Thanks Sam. I always enjoy doing videos with Will. We have lots of projects in house right now. I'm sure we'll have the chance to do something again in the future.
Dave's team did my seats in tan leather with 3 color pepita, fantastic job! Even included an extra back bolster on the drivers seat. Will, these will be perfect in your '76
Thank you, very cool to learn more about the upholstery intricacies from the craftsman himself. Would love to see more of the actual fabrication process in a future presentation. Much enjoyed, thank you again, you have a truely unique and particular angle to Porsche sportscar ownership and related responsibilties. Also, it's great you bring us with you 👍 Naturally, a like added to the count.
Thanks for the information. I'm actually looking at some seat recovering for my 993 at this time. I did not realize the intricacies of seat work, and I am really into the details. I have seen some Porsche leather seat covers from 1k to $2600, then still have to have a shop install the covers. So, if I understand correctly, this man will copy the exact pattern of Porsche with the correct leather and other materials. So, you are paying more for labor, but you are not spending money on "covers". Also, good idea to over buy material, I didn't think of that.
Very interesting and useful video. I’m in the process of restoring 2 other marques (here in Kuala Lumpur) but this helped me make up my mind of the details involved in restoring seats and the rest of the interiors to factory perfect detail. It’s quite a science. Thanks!
@@Rennthusiast it certainly was! I’m waiting delivery of a 1986 911 Targa SSE from the UK. Should be here in the next couple of weeks…. will probably revisit your videos on upgrades. Particularly interested in getting the best out of the 915 transmission. Mine apparently has been rebuilt and comes with a Wevo shift kit. I saw that you recommend another shift kit - rennshift(sp?).
Wow, I am speechless by the transformation of these Recaro seats!! They looks so much better than the sports factory seats! What’s an order of magnitude of the price for this transformation? Congrats Will! 🎉
Need to do a repair on driver seat in my 79' 930 and I want to use Alcantara for the inserts. The upper side bolster is bad so I'm appreciative about finding a shop. I had it looked at by a shop and they quoted me 1000$ for the job.
Gorgeous seating. You know, I think that leather continuation band across with the Recaro branding would've looked sharp if just that band was in perforated leather with the bolsters and exterior in smooth, just an opinion, regardless, absolutely stunning. Always loved the Pepita, Tartan, and Houndstooth centers. (Edit) and a side note/question as this is the second video I've seen of this build/refresh (first was the engine and transmission out), are you/did you put the Tartan on portions of the door cards as well as the rear seats, or just the front seats?
Sonderwerks did a beautiful job. He is correct in stating that the upholstery shop needs to specialize in Porsche/Recarro seats. The pucker is evident, and the money is well spent to get a perfect job since that's what shows every and all the time you are in the car.
Thanks! I agree. They did a solid job. I am excited to get these into the car, but I have some mechanical tasks to take car of first before I deal with the nice to haves.
Surprised you didn’t mention the history when he said all Porsche seats are Recaros. Porsche originally contracted Reutter to build the 356 bodies when they moved back to Stuttgart from Gmund. They ended up buying the bodybuilding side of the business in 1963 and the remainder concentrated on car seats and was renamed Recaro.
The mid year 911 Recaro seat in the video has been previously recovered by a shop that wasn't as concerned about faithfully recreating the original. The perforation pattern was incorrect for this style and year of Porsche.
Great vid Will, love those seats. In typical "Will" fashion, you sorted those seats perfectly. Love the channel, can't wait for the next one...
I’m in the Uphokstery business and I can appreciate this shop / work. Thanks for sharing
Damn those seats look sharp! Great choice Will!
Those Porsche Heritage seats with the herringbone inserts look amazing! 😎
beautiful result .. bring Dave back !!

great teamwork on this video guys. awesome business and end results

Beautiful seats . 🥹
Amazing work 👌🏼👌🏼
Great video to showcase the work and wisdom of a craftsman. And your seats look perfect👌
Thank you kindly
Your new seats look amazing. I love the band.
Thanks!
Beautiful work Dave! You both made excellent choices. It will look spectacular in the 911.

You’re correct. Good luck!

Beautiful seats. Great decision on keeping the Recaro branding.
great vid & subject matter , very interesting.
Thx!
Those turned out great! ❤❤❤
And he's sporting a Swatch X Omega Bioceramic Moonswatch!
Gift from my wife at Christmas. A cool collaboration between the brands.
@@sonderwerks I agree, well done David's wife! The new watch collab is Porsche X Garmin!

Did I miss the info on this seat cover maker?
Can you put a link of this custom seat maker website?
Google Sonderwerks
@@Rennthusiast thank you so much!
I have a 76 too and seats need work. In CT. I have not found any good shops. Suggestions? Rough costs? Thx
Give Sonderwerks a call. They can build and ship seats.

What is the recommended minimum fabric weight in gsm (gram / square meters) ?
Not sure. I would go to Scottish weaver and ask them or another automotive fabric provider.

Interesting. Didn’t know that, the history of these cars and the topics that touch them is so deep.
That's interesting.. so he is saying that the dimensions of the perforation in an early 70's seat is the same as what they put in the later cars?

911SC headlights
how much those seats cost?
Reach out to Sonderwerks in Charlotte, NC, ask for Dave and he can talk with you about it.
I wont ever replace mine since they dont exist!
