Next up: SBMM based on how good and efficient you navigate the menus. The menus will get progressively harder to navigate with less shortcuts and more distractions, to keep the engagement level balanced across the board
it's already like that for me. Seriously, every time im popping off mid gunfight, it opens the choose class screen and makes me reselect a class. i know its just a bug but i seem to be the only one affected. EDIT: it also did the whole year of mw2
Yeah as IMO the remade maps are doing an insane amount of lifting, yeah MP seems better overall for what most tend to like.... however the rest of MW3 is a total joke and the game itself has a trivial amount of content since it's a fucking title update sold as full price.
Thank you Ace, for the completely honest and mostly unbiased review of MW3. I’ve been trying to keep track of the performance of this game because I feel that I’ve been duped too many times from other cod releases and I don’t want to buy the game until I know it’s worth buying. All of the factual pros and cons that you provide help me decide for myself whether or not the game is for me. I still plan to wait on buying the game because I believe that there is more to learn about the game and its performance and I really don’t want to be disappointed again.
I’m glad you talked about the TTK/TTD problem because I have noticed that myself and found it super frustrating in matches where it takes me 2 hits to die, but I can hit my enemy 5-6 times until they die.
@@AlbungaLativSBMM can have a huge impact on connection in this game. This game is significantly more concerned with making sure you sweat rather than how stable your connection is.
You aren't dying in two hits, but because of shoddy connection the server processes it in a frame or two, making it feel like it was almost instant, but on the other guys side, he probably put 4-6 shots into you.
It’s decent tho I feel that the sbmm went way higher than usual . Played about 50 matches and maybe 5-8 of those were fun relaxed and I could just chill . The other portion felt like everyone was playing to win a million dollars . As well as no matter how good your aim is the enemies never miss . That or you seem to never miss it’s just inconsistent . It’s first week tho so they will probaly iron a few things out . Promising so far just needs some smoothing out
COD Devs at sledgehammer already admitted they were forced to turn up the skill base match making and engagement optimization matchmaking in this game to increase max profit since this DLC hidden as a full game will be the last game under Activision’s control
I heard the sbmm crank up because of skill gap with sliding cancel and fast returning like in Cold War. Cold War before this cod is most sweaty cod I played
@@reygamerz8041 I feel like the crazy skill gap cods make the SBMM more noticeable because we all know that no mother fucker on they 65 inch plasma is slide canceling every corner straight to that memorized heady on week 1. Thats the thing when Im playing I'm good at cod but I don't actually know the mw2 maps very well I started on BO2 and because of that I'm really feeling my SBMM I don't know that its stronger just there is more things to exploit to get a leg up then last year and it makes a good player way more annoying to another good player. and if every player is roughly your skill level and exploiting the game to the same level as you it becomes repetitive mind numbing and just out right not fun
@@redhunnid5142I just dont get the logic behind that. How does more SBMM equal more profit? Most people seem to hate it, some to the point they quit playing. How does making the game frustrating and exhausting generate more profit?
I really want to play this game so bad but the sbmm or whatever you want to call it now is a deal breaker. Last year was the first time i skipped cod because sbmm was just out of hand. Was hoping they tuned it down this year but I guess not so it looks like my cod days are over. Really sad a game I've loved so much over the years no longer cares about players like me.
I’m in the same boat as you, completely agree. The core gameplay looks like it would be so fun to play but having to sweat like you’re in a tournament every single game is just not fun whatsoever. Gonna be a skip for me unless they tone it back.
Not sure why this isn't a thing but zombies needs to expand the squads to 4 players. Zombies has always been 4 players since World at War. Since there's zero PvP in Zombies, this should be fixed by S1 I'm hoping.
@@thomasjohnson1399dmz shouldn’t have been 3 man either. 3 players doesn’t make sense. Most games have been 4 player coop. Why all of the sudden are we going backwards to an odd 3 player coop?
I agree, my BIGGEST gripe has been the forced lobby disbandment. Why is it so hard for people to leave a lobby if they don't want to play with a certain group? Let us rematch, run it back and talk trash. That's what made pub matches so much fun, meanwhile nowadays if you aren't playing with a group multi-player is a quite lonely experience.
Yeah nobody is in game chat by themselves. And why would they be? Not like they’ll ever see those players again cuz it’s time to recalculate your skill and decide wether you’re allowed to win your next match or not.
War mode was hilariously bad when I played it. Not sure if it was due to my team being literal bots and failing at the first objective both matches, or the fact that the enemies also steamrolled us within like 8 minutes each time as well. "SBMM isn't in War" is not true. Not sure where people got that from. Edit: I'm pretty sure the first match someone dropped 100+ kills with a Sniper/Shotgun combo. Not on my team though of course.
Fucking hate the fact that people say SBMM has gotten stronger with every new title ......🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️SBMM has been horrible for YEEEAARS. Even in Black Ops 4 its crazy.
I know the sbmm/eomm is talked about every year, and they refuse to acknowledge the existence of it. But Ace could you, schedule permitted, get all the big call of duty content creators to come out and make it a big story. Because it seems like every time it’s talked about but only to one community at a time. I feel like there could be more impact if it was all talked about at once to get a larger part of the player base to talk about it. It’s more of an issue when going solo or with 1-2 friends. As they don’t ever play with me unless it’s a full party. Because then it will be only maybe 1-2 people at my level in the lobby instead of the whole team. Thank you for the time and dedication you put into this content. Really appreciate it
Activision don't care, they treat their consumers like idiots (cause they sort of are) and will continue doing SBMM because it drives up grind time for certain live service challenges. They're basing their decision on numbers, not youtube opinions The only number that would matter is the number of people that chose not to give them money from SBMM alone. Then they would pay attention
The real kicker is that I've never seen a single person who likes it so wtf are they doing A couple goobers will defend it and say it's no big deal but literally never a single person who actually wants it
