car and, its awesome. When you try this car, you want it. If you never try it, you will never know what are we talking about and why are we even talking about it. It's so damn light for 2006 car, well dome job !!
I had an nb & nc. The nb had quicker turn in, sharper stick and more "fun" than the nc. But the longer I drove the nc, the more I fell in love with it. It was more mature. It could handle back roads and highways. The biggest issue with early nc's was it's engine programing did not like alcohol gas. Putting in alcohol free gas changes engines personality. It was taken away from me at an intersection. I was hit by a guy in a Durango who laid down a 90 foot skid mark then skid 160 feet on three wheels and engine craddle. My Miata ripped his wheel off. No damage to me. The car was repairable and is probably racing today. Totaled due to age. Got a yellow convertible mustang to be seen better. You drive a mustang, you wear an mx-5. The mustang may be faster, but I miss the fun of the mx-5 everyday. A miata without a stick is like a 2 wheel drive jeep. The clutch is so easy, there is NO reason for an auto.
Love your review! You hit the nail, the NC MX5 is the best of the bunch now! I bought a 2006 PRHT five years ago & never been happier with a car in my life! Drive it to work every day, take it on 500k plus drives a couple of times a year. This car is almost infinitely " upgradeable" if you so desire, from so many different manufacturers across the world who just specialise in doing stuff for the MX5. Previously owned a 2001 MGF which cost me more in repairs & maintenance than the car itself ( blown head gasket, continual problems with the suspension, neverending problems.... blah, blah, blah ! ) Since I have owned the MX5 there have been NO maintenance issues & so have been able to upgrade the car to my liking ( new sound system , stainless steel goodwin racing muffler, the launch release alloy wheels, trim replacements & so much more! But most of all I love the way it handles on the road!
I love Bill’s commentary, always makes me laugh. I agree that this generation is more compatible as an everyday driver and almost just as much fun to drive!
I have the 2012 UK mx5 mk3.5 2 litre sport black hard top in velocity red and love it. It has the larger wheels which fill the arches and just makes me feel so good when I drive it. The 3.5 had some useful improvements over the first mk3.
Your humor is so damn refreshing...and, I'm having this same car, except black interior, delivered to me by the end of the coming week...and I'm pretty damn excited about it....thanks for being you, you'ld be great to chat with at an after work beer and barbeque...just relaxing and shootin the shit....
Definitely has power steering, pump clearly visible under the bonnet/hood. Yeah ok been driving, maintaining and modding them since 2007, had an NB before that but love the NCs.
Thanks for a down to earth review. I’m 57yoa and looking to slow my roll a bit as I reach the twilight years of my military career. Funny, but all the complaints the purists voice over the NC are exactly the reasons it appeals to me. Granted, I don’t have a reference point to compare with NA/NB, yet, ceteris paribus, the NC is an attractive option.
I have this exact same car - the color even matches (copper red mica), but my interior is black. I bought it used in 2013 with 23000 miles on it. I absolutely love the car - the cornering is wonderful, and it’s spirit is fantastic. You can’t be in a bad mood while driving this car. And if you are, the car pulls it out of you and away from you. We’ve done a few long distance road trips in it and it’s become a member of our family. Just had the clutch redone and the transmission rebuilt. New canvas top is on order, then a CarPlay radio and a little something to pep up the exhaust note. I’ll save the engine rebuild for next year. She’s been my daily driver for 10 years and only has 131,000. Basic repair and maintenance tasks are pretty simple and are a great way to get to know your car’s systems better. I like it too much to part with it, so I’m doing my best to keep it maintained and fun. These cars were the right revolution at the right time ✌🏻
I love my 2008 PRHT I use it as my daily driver. Anyone who downplays this car more than likely is not intimate with it. I love NAs and NBs but as a daily, I will take an NC any day.
The handbrake is in a “weird” place over by the passenger because it’a Japanese car and as they drive on the right side it’s where the driver is. Changing to European/US configuration they left the tunnel as it was.
YeahI had the opposoite problem in my 370Z which was set up for LHD and sucked a bit as a RHD. The handbrake was far away and the cupholder (singular) was in exactly the wrong spot
Let me first say that Bill, you are a hoot to listen to. I will follow you. As a "car guy" I've owned several sports cars, from a 1973 911, 76 TR6, and 72 2002 BMW. Every one of them is about joy of driving as you put it. I think comparing the generations is valid, but really flipping nickels like manhole covers. I just bought a 2006 Grand Touring MX-5, and previously had a 1999 NB. I hadn't driven a Miata in 15 years, and my immediate impression with the NC was same fun, more power, more room, more comfortable, same.great handling. So, aside from styling, this is the same great, fun car. I did one autocross, and had the same great day as in the previous 99. Ideas on your channel..."COB" for crabby old Bill or Bastard (your pick). Anyway, continue on! Best to you, you COB. I am one too, so I can relate.
