Warren, just know there's a hand full of us out here that would drop what we are doing to come down and spend some quality time helping you get caught up. I wish the service industry was like the old school farming community. Where if a fellow farmer had and accident or was sick and couldn't work the farm, the neighbouring farmers would rally together to help out their neighbour. Sadly that doesn't happen all that often any more. I know if there's one person who would truly appreciate that type of help, it would be you. You Sir, have the integrity and honour that makes you an asset in your community, you always rise to the call for help, regardless of the time or day. That's what makes you deserving of any help that comes your way. Go easy, heal that knee and remember there's a bunch of us that would gladly spare some time to help you. Stay Safe, heal up & Cheers Thanks for the video update!

That would be nice. Along with all the other vanishing values. I am sick of every customer being backstabbing, nitpicking over nothing, two facing crybaby, politically correcting, clipboard carrying know it all, cunts.
And don't get me started on so much "safety" I can't do my job.

@@robertstock9912 was just talking to a foreman of a paving company, he offered a guy who was begging to learn how to run loader 25$ an hour. Guy was receiving no pay raise but his wish of learning how to run the loader was granted, when given an in depth job description of how it wasn’t going to be sitting in the air conditioning all day and that grounds and maintenance was to be performed on the plant in case of a breakdown, he said unless I get a 5$ pay raise I’m going to stay in the dump truck, in air conditioning. His whole shift. And people wonder why they have nothing or get nowhere ahead in life. My first job was in 2012 I received 10$ an hour, on fridays I was given lunch from my company. I felt like I won the lottery when that happened. And a year later when my pay was raised to 12.00 I just about wanted to faint, working hard my dad taught me to value every penny you earn. And granted I’ve had my own financial problems in time, I always respect where the dollar came from. No matter how big or small.

Warren you are the best mechanic on yt, honest, say what's on your mind, and one hard worker. I was worried not seeing a video, sorry about your knee. I have a torn meniscus, and had ACL reconstruction in the other knee, but tore the meniscus in that knee last winter. If you are like me, it won't take you long to be back to work. Use heat instead of ice, because heat brings blood to help you heal. If they suggest a compression ice sleeve after surgery, it's bs, and will slow the healing. You might get by with a good knee brace for awhile, mine has been torn in my left leg for a couple year's, and last winter on the right knee. Do what you need to do, everyone needs a break, and you work long hour's just doing your non yt job. I will always be glad to see a video, even if it's not frequent. I will pray for you brother, and no i don't believe in organised religion, but read the Word myself. GOD bless you, the wife, and kid's.

Self employed have only one person to look out for them, and that's themselves. as true in the States, obviously as is here in the U.K. If you were under an employer I suspect you could have six week's off, paid. Ironic as I would think you are paying more tax into the system being self employed. Take care. Pup looks to be enjoying life. Thanks for taking the time to get this video out. Warren.

Warren, Glad to see you back, As a retired lifelong Diesel/Truck mechanic, I've had just about every type of injury there is; When I first started turning wrenches for a living I was doing what I loved, but no one told me about all the injuries that are a part of our career, I've had the meniscus tear, broken fingers, a hernia surgery from lifting heavy parts, Knee sprains, Shoulder sprains, back disc problems. After I retired I had both knees replaced and had my right shoulder replaced, It all just comes along with our career. Be careful out there, the next injury is just waiting to happen.

Got out of the navy, served an apprenticeship in a construction trade, and then was self employed my whole life. If I didn't work we didn't eat. Couldn't collect unemployment, and only had health insurance when the kids were little. Just too expensive after that. So I know where you're coming from. Keep up the good work, there's not many like you left.

Warren, I am a farmer up here in Montana and going through similar meniscus injury. Been hobbling around and dealing with it until I can maybe get something fixed in off season
I don't know how your injury is, but 6 months into mine and I can do great work for 2 weeks then will tweak that knee and have to hobble for another week or so. My doc said I can keep on coping with it as long as i need to and shouldn't cause more damage, hope yours is the same situation.
Appreciate all you do and your knowledge has helped me more than once. God bless and keep on rockin'

I know a few people that live just fine without reconstructing surgery on a partial tear. I know, medical advice online.. heh. But here goes:
    - prp injection (platelets enriched plasma, from your own blood) along with hyaluronic acid, greatly helps the knee articulation/ligaments healing and reduces swelling
    - wear an orthosis, pick according to the diagnosis (which ligament was torn). It helps stabilizing the knee joint and limiting the extreme range of movement. Even simple elastic fabric ones without reinforcement help a lot (with pain too).
    - don't be static for extended periods, you're already doing that. The knee joint isn't irrigated by blood, movement makes the lymph flow. Laying in bed also leads to muscular atrophy, further strain on the joint.
    - kineto therapy, there's a series of exercises designed to help muscles support the joint and take the strain away from the ligaments. Not all exercises require apparatuses, so they can be done at home or with improvised devices. Inquire with a specialist.
    - physiotherapy, electrical impulses help, sessions are short, Inquire with a specialist.
    - if you go for surgery, they should ask that you're in good shape before it. The resting period after will atrophy the muscles so it's better to start in good shape rather than being already weakened.
    - dietary supplements, will be prescribed by the doctor.
Source: a complete anterior ligament tear in my wife's left leg, leading us on a path of about 4 years to recovery, with surgery and mistakes along the way.
Best wishes, good health and a speedy recovery good sir!