@@MedicAthlete24Wprior to live service direction (mw19) it was mostly team balancing and a very soft sbmm hence why no need to disband lobbies every game and sacrifice ping. Now its main focus is to manipulate everyone’s experience to be as close to mid as possible to maximise overall player retention/monetisation whilst giving no incentive to play well or improve. It’s boring af and ruined gaming imo. Gameplay/enjoyment level is literally pre-determined before you even shoot your gun
The zombies is also a lot better than I thought it would be, and it’s nice that you can unlock guns and equipment from zombies to use in multiplayer because it ties them together so they work very well together
I had a feeling when everyone was crying over the timer, the map, the mode that they were all gonna be eating their words, or just not play. I agree with the sentiment that round based zoms should come, they can add Kosechi complex style thing where "only your squad can drop into this smaller map" thing and just make them round based zombies. Anyway, I had a feeling with the level of advertisement they put to zombies and the level of shit they were talking about adding to it to make the game bigger and Bigger, I knew it was gonna be solid and fun, no way they push a mode that hard and it ends up being DMZ, not loved or updated and overall meh. If it WAS meh on drop I knew they'd fix it fast af
The disbanded lobbies are a pain for me mostly because after I complete a full game I get thrown to a new game that’s already in progress and usually my team is losing and the opps already have streaks going and we take an L that I had no ability to affect. If they are going to tie unlocks to wins, I don’t want to be thrown into unwinable games
Glad you mentioned inconsistent gun fights at 9:37 it’s like 4 shots is minimum for me at even close-medium range with anything but in my enemies killcam they fry me in 3 shots even at long range even if I shot first, not even saying I got pro aim or anything
@aimcrazy5843 that's literally not why it's a net code issue your dead before you even can react ill get in multiple shots then they look at me for 1 second and I'm dead.
The SBMM is just absolutely unbelievable this year. You literally can’t party up with different skill tiered players, because the majority of the party gets screwed.
Look at it this way, most people who will end up playing this game don’t have it yet and most of the players who have it still need to unlock their preferred class setups and to learn the maps (currently a wide gap in map knowledge due to many not playing the original MW2).
Yep, when I play with most of my friends (who are generally lower skilled than I am) they can only get through a few games before hopping off because my lobbies are filled with sweats… But solo queuing is miserable for me. It’s a no win situation.
@@David_1789 What relevance does people who didn't play the original mw2 and that people haven't bought the game yet have with the comment about sbmm and partying up?
I have a high speed, wired connection and get 100ms lobbies. Either I’m the only guy in North America playing or the game is literally creating latency where there is none, so people with 150 SPM can pop off. It’s sad because it truly is one of the best CoDs in terms of graphics, movement, variety, etc... All to be thrown to the wayside of EOMM.
Honestly, Pick 10 System should never make its way back to COD. It's a neat little mechanic, but it encourages you to maximize certain aspects of the class and neglect the rest, making the gameplay incredibly bland when I'd just run around with "A gun" with full attachments and perks without having any fun utility: grenade or secondary equipped because that gives me gunfight advantages. The best perk system I find is the original MW2 with its standard and pro effects. Perk should be empowering and have a noticeable effect on the battlefield. That's how players can customize their playstyle at such a deep level, not like MW2022 where basically every custom class plays out the same completely flat.
The spawns are so desperately bad on Hardpoint, they have to be sorted ASAP. The game itself is good, but whatever spawn system they're using is really holding it back
Interesting, I haven't seen that. And I only play hardcore. hard point/control/domination ... (in MW2019 I would play an entire 2-3 hours session with demolition and headquarters) ...
@@steerj07I hate the big maps on Hardpoint, they don't play well and have awful spawns. Afghan sucks ass, got people spawning across from eachother on the top hill just to be spawn trapped and nade spammed. These maps suck in terms of spawns and playability: Quarry, Rundown, Wasteland, Afghan, Estate and Derail. You only get spawn traps, terrible spawn positions, bad hardpoint locations, and extremely sticky spawn locations. You could be right on the OBJ but your team will still be spawning half way across the map. Its fickle how the spawns work in Hardpoint. It feels like the mode and maps doen't work with the faster movement, long line of sights and map flow. Its almost as if it was designed and works better for a slower paced game... *LOOKS AT MW2 (2022)*
Might be weird to ask, but would actually love to see at least a small clip or something of some of the ‘bad’ matches you get into, like when SBMM is really giving it to you lol
@@morsecode5078it's all part of the marketing for the game ...if they post shit gameplay potential buyers may see it and be put off thinking "if a UA-camr is so bad at it what chance would I have" 🤔
This game is catered to tryhards, so it shouldn’t be surprising the “sbmm” argument is in full force. You’re getting matched with tryhards because most of the people playing are tryhards
I'm happy you like MW3, but as someone that was VERY far removed from the Call of Duty scene for almost 10 years, I feel betrayed. My favorite COD game ever was MW2. The pure nostalgia of resurrecting the name MW2 and thinking I'd be able to play a modern version of COD on my favorite maps got me to buy MW2. There was tons of talks of the maps in MW3 making it to MW2, they even had them in the Warzone map, so I was lead on to believe that I'd be spending money and eventually getting that MW2 nostalgia in full. I sold a ton of things on Steam that I had saved for years just to get enough money to buy the game. Money is tight, but I thought, even if they release the maps as a 20-30 dollar upgrade, it might be worth it for me. Now, I need to buy an entirely new game for FULL AAA price to reminisce about MW2 in a game called.... MW3? It just doesn't make any sense, and to top it all off MW2 was just ok. To the point, where I don't even play it anymore and didn't really get my moneys worth (just my opinion). And to cap off the pain, this game is supposedly the best gun play and gameplay in COD for awhile now and I can't afford it because feeding my family is worth more than paying $140 in basically just one year to play COD. This company had a chance to win a very willing customer back. But they've done nothing to earn more of my money than the 70 dollars they swindled me for. It's just not worth being preyed on. They played on my emotions once and I got burned and now, even if MW3 is EXACTLY the version of COD I had been hoping for for years, I won't buy it, sorry. Then again, what was I supposed to expect. I shouldn't have spent money before I understood what I was getting myself into. Unfortunately, being so far out of the loop, I just wasn't prepared for the subtle thievery.
