Dear Elysia, i just had another thought- suggestion if i may. Consider putting a small garage door at one end of the building with a sort of loading dock. Will be so helpful as you grow the box business. Hugs 💞

Plumb it with a french drain for grey water sink(like for rinsing brushes and hand washing) and run it off of solar panels that you can get a sponsorship for. Then you will still have access in your big house to a potty but won't have to get permits. Just a thought. You will love having it on the property where you spend all your time. Plus, you will be able to use it all winter if it's closer to your own front door. You won't have to worry about snow removal there, and can use space heaters until you can put a stove in.
Now it makes perfect sense to me! Getting the electric brought to the cottage studio, fixing up the outside will move along rather quickly because the elements are already there. You can then turn your attention to your barn build and get that completed before the weather turns. Plumbing at the cottage and roofing and then you can work on the inside of the cottage which should be relatively easy (compared to building a home/cottage). The name of your studio could be so many different names too. Little Design Cottage, Elisha English Design Cottage, DIY Design Cottage-the possibilities are endless. You will be incredibly busy the next few months indeed.

@@melodytwitchell4898 IMHO, the white trim is too stark a contrast. Since she’s having a terracotta color for the roof, maybe her mustard yellow for the door and (my proposed) shutters on either side of the door, leaving the black trim to break it up. Like I said, just my opinion 😊

Just perfect! Seriously, the building looks more a part of the surrounding landscape instead of a giant marshmallow in a green salad. How great will it be to have a dedicated space for your new crafting venture. I would include a cozy corner in there somewhere for relaxing, taking a break, and clearing your mind. Hummmm, fresh air and some "me time"!
I’m always bringing heavy things home. I’m 5’3” and my pickup is high off the ground. I open the tailgate, turn the piece on its side so it will slide and not get caught on somethingI. It’s important to the lean it on the front edge of tailgate. I usually put it on a heavy blanket so it’s doesn’t get scratched and it slides easier. I tip it up and slide it in. Unloading is the same. Pull it to the end of the bed, tip it down and lower to the ground.
I was thinking that the front of the house needs something? Also you could plant an area with wildflowers. I’m older and haven’t kept up with my landscaping. It occurred to me that I should plant wildflowers in some of it. It wouldn’t require a lot of maintenance and it is a great habitat for butterflies and other animals. It would look pretty. I imagine myself sitting on my patio, with my morning coffee and have them to look at instead of weeds.
Sooooo exciting to use the cottage as a studio/ business space. Perfect solution … so you don’t have to clutter up your living space with all your creative projects. (And you can take tax deductions for your property!!!! As a business expense) Really excited to see all your new projects and ideas!
