Owning a 2013 SHO myself, I must say, I have had vette's try to hang with me in the corners and they tend to back off or can't keep up. So for handling, it CAN hold its own. I have also spanked on the newer HEMI chargers from a dig AND have pulled on some of the older HEMI chargers(with the lesser 400hp hemi). Is my SHO a race car, NO. Can it hold its own in all different situations, YES. If I want a car with more horsepower, I go to my garage and pull my 03 COBRA out. That is all, thanks! Love my 2013 SHO!
+03svtpower lol what year vette, an 86'? don't mean to sound harsh man but a typical vette is literally 1,000 lbs lighter and 1-2 seconds quicker 0-60, depending on the year. very nice car to cruise around in! but not quite a track car haha
Derek Anthony It was a C6 vette, older driver. Guessing he didn't want to push his rwd sports car as hard as i was pushing my awd car through the corners. For a 4 door sport sedan with the performance package, my SHO handles very well. I am aware of the power to weight ratio on both cars, my SHO is on the heals of the C6 vettes, hp wise. Straight line performance I know I'd keep up for a quick second. Haha
It means you have a vehicle that looks relatively pedestrian so when you pull up next to someone at a red light who is driving something flashy, it throws the other driver off and makes them more surprised when you embarrass them in a race.
I bought a 2019 and let me tell you this car is incredible, I knew what I was getting into when I bought it, and I was still amazed, the 3.5 is the star of this car, it’s incredibly cheap to push out 500+hp out the eco boost. Incredible sleeper
Your space efficiency comment was what I've been trying to say since this car came out, I'm glad to hear someone else say it. The dash, console, and door panels are all so bulky and enormous that this giant car starts to feel cramped. The cabin is similar in size to a crown vic but all the giant interior pieces leave no space for the passengers.
We usually do not push the cars past 5k. It's ok to do it for a sec to test the vehicle. Most customers will test drive the vehicle the same way. It's designed to handle it.
I have a 2010 SHO - I love it and people always comment on how it looks. Not many people even know what it is. Few mods here and there and 400hp is easy obtainable. I am actually looking to trade it in for a 2013 in the next week or so.
You didn't like the handling? Maybe you should have read motor trend's review! They actually took it to a race track and loved it. I think you are a bit to critical. I have a suspicion that you may be a GM guy!
Idk why y'all are upset. I've watched alot of his videos and he can absolutely rag on a car if he thinks it's a POS for the money. He actually said mostly positive things about it other then the size wasn't for him and we'll I've never seen him have a daily driver larger then a C segment sedan... Now he's in a miata so yeah yeah that kinda makes sense from his point of view. Not to mention he drove this bone stock. There's a simple cold air and spark plugs tune that raises this cars output to over 500 bhp.... Then yeah it's a sports car 😂
I like your videos I'm actually a subscriber but you were a little bit crude to the SHO i mean you're a short dude and the headroom could be better? A six foot 3 guy was in the back seat with plenty of headroom lol Also the handling is outstanding plenty of race car drivers have praised the sho for its handling its a big car we know its not a sports car but it can run with the best be nice !
I do feel the need to put in my input. I bought a new 2013 Taurus Limited and have to say I am not pleased. However, its a love hate thing. Sync is moronic at best, mpg is around 20.5 with a soft foot 18 pushing it. Certain trim pieces have begun to remove themselves from the driver door, but all in all a solid choice. 7/10 From a owner a series of Ford. Just my humble input.
I adore my '14 Limited, its been one of the best cars I have owned. Great tech, quality interior, very safe, great on gas, lots of power and drives like a Lincoln on the highway. If you looking for one used I highly suggest a 2013+ models as a lot improved. I would really try to consider looking for one that is as loaded as you find, a base Limited at the least. I crossed shopped 4 other full size cars, Avalon, 300, Impala and Charger. The material quality in the interior were no match with the Ford. The ride was so much more balanced, it was to sporty, to harsh or to soft like the others I found. It does it all right.