A small solid state scope connected between canh and canl may be a good tool to get more insight into the problem. I'm sure you know this, but the can buss is a transmission line, carrying high speed pulses, which, when working properly, are easy to see. Pulses sent down the line, when they arrive at an improperly terminated end, see a mirror of impedance mismatch, and are reflected back up the buss, interfering with communication. This can be seen visually on a scope, and could show a temperature related issue as its happening and before it quits. Just a thought. Love your videos, don't stop making them.

I am glad you're moving around. Downside to your injury you're going to use your body to compensate for your injury. It can cause/normally will create problems in other areas the other knee back and so on. Your surgery shouldn't be too much down time if the right Doctor/quack dose it. You know mechanics run till it broken or beyond repair or collateral damages. Three little incisions if you're lucky. The other route I would put it off until I can't walk.

Good luck with the knee. I did the same exact thing on mine. Did an orthoscopic surgery to trim/repair. It helped for sure, as I suffered for years with it partially damaged until I finished it off in a ski accident before I finally didn't have a choice and had to get the surgery.
This winter when we slow down I'll come help do whatever you tell me to in your shop if you want for a few days if you do end up getting that surgery.
Nowadays I try to think about what I do before I do it (movement) and always have 3 points of contact on equipment, etc. Mainly no jumping off stuff anymore buddy!!! Take care!!
Those elastic ace bandage that are like a piece of heat shrink tubing you slide on your knee can really help reduce the swelling fwiw.

Your business COULD be taken from being a one man band, to being a major success orchestra .... By hiring a business manager, an office manager, a shop manager (you) and 3 to 5 qualified mechanics .. You would still be the boss, but everyone would receive a steady paycheck, you would have to upside your facility, you would be personally protected from liability, the hours billed would get collected, the trucks and equipment would be upgraded and paid for, no one would be uninsured, unemployment benefits would be part of the operating costs, business expenses would be built in to the hourly rate and the customers would not be able to treat you like a slave... And you, would be setting yourself up for what is coming ... and THAT is just the future, and maturing in your career... It all starts with trusting the right person too help you get that going... Turning the shop billing over to ..... HER ... Because farmers, truck drivers and equipment operators won't argue with a lady on repair costs .... Your business will explode and you will learn to manage that ... They NEED YOU. Not the other way around... jus sayin ...

Not trying to be rude, but that's exactly what makes me different than all the other shops is not having all the overhead of having the useless people the payroll who think their worth a million dollars and won't show up on time and screw everything up they touch and you have to go behind them and redo it for free, but they still get paid, I got enough headaches without dealing with worthless people.

@western truck and tractor repair .. We sort of have that trouble at Stotz John Deere here in Cortez CO .. But we started paying that position a little more .. the bean farmers are happy to pay it, rather than haul equipment to the shop.. I understand the dilemma of being a sole proprietor.. but there are also a lot of blessings along with the headaches.. I bet there are just as many of those, either way you go... But adjusting your rates to have office help, incorporate and ease into training a helper ... that's how you grow into that ... I FULLY understand both sides ... Either way, it's really hard to find anyone anymore, with good savvy and solid work ethics. Good fortune to you brother. 👍 I really enjoy your channel..

I’m a metal roofer, hurt my back again doing something stupid un work related which is a kick in the pants. I’m in the same boat. Not easy to live without money coming in and all I can do is try not to be depressed while I heal. I will be changing careers soon and hate to, but I’m only 40 and will be crippled if I don’t slow down and change what I’m doing. Sorry to hear you hurt your knee, best of luck.

Warren good to see you’re around mate ! just a long range warning, if you work through, favouring one leg for too long, it has implications for your back. My osteopath told me after sorting my back out, that my knee had not healed well but that I had compensated by swivelling my pelvis every right leg step. So my right leg was not driving properly. After about three sessions he managed to free my leg muscles up properly and I was walking normally , been fine for twenty years.
What I’m saying is, if you work round it, as we tend to do, you’ll likely cause yourself worse grief. My osteo said that even if you walk slowly you need to put your full weight on that leg for two hundred steps a day, to heal properly.

I seen the notification. Hope it's better. As a heavy mechanic, I understand what you mean about your time. Some of these asshats don't have a clue. Do what's best for you. Take it easy and keep it greasy!

Hi Warren, I tore my right knee meniscus and went to physical therapy. Honestly, what helped me the most was the bicycle with no resistance. Ride 5 minutes one way, 5 minutes the other. Do it 3x a week and add time and resistance. I think it was like 60 rpm.
Ain't got no money for surgery here, plus I was told there isn't much healing from the surgery anyway. A year later and I'm 100% back to whatever 51 years old would normally feel like. 😂😅

Great to see you back Warren. Look after yourself, to look after the family. Being torn up is part of the course in this line of work, my wife has had enough of me complaining about my back, and I’m 37.
    Stay safe out there!!

Warren. I've had two meniscus repairs. Early 90s took 3 days without crutches and 5 months before I could crouch. Mid 2000s had another, never used crutches and could crouch within 2 weeks.

KT tape. Knee wraps. Not getting any younger. Self employed or not you gotta take care of it to that body that makes you money. You are the hardest working mechanic I have ever seen. Good luck Warren. Be good to you.

Warren, we understand your issue completely. I've been self employed in Canada and I don't get anything unless I work, so I understand completely. How long do you need to be off if they were to go in and fix your knee? I love your sense of humor. Take care my friend. We could do a Go Fund me if enough of your followers were to chip in a few bucks, you could get enough to get it fixed.😀
