Hi Todd... Really interested to see what you can do with that interior and what it will look like when you're finished... When I have finished my front suspension, I will be following you on the interior. Cheers and keep up the good work! Neil.
Hey Neil, thanks! You are doing Sterling work with that suspension :)
400! That is outstanding! Amazing! I'm sorting my interior now as well.
Hey TT - its tricky pricing something like this. Many of the items I already have, and the driver seat will require a lot of attention. But I was fairly happy :)
I would recommend either replacing or making sure the nylon bushings/guides on the window regulators are good while you have the door cards off. They will require pressing in, but the windows can “fall” if they’re overly worn. Also, as you noted, you are missing the nylon insert for the hatch receiver.
Ah yes, forgot about those. I’ll have the motors out again since the passenger side one is a little lazy….
For the turn signal cancellation. You can apply tape to the pin on the steering wheel that will help contact the stalk and cancel turn signal
Thanks for that. I need to take the wheel off and check the horn ring is installed correctly, apparently it can be backwards
Absolutely love the sensitive interior resto plans. It's going to be such a lovely usable classic when you're finished
Fingers crossed! :)
Roger does a very good alternative to the outside window scraper that includes little curved plastic bits that fit inside the rubber to make it follow the curve of the door. Much cheaper than the real thing and looks perfect.
Also I just straightened my headliner, 10 minutes to remove. I replaced all the clips and used a layer of resin and fiberglass to take the warps out of it.
Thanks Gaz, will check it out. Problem is always the shipping and import tax
I used the ones from Roger also.
Great video on the interior journey you're about to undertake
Our paths will cross at some points as I tinker on mine to get certain not working bits sorted
Some small differences between your '79 and my '82 same model I noticed in your walk around
Hi Pieter, thanks, yes they changed little bits and bobs across the years.
Nice update!!
You should consider getting the re-issued Blaupunkt Bluetooth headunits for this car. One is an 80's reissue and the other is a 90's reissue. Both would l99k great in your car.
I have the 80's reissue and plan on getting the 90's reissue, too. They match the interiors of so.many 80's and 90's cars. These post 00's adtrrmarket headunits are too gaudy.
Great idea Andy, thanks for that!
@@MrToddgibbsTodd, if you would prefer a period correct vintage radio I can recommend Chrome London. They have the correct units for sale, refurbished and working (not cheap!) and there is the added option of hidden bluetooth and such.
Thanks Alexander, will check them out
Have the steering wheel professionally recovered. I spent about $250
Yes, just spoke to a friend about it who said that same. Will get it done
this Porsche has already lost your shoelaces😀
Lol not sure what that means… but my shoes don’t have shoe laces :)
Cost to replace this interior = $10,000. Cost of decent 928 with good interior = $10,000.
Lol so true. Apart from “cost for Todd to do interior £1000”