When I first bought my NC miata I was not happy about the slightly less sharp handling. But as I got to know it, I came to love it. A guy in a durango "took" it away from me. Now I miss it very much. Miss the toe and heeling. Miss the double clutching. Miss the mid level vents. Love the stiffness. Love the better higher speed handling than the NB. Love the better aerodynamics at high speeds compared to the NB nose lift at high speeds.
Very informative review Bill-and funny too! After spending a year trying to talk myself into a used Boxster, I’m now in the market for my first Miata, and I definitely will get this NC 3rd gen version, probably with a hard top. I was always a fan of the RX-8, so for me, the styling is beautiful. As for your new review channel name, how about Billy Goat Reviews?
100#'s is no big deal. But, the NC engine has forged internals, and that is a VERY BIG deal. It means it was designed for forced induction; this engine is an anvil! Wider fender flares means more rubber to the road is an option. I've had the NA & the NB. This is my next choice for next year.
You cant go wrong in a mint condition nc. I type from the cockpit of one right now. My last car was a Jag xk8 convertible and I love this just as much plus its more reliable. Sports exaust and aftermarket wheels beef it up a treat. Great review.
Had an NB and NC and both are a hoot to drive but the NC is far more comfortable without being too soft and doesn't rattle anywhere near as much. If I was using it as a daily driver I'd take an NC over a B any day.
I've had a 1.6 NA and now own a 2.0 NC. That 400cc makes up for the extra baggage. Still drives like a dream, like the NA. And with the LSD, it rotates as good, if not better than the NA (with the DSC switched off). Fricken love 'em.
My '06 MX-5 is the best car I've ever owned. I get excited driving to the grocery store. Got caught driving through a thunderstorm with the top down and I just laughed. At highway speed the rain blew right over my head. Beware. High torque on a rear-wheel drive on a wet surface can be nasty dangerous.
The NC is just a particular kind of Miata, with different priorities than the others. The convertible hardtop is cool, and the bulging fenders were a characteristic of the Mazda line at the the time, and seemed to suggest broad-shouldered sportiness. I thought they were a styling success. I have an NA, so I tend to be conservative about Miatas, but I think I can get over the fact that an NC is in many ways an entirely different, more elaborate kind of car. Instead of thinking of it as "somewhat less than the others," we should think of it as "a gentleman's MX-5," and "a nice car for a drive in the country, with full Miata dynamics." I rather like it for what it is, and not worry too much about what it's not. It's close enough! And GOOD enough! If we looked at NCs as if they were an outside competitor to earlier Miatas, we'd see them as very strong competition! I can feel myself warming up to them! I might even(tually) get one myself.
Have a lowered NC with coilovers and improved swaybars. Would put it against anything for the same money. So much stronger and more planted than my beloved NA.
Three NAs and two NCs for me. My latest, a ‘15 Club, is the best-driving, best-performing car I’ve ever owned. A joy to drive with the stock, sportier suspension on Bilsteins.
I never gave these cars any thought, except the V-8 conversions that go for around $90k plus. The fact that you had to pay for the car and send it to them with a $50k check, is what turned me off about them. But your review gave me a better impression of the car. It seems that they’re plenty peppy enough to get out of its own way, so if someone feels the need to add the V-8 conversion, they’re either showing off their income, or don’t like the latest Corvette. Either way, it doesn’t make sense, just take this car for what it is, and enjoy! Great review, Bill. I’m looking forward to the new channel. That way, I can listen to your humorous diatribes twice as much! By the way, why do you dislike the Canadians so much? I mean, aside from the fact that they have a loon as their currency, and they serve fries with the taco’s at Taco Bell up there.
I was only poking at you. Im sure it’s all in good fun. I really enjoy your humor. Your channel is just about the only honest as well as humorous thing I have in my life these days. One thing you said was getting old sucks. I have to agree. Getting old is rather difficult, especially when you become ill, at the same time. You’re the highlight of my day, and we seem to think alike, which makes it even better. Keep doing what you do, as you do it so well !
I own a 2002 Mazda Miata... for the last 8.5 years.... it is my pride and joy..... and it is Ferrari Red...... and the most fun to drive,....!!!! I also have a Mazda 2 for the Wintertime....!!!!