I really like having to go for the win once you complete the daily challenges. There are way too many games where people don’t care about trying to win and this hurts the game flow imo. So having a real incentive to win games is a great thing imo.
They should have just made wins the only way to unlock items. Sure, it’s nice once you complete the three daily challenges, but there are literally millions of players doing stupid challenges like getting assists first.
I think they should've made CAMOS more dependent on wins. I don't hate the current system, but unlocking camos would be more appropriate to me than items/perks.
If everyone had that mentality it may be a good feature, but in COD it’s a shit feature because most people don’t go for the win and that punishes the people trying to unlock these items because 9 out of 10 times, you’re not going to be able to win the game on your own. My ability to unlock the core MP items should absolutely never be tied to how well my teammates may or may not perform, or whether or not my teammates decide to play the objectives or not.
@@Ice43Man This is actually why it's a good feature, as if you punish people enough for not trying to win and actually play the objective they'll either quit or start being a team player. Either way it's a net positive for everyone who sticks around.
Back in the mw2 days I mostly played ground war and felt the maps were great for 9v9. A lot of the maps feel too large for 6v6, too much down time but I guess that's personal preference. Hopefully they add the bigger playlist at some point.
Well dammit Ace you've swayed me. I've been following you for years, and I really trust your input on this franchise. You saying this is (likely) your favorite modern COD has made me more willing to give it a try.
I work all day and into the evenings. When i turn on MW3 at 10pm and play for an hour, i just have fun. I dont care about zombies or campaign. In fact, i only play team death match lol! I give MW3 an 8.5 for fun!
Honestly, this is one of the best in the past years. The biggest gripes for me are the sbmm because for having even a 2kd in a game means Ill have to sweat for the next 5 games to do even remotely decently, the de-sync issues, 9/10 times it feels like I die in 2 bullets, plus I can rarely win a gunfight without being 1shot after the fact because they always somehow have time to turn around and shoot back. And my ping average is between 15 to 23. The final one is that camping at least from my experience seems to be off the charts. And its not even getting spawn trapped. People will just sit in their spawn or a random corner of the map and hold it down like their life depends on it. Hardcore is virtually unplayable because of campers. I tried hardcore to grind some camos and it was a miserable experience. No one is moving, except to the first place they can mount or headglitch. Then it turns into a standoff of which team will have more patience to stay in one place and tunnel vision while picking of anyone who tries to move. Apart from that, everything else feels fresh and actually functional for a change.
I have similar complaints, however, I find this to be one of the *worst* call of duty games put out in the last decade. I would literally rather play vanguard. Interesting how we all gripe about the same crap but disagree on what actually makes the game "good". Not here to make fun of ya or anything.. just found your take on the situation interesting.
I'm pretty sure one match I joined late near the end/halfway-ish point, I went like 7-1, and the next 5 games were literal MLG pros that destroyed my team like it was a warm up match for them. My team pretty much never had a single chance whatsoever to win in those matches. All because I had a "7 K.D." one match.
@@edgyjorgensen3286 I guess it´s all down to preferences. Alot of people disliked mw19 but that was my most played cod, mostly because SnD was amazing and we had a 6man team almost constantly. This at least for me feels pretty similar with some quality of life improvements. But it is interesting to see the common denominator seems to be the algorithmic manipulation.
Content creators have a job to tell the truth, Infinity Ward has clearly jumped the shark. Player retention will cost them hundreds of millions, and I'm here for it.
yeah SBMM conbined with some lag/desync issue is making ttk and ttd super inconsistent at time. Still overall a quite positive experience for me, but hopefully those issues are fixable (and soon).
@@_Idolin Agreed. For a meantime I would love to play some zombies, but the mode keeps crashing like crazy. Well, cod launches be like this every time.
@@RavetsU yeah there's actually a reason to play zombies now cause we need to unlock equipment and guns, plus no PvP, and zombies are just more interesting overall (than human NPCs in DMZ). Haven't seen any crashes yet though so I guess I'm lucky.
@@_Idolin You're really lucky. People farming xp with exfils are one of the many reasons that the servers go kaput most of the time. I've always loved zombies, considering myself as old school casual zombies fan and this mode, yet far from perfect, is a nice place to just chill. Story ain't that interesting, but that's okay to me.
Honestly the game can be super fun, but the inconsistent TTK have completely ruined it for me. Dying to what feels like 2 bullets should'nt be a thing in this game.
0:47 excuse me, excellent in what way? The simplier it looks and handles thr better? Then apex gunplay is the best? It's boring snd dull, and it's a problem
It's real rough on KB&M. Aim feels floaty so it's impossible to track. When you do appear to be on an enemy, it takes 30 bullets to kill someone while you get deleted in 1-2 hits.
The ttk vs ttd is a huge issue for me because it happens most games for me. I'm leaning more towards grinding weapon levels and camos in zombies because multiplayer is just a terrible experience for me at the moment.
The ttd isn't real btw it's just how it looks. They still killing you in the same time etc. Just need to ignore it and think why you lost the gunfight instead
@@therealfreekshowit’s CoD. It will always be point and shoot. I preferred 100 health because kill times just felt more consistent, and it made the TTK and perceived time to die closer.
@@KiddBuu_TTK increasing still improves the skill gap in regards to gun skill. Yes, still point to shoot but you have to point and shoot more consistently and you don't get evaporated every gun fight when you play against players who can shoot back - it's nice to be able to jiggle peak for example.
Something to mention about the armory unlocks is that if you can't complete a challenge you are stuck untill the next day. You do not get any points for wins until u complete all 3 dailys. I had a challenge "get 6 point blank kills". It took way too long to get that complete with few close engagements on these maps. For the whole day i was stuck at 3/6. So for my armory unlock i only got 2 points, for the whole day till i finally completed the challenge. If any of those dailys are a struggle or uncompletable for any reason you get no points (besides whichever challenges are able to complete) for armory unlocks.
What’s the point of challenges if they’re not a challenge? The far worse situations is when you have to use a flashbang to complete the challenge when you haven’t got flashbangs unlocked…
