This is why Norman was so impressed by him. Norman said that Peter's parents would be proud of him. By this, Osborn also meant that he was not proud of Harry. Harry obviously looks annoyed in the back.
Yeah. The Spectacular Spider-Man show really nailed this as well. You are constantly seeing Norman Osborne dismissing Harry and praising Peter. and then Peter here learns Harry is Spiderman and wants to be special like Harry (considering how he’s jus a ghost to MJ in the early Spideman 1 scenes) and becomes the Lizard (similar to Spider Gwen’s origins in Across the spider verse)
I feel like the casting choice of James Franco and Willem Dafoe as Harry and Norman Osborn doesn’t get enough credit. Their chemistry was perfect and they even look like they could be related.
I mean, Norman seems like a pretty nice dad. Not a cringe dad, not a tryhard "cool" dad, just a nice dad who socializes with and treats a respectful young man like an equal.
Gotta take a second to appreciate the casting here. Not just because they're great actors, but also because James Franco really looks like he could be Willem Dafoe's son
The memes are great but they do a disservice to this scene, at this point Peter is just a nerdy kid while Osborn became a billionaire by virtue of being among the, if not the, best scientist in the world, he's being humble by saying "I'm something of a scientist myself" and putting Peter on the same level as himself, Peter surprises Osborn by not only revealing to know who he is but that he is an active follower of Osborn's research. This scene happens way before any of them get their powers so no spider or goblin influence anywhere, just Norman and Peter.
I honestly really like the relationship between Peter and Norman in the film. They genuinely respected one another (even if it was at Harry’s expense) until each of their identities are exposed to the other and until the Goblin persona won out Norman was distraught about the idea of hurting Peter. It’s a tragic example of never meeting your “heroes” from Peter’s point of view and a testament to how far gone Norman is in his insanity and lust for power that he’s willingly to kill one of the few people he forged a genuine connection with. We can only hope Norman’s return in No Way Home can be this nuanced
I also like, at least to me, the relationship didn’t necessarily come off as Norman thinking of Peter more as a son than Harry but instead he viewed Peter as a kindred spirit/himself when he was starting out so he respects him and wishes the best for him which harry easily mistakes as showing more fatherly love
0:49 Harry's father loved ❤him. He loved peter & treated them equally. According to harry, Peter stole his father's love ❤️. I don't think that's true. It can't b as bad as he makes it out to b. “You know I’m something of a scientist myself” That was such a great callback, Instant chills. 😍
“You know I’m something in a multiverse myself”
When he said "you know I'm something of a scientist myself" my entire theater went nuts.
This hits differently now. If you know you know!
1:30 when he says "your parents must be very proud of you" he gives a glance to Harry which may indicate he wants his son to be something of Peter himself
"and you could understand it?" Norman is so proud of Peter
00:36 if Harry was Spiderman that would've been his Uncle Ben moment and Norman probably would've croaked later on 😂
and then Peter here learns Harry is Spiderman and wants to be special like Harry (considering how he’s jus a ghost to MJ in the early Spideman 1 scenes) and becomes the Lizard (similar to Spider Gwen’s origins in Across the spider verse)
He’s still something of a scientist himself in the MCU now 😂😂 the entire theatre laughed when that happened in no way home
James Franco cast as Willem Dafoe’s son is perfect in this movie.
Agreed.
I would love it if they play another father-son duo in the future.
Willem Dafoe will, hands down, always be the best character in all of Spider-Man live action films alongside J. Jonah Jameson.
Gotta take a second to appreciate the casting here. Not just because they're great actors, but also because James Franco really looks like he could be Willem Dafoe's son
Gotta say everything is perfect, from casting, plot and of course the catchphrase 😁
How could we have known that these two would be reunited after 19 years?
Norman in No Way Home: "I'm something of a scientist myself"
*snaps finger and points to screen
The fact that the guy playing the teacher was younger then most of the actors playing the students
I'm so excited we are going to see him again in No Way Home.
Hopefully
Tobey's parents must be very proud

You will only see him for 5 minutes
@@goldensilverstar the ed said 30 minutes
1:20 When someone is talking about chemistry and you remember that salt is NaCl
Tobey’s Spider Man sparked my passion for superhero cinema! And what a first meeting between hero and adversary!
The casting for this Spiderman trilogy was perfect
Toby is the Spiderman of my childhood. No one ever in any part of the multiverse will be better than him!!
0:17 the worst feeling
Most of the actors in this trilogy did such a wonderful job of portraying their characters that they just cannot be replaced. No Way Home shows that.
*In NWH(2021),after 19 years,Norman is still something of a scientist himself!!!*
Harry pulling up to a public school field trip in a Rolls is fucking hilarious.
1:20 when you offers help to cure all the supervillains
1:47 , my typical friend when her parents gets impressed by me .
" sHe WaNtS tO aDoPt YoU "
The memes are great but they do a disservice to this scene, at this point Peter is just a nerdy kid while Osborn became a billionaire by virtue of being among the, if not the, best scientist in the world, he's being humble by saying "I'm something of a scientist myself" and putting Peter on the same level as himself, Peter surprises Osborn by not only revealing to know who he is but that he is an active follower of Osborn's research. This scene happens way before any of them get their powers so no spider or goblin influence anywhere, just Norman and Peter.
As a grad student at Columbia, it just makes me happy to know that they have shot this scene at my university. Suck it, HARVARD!
"You know I'm something of a scientist myself"
You know this line is something of a nwh spoiler itself.
“You know I’m something of a scientist myself”
Still used 20 years later class of Willem Dafoe and role of Goblin at its best..
*This movie is nostalgic. It will be good to see the 3 Spider-Men together and Osborn return.*

2002 : 1:38 *See you again*
See him again in nineteen years
Bro seeing him say this exact line again was sooo freaking hilarious 😂😂😂😂
1:22 "I'm something of a scientist" 😍😍😍
"I think he wanted to adopt you" love these lines
The best spiderman
ua-cam.com/video/HtzX617Work/v-deo.html
Some people in the movie theater knew this and laughed, so proud
Best line - "I am something of a scientist myself."
1:21 It was so good to hear this line again
"You know I am something of a scientist myself" is an iconic line
I honestly really like the relationship between Peter and Norman in the film. They genuinely respected one another (even if it was at Harry’s expense) until each of their identities are exposed to the other and until the Goblin persona won out Norman was distraught about the idea of hurting Peter. It’s a tragic example of never meeting your “heroes” from Peter’s point of view and a testament to how far gone Norman is in his insanity and lust for power that he’s willingly to kill one of the few people he forged a genuine connection with. We can only hope Norman’s return in No Way Home can be this nuanced
10 days left.
It was nuanced, Indeed!
1:21 after 19 years, he says it again
I’ll take your word for it.
I was Screaming silently when he said this lol
You know why we came back here
0:49 Harry's father loved ❤him. He loved peter & treated them equally. According to harry, Peter stole his father's love ❤️. I don't think that's true. It can't b as bad as he makes it out to b. Norman osborn loved his son, harry & 💙welcomed peter into his heart ❤️impressed by all his achievements. Harry has no reason to feel left out or jealous. I think he was just sensitive. His father did love ❤️him & taught him/encouraged him to b strong.
Everyone: "Say it!"
*"You know I'm something of a scientist myself."*
1:25 Who would have thought in 2002 that in 2021 there will be a spiderman movie with another spiderman using nanotechnology suits....AMAZING....may be they use these little references in NOWAY HOME