Thank-You Ford I have a 2015 Ford Taurus Sel today is 1 year since I bought it and I just ❤️ it and a Great camping 🏕 car my very first car with a backup Camera 😍
Many people who evaluate the break in style for engines will say its actually good to beat on it. It gets rings and stuff to sit in properly, maximum compression, etc
I am so glad you mentioned that it would be better if Ford used the Fusion platform for the SHO. My friend and I have had lengthy conversations about that. It would have been a lighter and faster car. Unfortunately, I don't think the twin turbo 3.5 would fit.
I own a 2013 SHO and honestly its one of the most enjoyable vehicles I have ever owned, I have more then enough acceleration to embarrass Chrysler and Chevy bigots. The biggest problem I have are all the damn Toyota's and Honda's that are in the way on the on-ramps. Damn rice burners need to stay off the expressways. Even the Dodge SRT's know enough to move over for the faster car.
+Phillip Kruse I got one about 3 weeks ago, basically the one in the video. Best car I ever owned. I came from a standard '08 Taurus, lol. Not too much in my area can touch me.
+Michael Molash I went and did it, I sent mine to Livernois and now my SHO just embarrass cars 3-4 times its cost. I have spanked euro cars with my AWD sleeper on assorted occasions leaving more than one AMG Mercedes dumbfounded. 0-60 in 4.7 and I have made 160 runs with plenty of room to spare. Was told that I could hit 180 if I had the urge. Before allowing these mods I asked about the Transmission and was assured it was more than up to the task. 20k miles later of heavy foot driving I can assure you all that it has yet to complain in any way. All with a ROOMY interior and enough leather to keep a dominatrix wet for a week.
I started Life as a Chevy man was raised in a Chevy family but like Marrying an ugly mean woman after awhile you just see all the faults and you move on because life is too short
...then on the belt parkway in Brooklyn l witnessed a Dodge Charger and a Ford Taurus chasing a SRT Jeep.....speeding, the Dodge was leading but the ford was right there the whole time. Good to see..
I happen to like the ride of a big car and like to travel a lot. I used to have a 94 Taurus with a 3.0 that was only about 158 hp and even it ran good for a big car. handle curvy roads real well. The only problem with it back then was a crappy transmission that would go into a natural like action at stops and you had to rev it to go into gear and it would bang into gear. Ford had a lot of recalls that year. After that I have never bought another Ford. Went with Dodge a Chrysler. I'm not sorry I did, but this new Taurus looks nice.
It does, no matter what everyone says. The gaskets need to sit in properly before you floor it at all. Ford has like a 1,000 mile break in. If you're purchasing a car, make sure you do that yourself. Don't go off flooring it. No matter what engineering, even racing engines that are "designed" that way still need to be broken in or else overall performance and reliability goes down.
My wife wanted a new Camry. All she ever had was Camrys, or, if we had the money, which we don't, she would get a BMW 7 Class, like her brother's which is a huge car. We don't have anywhere near her brother's income.I noticed an ad from a dealer for a Ford Taurus, not tricked out like this SHO, just an SEL. The price was interesting, and I was talking out loud while looking at the pic on the internet. It was repossessed from a broken lease and had 9,000 miles on it. She had driven a Fusion V6 company car, and liked it. So she said, "It's a nice price. Let's go drive it." We did. Everything was fine. In the dark I didn't realize that this car is as huge as the big BMW. We haggled and got what we thought was a decent price from the Honda dealer that had it. They wanted to move it since it had been on the lot for 6 months w/o a looker. I was surprised when my wife said, "I want it". I agreed. For that price we couldn't pass it up. We took it to our mechanic. He had fun with it. It checked out, and we bought it. At home I noticed that this car is HUGE parked in between our other two big cars, and it looked like dark thunder candy sitting there. I couldn't take my eyes off it. I didn't realize til then how big this car is, and she's a tiny Asian.. She's had it two months and loves it. She made it her 'executive' car. If Ford put in an executive style interior, like they should have done, and got rid of the name Taurus and changed it to 'Fantasm", or something else, like maybe bring back the "Thunderbird" name - they'd sell more of them, and at a premium, IMHO. I mean, doesn't 'Taurus' conjure up the image of that smaller, rounded edges cartoon car that the Taurus used to be? My wife's pretty savvy. She agreed with me, that for the money, there was no better deal by far that we could have got from another marque. It makes the neighbors' Lexus, Acura, and MBZs look insignificant and puny, not to mention 'plain'. I think the biggest difference is that it has a badge that says, ho-him, 'American maker-plebeian-car' - and I think that's why it made this car a steal.
