=ABOUT ME=
Hi, my name's Reece. I'm a passionate Creator, Transportation Planner, and Software Developer, interested in rapid transportation all around my home base of Toronto, Canada, as well as the whole world!
Any opinions on this channel are my own and do not represent the views of my employers.
Pearson's Transit and Intermodal connectivity is actually kinda insane when you lay it all out like this... I'm not aware of any other city in North America with this much planned Transit intermodality with an Airport as its focal point. I think this will be a coming feature of the city of Toronto that will make it stand out from other large North American metropolises!! Keep up the amazing work you two, I'm looking forward to seeing a Finch West LRT explained video :D
I can relate it to Paris airport with RER and a bunch of SNCF lines coming together. Frankfurt too. Within north America Miami has this sort of thing
I'm actually really excited about the Pearson regional hub.
I really hope the Pearson Transit Hub works out. With the LRTs, possible GO re-route and UPX it'll be extremely well-connected. The airport needs gates more than anything at the moment, the new runway is not happening anytime soon. I worked at the GTAA as a co-op student and there are folks there that have been trying to get some capital projects going for decades. The terminal(s) expansion along with integration with the transit hub is going to take a very long time... I'm 22 and hope I live to see it completed :')
Lmaoooo fat ford won't allow progress
Love the transit hub plan but also bizarre that the LINK train will be removed. That looks like a really long walk from the hub to the terminals
@@RMTransit Actually I found a PDF where it says the LINK train will still be operational
@@mrrobot5963 I hope it stays that way
Also it should be mentioned that the distance is actually not that long and the LINK train is actually pretty inadequate as a people mover. Unlike most people movers, the LINK Train is cable operated, which was a cheaper option to traditional APMs and VAL systems. However, being cable operated this means that there is only one train per track. Granted, the aforementioned distance isn’t that long, so it doesn’t make that much of a difference.
@@alexanderip1003 what the hell are you on about? Never heard of this “walk for values” stuff your talking about…
Great video. When you think about what it was like when only the old circular T1 and entirely unremarkable T2 existed, the current facilities are great, including the existing and future transit connections. When the "Trillium" T3 was built for Canadian Airlines, it was supposed to herald in a new era for Pearson connectivity - nearly 30 years later, finally some progress.
I definitely agree!
The 6th runway, and the one huge mega terminal was all supposed to be done by 2015. This is 2020 now. Aarre Peltomaa
Winter weather is definitely the reason many construction projects has to halt as the ground is too hard to work on
Another awesome video! I remember battling the crowds on the Airport Rocket, in the days before the UP Express
YYZ that was a cool Rush song
I used to work at YYZ for Air Canada in terminal 1
Great video 👍🏽
The transit bridge over the 401 should carry both Eglinton LRT and Mississauga Transitway buses. Of course, even better if MT was eventually converted to light rail as an extension of Crosstown.
They will need build these expansions ASAP. Terminal 3 is totally full according to pilots of airlines that operate there, and Toronto is seeing a lot of new routes/airlines coming. Air Canada doesn't want non-star alliance members in T1 (its fairly full as well), so we will have to see what GTAA is going to do about this post-covid explosion! Compared to cities in the US with similar passenger numbers, YYZ is actually on the smaller side in terms of passenger terminals it seems.
Great vid. I think Pearson Employment area needs rail links but they are not planned. Over 400,000 jobs in that area outside of the airport.
I mean eglinton will go through much of the area
nice
I think I missed something. How are people going to get to the terminals from the future Transit Centre if Link is demolished?
Looks like a long walk is in order
@@mrrobot5963 or split that line into 3 lines from the transit centre to each terminal and Viscount parking lot
Gold Line-International Terminal
Silver Line-Transborder Terminal
Bronze Line-Viscount Parking
Interesting video. I wonder what the future is in connecting the business parks surrounding the airport. It employes over 400,000 people. THis is Canada's 2nd largest employment zone and is mostly car oriented. Densities could be increased and a rail loop used to reduce the parking needs.
It’s sad there’re going to end the link train. It’s a nice connection to the terminals.
I wouldn't call it sad, the replacement will be much better.
