Run an OM606 with EDC pump without a controller

How to start and run a Mercedes Benz OM606 engine with the stock EDC pump, without any kind of ECU or controller. This is useful when you want to test an engine before doing anything to the EDC pump.

Yes same as a carburetor just has to hold it at 500rpms to idle building a 97 ford ranger and this video helped me run it with no ecm at all

Return line thinner than delivery line due to combustion of fuel in engine.

Yes, there's less fuel returning to the tank due to consumption but there's no physical limitation requiring the return plumbing to be smaller in diameter as questioned by the OP. Most likely just a money saving application for MB.

​@joebanks3698 best to have a restriction on return else you can have running problems, the banjos bolt from the pump has a restricted orifice.