@szymonski1905 you are correct that is a far worse situation. That one actually better proves my point. It literally stops your progression for armory challenges since in that scenario theres no way youll complete it. And of course they are dailys so you have to wait till the next day to make any more progress. Assuming they dont screw you with another impossible one
Man. Ace! You forgot to mention aftermarket parts. HUGE win from me. The idea of grinding to get an attachment that completely changed the way the weapon looks or feels is so cool to me. ACR in 300blk, the Bren 2 in 7.62 NATO AND 7.62x39? Awesome. Love that
I’m loving it! Great stuff! Best it’s been in years, me personally I’m liking where SMG’s are at, they shouldn’t have the range of an assault rifle. So many times I’ve been melted far away by an SMG
As someone who didn’t play any of these maps before, it’s been a struggle to learn em with the insane sbmm. Some of em I like and imo some of them really didn’t age well.
Underground was the most hated map on MW2 but i personally loved it. This map most likely benefits the most out of all the remade maps for the new engine as the OG was hazy Rundown depends on the lobby Derail is the worst map but with map voting youll barely ever play it Estate is ok, it can be boring and campy or it can be fun. Map really depends on the lobby
@@chickenfkeryay that’s funny cause I’ve player derail as much as any other map so far and I agree it’s terrible. A lot of these maps are sniper friendly which was fine with insane ttk I assume but now it’s just been hard scope city.
This is the first time ive ever had the desync feel of gunfights so bad. Out of every 10 matches i always only seem to have 2 matches where the connection feels decent enough where i feel like im actually hitting them and they are actually killing me with the correct amount of shots. It's like you said though, this is the first week and hopefully it kind smooths out cause my gosh it feels horrible most of the time when im playing.
Okay so I’m not the only one feeling that. Moments where I get the first shot off and should kill someone is a coin toss of whether I die or not. My internet is always in the high teens and low twenties, so idk what it is. Could be skill issue, but normally I’m pretty decent. I can’t explain it
I definitely had it the past 2 years but only noticed it because of getting outgunned in ranked even tho my aim is pretty good. I actually hope it doesn’t smooth out so that they address the issue. They’re a billion dollar company with some of the worst servers on the market. Even halos feel better to me lol
This game has quite a lot of problems - SBMM - Crossplay - TTK (it would be perfect to make 130 hp instead of 150 hp) - Too slow regeneration delay (the skill of resetting the regeneration delay after kill as in mw22, would solve this problem) - The worse maps ever (I understand they decided to add "legend" maps from mw2, but they are terrible, these are just chaotic maps with no design for multiplayer, or just huge empty fields) - The problem with tactical sprint after a sliding This game encourages camping, and the reason for this is maps and too slow regeneration delay. Personally I'm disappointed, I was waiting for a similar gameplay as in Vanguard
I wish visibility was easier or better to depict ppl from farther away (I think they used to have an attachment/perk while ads for it in an older game) that like camp in upstairs places of buildings like on maps like underpass, quarry or derail, it’s just so hard to see where you’re getting beamed from
Yeah I’ve noticed it’s often hard to see characters against backgrounds. Lots of grey on grey. And that Groot-skin on wasteland is basically invisible!
Agree with everything you said. One more thing i dislike though is that we can’t prestige for the first month. I miss the races to master prestige in the old days
Yea it’s so dumb they took that out. Capping it at 55 makes no sense. Now all of the camo challenges and any other challenges are just wasting xp until they increase it. Makes it way harder to level up once they finally do raise it
My thing with the disbanding lobbies is you get a fresh game and after it ends it seems like your always joining a match in progress and it’s so frustrating
@@aslakjeans1280 exactly bro. I had a stretch of like 4 games the other night where I joined Dom matches and they all were like 75% over. Why is it adding me to this shit.
Hate the lobby system. Wanted that to change. Would love to see the ability to queue for one game type, have the list of players, two maps that we can all vote for, chat shit to people in the lobby, hell just keep playing with that same lobby game in game out. The new ones jsut feel so un personal
My beta experience taught me two things: 1. The bones of the game are fantastic an probably the best they’ve been since BO4 2. The SBMM completely negates all those improvements and makes the game unplayable. It’s literally the reason I cancelled my Pre-Order
I want to see improvements to the perk balance. Stalker boots, climbing boots and tactical pads are all clearly outclassed. Covert sneakers are also way too essential compared to its counterparts and how loud the base footsteps are
Agreed. The only class without Covert Sneakers that I currently have is my Anti Air / LMG class. Just for the sole fact that it's a LMG and I most definitely will not be rushing with that. Every other class has Covert+Ghost combination. No reason to pick any other perks.
I'm glad you mentioned the issue with the cold blooded perk, I was so confused. I have just maxed out one of the battle rifles, finally unlocked cold blooded, was so excited after equipping, played two games, ended up with the basic 20 mag battle rifle with completely different EVERYTHING. Hoping they fix that ASAP as I really love cold blooded
This is the first year since mw2 that i said to my friend “you know guys I’m not having fun I think I’m gonna go play something else” it’s just too hard they say it’s not sweaty not realizing they are the sweats my bro watches guides to make the perfect class and the other watches advantage spots on TikTok and gets a sniper kill .2 seconds after the game starts I just wanna have fun be goofy with weird set ups like in bo4
Apparently SHG had only 1.5 years to work on the game and they had to run everything by InfinityTurd for whatever reason... So all things considered, they did a pretty decent job with MW3... Just sucks that even though the core gameplay is pretty good, it's all ruined by SBMM...
The armory queue makes no sense, it should automatically start right after the current challenge is done because having to go back in the armory and activate a queued one makes no sense and you could play matches and win for no reason bc you forgot to and your current challenge will just say completed and the next on isnt activated after
Small thing but the Covert Sneakers and Ghost perk are really the highlights of the perk system for me. I like that I can be stealthy and silent but I still need to be active and moving around, and I can sneak up on the campers if I play smartly enough. I used to be more on the campy side, but the new Ghost perk really incentives me to run around more and it's super fun.
@@Deluseon you're spot on, MW2019 was my first CoD (well first one I actually played MP anyway, only pirated CoD for the campaigns before that since I was a broke kid).

