I'm not usually into this spiritual stuff but i do think it's important to listen to children and let them be children. The whole reason i don't have any, besides the state the world is in, is that they can not even *be* children. From the second they open their eyes, they are sat at some desk, kept entirely motionless for 8 hours every single day, in a class of 40+ kids, eating complete junk for lunch and candy from the vendor, having their natural aspirations and behaviours oppressed at absolutely every turn and people wonder why they have behavioural issues. They are merely prepped for the factory or some meaningless niche job, not for their passion. The few that make it through math, taught by some uninspiring, expressionless fossil, can go to university, since this is clearly the only measure for intelligence, right? Doesn't even matter if you ace absolutely everything else. (like me, Remedial teaching was not yet a thing.) I find the world and environment we're living in today, so toxic and hostile that i made a conscious choice to never to have children. One of the great advances humanity has made sofar is actually having that choice now. Keep up the good work, Ellen. They need you. Thank you Janaia. On the cutting edge as always. Such a fine journalist.

I'm 43 and asking this question, what are my gifts? how can I provide for my family while being true to myself and having fun? Who for and where should I work?
