I have a purple Xperia 1 I purchased 2 weeks ago and to say, it is a mind blowing phone is an understatement. Could not be happier at how amazing it is.
just ordered mine. gotta wait 6 more days to get it. i thought about going with the 5 for the little better battery life but comments from most people who have the 1 say the battery life is fine anyhow.
If priced right. This Xperia 5 is a good choice.

on ebay the xperia 5 cost as much as $100 bucks more than the xperia 1
Thanks for showing the both phones next to each other so I know how they compare in size. Not a big difference. I wish Xperia 5 was 5.3 inches! That would be a true compact!
What are you talking??? Both has eye focus.. Ps4 remote is already in all sony phone already.. Mine x compact already with ps4 remote thingy and I think xperia 5 is to budget and smaller screen size and lower res
Do you know if the Xperia 5 has the some kind of battery life saving software I'm pretty sure in the Xperia 1 it decreases permanent damage to the battery. If the Xperia 5 has that then I want it.
Right now my phone, google pixel 1, dies at 100% battery live in other words anytime it's not charging. I believe that Xperia software basically stops that from happening.

Hope sony make smaller one with 5,5" 1080 display with same design, more affordable compact phone
5.5 is incredibly tiny done. You could look at the xpera xz2, xz2 premium or the xz3 (the order being from worst to best) they are not 5.5. They are actually 5.8 but the screen is manageable they have 1080p and if you don't care about having the latest features. Give them a try they are both good phones
@ebisumaru very true. I forgot about the xz2 compact. That being said most experia phones below that are a little outdated. So for the higher range that's also compact... Well xz2 compact is probably the best option out there

i got black xperia 1 because i dont like the other colours maybe its just me
I'm still using XZ1, and my dad has XZ. Still running strong and very tough phones, can get dropped alot. I might get Xperia 1 or 5 soon. I guess I would prefer slightly smaller for one handed use.
Used to use xz1 move to xz2p and then xperia 1, i hate everything about xperia 1, xz1 still the best

@@SteelZ06almost perfect.. with curve back, hard to attach cooler for gaming and attachable lens, i don't think it perfect, at least for me.

@@SteelZ06 if you want to buy Xperia solely for camera, i prefer you buy pixel phone.. Xperia phone good at every aspect (all around performance) but they didn't win if we compare one by one aspect

the xperia 5 backglass is flat the xperia 1 has a curved glass back the xperia 5 is flatter and it looks so much better
@ubu 9 no the xperia 1 has a slightly curved back where the 5 is completely flat, the 1 has a curved backglass

I have found that both of these phones retail now at the same price
In the USA, the Xperia 1 is selling for 799 USD.
X5 is a tough sell with the X1 prices dropping as they are.

Why Sony could make the biggest come back in the phone market is that between Samsung and Apple they both release the same thing every year
Its between samsung and Huawei, apple got knocked off its nr 2 slot by Huawei, and apple has been in a sales decline since for most well kinda all of 2019.

4k is pointless on mobiles
Don't need 4k on mobiles as it's just a battery killer also the phone comes with a usb-c/jack adapter lead so aux is still possible

Sony Xperia 1 software
The only difference is that the display of the Xperia 1 is 4K while the Xperia 5 is 2K even if it's a newer model is basically a downgrade from Xperia 1, also the battery life is bad at best on both models, I'm not going with Sony yet, it seems like they need to get their shit together on the smartphone area before I'm getting one, 3330mAh battery on phone with a 6.5" 4K display ?What a joke...

Xperia 1's 3300 mAh battery lasts long as other brands 4000 mAh batteries, so it's not that bad at all. I've owned Xperia 1 since launch.

Oneplus pro 7 is cheaper and has better spec's. Sony Xperia should step up it's game

Thought it was a fault and spoke to my provider who sent out a brand new one to only have the same issue. Then I called Sony. And they said theres are all like it at hq. After googling it while on the phone with them turns out all oled screens do it across all maps of phones... Well gutted