As an old MG owner, I love Miatas/MX-5s. After driving a new '05 NB back to back with a new "06 NC at our local dealer, I got the NC for "Ahem... my wife." The larger size NC is a realistic, daily driver and with the sport model (which, Ahem, I got for my wife) can take on most challengers on Mendocino County mountain roads. The 170hp along with the sport pkg. of close-ratio tranny, limited-slip diff., 17"wheels, and Bilstein performance shocks more than make up the slight increase in weight. 14 years and 120k miles later the total maintenance costs besides tires, brake pads, batteries, and routine service have been a new driver's seat cover and convertible top. That's it !!! Don't waste money and add weight with the retractable hard top... it's just something to go wrong. I love pulling up to a stoplight and putting the top up or down in 5 seconds... really - no shit, pull a lever and fold it down from the comfort of your seat... it even forms it own tonneau cover. Putting it back is more complicated: pull a lever, pull the top up, close a lever. it takes about a second more.
I have owned an NB and currently own a 2009 PRHT grand touring NC that I bought with 15k miles back in 2016. Currently has less than 30k miles and no issues ever except an EGR and minor AC work a couple of years ago. A great car that we enjoy driving. Club miata de Puerto Rico. 😀
Raymond De vries Opinions are like assholes -- everyone has one. One man's music is another man's noise. **cough bagpipes** One man's junk (NC) is another man's treasure (NC). IMHO NC still looks fugly with those flanged wheel wells. If _only_ there was a way to choose which gen to buy ... /s Whatever floats you boat.
Now have an NC FL (Mk 3.5) 2.0 Sport in True Red - previously had an 1.8 NA also in red. The NC FL is so comfortable, quicker, refined, capable of long distances (not the NA I had) and has modern conveniences as standard that I added at huge cost to the NA. My best additions to the NC FL: Top of the range 2-DIN Pioneer Naviceiver, short-shift lever, LED lighting and TapTurn relay.
I drove all the Mx5 , mk2 mk3 mk4 , my opinion is that the mk3 is less prettier of them all , but !! When you drive it you just fall in love , it s the best drive of them all.
I enjoyed this review very much... I worked for Mazda for over 10 years and the MZR motor series was purchased by Ford from Mazda ..the 2.0 in the Miata is not the same motor in any other Mazda product or ford product for that matter just FYI. Power to weight ratio in the NC is the same as the speed Miata stock. The brother of Maserati design engineer, designed this car hence the British/luxury appeal. The best Miata for the price/room/amenities..a little less fun than the NANDND but way better than the NB
I have an nc3 club edition with the retractable hardtop. I did a muffler delete and I plan on doing a cold air intake and the car is basically good from there.
I have a 1998 Supra, 6 speed, Competition clutch twin disk , Precision 6776 turbo, conservatively tuned to 650 whp, Blitz Nur Spec R exhaust, Blitz Blow off valve, dual boost controller, AEM ems, turbo timer and I have put over 130,000 miles on it and then I bought a Miata NC1 4 years ago and I gotta say that I fuckin love it just as much...in a different way. In my Supra I will embarrass you, when I downshift and punch it all you hear is my whistling blow off valve, it is fuuuucccking music and lets just say that speed is addictive and is dangerous. In the Miata, with 1/4 the power I have equal fun . I love a light, responsive, quick, agile car and that is what the Miata is. I am 6'0 190lbs, no problems sitting comfortably. Sure in a perfect world I would like a wider cabin, more legroom and just a little more horses.
If you think the NC is too tall, you can substitute H&R springs and roll bars to lower the vehicle. The ride is not much stiffer, and there is less overall compliance, but it looks great and handling is nicely improved.
I had a 2010 PHT GT, and while it does handle a bit like a bloated Camry, its still an incredibly fun car, and I'm glad I have it, bass mouth and all. My car is also a four season unit, and the traction control works ver well in the snow.
David Hochstetler definitely better looking than previous generations.
lucifer lavey no way! No pop ups! But these are beautiful nonetheless, but maybe I’m biased I have an NA...
Agreed!!
Has ESP, ABS, is reliable, does not rust badly, price is good, has better storage than ND, more leg/cabin space, does not look agressieve or expensive so people smile at you
"I'm not going to name any names, but his name is Robert"
That was hilarious 😂
Fun at 40 mph is the key!
38 likes from 38 Miata owners 🤣😂🤮
@@TryNotToHate1 mine is the 62nd 😊
Mazda MX 5 exceeds Porsche for reliability. The Mazda design team perfected the roadster with the Miata.
Admire the Porsche Boxster, but the cost of ownership, not worth it.
