    Gomboy Outback edition: atcproducts.co...
    Bigboy Outback edition: atcproducts.co...
    Urban Dictionary for Pocket Boy: Boy that is placed in one's pocket for protection and company
    All Silky's including the Pocket Boy's are great for protection and are great company (or peace of mind) to have around. They can give the helping hand or saw you need when in the garden, hiking, camping, bushwalking, trail bike riding/mountain bike riding, 4wding, just to name a few.
    Some people miss judge folding saws and think that they won't be able to cut very much, but once you start using them correctly, it feels like you've got a hot knife going through butter!
    Manufactured in Japan by Silky Saws, the Outback range is fast becoming the hottest and most in-demand saw on the market.
    The Gomboy Outback and Pocket Boy Outback both come in their very own clear perspex carry case that can be attached to a belt. The Bigboy Outback comes in a canvas zip-up bag.
    Where to use them: Hiking, camping bushwalking, bush crafting, survivalist, firewood, garden work, fishing on a kayak (clear overhanging branches) mountain trekking, plus more!
    Steering away from the pruning side and over to the hunting side of things the Outbacks had hunting as a big focus when being designed! So if you enjoy this sport then you will want an Outback saw in your pack for your next hunt.
    Are you looking for high-quality saws or axes that will put a smile on your face make any job seem effortless? Look no further, Jannita has so many awesome products to share.

    G'day Nita, Shiannah, great to see the young'ns getting involved and indeed being well guided.
    I just received the Outback Gomboy and Pocketboy models from your good selves and thanks once again for the outstanding customer service.
    Some additional feedback if I may;
    as a gardener and camper/bushcrafter, these really do compliment those I already have. For me, it means that I dont have to raid the garden shed every time I go hiking/camping, lol, and I now have tools even better suited to a wilderness type application. Smart move by Silky !!! and not disproportionately expensive either.
    Shiannah did mention the "Silky sacrifice" last time we spoke a couple of years back, and yes guilty, pruning a nectarine of all things, but once and only once, did it take to reinforce the lesson, lol.
    It is good that they come with the plastic cases, though they are a bit overkill weight and size wise for backpacking IMO. I reckon they would be better served, (on the outback editions anyway), by having a closed locking mechanism of some description, like a Bacho Laplander or similar, though in fairness the pivot screw can easily be tightened to negate accidental opening.
    Anyway, all good in the wood, you both continue to do a wonderful job of providing quality tools and advice to us down under. Cheers Duke.

      Yes! So many professions require multiple tools that look quite similar but for different purposes and materials, knives for butchers, chisels for woodworkers, brushes for artists, and handsaws are the same! Glad you found the video helpful! 😁

      I agree that would be me too! What you can do though, is put some bright coloured string or a D-Chip through the hole at the base of the handle. That way you have another attachment option and a brighter thing to look for when it is hiding! 😃 Nita.

    Hi, I was told the Bigboy 2000 does not take Bigboy 360 replacement blades. So now I'd appreciate to learn what the differences are between the 2000 and 360 because the ability to switch between blades seems kinda neat.

    • @gardensandtrees

      Hi, the Bigboy only comes in a 360mm long blade and all of the Bigboy blades are interchangeable, so you can switch between them all. We show Shenae doing this in this video. ua-cam.com/video/dymdpoQ8464/v-deo.html I hope this answers your questions 😊 Nita

