Very surprising that Google didn't do more with the cameras this year. Dropping the telephoto to add the ultra-wide is baffling to me. Why not have both? The Pixel is the only major phone that doesn't offer both at this point, and after adding the telephoto last year, it seemed like a no-brainer to just add the ultra-wide this year. The drop in quality on images and especially in video when zoomed in is incredibly evident, to the point where this is more of a sidegrade than an upgrade. Overall, I'm really underwhelmed by the Pixel 5. Google seems to have phoned it in this year (pun absolutely intended).
@@jaksahn3370 They indeed get worse every year. I have a Pixel 0 = Nexus 5x and I prefer its camera over the Pixel 3a (only in low light conditions I would prefer the Pixel 3a in HDR+ enhanced mode, which is better than Night Sight, otherwise Nexus in HDR+ On mode has more accurate colors, white balance presets and the same dynamic range). Pixel 4 doesn't have HDR+ enhanced anymore, which usually delivers better and faster low light results than Night Sight.
I can not believe how stupid they are. The Pixel 5 turns on Night Sight automatically. On a Pixel 3a Night Sight can take up to 7 seconds in extreme low-light conditions and leads to slightly blurry photos, if you don't stop breathing for 7 seconds. In my case sometimes even the astro mode turns on although I don't use a tripod. In the Pixel 5 youtube review of Engadget they show the Pixel 5 Night Sight mode and I measured that it took approximately ≈6.5 seconds. Really, that's unacceptable, when you consider that you usually even need to take the photo again due to the lack of sharpness. As far as I know Apple's night mode usually takes 1s or maybe 3s. The Pixel 3a's HDR+ enhanced mode is nothing else than a fast Night Sight mode (takes up to 2.5 seconds, or 4s if you zoom) if you use exposure compensation and it produces sharper/better photos due to using a slightly shorter 1/5s exposure time per frame, but the Pixel 4 and apparently the Pixel 5 don't have it.
Recently, I upgraded from my P2XL to the 4XL and couldn't be happier. I just couldn't justify the $700 price point for the P5. Thanks for this. I've been deciding between the 5 and selling my XL mainly due to masks and face unlock. Decided I'll stick with the XL even with the sweet BOSE deal in the UK because I use zoom loads more and all ultra wide cameras always look worse. Also the speakers on the 5 aren't balanced and I watch a lot of UA-cam!
The ability to snap much faster pictures along with the telephoto is more useful to me than the video. Overall, Pixel 4XL has the bigger display with more PPI, much better speakers (not even close), better processor, face unlock, and Project Soli if you care about that. Very u usual for the previous generation model of any phone have that many advantages over the new one. If you have a 4XL it makes absolutely no sense to spend any money on a 5.

They removed the face unlock (face unlock has been great), active edge, screen is 6" in and not at least 6.3". Yeah they lowered the price a bit by $100 from last year's Pixel 4, but they also took away some items that some may have really liked. Every year should be an upgrade not a questionable one. Ok you get 128GB as standard storage no more 64GB which is good. A little bigger battery, but I never had a problem with the 4XL battery. You get 2 more GB's of RAM. of course you get 5G but that is still limited to certain areas and not fully really the norm yet. Also what will they be coming out with for next spring or summer will there be a 5A with a larger screen. I guess they made the 4A 5G with a larger screen for those who may have had a 4XL or 3XL wanting 5G. But you also lose a few other features like no wireless charging and no IP68, and two less GB's of RAM. Every year Google is interesting with whatever they do. people that buy these phones every year know what these phones are about, it's more about the software experience and the quick updates and should there be any issues Google is usually on it pretty quickly the resolve. But this year's phone lineup is ore questionable. The Pixel 5 should have come in at $599 or $649 max with the loss of some features from last year's model.

I like the quick start bro, straight to the topic, perhaps in the future, you can test both cameras alone, they don't have to be inside a split screen, because i want to see the camera in horizontal position filling the whole screen
How do they do with motion in photos? My samsung s20+ is horrible . If you have kids any movement from them it makes it blurry where my old google pixel 3xl was mazing would catch it as it was in that moment caught every droplet of water when my son was in the pool

@@jkidd7608 pixel 4a 5G is the deal, pixel 5 is a good phone, but not worth 699. If you can get it discounted then go for it. iPhone 12 destroys this phone in every aspect IMO.
Pixel 4xl potrait mode better maybe bcoz of that telephoto.
P5 saturated a bit too much & sometimes make a face a bit darker. I never like the ultra wide in any pixel phones. It's not good. P4xl have a 2019 flagship 855 chipset. Front & back is glass built & a bigger size phone...& cheaper of course. I think I stick to my P4xl for now.
Nice information
Thanks brother
Do you think it's worth upgrading from the pixel 4xl to the 5...?
No
Got my Pixel 5 arriving tomorrow. £599. Upgrading from Pixel 2XL. Cheaper than US version because of different 5g bands.
Great comparison keep up
Thanks so much
WHich camera/video is better pixel 5 or pixel 4a
I really want to see a comparison of the actual astrophotography capabilities between the two phones
3:23 (was cloudy)
@@AuthenTech I meant going to a low light pollution area to compare how the Pixel 5 can achieve astrophotography as opposed to its predecessor
Quality content as always!
Much appreciated!
I like the quick start bro, straight to the topic, perhaps in the future, you can test both cameras alone, they don't have to be inside a split screen, because i want to see the camera in horizontal position filling the whole screen
Nice comparison video. I always watch bottom screen if any blur every comparison picture or video.
nice video broo ❣️
we want the gcam mode with portrait night and more.... for pixel 3 😥
I’m so confused the pixel 4 doesn’t actually sound like that does it?
"...we have Pixel 5 at home"
Pixel 5 at home:
This is MY camera comparison test of the new Google Pixel 5 versus last year’s GGjFjJfjfJfzjfzrhffjzfxkhcuxhzgHfJfJgzjgzkgz!
I want a move in from p30 pro to pixel 5 should i do?
Nice comparison
Honestly the Pixel 4 photos look consistently better. Pixel 5 wins on video.
Nice compact design and good camera 👌
Wow scenes in pics ... awesome place 👍👍👍
Wish they can include both telephoto and wide angle lenses on the pixel 6
Pixel 4XL is also great though
How do they do with motion in photos? My samsung s20+ is horrible . If you have kids any movement from them it makes it blurry where my old google pixel 3xl was mazing would catch it as it was in that moment caught every droplet of water when my son was in the pool
I have the PIXEL 4 XL i will stick with that. I don't like the smaller screen. If they would of added a 3rd telescope lens and kept the phone the same size, kept the old processer and features along with new features even if it would of costed more I would of went for it. I can't make myself spend money for a downgrade.
Great comparison
Thanks!