Out of 10 matches I played last night, I was put in 8 matches in progress on a losing team with zero chance of coming back. Frustrating, but I still enjoy all of the changes and the direction SHG are pushing for.
Hey Ace, could you make a video on movement and positioning? I feel like I'm just constantly getting shit on because I'm in the wrong place at the wrong time which feels like any place any of the time.
I often find myself getting 'revenge spawns' where both myself and who I kill spawn very close to each other to cause another gunfight. This can lead to spawning in some very weird locations.
This happens a lot. I find it quite strange that Ace is not experiencing this. Because the spawns are still all over the place. You have to constantly check your back for "surprise spawns". Are they better compared to the beta? Definitely, however, they still need a lot of work.
That’s why you need to adopt guerrilla tactics by running away after selling your advancement to the enemy before they see the kill cam so they give false callouts to their teammates.
My main problem with MW3 is the visibility. Characters blend into the environment too much, maybe there's too much smoke/haze, or it's the color palette or contrast, idk what it is but the visibility in MW2 was much better.
Watching gameplay looks fun. Gunplay looks nice, movement is good, the maps are classic, camos are fire, but i know the bad far outweighs the good. SBMM, armory unlocks, bad spawns, still trash UI, poor weapon variety, desync, disbanding lobbies, and just the fact this was supposed to be dlc make the game impossible to justify a $70 purchase. I wish i could say i wanna buy and play COD at launch out of excitement and joy, but that’s not the reality
Aw he's too afraid to call out sbmm. My first game ever there were players with gold guns. 5th game was winning 186-170 in hard point and got a nuked dropped on us. Sbmm is terrible and it's a shame he and Influencers are not speaking up more. So it will never change. They cared more about getting slide canceling back..snipers are nerfed with insane ads and no kar98 which is needed to counter the jumpers and sliders
I would say it's been a relatively good launch. SHG is doing a lot of the stuff we've been looking for, but there are still some issues that do need fixing.
An issue I ran into is camo challenges not tracking properly. So far I’ve only noticed it for zombies, but it is really annoying loading in to a match getting the 100 kills only to find out it didn’t actually count it and I now have to reload back into the game and spend another 10 or 15 minutes running around redoing everything.
Was just thinkin yesterday how I’d like a vest option that gives an extra piece of gear while giving up the tactical instead of the lethal. More vests being added would be great. Also have mixed feelings on armory unlocks. Definitely don’t like base weapons being tied into that. Those should’ve been left out.
@@ZANGETSUxPR while true, still shouldn’t have to go that route. Base weapons should all be obtainable through the normal level up imo. Save the armory unlocks for the perks, equipment and certain attachments/ammo conversion kits.
Nice video man! I personally haven't bought the game but from what I've heard and seen I agree with all your points! Also they should set the TDM kill limit to 100 instead of 75, matches seem to end too quickly
I completely agree. We have similar tastes. Cold War was awesome but this one… With all the OG maps… I dont feel lost. Whatever map load I can hop in and feel comfortable. I enjoy having lanes and flow to the maps again. MW2 maps were AWFUL for me. One small gripe. As a solo player I wish I could see in the lobby if I am having to play against a squad so I had the opportunity to back out first. Getting into a lobby and figuring our I am playing a whole squad in DOM as they are strategically holding down every lane and there is no balance in the lobby….. Not fun
There is a shortcut to do this, for the armory unlock system do the zombies challenges. The optional task for armory unlocks are doing contracts. Every three contracts give a point towards the armory progress. You can roughly do 9 contracts in a zombies game depending if you focus on the contracts. This significantly speeds up the progress of the armory unlocks.
Edit: my apologies it’s you have to complete 3 contracts per daily challenge point. Some quick math 3 contracts = 1 daily challenge So 9 contracts in a zombies match equals to 3 daily challenge
Damn, it's really nice to hear you feeling more positive about the game. I really hope the post-launch support is great and you continue to feel good about the game as a whole! Personally, I feel that it isn't possible to be a good CoD with the modern implementation of SBMM. It's just such a massive and fundamental issue that punishes players for being good at the game. I'm incredibly sad to know that the days of connection based matchmaking are over and they're unlikely to ever change that again. I'm happy with most things about the gameplay itself, but I just can't ever recommend buying a game with a matchmaking system like this one in it.
@@gabrielkukri5406 Literally any other game or whatever you can spend you time on. I'm playing MTG, BG3 and Pathfinder right now, also watching youtube and other stuff, nobody needs CoD.
There's something seriously wrong with the marksman rifles or the conspiracy about skilled based hit detection is true. I can be absolutely shredding in one game where the rifles will be getting one shot kills, even with shots that don't look like they should've been: but the very next game, I'll be getting hitmarkers galore. It doesn't make sense.
Thought you would mention it, but I think that the ghost perk should stay active for longer when you stop moving, because at the moment it’s instantaneous and I feel it should be more forgiving.
Impossible to win games as a solo grinder in MP. Also I've never played a COD where I lose so many gun fights. I put 10 shots into a player and he one taps me? Doesnt feel right.
It's refreshing seeing people realize the problems with SBMM/EOMM. Maybe one day we'll have matches free of predatory matchmaking, especially with Microsoft at the helm soon. Then again, it's Microsoft.
For me, the movement is incredibly refreshing. I believe that MW2 maps sucked not because of the map design per se but because of the restraining movement. MW3 OG maps coupled with freer movement made it incomparable to MW2.
I liked the MW2 maps a lot. Was more variance. Feel like I could use SMGs and shotguns on a lot of those maps where as in this game you have to use a rifle on every single map.
If it ever decides to be launched 😤 This summer would have been the perfect window for Xdefiant. Now it has to Wait for the mw3 season 1 fatigue for a chance to get a decent player base
This is the first COD I have enjoyed in a few years and finally see myself sticking with it for more than a month or two. I am really enjoying the maps that I used to love playing when the game was in its prime - plus the faster smoother movement with the slower time to kill is great IMO.
@jeremybrown9611 Poor network connection and sweat lobbies all the way. My opponents have a ping range of 10-30, while mine is usually in the range of 100-110, although it can sometimes be around 80-90. The game's high TTK makes it even more frustrating to play because I lose 80% of gunfights. In MW2, my ping was consistently at 90, and while playing against opponents with 30 ping was tough, I still managed to have fun and even achieved the Orion Camo and 1250 level.
@@ap1esin Damn bruh thats crazy. My Ping be in the 90's as well but Im usually in lobbies with 30-45 ping, and this was the case for MW2 as well. Shit we just figured that was a normal thing cause when the pings high you get lobbies to you research or join a friend
Most recently me and my Bro were experiencing network issues, we knew for sure it wasnt on that end. Best advice I can give till the fix these issues, is to not play MP but just chill playing Zombies...granted the Host connection is solid cause this morning the lobbie freezed up when we were trying to extract. In terms of SBMM, it aint going nowhere so all we can do is adapt or till the game to F Off

