Hello Tina, I just want to thank you for existing.
I have borderline personality disorder and journaling has changed my life.
Thank you so much for all you do. I’m sending you so much love and good vibes from France. 💕🤍

Relevant to me! Anger is an emotion that bothers me quite a bit. It sucks and it also hinders me from journaling as well because I want my journal to be “pretty” and anger doesn’t really go well with pretty pages. This has made me feel like I need journals for different feelings. Then I think that’s ridiculous since I like being in one notebook and then I’m exhausted from thinking about journaling while angry, that I don’t journal. It’s beautiful how well you can evaluate yourself having these big feelings.

I’ve been trying to think of another name for Tree Map and honestly it’s a good name for its purpose of emotional charting (it’s to the point and describes exactly what it is). I guess if you’re unsatisfied with it though you could try and think of something a little more poetic like a Soul Tree (since we’re laying ourselves bare upon the tree in order to delve deeper within ourselves) 💚 such an interesting video!

These writing ideas are so interesting! I think they'll be really helpful for me, not only when I'm angry, but also for those times when I'm feeling very overwhelmed or disconnected. I'm glad you followed your creative fire 😊 Thanks for such a helpful video.

When I'm angry, I find it hard to vent about what happened. I often shy away from writing about negative things. Instead,I'd write a wish or a prayer. For example, I see a mean comment and it angered me, I would write a prayer so they will turn into a kind person, that they will be against mean comments, be the first one to speak up against mean comments, and defend those who got hated/bullied on. I'd make sure to go into details and try to make it as long as possible. So that by the time my 'prayer' ended, all my energy is spent on 'praying' and I have none left for anger.

#1 is always my go to for any intense emotions. Especially when they are overwhelming. I recommend journaling and ranting out your emotions privately before responding to the situation or involving other people (like on social media). This helps to clear your head, prevents lashing out at other people who might not even be involved, and allows you to be more honest with yourself from the beginning instead of choking down your emotions.
I love the discussion of breaking down your awareness of yourself in exercise #2. All too often I feel as though people aren't taping into their own thoughts and feelings enough. I usually add a bit of research into my process too. I start with your ground work (I notice, I notice, I wonder) and then try to back trace my way to the start of it.
Example: If I was feeling as you described in your example.. with the upper body tension, I might research what type of things cause that in a person... (Typically upper body tension is caused by stress...) Then I could go about attempting to write out the things causing me stress and hopefully narrow down what exactly I think is the common cause for this. It helps you identify the thing, look at it objectively, and create a plan of action to resolve the issue.
I have never seen the tree map but one thing I have used recently that reminds me of your #3 is a mind map. Its basically a beautiful minds type of web that allows you to vent all the conflicting, fast paced, almost random thoughts that are drowning you in your brain. Certainly not as organized as your tree though, I love the idea of using both! I love the fact that your tree shows the levels of masking your emotions. I feel the mind map is more of a raw and unedited version of just what is inside your mind when no one is around.
Overall an amazing video and I couldn't be more thankful that it came out today. I cant wait to try out what you recommended. I'm always looking for new ways to work through stuff in my journal!

This topic is immensely relevant and important. I do not consider myself to be an inherently angry person; but, I've had to contend with deeply frustrating and violating behavior by others this year, especially.
I was reading 📚 a review of the 3rd book of Elena Ferrante's Neopolitan novels and it spoke so well of anger and how her writing conveys it that I found relatable and thought-provoking. It reads:
"Ferrante writes with a ferocious, intimate urgency that is a celebration of anger. Ferrante is terribly good with anger, a very specific sort of wrath harbored by women, who are so often not allowed to give voice to it. We are angry a lot of the time, at the position we are in--whether it's as wife, daughter, mother, friend,--and I can think of no other woman writing who is so swift and gorgeous in this rage, so bracingly fearless in mining fury."
Thank you for your vulnerability in talking about anger, Tina. I admire the bravery that took. ❤

@@OverallAdventures Yes! You need that entire series, all four books on your MUST READ list! Elena Ferrante (this is her pen name as she keeps her actual identity enshrouded by a veil of utter secrecy) writes of female protagonists in ways I've never encountered before and like you, I read copious amounts of books. She is regarded as one of the greatest living authors of our time, and with good reason! Hope you get the chance to read them. 📚

I have been experiencing the need to change! I know a lot of people hate change and I wouldn't say I am one that enjoy it but right now in my life I feel the need for something different. It makes me irritable, a sense of unsettlement, almost angry that I can't accomplish what I need. I have also noticed that my sternum hurts. Almost like I need to stretch it or I can't wear anything tight because its restricting. I have ideas of why I feel this way and what needs to change but I am scared to make those changes and its hard to do with a family. Then the worry, if I do make this change what happens if these feeling persist? So many raw and deep emotions that I have been thinking about!

This was a very insightful video! I always tell myself to not journal my anger because I feel like there's no need to write about it. In cases where I rant due to extreme anger, it makes me feel really guilty afterwards or feel bad when I reread that entry. I guess this video helped me think that anger is also a human emotion and there is no need to hide it, even from my journal. Thank you , Tina!

I had to come back to this, cause today I am close or building up to irate. I want to get a handle on it before it gets to outburst point. Or more so outburst caused by a spiral in to a panic attack/ptsd thing. The fact that I can recognize this is something that makes me kinda proud.
I love your changing pens. I do this alot. It is soo satisfying. I feel that by remembering all my tools I can work through this and get to the other side leaving the overpowering part behind and get to the is this something I can fix or something I need to let go. To quote She-hulk "the normal amount of rage".
Thank you for doing this and much love.