Pakistan currency rate
James Byron Dean owning a boxter is not expensive at all lol, i own one.. i love the miata tho
Mister Sturm indeed what?
@Mister Sturm Indeed what?
it is indeed
Totally agree with your comment about speed. It feels fun at 40 which you dont get in a normal hatchback. You dont have to scream the nuts off it to have a great drive.
Hi Bill, early in 2021 after watching this video review of the NC I went on the hunt. Then in October of 2021 I found my dream car, a black 2006 grand touring with tan top and interior. With only 24k on the odometer the car shows it, still has the new car scent inside. Thank you for helping me find the perfect retirement gift. And thank you for all the fantastic video reviews.
Whenever someone complains about another person's car, I always say "feel free to buy a replacement for it then." So far no volunteers
I'm going to look at one tomorrow. 2011, with 44,000 miles and electric hard top. Very exciting... love your videos, great sense of humour. John
Love this video /narration. The humor, the frankness, the candor and realness of it. It makes it harder to go back and watch the other 'polished' car videos where everybody talks the same.
Love my 2007 NC. Nothing better than doing a 3000km trip in it. So relaxing and so much fun to drive.
As a Brit and NC owner I find this video a breath of fresh air!
No bullshit. Bravo.
Go for it, Svein! I've had mine (2007, NC1) for nine years now and really like it!
I love NCs, but I can't get over the 996's headlights...
@@williamk1800 shrug I'm no Porsche purist and for the money you get a lot of car. Understand it's not for everyone though!
They ain’t cheap now….
@@williamk1800 At least the headlights are more characterful than all the other 911s' Beetle-like lamps ...
I decided to buy an NC
idk why ppl hate on the NC and loved the ND but me prsnly I loved the NC much more.
its my favorite MX5
I finally bought a 2010 Miata 7 months ago. I’m 58 yrs old, 6’1”, and it’s my daily driver. The car’s A/T works great, and shifts faster in “Manual” mode, than any other car I’ve owned with a traditional stick. Your observation about sleeves and intelligence had me screaming! 👍👍👍👍
I absolutely loved this video. I swore a long time ago that I'd never step into another car dealership again after being jerked around again and again by different sales people. But I'd actually consider buying a used car from this guy. And his description of the NC is right on. I own one.
lmao this guy just floors it up and down that wicked looking boulevard one handed talking to UA-cam what a Legend
One of the best reviews there is about older cars! Keep going! Those details are the best thing!
I almost want to fly down there and buy my next Miata from this guy. Absolutely GREAT commentary!!!!!
LIBRA You said it all! Next spring I will buy a 07-08 mx-5 GT PRHT for my 43 anniversary!
@@DustyPearl-13 ... congratulations....and you'll love the MX 5...and so will she...
I have a 2009 nc retractable hard top and it’s brilliant
Great review! I love the car! I hope to see/hear more of your reviews!
You are so witty and honest. Two things I cherish in my entertainment.
Oh yeah, and knowledgable! You know your shit.
True: some who have never driven one just laugh at you, once they've driven it, they laugh with you 😊.
That was the funniest car review, loved it. Also nicely informative about some of the less known details. Very well done didn’t miss a beat.
Previously owned a 2001 MGF which cost me more in repairs & maintenance than the car itself ( blown head gasket, continual problems with the suspension, neverending problems.... blah, blah, blah ! )
Since I have owned the MX5 there have been NO maintenance issues & so have been able to upgrade the car to my liking ( new sound system , stainless steel goodwin racing muffler, the launch release alloy wheels, trim replacements & so much more! But most of all I love the way it handles on the road!
I love Bill’s commentary, always makes me laugh. I agree that this generation is more compatible as an everyday driver and almost just as much fun to drive!
Really is the sweet spot for Miatas especially since the older generations are being bidded up
Great review and quite hilarious as well!
Great video. Helped me as I work through all the MX5 series options for my next car. And you gave me a couple of giggles.
The NC is an awesome car. I've had my 2007 NC1 for 9 years and like it a lot.
I bought a NC and love it, feel solid and is so much fun to drive, made me fall in love with driving again.
It's an awesome car, I've had my 2007 NC1 for 9 years. Good luck with it!
These cars were the right revolution at the right time ✌🏻
I love this guy! He tells it like it is!
Enjoyed your video! I recently acquired a 2006 NC Mx-5 manual. Super fun car!
I love my 2008 PRHT I use it as my daily driver. Anyone who downplays this car more than likely is not intimate with it. I love NAs and NBs but as a daily, I will take an NC any day.
