      I have Hashimotos. Every time i eat something with higher iodine(salt,seafood, seaweed) my nodule gets big i can barely swallow. itctriggers a flareup.
      my doctors told me i absoluteky cannot have iodine, not even synthroid. i can only have levothyroxin without iodine. I tested with electrodermal testing and my iodine levels are suuper low. my question is what should i do?

    It's impossible to have a dinner party these day and get 6-8 people around table like people used to. Everyone is fanatically and proudly avoiding something, be it oxalates, meat, diary, legumes, nightshade family, grains, starches, nuts, saturated fats, eggs and on it goes.

      So true!!! Gone are the care free days when a get together was a time of sharing best recipes and not be so focused on one's new diet or lifestyle. It was a time to ENJOY the moment with friends, loved one's, not impose opinions or ideas. My group of friends remains respectful of one another by acknowledging that we all have highly specialized dietary needs. We bring our own food to eat,and if we want to bring extra for others to partake of,we put the ingredients on a little index card. There are too many dangerous side effects in foods these days and especially if you’re getting up in years,can be fatal. What’s most important is gathering together,not complaining about food sensitivities.🥰

      People sometimes forget that with trying new foods/diets, you need to go slowly and in small quantities. You're cells need time to adjust to all those "good" foods... it's a form of exposure therapy but just with food. If you don't lack any nutriens and vitamins then you don't need to change your whole meals, sometimes you just need to add healthy snacks. A lot of people forget to do their yearly blood work and other tests that will help them know where those additions are needed. Some things are genetic, doesn't matter how hard you try.

I am 41 years old and I have never heard in my entire life that spinach wasn't healthy. I have seen many people around me live well into their 80s or beyond while eating primarily fruits and vegetables. How is it possible that people from the past ate all of that without knowing it was bad and still lived such healthy lives for so long? I feel that when you are unaware that a food is bad for you, it actually isn't. I believe that being less informed about diets might actually be better. It seems like we can't eat hardly anything nowadays.

      spinach in most cultures is consumed traditionally with animal fat. So butter, milk, meat etc. always next to that spinach. That mitigates the oxalate problem. Same for a lot of other beans and roots, there are traditional ways of preparing them to remove most of the toxins and consuming them with animal products helps a lot. That is why most people in the past were not seeing the same level of health problems. Nowadays if you buy beans or spinach in a can you can bet they are not prepared traditionally so the toxins are not removed / minimized. Also most people no longer consume these foods with animal products. that’s the difference to my understanding.

    • @timetravelartist
      @timetravelartist 2 місяці тому +10

      also, if you want to talk about fruits: until recently fruits were never considered food that can be consumed in any amount. they were seen as a treat, as a desert, usually eaten only after lunch. Only recently entirely replaceing a meal, like starting your day with a spinach/fruits smoothie - juice became common. Also observe when the “eat healthy” propaganda addresses this issue they never say it’s healthy to eat “vegetables and fruits”! they always say it’s healthy to consume “fruits and vegetables”! so fruits first, or more fruits than vegetables is healthy. It’s “quite healthy” to replace an entire meal with a fruit salad, right? our elders never ate like this. They ate only local fruits , only in season, and only as desert. never as a snack between meals or even replacing an entire meal. And to close: I am sure the growing numbers of children with diabetes under the age of 10 has nothing to do with healthy fruits, right? must be that bad fast food, not the healthy fruits!

Dairy products cause inflammation, no matter how much you eat something that says it is lactose-free, like 24-hour yogurt or aged cheese, there is still something there and causes inflammation in the digestive system. Butter gives prostate cancer. Pork has parasites and other diseases, it's no wonder that Jews haven't eaten it for thousands of years. Just my opinion: Although some might not be able to eat food with oxalate or just choose not to. Those who do, make sure to lower consumption.
    Here are some tips: - cook, simmer, steam or boil food, heavy with oxalate, before eating (throw the cooking water away) . - The calcium in yoghurt, kefir, cream cheese and co. will help bind the oxalate before finally digesting. You can also use millet or tahin (anything with calcium). - You can additionally peel if possible as the most oxalate is often under the skin of the food.
    We have oxalobacter in our gut to help eliminate this. But 3-5% will be left to be absorbed by our kidneys, so do not over do it with the oxalate. Overdoing it can cause kidney-stones, as mentioned.

      Don't you need carbs to rebuild your glycogen reserves ? As a bodybuilder, I tried keto, but I felt very bad in less than a week. It seems that carb cycling works very well in my case (3-4 meals low on carbs or even zero-carb, followed by a carb reload). I guess we have to experiment, since a diet can be good or bad depending on your gut health, your physical activities, your stress, and so on.