Overall it’s pretty good. Needs 10v10 badly, weapon balance is terrible, smg’s are extremely underpowered, wish there was also a 100hp game mode for people who like traditional cod ttk
Spot on, great review, I'm 65 and have played CoD since the beginning. I play on xBox and PC, normally hard core, but occasionally when I can buy a kill and go to core. It's more forgiving. I like MWIII and pretty much agree with you. Thanks for the review.
7:40, pairing needing wins for unlocks with strong sbmm + mainly dedicated players buying on launch explains why SBMM feels like its been turned up even more than usual, also I'm sure CW used to have a list of like 10-15 daily challenges, if they brought that back (even just to have 10, 3 sets of 3 and 1 bonus) and allowed you to pick another 3 challenges till you exhausted the list (with it refreshing every 24h) it would maybe alleviate the push for wins as most people wouldn't get through all 10 challenges per day (and would add more variety to playstyles perhaps too or even if most people did it would 3x the longevity, thereby also probably boosting daily retention no.s too)
Next up: SBMM based on how good and efficient you navigate the menus. The menus will get progressively harder to navigate with less shortcuts and more distractions, to keep the engagement level balanced across the board
lmfao nice
The menu is not that hard to navigate but great joke 😂
@mauikashh1722 I don't think it's hard to use or navigate, it's just a eyesore to look at. For me atleast
CDL players get randomized store pop ups and additional terms and conditions acknowledgment checkpoints
it's already like that for me. Seriously, every time im popping off mid gunfight, it opens the choose class screen and makes me reselect a class. i know its just a bug but i seem to be the only one affected. EDIT: it also did the whole year of mw2
I like the mp but it's very annoying to play against cod league players every time I have a slightly positive kd
it is what it is
A statement as old as time now. Those players you're calling CDL are struggling just as much as you
So you’re mad that you’re playing against people of same skill level lol
Embrace the 1kd average brother 😂
Yep. Sbmm is horrible
I think you should do a 1 month review to compare these notes you've mentioned, then a 3 month review to see how it compares to launch.
Love that idea!
100%
Yeah as IMO the remade maps are doing an insane amount of lifting, yeah MP seems better overall for what most tend to like.... however the rest of MW3 is a total joke and the game itself has a trivial amount of content since it's a fucking title update sold as full price.
This is basically a one month review already
It'll be completely dead in 3 months
Dude i thought i waas going crazy when i get 5-6 hit markers with the pkp
@@sazlefraz he said it may have to do with connection issues? How does that work?
@@AlbungaLativSBMM can have a huge impact on connection in this game. This game is significantly more concerned with making sure you sweat rather than how stable your connection is.
You aren't dying in two hits, but because of shoddy connection the server processes it in a frame or two, making it feel like it was almost instant, but on the other guys side, he probably put 4-6 shots into you.
headshot multiplier is big this game too, along with the connection issues everyone else mentions.