    Hello Nita,
    Nice video...way to go teaching kids to use tools.
    I’ve been studying saws for the past two months or so, and I have been trying to learn as much as possible about the Silky lineup.
    I’ve just subscribed to your channel, as you and Shenae provide the best resource that I’ve found for explaining Silkys.
    That said, I’ve purchased a Sugoi 360, as well as a Hayauchi 20’ pole saw, and I would like two more saws and a chopper to add to the toolbox.
    This leads me to the following questions, if I may (I apologize for the length):
    1. I am looking for a small chainsaw replacement type saw to keep in my truck, and I’ve narrowed it down to the Genki Temagari and a Katanaboy 500 (the 650 is too much). As I cannot find any direct comparisons, could you please explain the differences in terms of applications for these two saws? I realize that the Genki has smaller teeth at the beginning of the cut, and the Katanaboy has longer reach, but I’d appreciate you explaining which you’d choose, and why?
    2. I am having trouble finding information on the Gomtaro Pro-Senti 300mm (or 240 for that matter). I’m not sure if this is a very unpopular saw, but it seems like it would make a great all a-rounder for detailed work up to medium pruning. Do you have any insights about this saw? Is there a better option where I don’t have to purchase two saws? I’m not going to get a Zubat, as I already have an excellent equivalent saw that fills its niche.
    3. Which chopper for clearing small branches and batoning? I’m leaning toward the Nata, but if one of the others is better for my specific purposes, I’m open to suggestions.
    I’d purchase all 3 tools from ATC, but I don’t think that you can sell to the US.
    Thank you...

      Hi, thanks for your message and I will do my best to help out. Question 1: Both are brilliant saws that I think will fulfill your needs perfectly, so I don't think you will be disappointed either way you go. But if I was picking, I would go the Genki. I don't have space issues so the extra little bit of size is not a problem for me. I also like the full tang blade and shorter-shaped handle for control and minimizing possible broken blades. Question 2: This is the video we made on the Prosenti, we do not sell the 240 anymore, as we feel for our market it is too easy to break a blade, but the 300 is great! ua-cam.com/video/TCVQGypyXIE/v-deo.html Question 3: You could go with the Yoki or Nata, the Nata is not as good for slashing as the Yoki, but it is better for splitting timber or using as an axe or hammer.
      We hope this info has helped and no stress about not buying off us, the more people watch our videos the more they will pop up in Australias youtube list, so it all helps, thanks Nita. 😃

      Nita,
      Thank you much for taking the time to answer my questions - your responses were very helpful.
      After a bit more research, I ended up going with the following for different purposes:
      1. General Pruning at home:
      * Gomtaro 300 Prosentei
      * Yamabico 330
      2. Truck Emergency:
      * Ibuki 390 (Red Scabbard)
      * Hayauchi 390 w/ Jameson poles and Notch head adapter
      3. Camping:
      * Bigboy 2000 Outback
      * Nata 240
      I feel like the Gomtaro/Yamabico combo gives me everting that I’ll need for making my bushes/shrubs/ornamentals beautiful. I also have the Hayauchi if needed.
      Ultimately the Ibuki/Hayauchi felt like a more useful combo than having either the Genki or Katanaboy. I got a killer deal on the Jameson poles, so that was a no-brainer.
      The Bigboy/Nata should pair perfectly with my survival knives and longer machete so that I’m covered in any bushcraft or camping situation.
      I also got a Silky diamond file, as all of my saws except for the Bigboy are sharpenable.
      If you can think of anything that I’m missing, please let me know.
      Again, I apologize for the length of my comment.

      Nita,
      Good call - I just ordered a Pocketboy Outback.
      Also, my brother was over the other day, and I showed him my saw collection. He was impressed, so I ended up giving him my Samurai Ichiban 330mm (which is actually a very nice saw), just so that I could justify buying a Sugoi 330mm...and I went ahead and got the Genki 500mm. I think I’ve gone a bit nuts with my saws, but I also think that I’m set for life now.
      Thanks again...

    hello silky saw, i'm really happy with the bigboy 2k outback edition and i tried the holster for this model but i'm not really happy with the retention and the looks.
    am i at the right adress here to ask if you are aware if it is possible to make a proper kydex sheath for this saw?
    - cause leather or other poly-materials won't really fit my needs.
    i only have 2 combat pants wich cost 280€ each which can hold the saw nicely but the sharp spine already makes the materials suffer hard and the rattle of the blade is an issue.
    kind regards and best wishes from austria and the land of the shining sunwines - burgenland

      Hi, we are not the manufacturers, but that is a great idea! We will pass on your suggestion and you never know. In the meantime, did you keep the canvas bag the Bigboy comes with? It might be good to keep it in that and then put it into your combat pants. That way the fabric will remain protected. We hope this helps 😃 Nita.