    • @Arggggggggg
      @Arggggggggg 6 місяців тому +3

      @@matthieusavary983 you don't need to ingest carbs for glycogen stores if you eat enough protein and fat. When you deplete glycogen, you use stored fat for energy as ketones, and any protein that isn't needed for muscle and other tissue repair, is converted to glucose by gluconeogenesis, excess is stored as glycogen, and overeating protein is bad because what cannot be stored as glycogen is converted and stored as fat. But if you're keto, and not eating carbs, you'll access some of that fat if you stop eating too much fat and protein.😅

Avoid as much processed foods as you can, eat a variety of foods and aim for nutrient dense foods, balance between cooked and raw foods, and balance between the food groups: vegetables and fruits, proteins, and whole grains. Drink water.
    There are no superfoods. If you truly eat a variety of foods, then you will probably eat a balanced, and therefore "healthy" diet.

      You don't eat meat, so your liver is sluggish in making bile, even though if you never ate any cholesterol, your liver makes more than you could possibly consume. Bile is liquid cholesterol with insanely strong acid. When it is stored in the gallbladder but rarely used, it thickens into balls of a jelly consistency. With the name like gallstones, you'd think they'd be hard like rocks, but they are more like boba. lf they get too hard or large, they can either get stuck in the neck opening of the bladder or block the opening altogether. And when the sac squeezes to no avail, it squeezes harder & more in a panic, which is referred to as a gallbladder attack. So when eating no meat, no fats, & with no bile, fat soluble vitamins such as A, D, E, & K go unabsorbed. Even the absorption of B vitamins & vitamin C are affected. Again, when the production of bile is sluggish & the subsequent replacement of wornout cholesterol with replacement of fresh everything gets stalled, so there are cascades of effects throughout the various systems of the body. Your brain is essentially water & cholesterol, hence the joke fat head. The membrane of every cell in the body has cholesterol as a component, so without it, we would all be a blob jello on the ground. Medium chain triglycerides (MCT) are good for the heart, & what do these bond to? You guessed it, cholesterol. Fat & cholesterol are not the demons that Ancel Keyes, Sigmond Freud's kin, made them out to be by purposely cherrypicking data from around the world.
      Maybe no meat is working very well for you, just as no fruits or veggies work for others. But remember if the gallbladder is not periodically dispensing some bile, it is stagnating & your rates of absorption of certain minerals may also be affected. Squeezing bile from its storage sac is normal organ function & removal of the gallbladder mean the liver would be constantly trickling bile into the small intestine, but not at a strength to function as intended. That's why those who have had their gallbladders removed are warned not to eat meat, fat, etc, though they can easily take an oxbile supplementation prior or during each meal to mimic the lost activity. And keep in mind cholesterol that is in the bile that still reuseable after digestion is actually reabsorbed & sent back to the liver. So cholesterol is not only a cycle, but a constant recycling system. The more that is used, the more that replaced.
      I hope this info made a difference for your understanding of the liver, bile, gallbladder, gallstones, digestion, reabsorption, & return cycle, even if it doesn't change anything physical in your world. Knowledge is power & the more we understand. The better decisions we can make with our lives & bodies.

      Dr Gregor would destroy her science. I watched this because a friend asked me to. Honestly, I have never seen anyone state this much mis/dis-information in one hour as this woman to give people false hope. She stated she's 60 in this interview and has been sick most of her life. I'm 60+ and I've always been plant based, and high raw. I eat 3K to 5K+ plant based calories every day (everything she says not to eat I eat quantities of). I do not eat meat. Plus I have plenty of friends who have been vegan for 50± year's with no issues. I hike 40+ miles a week and rarely sick. All I can say is educate yourself, and listen to your body.

    I would suggest if you continue to consume some veggies or fruits eat it separately from animal based foods. After animal based foods consumption don’t eat other food group at least 2-3 hrs. Because of anti nutrition properties of that food group it will interfere with proper digestion of animal based foods. 25-30 years ago Dr. Chopra wisely recommended this and a lot of people had enormous benefits to follow it. Good luck everyone ☺️❤️

I suspected oxalates and did some research finding a JAMA article that said the body rids itself of oxalates through the kidneys and skin with breakouts. Now, when i have too many oxalates, I'll get one of those pimples or two. This might be why i have a thyroid nodule, which doctors will tell us have no cause that they know of. I wonder if eye floaters are the result of oxalates. Thank you, for your work on oxalates.
