Got hooked on The Protomen from this song... My only regret is I haven't listened to them sooner. Please let TWRP and The Protomen tour together next year 😁🤞🤞
yea, they are amazing!! i highly recommend going through the albums and having lyrics open on anouther page or whatnot. for some of their songs where its just music, or there are low points, there is story written for it.
I always like to imagine this song as F-Zero. Just how fast paced it is and how brutal F-Zero really is. I imagine Captain Falcon is killing off all of these racers for bounty, as he is a bounty hunter. If I ever had the chance to animate something it would be this. So many ideas.
I haven't seen anyone mention this yet, so I gotta say it. How freaking appropriate is it that they got The Protomen to collab on this one? We have a song here that is clearly a homage to Racer X from Speed Racer, a character which defined the "mysterious rival that's actually a long lost brother" trope that Capcom homaged when creating Protoman! We've come full circle here people!
I have been absolutely obsessed with The Protomen, they’ve redefined my music taste, and now that I know about this song, TWRP is getting added to my obsession list

This really should be a lyrics video :D Arin announcing is the best thing. The part when he says 'CHASED BY THE DEVIL HIMSELF! IN AN INCREDIBLE BURST OF SPEED' fills me with adrenaline!!
Hearing this live at Florida was an absolutely INCREDIBLE finisher. I still think that all night forever was a perfect finish, but I was still happy to hear both bands singing this.
I first heard of The Protomen when they opened for Tenacious D, where Jack claimed they were part of the D army. I've been waiting for him to say that about TWRP for so lng
The races are corrupt and everyone but the wannabe stars knows it. The top ten racers have been deciding who wins every year for ages now and any contender who manages to get there by pure skill gets taken out before they finish their second lap. The races have always been dangerous so nobodies held liable for the occasional accidental death. Just look at last year when they took out that home grown hero who'd made it all the way through the minor leagues in just a year and a half to challenge the big boys. He never even knew what hit him when they slammed him into that wall. Killed that kids dreams and thought they killed the rest of him to, turns out they thought wrong. Sure a burning wreck doesn't leave a lot of room for recovery but when you have that passion for the sport and a bloodlust based in revenge for being cheated out of a legitimate victory it's amazing what you can overcome. Now hes back to show them real racing and get even. No matter how good they are at rigging the game against poor kids who still believe they can't stand up to someone with real skills and a deathwish.
So I’m high and a bit way too into this song right now, but I have a theory that the Phantom Racer is actually evil. Just a success-hungry jerk who lost his life because of a reckless attempt to win and refuses to accept his loss and move on. Something about his last line “I was born to race and I will die to win” just clicks with me in that way. Like the other racers are *terrified* (“I’ve got to slow down, the needle’s in the red”) and this guy just doesn’t care. No sympathy, no forgiveness. I love the idea of him being a horrific “justice” no one deserved.
I made one of the major NPCs of my spelljammer DND campaign based off this song, Redline, F-Zero, and Speed Racer's Racer X and Protoman himself but this song was the main inspiration and they're one of my favorite characters
Out of things i was expecting. It was not a protomen colab with TWRP. I didnt even know the Protomen still played i used to listen to a couple of their albums nearly daily a few years ago.
I’m angry at myself for not coming across this song sooner. It’s fucking beautiful. Its glory makes me want to cry. I can feel the mystery drivers anger and despair through that amazing singing. And the bit where the announcer is describing the impending crash gives me chills. The music is perfect the whole way though. Well done.

Saw these guys a couple days ago in buffalo and during this song, Doctor Sung turned to Raul Panther iii and said "But I cant help but feel like this Lead Singer looks familiar..." and everyone lost it lmao
Listening to this song makes me wonder, if in an actual racing event like NASCAR, what would the race organizers do if an unauthorized car suddenly entered the race and started wiping out the other drivers? What security measures do they have to prevent something like that from happening?
You know the best part about it? If a car could get onto the track somehow then there's factually nothing they can do until the car would need to pit. Without a pit crew he'd have maybe 4 or 5 F1 laps to take ALL 20 positions out. That's nuts, like I dont know if Senna could even pull that off
Brynn Sparrow damn you’re right (didn’t see the guys age), well he sounds exactly alike, which is very high praise, wishing I knew who did the voice over Ridge Racer now.
I've seen both bands at MAGFest; I've even been their camera operator during their sessions at MAGFest before. I love both of these bands so much, and they ABSOLUTELY need to do a collab album now.

