Amazing explanation. It is really nice to understand that the procedures performed in the US are the same in Brazil. If you are in doubt about pursuing a career in audit, always remember that this is the best way to really understand accounting and all it's procedures.

Thank you and appreciate the view, Edson! Completely agree with you 💯 You learn SO much by auditing various companies and talking with your client contacts on the ins and outs of a business and the financial reporting aspect.

Which industry did you work in while you were in audit? From your point of view, how was working in audit different since Covid?

In my 7 years I spent the most time in the oil & gas, airline and telecommunication industries. The biggest difference was how much less direct time you spent with members of your audit team. Which I felt hurt many (especially younger members) as when you spend so much face to face time with team members you all learn at an alarming rate from one another. It’s slowly coming back more and more but highly unlikely it will ever return to the extent it once was.

I feel like everything you explained in this video can be applied to auditors at all levels. Is that what you think? Plus what are key metrics you looked at when you differentiated a high, average, and weak auditor?

Do you see people who work in tax go into audit? How easy it is to transfer into audit? I work in tax now but may want to transfer into audit

In my experience I have not seen too many change from tax to audit but I’m sure there a good number of people that have. Certainly possible and will take some getting use to at first as you learn the audit life cycle and procedures to perform but once you go through it once it will be much smoothies sailing for you. Got that “accounting mindset” so very much a doable transition.