Yes but like you showed in the video, the Eglington crosstown and finch west LRTs are going to terminate at viscount, while the UP express terminates at terminal 1. And also, having a connection to all the terminals by Monorail is nice especially if you’re just transferring between trains and not going across the country or world.
You aren't going to be ending up at Viscount, they will all end at the same spot
That would be more practical I know
I agree, they should keep the link.
Connectivity to the airport from the western GTA is sorely needed. Burlington to YYZ is 25 minutes by car off of rush hour, and over an hour by train. I hope it happens in my lifetime!
Great video. FYI -Pronunciation is V “eye” count, not V “iz” count.
I know I'm probably dating myself, but I miss the old Aeroquay One. It was small and circular, crowded, dark and bland, insufficient, and became obsolete relatively quickly, it still had charm.
GO trains linking to the airport in the future replacing the UP express line? It sounds like a good idea there.
I don't think UP would be replaced. Instead it should be an actual non-stop express service with higher fares to downtown, TTC subway would be the cheapest and GO trains in the middle with stopping service within the Georgetown corridor. Like how London does it.
@@RMTransit Really? Oh right you made a video on that!
@@mrrobot5963 If I remember correctly Madrid Barajas also had that sort of tiered metro/rail system to access downtown.
Viscount Road is actually pronounced *vie-count* not *vis-count*. It comes from the British. And the plans are very ambitious.
I would like to know about Calgary transit and airport please
Alright
CYYC has some tremendous potential!
Reece Martin Can you do a video OC Transpo whole system and the Ottawa Airport?
If the Eglington line is extended to Pearson airport, will that section of track be elevated?
If the airport was built near the coast, it would have been easier to build a new Terminal.
Hmm?
What about Billy bishop?
They should’ve built it near Port Credit or Oakville, Pearson could’ve also been a much bigger cargo hub since Ford has a factory in Oakville.
@@kxm7802 They would have to have made Hamilton/Toronto City bigger or add High Speed Rail service
They should build a rail track from gateway terminal in brampton to airport
Why don't they make the eastern gates on T1 similar to the western gates on T1, make it more symmetrical. Surely a mistake as you've included the H concourse further out.
more restaurants more shops and reactivate the infield terminal for Flying club members
The one part of the master plan that I don't understand is linking the terminals. They'd lose access to several ground loading gates on the back of Terminal 1. I don't think they'd gain enough gates to make up for it. Very few people need connect between the two terminals anyway.
@@RMTransit The diagram on page 64 of the master plan shows a connecting pier full of gates. Admittedly these look like full sized narrowbody gates and even a pair of widebody gates instead of the ground loading positions for little regional aircraft, but they'd still have to put the little planes somewhere.
Should cancel the 6th runway and build a state of the art T2 in that location. Once operational, teardown T3 and totally re-build it and integrate it into T1 for a mega terminal and bringing back a T1 T2 T3 nomenclature. This should allow YYZ to increase its capacity and learn how to use 5 existing runways better. (LHR only has 2 runways!!!)
It starts when the work on the new runways
I’d like to say. They have New Delta Airport Routes To YYZ
1. Newark Intel Airport - Toronto
They should keep pearson the way it is and expand Hamilton or Toronto City
Maybe they will turn the Up Express into a mini subway line or whatever. I like Pearson but the GTA needs another big airport in the east end.
It would be nice to the transit name witch lines are coming into the airport all the line dosen't tell me and the verb words either dose that make sense
Not exactly
What happened with Terminal 2
Replaced
@@RMTransit what do you mean replaced? Is it called something else now?
Denver international airport (DIA)
This channel could really do with a renaming. It is very confusing having someone being the "face" of the channel but multiple contributors overall. A UA-cam channel with multiple contributors should not be in one person's own name.
Also when mentioning Viscount station, know that the s in Viscount is silent (like Vie-count). You can hear this on the LINK trains at the airport.
At 7:08 the graphic shown doesn't really highlight anything. It would be useful to show proposed Finch West LRT route.
The channel has always had 2 contributors so I'm not too concerned about people being confused. I think people are more likely focused on the video topics.

It's Z, dear.
