Maybe if we send him weird musical stuff and he makes a song out of 2-3 items. It would make the audience participate and drop the cost of the video he could even make a contest to win them after.
Anyone interested in this experiment should check out the album “Gizmodgery” by Self. An entire album composed on toy instruments. More of it works than you’d think.
Canjos sound really good when they are electric, because of the natural distortion from the metal can. The electric version of the one in the video is about 10 extra dollars, and worth every cent. Sounds metal AF.
It literally doesn’t make a difference, I made relatively child friendly content and still received comments from the bots, even tho the channel is relatively small

I think the coolest musical thing I ever saw on Etsy was a Spamp, which was pretty much a guitar amp built into a spam container. It was pretty ingenious and had some killer sound modes
Sorry to hear it! It reminds me of some friends of mine who were given a Cookie Monster toy that had a maniac laugh. They got fed up of it, put it in the attic and forgot about it until one night it randomly started laughing and scared the shit out of them. They couldn’t find it for ages either..
1:58 But you know **how** plumbuses are made?! First, you take the dinglepop, and you smooth it out with a bunch of schleem. The schleem is then... repurposed for later batches. Then you take the dinglebop and push it through the grumbo, where the fleeb is rubbed against it. It's important that the fleeb is rubbed, because the fleeb has all of the fleeb juice. Then a... That leaves you, with a regular old plumbus!
Sounds like a song from some desert town in an older, korean MMORPG. The electronic drums combined with the fuzzy guitar + the canjo gave it a very cool vibe, while the kalimba rounded it off. The furby was...Also there, and made it that extra bit weird. I LOVE IT. Seriously, that was an awesome song! I'd *love* to see you make this concept into a series.
This was hilarious dude, and the song didn’t even sound terrible. I think you should definitely do this again, maybe try to find some more strange home made instruments that are unlike any common modern day instruments
Am I the only one who was genuinely shocked by how good that song was? I was confident that anything made with those tools was going to be at best slightly better harsh noise. That canjo sounded insanely good! I'd definitely be down to see this again!
The bellowing wail, from the depths of his soul, actually made me laugh out loud (which is pretty hard to do) especially the way you said it. So, thank you Mr. Guitar Man! Edit: Damn Sammy! That was an awesome tune! Why in the hell was furby's head pixelated at the end lol?
I thought your experiment was interesting, and amusing. At least I smiled all the way through the video. I even rather liked the melody riff on the beer can monochord-thingy. You've proved your point. Once is enough. Keep up the good work.
I laughed out loud when the Furby came in... maybe it’s just me.. but I would watch a whole video of you with the furby - setting it up in random places to surprise people... having it there disrupting your video making process. Haha Loved the song and the idea behind this video. I have to be honest - I wasn’t expecting to like the song as much as I did. Great work as always!
I was acutally a bit curious to see how an violently abused furby would sound as an musical intsrument. the "Du du du du du duuuuuu Bgiiiiigh" for the intro did not disappoint at all.
It doesn't have to be things that you buy. But you can make it with everyday tools maybe like shovels etc. with theme like cooking utensils, gardening, etc. I just love to see a unique creative process while I don't understand any musical procedure. So thanks for making a music creative process approachable
That sounded like a mad intro to some kind of prog metal taken to an extreme. As weird as it was it was beautiful. Would love to see another vid like this
I dated a girl in high school who was turbo obsessed with Furbys (Furbies?) and had several on a shelf in her room. One night, we were in there watchin a movie and having a snuggle and suddenly from the shelf behind us comes a cascading chorus of “FEED ME” from every Furby she owned. Those things are evil and should not be trusted, but this sounded pretty dang cool. 10/10 would listen again.
Honestly my favorite song you’ve made. Even if you don’t do more videos with this schtick, it would be great to hear you branch out with your sound design and experimentation
Awesome! I love hearing music made with non-conventional instruments, kinda reminds me of an episode of Home Improvement where the construction workers make music out of their tools. For this tune, I thought it sounded great and had a japanese vibe with the canjo lick. I would have liked to hear more, but not sure if the standard youtube viewer has the attention span for it. The fuzz was the only thing that I didn't care for in this mix - it almost took up too much space where the other pieces fit nicely together. Do another one in a year!
I about died laughing when the furby scared you and your cooking show analogy was amazing 😆 I also really liked what you played on the canjo it made me think of Scandinavian/Celtic folk music
I actually really liked the sound of all that. Not a fan of the form-factor, but the fuzz pushed through the mouse amp actually sounded really cool. The canjo added to the effect, almost sittar-ish? Might be a really cool trainer for kids, assuming it has no sharp edges and is not a beer can.
Hey Sammy, might have been hard to put something together, but the results were amazing as always! And it might be a good idea to revisit the concept in a while, I'm guessing that's something that pulls a fair amount of views on the title alone, on top of being funny/entertaining content
I like how the furby is accidently censored toward the end lol also "sounds like furby is fighting dial up internet" brought me back and was a hilarious take.
put a contact pickup on the one string can thing, and plug it into the amp. Record it and tweak it further. There's gotta be a cool sound in there somewhere. Which half of the course is off? Do you get the beginning or the end? Maybe just 50% from the middle? I kid. That was actually a pretty cool song you got out of all that crap. Great job
I'm not gonna lie. I wouldn't mind an extended version of that song.
me too, I thought it sounded kinda like Pretty Lights song.
Same.

You have GOT to make this a semi-series.