***** I doubt ford would change the name they redesigned the taurus and sable into five hundred and montego and sales drop horribly when they gave it a slight update in 08 they brought back the old names and sales skyrocket because people know the taurus as a great quality american sedan
The car is tested at the factory to redline before ever making it to the dealer so its OK to push it even when brand new. Break in used to be more important in the old days but manufacturing tolerances are so tight these days that its really more of a relic than anything. I'd say that brake break in is far more important than anything else...
Good thing if you're not buying new. Let someone else eat the depreciation. The engines are pretty reliable, just like anything else you need to maintain them. Stay up on oil changes and all that. Biggest downside engine wise is the direct injection which leads to valve coking. A catch can will help prevent it, but eventually you will need to have the valves media blasted to clean them. The only other mechanical issue with the car is the PTU (fords transfer case). Ford claims it is a lifetime fluid, but its not made of unicorn blood, so that's not true. It needs to be changed every 15k/once a year. Other than that, they're solid, even when you tune them and pick up ~80hp and 100 ft/lbs.
I recently had the chance to compare the CHEVY IMPALA with the FORD TAURUS, BOTH ARE ROOMY AND COMFORTABLE, THROTTLE IS GOOD ON BOTH CARS BUT I LIKE THE TAURUS BETTER...
Hey, I really like your videos, and I'm wondering do you own a dealership or something and that's how you get the cars to auto review or did you make deals with dealerships? I really like your style with real world testing. I would suggest getting a better microphone to attach to your shirt to make it sound more professional though. Other than that, very thorough and great reviews, I watched you review on the Ford Fusion Titanium before I bought one.
i test drive the car before .and thought it was super slow because of the look . i just tap the gas .and the car went 0 to 50 with out me hearing the engine pulling the frame of the car when it was in first gear . the Nissan Maxima make that funny sound when the transmission go's in to second gear . the ford is so quite when the transmission switch in to second gear .i can feel the front wheels pull the car if i was driving a chivy Malibu . But i can not feel the pull with the ford Taurus sho
The SHO is the most mass produced feeling luxury car out there, it feels cheaper than the limited model and it's interior is designed worse than it's lower end brothers. I have a sho, it doesn't have a separate lever for turn signal and wipers and that drives me insane. The car is reliable but I'd rather have a clunker if it'd be more fun, more stylish, and was more normal in it's button layout and wiper lever allocation
I'm thinking of buying a certified 2013 Ford Taurus with 202,000 km. Its Jan/20/19 now and the asking price is $6,500. It has snow tires installed but I will need to buy summer tires. I asked the owner if I could take it to my friends mechanic and he said no problem Any advice for a first time female buyer?
The old V8 Crown Vic only went from 0 - 60 in just 8.3 seconds. Think about it, this is a V6, saving the town LOTS of money from gas pumps. Not only that, the Ecoboost V6 and even the regular V6 both have the punch of an old V8 and all have 0 to 60 times of 6 seconds or better. It's light weight so it'll help the police maneuver around the corners a lot better. Understand that brute power isn't everything. That's what the Ariel Atom has taught us with it's Honda inline 4 and the GTR's V6
This is a sedan. If you're looking for performance, yes...the Mustang would of course be the obvious choice. If you're looking for a sedan with some guts at a low price point the SHO looks pretty decent.
Think Ford should do some sort of exterior mods for the Sho to make it look different than the rest. Kinda like the Explorer Sport. I agree in part with what he said about a Fusion Sho. But then maybe they could make an Fusion ST with awe.
Have you even tried the new Ecoboost V6? It's amazing and really saves on gas. Lets be honest, fuel efficiency is key now days. You may have money to pay for all that gas but some people don't or some people don't want to bother slapping a bigger bill and giving everyone more money than they should have.
The “dead area” around the instrument cluster is a waste of space, make the gauges bigger. Proper tach and speedo then the digital stuff in the middle.