I love the motley crew comments! - I'll take the skull metrics into consideration. Great job, Bill!
Awesome rant Bill ! The best in some time.
Nobody challenges your honesty
This man has no chill whatsoever. Like the amount of fucks he gives is lower than the top speed of the boat he’s driving here. Respect
Proud nc owner myself. I've got a '13 GT with a 6 speed manual. You need thick skin to own it it but the fun is worth the price.
Just got one of these, and I can’t wait to drive it. And my man who does this video - is freaking CLASSIC and BRILLIANT. 😅
I love the remarks about sleeves and skulls you are unique say it as it is so refreshing
I loved your equating sleeve length to IQ! I'm totally in agreement on that one.
For a UK viewer love the reference for no place for your 9mm. Great review.
100#'s is no big deal. But, the NC engine has forged internals, and that is a VERY BIG deal. It means it was designed for forced induction; this engine is an anvil! Wider fender flares means more rubber to the road is an option. I've had the NA & the NB. This is my next choice for next year.
Good luck with your purchase!
You cant go wrong in a mint condition nc. I type from the cockpit of one right now. My last car was a Jag xk8 convertible and I love this just as much plus its more reliable. Sports exaust and aftermarket wheels beef it up a treat. Great review.
Great review! I just bought one! No regrets! Loved the commentary! LOLOL! I think we'd get along great! ha ha!
This is the best review ive ever heard. Stay cranky man i loved the honesty. Personally I enjoy the second NC miata design but this still looks great!
Great review and hilarious. Very enjoyable to watch and listen while also informative. Great job.

Bill! You''re hilarious! Subscribed. Am a NB1 Owner (1999). Gonna check out your other videos. Happy 4th of July!
Got my NC2 2 tweeks ago. Wonderful little car. The NC I've always called "RX8 mini" as it looks alot like an rx8 to me which I'm a fan of
Looks just like my '06 GT except mine is a 6-spd manual and only has 24K original owner miles. Thinking of selling it and getting a new 'Vette.
I think the NB has aged better then the NC. The NB interior and exterior just had a classic muscle car look albeit in a smaller package.
Aside from being cramped and looking like an early 90s design catchy
I fell in love when I first bought that exact car! I just bought my Miata pretty much same thing with just has a brown top
It’s really the best looking miata of the 4 gens
Raymond De vries Opinions are like assholes -- everyone has one.
One man's music is another man's noise. **cough bagpipes**
One man's junk (NC) is another man's treasure (NC).
IMHO NC still looks fugly with those flanged wheel wells. If _only_ there was a way to choose which gen to buy ... /s
Whatever floats you boat.
I have an 06 MX5 Grand Touring. I bought it in 2014 with only 18,200 miles on it . I’ll never sell it . Most fun car ever.
I drove all the Mx5 , mk2 mk3 mk4 , my opinion is that the mk3 is less prettier of them all , but !! When you drive it you just fall in love , it s the best drive of them all.
Ill watch every episode ! Your commentary is the bee's knees ! AAAYYYEEE!
Even in city streets, you feel fun.!
For this, it's a fantastic convertible !
The best Miata for the price/room/amenities..a little less fun than the NANDND but way better than the NB
thoughts on the 2.0 engine? in terms of reliability and longevity. i’m looking at one with 110,000 for $4500
I’ve seen the mall to go 200k+. And still going pretty strong...Sorry for the delay
1. I'm an NC driver. Fair enough assessment
2. He had me in tears starting around 23:30 with the Sleeves Theory of Intelligence
COB (cranky ol’ bastard) autos would have been a cool name too. Great channel that I’ve been binge watching foe the last few days
I have an nc3 club edition with the retractable hardtop. I did a muffler delete and I plan on doing a cold air intake and the car is basically good from there.
Awesome car! 👏👍
Check out my 2.5l swapped NC, it's a fantastic conversion, I love it.
D 13 does a 2.5 swap still rev as high as a 2.0?
HMM, perfect I love fishing. I particularly love fishing for bass. This maybe the perfect car for me.
Is this Howie Carr doing car reviews now? Funny stuff! And love my NC Miata!
I had a 2010 PHT GT, and while it does handle a bit like a bloated Camry, its still an incredibly fun car, and I'm glad I have it, bass mouth and all. My car is also a four season unit, and the traction control works ver well in the snow.
Huge miata fan here, but i subscribed for cranky old bastard commentary. Keep up the good work!
So happy with my gray nc miata. Have no desire of upgrading after almost 4 years of ownership
Same here with my galaxy gray NC after 9 years ...
