Some of the homeless would go through our bins. They toss stuff from one bin (say blue) into the black bin and visa versa. Hard to do what the city wants when the unsheltered don't care and mix it up. I appreciate what the city is trying to do, but it will be less than perfect when others go through bins and mix them up.

When your waste goes towards making compost, those "government chores" will also help your economy and environment. What about that is not important labor? I don't understand the attitude. it is a beneficial result. We should be glad we're able to do so little on our part to create so much

Its more so a money making endeavor for the state and corporations that own the waste Co's and have "exclusive contracts" w/ the state to create, package and sell the compost .
You pay a fee for the bin & pick up. Then its turned into mountains of compost that is sold @ nearly pure profit. The people bare most, if not all of the expense, while others reap huge financial rewards. The motive has NOTHING to do w/ the environment. If only people only knew the true motives behind how and why these narratives are created and most legislation is introduced & passed. It involves a lot of self interest & greed @ every level, from the Fed. Gov. all the way down to local school boards.

Let alone my own town...or the state.
Lol ive gotten free compost before.
Pieces of plastic...trash...found a razor blade once.
Can i ask, do you actually believe free city compost will be of the highest quality? Lol
      Yea no thanks.
So since i dont want the free city compost,
      My original comment still stands.
I agreed to pay a certian price for a certian service(trash pick up)
They are adding conditions and rules that i did not agree to.
      Shouldnt i/everyone be consulted first?
Climate activist need to slow down. They need to sit down and actually relize their climate agenda(and thats what it is a money making agenda) or as i like to call it,
      'The green money scheme'.
Is not as popular as they think.
People are waking up and relizes these climate activist need to go back to saving the whales and singing kumbaya at camp fires.
Just another climate action on top of a list of other just meant to make it harder for everyday people.

It will continue month by month according to your service day with Tuesdays being the last to get rolled out. Yard waste will also have to go into the new bins. And this is why people are moving out of SD in droves. Those little white holes in the pails they give you, will keep flies out, but they don’t keep fruit flies from gathering on the top. If you fill your green bin with your food waste, where is the gardener supposed to put the lawn trimmings? I have a family of 7 and we go through a lot of food waste (part of having picky kids) and as much I try to get them to eat all the food, it doesn’t happen.

It is allegedly to fund public transportation initiatives but in reality, they are trying to recoup the money they are losing at the gas pumps that e vehicles don’t pay.