2010-sales taurus 68,859 charger 75,397 2011-sales taurus 63,526 charger 70,089 2012-sales taurus 66,066 charger 82,582 Is obvious people still wants RWD and optional V8. Since ford discontinued crown vic, charge sales rose in 2012, mostly from fleet sales from police departments, unless ford quickly convert the taurus to RWD and add optional V8 is going to decline further sales to the point ford gonna discontinued taurus
Also I have sat in one and the interior isn't as spacious as it could be, considering the size of the car. The interior materials are first rate for the class.
Thanks, nice job, but why change perfection? Hypothetically, if you are looking for something other than the ultimate sleeper (a nearly 400 HP beast appointed to take the family to Church in luxury) why would you buy the ultimate sleeper. Imo most peeps who actually buy them (like me) have no interest in clutch & stick shifting. Besides, it is auto OR manual (paddle shifts on demand, or full on manual paddle mode). Which, imo, is BRILLIANT kit! And fyi, it is an S. H. O. [super high output], not a "show". It's designed & engineered ..NOT to be show-ie. You want show-ie Ford? See the Stang, yeah?.
The price points on a 2013 SHO with the performance package are not similar to a BMW or Benz. That's the freaking point. For less than $50K (price it out, Ford is offering a $3k discount), you get a fully loaded SHO including a performance package, heated rear seats, rear window shade, etc. etc. etc. & great performance. To get the same size and level of luxury and performance you are talking $90K+ in a Benz or BMW.
Hey man, I'm a big fan of your videos, I love your reviews... However, I see "3.9 miles" on the dash and I see your putting your foot into it. Doesn't this car need to be broken in?
In houston, tx no cops drive this new Taurus, I ask them and they say they rather choose Chargers or restore Crown Vic's, I ask them why and they say the Taurus is smaller inside, no RWD and no V8.
The Fusion should have been the Taurus and this car should have been the new Crown Vic, then the SHO would have been more of a performer with better handling and lighter, thus quicker and more nimble chassis.
I like mine, but I wish that it had sportier seats. The interior is pretty much from the Limited. My brother had a '94 SHO and the seats were much sportier in the bolstering than the 2013. I also have been let down by the mobility kit and wish that it had a spare tire. When passing, the car just wants to go faster and faster. Excellent car.
isn't the taurus sho a candidate for the next gen of cop cars? which explains why it's only automatic for the the driver and passenger windows and not the rear. just a theory though...
You have to duck to get in? Cramped inside? Are you kidding? How big of a guy are you? I have this car I am almost 6'2" 240lbs and this is a very roomy car. The compartments work great! Plenty of room to accommodate passengers and the driver. Your review is bullshit. Space efficiency, you are nuts. I also fit in the back comfortably. Lousy review. People don't believe this review. Go test drive and sit in this car yourself. Very good performance, reliable, roomy with plenty of head room for tall people. Drives good on the road especially long distance. Wished it had better fuel economy but I love it.
Still, the fact of the matter is that there are very minute errors in manufacturing that you cannot handle and an engine, even modern F1 engines lose about 2 - 3 grams of metal. Not only that, you want the gaskets to sit right. So it's not only machining but letting the other parts work out their kinks.
Julio Romeresto I was kinda reluctant of the EcoBoost I-4s in the Fusion initially, but I rode in a 2.0L model once, the biggest and most powerful right now, and its quite impressive.
2021 I feel like my girlfriend wrote the script for this review, hates the size of the car talks about how the headroom could be better loves the trunk size says the back seat could have more room
try to fined something wrong with a car when there is nothing wrong at all like no one want's to beleave that a car is perfect me my wife kid's dad brother's no one i know has said anythang bad abour it not even the space my oldest brother is 6,3 245 lbs and he has no troble so quit lieing
nice sho good power with the eco boost....only question is how does the excape get better mpg dan it wit the eco boost and its and suv but over all everything about it is very good buy it any day
Yes. That's the point of the Taurus SHO. There are people who enjoy and appreciate fast cars but they've reached a point in life where comfort is a high priority. There's nothing wrong with that. Just because a car is fast doesn't mean you have to be bone weary and hear nothing but the drone of an engine on long road trips. I've put plenty of foreign car bigots in my Taurus and they've had to admit they've enjoyed the ride and have been impressed how it handles.