This has been the strangest adjustment they made nobody wants it and you can't even make new friends this way
Because all they care ab is sbmm

SBMM is turned to 11/10 this year. War map feels so bare compared to WWII. Definitely need some good map playlists soon

They're basing their decision on numbers, not youtube opinions
The only number that would matter is the number of people that chose not to give them money from SBMM alone. Then they would pay attention
It’s insane they haven’t even acknowledged its existence. Imagine if Facebook was still trying to act like your feed is chronological. Insane.
It doesn’t matter because every. Single. Call of Duty game has had some form of “skill based matchmaking” in it.
The real kicker is that I've never seen a single person who likes it so wtf are they doing
A couple goobers will defend it and say it's no big deal but literally never a single person who actually wants it
@@MedicAthlete24Wprior to live service direction (mw19) it was mostly team balancing and a very soft sbmm hence why no need to disband lobbies every game and sacrifice ping.

The disbanded lobbies are a pain for me mostly because after I complete a full game I get thrown to a new game that’s already in progress and usually my team is losing and the opps already have streaks going and we take an L that I had no ability to affect.

It’d be near-perfect if the there was no SBMM/EOMM

The spawns are so desperately bad on Hardpoint, they have to be sorted ASAP. The game itself is good, but whatever spawn system they're using is really holding it back

You only get spawn traps, terrible spawn positions, bad hardpoint locations, and extremely sticky spawn locations.

Sure, it’s nice once you complete the three daily challenges, but there are literally millions of players doing stupid challenges like getting assists first.
yea, if SBMM is going to be this sweaty, reward me for winning

The trick is to back all the way out to CoD Hub or quit the app altogether when the UI inexplicably decides not to display half of the elements.
The ttk vs ttd is a huge issue for me because it happens most games for me. I'm leaning more towards grinding weapon levels and camos in zombies because multiplayer is just a terrible experience for me at the moment.
Game takes more gun skill rather then Point and shoot
The ttd isn't real btw it's just how it looks. They still killing you in the same time etc. Just need to ignore it and think why you lost the gunfight instead
@@therealfreekshownahh it's cod, still point and shoot
Awesome. Love that
The CZ Bren kicks some major ass in CQC
The WSP-9 with the Broodmother. 45 Kit is just 👌
Mw 2019 had this on like half the guns homie.
Also the full auto mcw 6.8 looks cool
I’m loving it! Great stuff! Best it’s been in years, me personally I’m liking where SMG’s are at, they shouldn’t have the range of an assault rifle. So many times I’ve been melted far away by an SMG
As someone who didn’t play any of these maps before, it’s been a struggle to learn em with the insane sbmm. Some of em I like and imo some of them really didn’t age well.
i haven’t played MWIII yet but i did play a ton of MW2. there are definitely a few bad maps. i was surprised they decided to bring them all back
Underground was the most hated map on MW2 but i personally loved it. This map most likely benefits the most out of all the remade maps for the new engine as the OG was hazy
Rundown depends on the lobby
Derail is the worst map but with map voting youll barely ever play it
Estate is ok, it can be boring and campy or it can be fun.

I can’t explain it
Iam getting exactly the same experience
I definitely had it the past 2 years but only noticed it because of getting outgunned in ranked even tho my aim is pretty good. I actually hope it doesn’t smooth out so that they address the issue. They’re a billion dollar company with some of the worst servers on the market. Even halos feel better to me lol
This game has quite a lot of problems
- SBMM
- Crossplay
- TTK (it would be perfect to make 130 hp instead of 150 hp)
- Too slow regeneration delay (the skill of resetting the regeneration delay after kill as in mw22, would solve this problem)
- The worse maps ever (I understand they decided to add "legend" maps from mw2, but they are terrible, these are just chaotic maps with no design for multiplayer, or just huge empty fields)
- The problem with tactical sprint after a sliding
This game encourages camping, and the reason for this is maps and too slow regeneration delay.
This has been a problem since mw 2019. It doesnt help that there are so many pure black skins as well
Agree with everything you said. One more thing i dislike though is that we can’t prestige for the first month. I miss the races to master prestige in the old days
Yea it’s so dumb they took that out. Capping it at 55 makes no sense. Now all of the camo challenges and any other challenges are just wasting xp until they increase it. Makes it way harder to level up once they finally do raise it
not like the new prestige system is any different than saying you have x amount of hour played.
My thing with the disbanding lobbies is you get a fresh game and after it ends it seems like your always joining a match in progress and it’s so frustrating
And when you leave to search for another game you get put in a match in progress again😂

