Spotify threw this at me algorithmically and I love it. It's funky, it's wild, it's a little sinister but joyous at the same time. I wasn't familiar with Dear Hunter, but finding out that this song exists as part of a six-album story cycle that mostly sounds nothing like it has me excited to give Act 1 a try as a big fan of rock opera.
So, 2 years later, i presume you checked out the act 1, didn't really get hooked, but gave act 2 a chance and immediately fell in love with this band? And now at least yearly you listen to all of the acts and catch another little musical reprise that you didnt catch on previous listens and mumble to yourself "fucking Casey you sly devil" under your nose? There is no other way.
Ok ok, gotta say the first time I heard this song I started laughing not because it was bad but just because it was so out of the dear hunter norm. Now I freaken love this song.
The first time I listened to this album I put it on with my best headphones and lay in the dark just taking in the music until this song came on. I almost fell off my bed laughing, and had to get up and check to make sure I hadn't screwed up the playlist or stumbled into an alternate dimension. :P
King of Swords and All Goes Well is the perfect song set for someone with manic-depressive tendencies who's on an upswing, where everything seems to be going perfectly, and they've got grand ambitions that things are going to work out SO differently this time despite countless failures in the past- In other words, it's the perfect song set for me right now :B
this is just further proof, in my opinion, that the Dear Hunter's versatility is unmatched in the world of modern progressive rock. And , like a lot of others at first, I was pretty taken aback. but now, it puts a big fat smile on my face and is one of my favourite tunes of theirs. Music is magical
Adam Coyne I would suggest you give Thank You Scientist a chance. They were my favorite band before I discovered dear hunter recently. Although I will admit their versatility doesn't QUITE match that of TDH.
There's a brazillian band that is absolutely versatile, its called "el efecto". Their last album "memórias do fogo", uses elements of samba, bossa nova, hip hop, classical music, raggae, chinese music, yoruba and pagode (witch is a mix of samba, axé and funk). You should check it out
This put the biggest smile on my face when I heard it pop up as I was nodding along seriously to Act IV. I love many different styles of music, and The Dear Hunter have an eclecticism I can really relate to.
+MrMcDroid As soon as I first found out about this album I immediately put my screensaver on, turned off the lights, and settled in to just soak in the music. When this song came on I burst out laughing. I soon realized that Casey has slowly turned into this strange amalgam of a progressive musician, classical composer, and pop star. Somehow, it all works together organically. I'm starting to think you could lock him in your average kitchen for two days with a tape recorder and he'd walk out of there with a good album.
+Cameron Worgan I love the fact that I can go to the comment section on almost any deer hunter song and see at least 1 comment for Coheed and Cambria. Also it's the same if roles were swaped. Both bands are by far my favourite
Ive been listening straight through from act 1 to this moment. 😎 the story thats being painted had me gripping at strings of sadness. Then this hit me. 🤩
Also, in addition to my other comment. I feel like I’m in for a good surprise. This is the first The Dear Hunter song I am hearing. And this is apparently uncharacteristic? I’m in for a treat. After this song, I’m excited to hear what else this band has to offer.
Only song that sounds like this. I love how they make their regular prog rock. Go into an opera for some openings. And then do this funky song. And in act 5 their super unnecessary jazz song Mr usher
you guys don't get it? The "un-dear hunter song", almost popish, is on purporse. This song, if analyzed separately from the album, is satire about the unhealty side of pop culture
It's also very flashy and poppy because it mirrors (while telling about) Hunter's run for governor. He tailors himself to appeal to the general public, just like this song is, well, pop.
I still can't believe how different this song is, and that is so weird, because The Dear Hunter's music is all super different, like Lillian and Mustard Gas are nothing alike, like in comparison, their music is all different from each other, but this one some how is so much farther from it all. It's great!
Am I the only one heqrs St. Vincent in this? First I thought it was a sample from Digital Witness, but on closer inspection... the melodies are nothing alike.

@@migueldemoina This is the way.
@@migueldemoina yesssss
@@migueldemoina I acc got into this band listening to Act 1 (it is the weakest out of them all though, except maybe 3 but I love them all tbh).

It just proves how this guy is a genious. Country, eletronic, heavy, pop... we've seen it all in The dear Hunter. And it's all excellent!

I love the sudden change of atmosphere in this album. It's so weird in a good way.

+MrMcDroid It took an unexpected turn, but god, was it ever good! It's not unlike what Number City was to Coheed & Cambria's The Afterman
+TheGuyThatDoesTheThing you probably thought the same about The Squeaky wheel and If All Goes Well or not?

my sister sent me this album over spotify and i fell in love with this song!

His fav band is ELO. Nothing is off limits.
Thought this song was happy at first until you get into the lyrics. You know shit is about to go down :) Only casey can bring Disco back!
Why am I just finding this band? This is majestic.
I came here for tarot. I just gave myself a reading. And I hear this. I LOVE IT!! 😃😃😃
What did you glean from it?
Listening to this album through and this song came outa nowhere. xD Nice.
This is SOOO not Dear Hunter's normal direction but its fucken awesome so 80's!! :D
+rjstanley89 I'm thinking more of a 70's vibe, the whole disco balls and afros kind of music, ya know?
+Reige17 burning down the house
Reige17 This is FOR SURE some disco rock.
Aw hellz ya!
Thanks to Spotify Algorithm I could find this amazing song c:
Really puts me in the groove XD
the true definition of a bop
This song live kicks SO much ass.
I'm pretty sure I found this from a reigen playlist. now it's stuck in my head
Shine bright, circus man.
Raise your hands if you are going to see these guys tomorrow night in Akron, Ohio with Chon!
"Raises Hand" - Me
+Rob “Ribetty” Rando
Just saw them with Chon and Gates yesterday it was awesome!
I just got back from the Austin show, there was a disco ball to add to the whole funky effect it was amazing
Umphrey's McGee vibes. Dig it.
Banger
This sounds SOOOOOO MUCH like a never released Robbie Williams single. I swear It's straight out of his "Intensive Care" Album.
I C O N I C
Ghostbusters theme song part 2
Spooky

I hear Talking heads
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so
Might be why I love this song so much then. Talking Heads is one of my favorite bands
Montage Tune
Vary nais
Mash it up with some Franz Fertinand.
reminds me of "Do You Wanna"
This is like a way better version of Talking Heads. Opinion of course lol nothing against them just musically and vocally doesn’t stand a chance.
The Dear Hunter's disco song is better than Megadeth's disco song
sell this song to bruno mars. Make milliongs
This reminds me of the opening for Space Dandy and I love it so goddamn much.
+kedd He's a dandy guy, in space...
MrAran551 I would love a mash up/remix? omfg