+Mike Jordan I've driven one of those. They are sporty for something that weighs 4400 lbs I guess but you feel the weight anytime there's some kind of transition. Turning in one directions it's not bad. The power is average at best. It's nothing more than a large car with a big motor. For the money, Id rather have An SS with a manual everyday of the week or a slightly preowned CPO M56 or 550i.
@@kdu8004 cool, until the high cost maintenance comes up and the mechanic tries to over charger you for all the so called high part and labor maintenance so yea enjoy the Chevy and BMW 😂
you do know the seet lowevers and move's back my dad is 6 foot 1 inch and he had no troble at all and the back seet has no trouble it touches the back of you're knee caps and you're legs go down you're in a car so you're not walking around so there's no point in moveing around unless you're one of them ppl that can't sit still cuz of disorder otherwise no problom it's more room than a mid sized car but yet no one says shit about the room in a mid sized fuison i mean come on i think it's cuz ppl
You mention 5 Series and E-Class owners trading down for an SHO Taurus. You find me one person who isn't under the influence, or bankrupt, that would trade down to the likes of the all American apple pie ford Taurus. SHO trim, or not, this would never be on the radar of someone shopping a BMW or Benz. It's suped up with some nice items, yes, but there is no equivalence in precision. While price points are similar, the buyer profile is not. It doesn't have the brand caché.
i think ford did an excellent job on the sho...both performance and luxury, tamed bull ready to run!

Good point as far as Ford should have a SHO version of the fusion, much smaller and with this motor it'll sell faster than it can make them.

“BMW 7 Class” 😂😂😂
to be versatile. This is a good vehicle for people who are constantly in traffic, but want the added performance on open road.
The car is tested at the factory to redline before ever making it to the dealer so its OK to push it even when brand new. Break in used to be more important in the old days but manufacturing tolerances are so tight these days that its really more of a relic than anything. I'd say that brake break in is far more important than anything else...
These depreciate in value way quick. Not sure if that’s a good thing or bad thing... I’m curious how reliable the v6 twin turbo is.
Great Review Of 2013 Ford Taurus SHO. 😁
Good video I like the 2010 styling better.
Had a 2010 Sho and it was a good car just traded it in for a 2013 well let you know in a couple years:)
Kialen055 well, how's it running?
So? I'm looking to get one. Any problems?
Martin Dennis ey man you still alive?
Ok it has been 3 years , How is running? Lmk before I purchased a 2016 sho
2019.. I'll see buy this car 2013 SHO. Save some money. 47K maybe now 15 to 18 K
I had a 2012 ford taurus limited it was as hell I loved it. But it got wrecked. I currently have my eyes on the 2013 ford taurus SHO
The 2013 Ford Taurus SHO is a fast car .
Enter the future 2025 no
Cool car! I️ have an si. I️ love my car, but was seriously considering getting this. Maybe in a year or two. I️ just wish I️t came in manual
That's what the Ariel Atom has taught us with it's Honda inline 4 and the GTR's V6
love the color, so beautiful!!
Wet
Calls it a luxury cruiser.
Complains that the exhaust is too quiet.
Goes on to complain about interior quality.
WUT?
He sucks. Doug is much better
It's still a decent car as of today.
I think it's too wide, I saw the 2010 one in person and was like damn, I would be afraid of having to drive one of those, especially where i'm from.
Other than the overall body shape, a lot is different from the other trimlines.
Have you even tried the new Ecoboost V6? It's amazing and really saves on gas. Lets be honest, fuel efficiency is key now days. You may have money to pay for all that gas but some people don't or some people don't want to bother slapping a bigger bill and giving everyone more money than they should have.
Is the bumper avaliable aftermarket? It would really spice up the look of a Taurus limited or even SEL.
One thing that’s not covered is the horrible crash test results. Only version that might be safe are the interceptor because of the reinforcements
The “dead area” around the instrument cluster is a waste of space, make the gauges bigger. Proper tach and speedo then the digital stuff in the middle.