My beta experience taught me two things:
1. The bones of the game are fantastic an probably the best they’ve been since BO4
2. The SBMM completely negates all those improvements and makes the game unplayable. It’s literally the reason I cancelled my Pre-Order
The skill base & lag comp make it nearly unplayable for me at this point…
I want to see improvements to the perk balance. Stalker boots, climbing boots and tactical pads are all clearly outclassed. Covert sneakers are also way too essential compared to its counterparts and how loud the base footsteps are
Agreed. The only class without Covert Sneakers that I currently have is my Anti Air / LMG class. Just for the sole fact that it's a LMG and I most definitely will not be rushing with that. Every other class has Covert+Ghost combination. No reason to pick any other perks.
This is why bone conduction should counter covert sneakers
@@MrMetra101so you can camp harder lol
@@iamjstew___4473 So there can be a counter....Sitrep pro countered dead silence back in the original mw3....

cranked up SBMM was the info i needed. saved me 70 quid. thx
It feels like I have to empty the mag to get one kill. But I die in 2 bullets. The pistols shoots marshmallows lol.
Pistols are garbage been hard to level up against mcw and holger everyone used
Not paying $70 for a DLC. I'm get it on sale. I am excited for WZ tho

How that SBMM/EOMM feel
@@redhunnid5142 HORRIBLE
The armory queue makes no sense, it should automatically start right after the current challenge is done because having to go back in the armory and activate a queued one makes no sense and you could play matches and win for no reason bc you forgot to and your current challenge will just say completed and the next on isnt activated after
or they could just let us unlock a fucking semtex normally.
Don't know if you've ever played cod before MW2019 but that's how it was for like 8 years, it's one of the reasons why all the old fans hate MW
@@Deluseon you're spot on, MW2019 was my first CoD (well first one I actually played MP anyway, only pirated CoD for the campaigns before that since I was a broke kid).
@@_Idolin Making me feel like a cod boomer, I started with the original mw. But it's great to hear that the new wave of fans get to experience something closer to that og cod feel. You can finally learn what we've been complaining about for all these years lol
Out of 10 matches I played last night, I was put in 8 matches in progress on a losing team with zero chance of coming back. Frustrating, but I still enjoy all of the changes and the direction SHG are pushing for.
maps alone make it better than the last few cods, better than mw19 forsure
Man I remember when Ace only had like 80 k subs. Happy to see your growing man! You deserve it!
Doesn’t help that half of the skins in this game are pitch black or see through like the spriggan skin
The weapon balance has been rough for sure. Going for the camos and been using the smgs. With the sweaty lobbies its super difficult with the smgs
Striker 9 is an airsoft gun 😅
Hardcore
An issue I ran into is camo challenges not tracking properly. So far I’ve only noticed it for zombies, but it is really annoying loading in to a match getting the 100 kills only to find out it didn’t actually count it and I now have to reload back into the game and spend another 10 or 15 minutes running around redoing everything.
I appreciate that you are real with your reviews.
Ooh this guy. Sup dude, see youre still on the grind! I havent played since blackops 4 and your videos helped me alot!:)
You can get them on zombies and exfill with them, saving points for usefull perks.
@@ZANGETSUxPR while true, still shouldn’t have to go that route. Base weapons should all be obtainable through the normal level up imo. Save the armory unlocks for the perks, equipment and certain attachments/ammo conversion kits.
I’m happy that you’re happy ace, I am also really enjoying the game. I don’t want to just play one map like shipment or shoothouse for once
😁 Give it a month and you'll add Rust to that list... 😉
@@MaxSmalls I won’t but thank you
Nice video man!
Hope this helps
Edit: my apologies it’s you have to complete 3 contracts per daily challenge point.
Some quick math
3 contracts = 1 daily challenge
So 9 contracts in a zombies match equals to 3 daily challenge
How do you not have a mill subs yet? You 100% deserve a lot more than what you have
Damn, it's really nice to hear you feeling more positive about the game.
And if people buy it, they are basically telling Activision that they don't care

can you make a video about some of the most notable new additions to the old maps? i'm curious how they changed them
They ruined the atmosphere of Rundown, Karachi, and Rust. SHG is obsessed with high noon white lighting and washed out shadows.
I dont get the hate for the challenge system. The wins actually feel like they matter and you get to unlock everything very fast anyways.
Im right there w u Ace. Gameplay is great and playing with a whole team REALLY helps w/ the SBMM. Camo grind is great, Zombies is awesome. I’m happy.
Loving the movement speed in this game, it feels like a hunt on amphitamenes
Thought you would mention it, but I think that the ghost perk should stay active for longer when you stop moving, because at the moment it’s instantaneous and I feel it should be more forgiving.
That would be the bare minimum expectation. Keep in mind it’s utterly illogical that you’re less visible by moving to begin with lol.
@@David_1789Ah yes let’s make it so that Ghost doesn’t deactivate at all and make the game even more campy, shall we?
The maps didn’t suck lol
Some maps definitely sucked ass though as much as i did enjoy MW2022. I played it a lot actually.
Every map sucked.. the gunplay was the turd on top

This summer would have been the perfect window for Xdefiant.

I am only going to buy MW3 when it goes on sale. No f*cking way I am putting 70 bucks down on what should have been an update.
Pretty sure this is the best review I've seen so far. It's as unbiased as possible
Went from 1.21 kd mw2 , to a 0,4 kd in mw3 👏 sbmm is unbelievable this year 😂 aside from that I like the game generally
Theres no way your KD was higher than mines in MW2 but lower than mines in MW3. Its literally a DLC, the gap should not be that high. What happened?
