    Thank you, ladies! These are the two saws that I am trying to decide between for camping/bushcrafting. You have done an excellent job in giving a comparison. I'm still somewhat undecided, they both seem as lovely as you two (well, they're just saws so that's a bad analogy...)
    ...And extra thanks for the "hack" about using the Big Boy case for the Ultra Accel!

      Thank you so much for your comment! Don't forget the handle on the Ultra is a bit bigger, so think what is going to fit best in your hand. 😊 Nita

      Out of these two saws, I would select the Gomboy curved for your needs.

      I would think both of these saws' teeth will be too big, as I imagine you are cutting small branches. Have a look at the Pocket boy range. ua-cam.com/video/lIuVbbHVkHI/v-deo.html 😃 Nita

    Trying to decide if the curved blade or straight blade is better for cutting logs down to smaller size for carving, but unrelated to that, what's the closing song used on this video?

    • @SILKYsaw
      @SILKYsaw  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, A curved blade is designed for angled work and the straight for head to waist zone. However, if you need to cut flat to the ground a straight will make that easier. As for the song, it's just a youtube tune that they allow you to add to your videos, so not sure of an official name sorry! 😊 Nita

    And soooo....? Do the 8 teeth cut better or the 7.5? The video of the saws cutting appear that the ultra accel cuts better.

    • @SILKYsaw
      @SILKYsaw  4 роки тому

      They are very similar. The larger teeth will be marginally faster on soft, large material. I would be picking between them based on the size of my hand. The ultra has a bigger handle grip, making it more comfortable for larger hands. Also the Ultra has more of a curve to the blade making it more efficient when cutting on angles. I hope this makes it a bit easier to pick 😀 Nita

      @@SILKYsaw ...thank you, young Aussie. I just bought the Ultra because my first use, and most frequent, will be for firewood on day hikes. If I fall in love with Silky, as everybody seems to do, I’ll get a bigger one for backpacking because I like to throw some serious heat 🔥 while camping at night.

    • @SILKYsaw

      @@bikerbruce1988 Sounds like a great plan! Don't forget, they cut only on the pull stroke, so great tip is, if the handle is touched what you are cutting, you need to reverse pressure. Handle should never bump into the branch your cutting. Enjoy your first Silky saw experience 😃

    • @bikerbruce1988
      @bikerbruce1988 4 роки тому +1

      @@SILKYsaw hmmm...I’m not sure what you’re saying. (I thought I’d be an instant pro, but maybe not so:-) Are you saying don’t push the saw in so far (deep) that the handle touches the wood? Or...make sure not to use downward pressure during the “in-stroke”? Thanks for your help Nita! I do want to look like a Silky pro on my first time. And I hope it’s not past your bedtime on the other side of the world.

    • @SILKYsaw
      @SILKYsaw  4 роки тому

      @@bikerbruce1988 No quite the opposite, I had just started work! You are totally correct. Don't push so far (or most so hard) that the handle touches the wood and don't use too much downward pressure. You will be a pro within 5 minutes!!

    So why would any choose the accel over the gomboy

    • @SILKYsaw
      @SILKYsaw  3 місяці тому +1

      Hi, You would choose the Super Accel if you wanted a slightly more robust saw and if you have large hands. It has a bigger handle, so is more comfortable for larger hands. ☺ Nita

    • @artMccolly

      @@SILKYsaw is the aluminum more robust that the steel frame?

    • @SILKYsaw
      @SILKYsaw  3 місяці тому

      @@artMccolly The Ultra Accel does not have an aluminum handle. The super Accel does. The Super Accel is designed to be as light weight as possible, hence the Aluminum frame.

    For my Gomboy 210, would that same gom case (shown for the 240 Gomboy in this video) fit properly or do those gom cases come in a specific size for each Gomboy?
    Also, I could not really tell the difference too much between the difference in cutting.

    • @SILKYsaw
      @SILKYsaw  3 роки тому +1

      Yes the Gomcase will fit both the 210 and 240. Hard to show the cutting difference in a video but you can feel it for we sure!

      @@SILKYsaw hmm. That might be why one guy on his youtube channel said he switched to the 240 from 210. He didn't say it was easier...that I remember but I needed the biggest one I can carry every day that will fit in my sling backpack the 210 was pushing the limit for sure but a better choice than the 170, to get that extra length.

    The blade tapers and is thinner towards the spine which is why it doesn't need saw curf. Look closely and every 7th set of teeth are flat ground tips. I admit I just saw that by looking down the saw blade I noticed a different pattern evenly spaced every 7 teeth.

    • @SILKYsaw
      @SILKYsaw  4 роки тому +1

      Hi James, sorry to taking so long to reply, crazy busy here at the moment and good spotting, most people don't notice that little tooth out of place 😄! Silky saws are hollow ground to reduce friction when sawing. The tooth you are seeing on a different angle is part the other Mirai-Me tooth style. This style of tooth gives the smoothest of all the Silky cuts. By having the 7th tooth on a different angle it allows more wood to be cleared from the cut giving a better final result. Thanks for watching the video and your comment! 😀 Nita.

    • @SILKYsaw

      Hi, the cut is basically the same, you would buy based on the handle. Ultra Accels handle is wider, so normally people with larger hands find it more comfortable. 🙂Nita.