The thing that blows me away is having to duck your head to get in. I've never noticed having to do it. The car is somewhat tall.
trust me in person its not. Its about 16 inches longer than the camry, 5 inches wider, and 3 inchers taller. The wheelbase is longer as well.
THANKS YOU GOODNESS 🌟❤️🖤💚🤎 FAMILY DAPHNE COTTON ALWAYS 💜,
Im not sure if I like the new grille on the SHO.
2010-sales taurus 68,859 charger 75,397
2011-sales taurus 63,526 charger 70,089
2012-sales taurus 66,066 charger 82,582
Is obvious people still wants RWD and optional V8. Since ford discontinued crown vic, charge sales rose in 2012, mostly from fleet sales from police departments, unless ford quickly convert the taurus to RWD and add optional V8 is going to decline further sales to the point ford gonna discontinued taurus
you know the charger hemi engine is made in mexico right?
Also I have sat in one and the interior isn't as spacious as it could be, considering the size of the car. The interior materials are first rate for the class.
Beautiful color!
Well this car took over the crownvic so YEAH ITS BIG
Maybe it is the way the light is hitting it but it looks purple?
The Fusion should have been the Taurus and this car should have been the new Crown Vic, then the SHO would have been more of a performer with better handling and lighter, thus quicker and more nimble chassis.
The rear looks like an after thought but still a great car
Way better than Nissan Maxima and Dodge Charger!!!
Don't Sleep On A Maxima I Got One They Get Up
I like mine, but I wish that it had sportier seats. The interior is pretty much from the Limited. My brother had a '94 SHO and the seats were much sportier in the bolstering than the 2013. I also have been let down by the mobility kit and wish that it had a spare tire. When passing, the car just wants to go faster and faster. Excellent car.
I just got wood when you said Fusion SHO package if it was AWD same engine id buy it
isn't the taurus sho a candidate for the next gen of cop cars? which explains why it's only automatic for the the driver and passenger windows and not the rear. just a theory though...
10:38 was that a v6 sho turning right? lol
Still, the fact of the matter is that there are very minute errors in manufacturing that you cannot handle and an engine, even modern F1 engines lose about 2 - 3 grams of metal. Not only that, you want the gaskets to sit right. So it's not only machining but letting the other parts work out their kinks.
If they produce a Fusion SHO they best put the 2.7 Ecoboost in it! However, I don't think theres room under the current gen's hood for a V6 :(
+Zach Travers they could put the Hi-Po 2.3L EcoBoost from the upcoming Focus RS
The I-4s are what would keep me from getting a Fusion
Julio Romeresto I was kinda reluctant of the EcoBoost I-4s in the Fusion initially, but I rode in a 2.0L model once, the biggest and most powerful right now, and its quite impressive.
+Zach Travers Wow! You totally predicted the future. Ford is actually introducing a 2017 Ford Fusion Sport with the 2.7 Ecoboost V6.
It's out now... but it's slower than the SHO. Go figure.
Big trunk wonder how many body's can fit back there?...
why should they market it as a luxury v8 model taurus if it's a twin turbo v6.
it is 100% a performance car
2021 I feel like my girlfriend wrote the script for this review, hates the size of the car talks about how the headroom could be better loves the trunk size says the back seat could have more room
try to fined something wrong with a car when there is nothing wrong at all like no one want's to beleave that a car is perfect me my wife kid's dad brother's no one i know has said anythang bad abour it not even the space my oldest brother is 6,3 245 lbs and he has no troble so quit lieing
nice sho good power with the eco boost....only question is how does the excape get better mpg dan it wit the eco boost and its and suv but over all everything about it is very good buy it any day
People who like big cars like to go fast too.
I think 1994 or 1995 was the last year ford put a manual transmission in a sho.
It doesn't have the brand caché.
i like the steering wheel. looks similar to bentley's new steering wheel
That was the 90s Taurus SHO engine; not the new models.
"Most of them are fully loaded." That is exactly the problem with Ford. All these options raise the price of the car by 5 to 10 thousand.
He was just trying to find something to talk shit about. He must drive a fiat lol
over 50% of the sho buyers are coming from luxury nameplates so it is in fact true.
Only thing I did not like about the one I drove was the view out the rear window was tiny.
man what a boat