I listen to this in my Prius going 20 under the speed limit on a busy one lane road.
Can't get enough of this song while I'm driving
I was obsessed with this album for a whole month and loved every second of it.
This is so emotionally charged and powerful, that to call this a song is a disservice. THIS IS ART
It always pumps me up when I'm working out, I hope I don't get tired of it.
Another song worthy of an anime. You guys are sitting on a friggen untapped gold mine. Get your fancy animators on this, stat!
I made one of the major NPCs of my spelljammer DND campaign based off this song, Redline, F-Zero, and Speed Racer's Racer X and Protoman himself but this song was the main inspiration and they're one of my favorite characters
Starlight Brigade is great, but for my money this is the true highlight of the album.
Why have i only just discovered this song? It's amazing!
Out of things i was expecting. It was not a protomen colab with TWRP. I didnt even know the Protomen still played i used to listen to a couple of their albums nearly daily a few years ago.
Desume dude, act 3 is right around the corner
TWRP, the night flight orchestra, thunder mother....
3 amazing, AMAZING underrated bands. common, listen to this song!
This song is pretty dang epic I gotta say
I’m angry at myself for not coming across this song sooner. It’s fucking beautiful. Its glory makes me want to cry. I can feel the mystery drivers anger and despair through that amazing singing. And the bit where the announcer is describing the impending crash gives me chills. The music is perfect the whole way though. Well done.
And they say Infinity War was the most ambitious crossover event of all time
So amazing how this turned from an instrumental to a song with lyrics.
~announcer: It’s a beautiful evening here as we get ready to start the race. The drivers are at the line and it looks like we’re almost set. Racers, start your engines. Go! ~
I can't slow down this time
I gotta rev it up and go
I gotta keep it in the lines
Tonight there's blood on the road
I keep the pedal down
They’re gonna know how this felt
No one gets in to heaven without racing through hell
Eye for eye, lap for lap
There's no turning back
(You’ve got to slow down)
Feels like my blood is running hot
(The needle’s in the red)
Give me everything you got
I can't escape the blood and steel
A death behind the wheel!
~announcer: I can’t believe what I’m seeing! In a shocking turn of events the mystery car seems to be picking off each racer one by one. I wouldn’t want to be out on that track tonight. This driver is out for blood.~
I’m burnin’ up the road
I got ‘em dead in my sight
And when the rubber meets the bone
There’ll be vengeance tonight
Hear the crowd roar
Calling for blood
Begging for more
(Faster)
I can hear my heart beatin
(Faster)
Like a piston in my chest
(Faster)
I’m a phantom racer, justice in a steel machine of death
(Faster)
I’ll be right behind you
(Faster)
Over and over again
(Faster)
I was born to race
(Faster)
I would die to win
~Announcer: We’re down to just two cars now! Like a man possessed he’s murdered every other racer and seems to be zeroing in on first place! The remaining car is speeding down this straight away like he’s being chased by the devil himself. In an incredible burst of speed the mystery driver has rammed the first place car from behind and seems to be pushing him forward! The lead racer is clearly slamming on the brakes, but the two of them show no signs of slowing down at all! There’s no way they can make this next turn in time, I can’t bare to watch!
Out of the flames comes the mystery driver. I don’t know how he survived that horrible crash, or where he’s going to next, but I can’t help thinking there’s something strangely familiar about that car… ~

I can hear my heart beatin’

Over and over again
(Faster)

(Faster)
I would die to win
(Faster)
Yes I’m a phantom racer, inside a steel machine of death
(Faster, born to race, phantom baby)
And I would die to win
One of my favourite TWRP songs.
I would kill for Knights of the Light Table (they're the animators of Starlight Brigade, right?) to animate a video for this.
I was thinking about this
A little late coming into the fandom but this is such a badass song. Its giving me The Tubes kind of vibes with the storytelling.
glad to have you fellow conehead
Saw these guys a couple days ago in buffalo and during this song, Doctor Sung turned to Raul Panther iii and said "But I cant help but feel like this Lead Singer looks familiar..." and everyone lost it lmao
I got to see this song live. Life changing experience.
That's nuts, like I dont know if Senna could even pull that off
They would either red flag or black flag the race. Everyone would stop.
@@Spacek531 and then get killed lol
Props to that slick narrator, you go man. Also love the song
Kitty Kat The narrator is Egoraptor!
I had a hunch, god bless that man
@@CWINDOWSsystem32 He did the voice over for the PS1 game Ridge Racer as well, I knew I recognised that voice.
@@angelofmalice0 That's someone else. He would've been like 12 when the last Ridge Racer game for the PS1 released.
Brynn Sparrow damn you’re right (didn’t see the guys age), well he sounds exactly alike, which is very high praise, wishing I knew who did the voice over Ridge Racer now.
ON THAT NOTIFICATION BOI
Arin Hanson, TWRP, and The Protomen? This song combo is BUCKWILD.
My second favourite song in this album
The Handful
What’s your favorite?
Pets is so good. Gets me every time
I'm so upset that I won't be able to go to the TWRP/Protomen show in Dallas. If they're gonna play this, I'd be in the front singing my heart out.
This is the theme song of the Stig.
I've seen both bands at MAGFest; I've even been their camera operator during their sessions at MAGFest before. I love both of these bands so much, and they ABSOLUTELY need to do a collab album now.
For the love of God!
DO MORE OF THIS!
Protomen, twrp, Arin!
I'm currently playing Skifree while listening to this...
And I've gotta say...I'm having a great time
Please tell me there's going to be a future concert of The Protomen, NSP, and TWRP.
And egoraptor
I can't believe this only came out in May. I feel like I've always known this song.
This track is the leader of the pack! Best song on the album.
TWRP *AND* THE PROTOMEN?! HOW HAVE I NOT FOUND THIS SOONER?!
If there is ever a sonic adventure 3 this is the theme for the first level
This is by far my favorite song ever. I can't stop listening to it!!!!!!!
If this gets animated the Phantom Racer's car needs to look like a cross between the Batmobile and the Mach 5 but with F-Zero aesthetics.
But which batmobile?
Holy CRAP this song is so good it blew my mind. HOW HAVE I NOT HEARD OF THESE GUYS BEFORE? (They are touring with The Protomen and I wanted to hear them)
The best song of the album in my opinion!! I love it so much, you should really make it into a music video, I get such an initial D vibe from it
I casually hit 130mph with this song playing...need to take it off the playlist
I did not expect this but i'm not complaining!
i love this so much, like, this is the most 80s thing I've witnessed in a long time
