It’s crazy to think this came out in early 2000’s. The CGI and everything on here really hold up and still looks amazing. The detail on the Tobey Maguire movies I think far exceed the modern ones even.
Especially when that pumpkin bomb blew up in his face! I remember watching this in 2002 and thinking how far movie's had come along. Even Blade was good, but the digital effects weren't the best
This was the BEST and most brutal fight scene out of any Spider-Man movie. Nothing from any modern Marvel movie comes even close. I also love the small details like the sound of bending metal when Goblin tore through the web highlighting the strength of the web and the Goblin.
No man, you simply aren’t an impressionable teenage full of potential and hope anymore. You are now a grown man selling time punching a clock, and you are gonna do it forever. That’s what changed.
@jamiebowler4693 but none are as brutal as this scene here. Where we see Spiderman getting hurt. His costume getting torn. The villain is killed in such a brutal way by his own hand.
I like that comeback Spidey made in this scene. He went from getting his ass kicked to deleting Green Goblin fast. That's the difference between base Spiderman and peak Spiderman.
I wish they would show just how strong Spider Man can be in the comics. Because he can go toe to toe with the likes of Thor and Hulk when he's no longer holding back. We never get to see that side of him, and honestly, I'm rather disappointed. It would be amazing to witness that power in the MCU.
Even after everything he did, Spidey was holding back cause he didn't want to kill the Goblin, but as soon as he mentioned how he's gonna torture MJ before killing her, he signed his death certificate and Spidey fought with the strong desire to kill him
Why is no one talking about how amazing Defoe’s acting is, especially at the end when he was begging for Peter to stop, that was really Norman for a second but the Goblin started to slowly take over and if you pay attention you can tell by the change of tone in his voice until the Goblin was back in full control, even the fact that when it was Norman he referred to him as Peter but the Goblin referred to him as Peter Parker almost as if he was a stranger or as Spider-Man. Just A+ acting and writing
Villains always make the same mistakes. Whenever they threaten or taunt someone they love who is either alive or deceased it just makes the hero angrier & able to defeat them.
that only happens in fantasy lol, irl you shouldn't make enemies otherwise your loved ones are completely in danger no matter how "strong" you think you are, always choose to be peaceful unless you're provoked that's where you can fight back from a safe distance, honestly just avoid conflict in general. that's how you win.
Norman Osborn Wouldn’t Do Either Of This He Lost His Job and Also Lost His Son But Norman Knew That He Was Taking Some Heavy Drugs and Experimented On Himself With illegal Drugs That Made Him Turn into a Supervillain To Kill Spider-Man
I wouldn’t say Spider-man in this scene was just getting angry but that his resolve and will to protect was also reignited as well. Villains like the Goblin are often are often undone by their own sadistic and self centered nature because they fail to understand the strength that can come of a genuine resolve to protect those you love. At the end of the day most villains in movies and stories lose because they have no real conviction or resolve other than attaining power and dominance. If only this were true of selfish evil people in the real world.
This final fight in the dilapidated brick house always felt like a horror scene to me when I was younger. Very little music, tight camera work and overall haunting asthetic with the goblins face against the shadows, blood spraying from their punches, the debris piling higher and higher as they each wane in strength and resolve. It felt like a war summed up in a few decisive strikes. Truly a masterfully constructed fight scene, with story and character development to boot.
@@MRJK87.yeah I feel like that was why he said oh Never realized it till now but that’s totally why Peter was so adamant about not telling Harry. Spidey -"You tried to kill aunt May. You tried to kill Mary Jane." Goblin - "But not you!" Yeah, let's just ignore the ass beating he was giving spider man a few moments earlier. 😂

True, starts off all light-hearted and grounded, then by the end, we see Spiderman all bloodied and beaten harshly. Used to terrify me as a kid, even to where I didn't watch this movie in full for a long time
My favorite part about this scene is when Goblin pulls that fucking trident thing out of literally nowhere 😂. Like it cuts away to look at Peter, and then when it cuts back he's suddenly holding it. Gold.
3:50 this scene always gets me because the amount of force behind goblins punches would shatter somebody else’s face but spidey takes it and still focuses on saving the kids
Bringing that wall down on him pretty much ended the battle, a devastating attack. The sheer crushing weight. And those weren't your normal house bricks. Those were heavy duty. Suprised he survived that tbh
What truly makes Norman/Green Goblin a villain is those gas emissions coming from his glider… Wealthy white man not using clean energy is nasty work 😂 Side note: MJ catching the side rails after being super scared 15 seconds early was Spider-Woman worthy

It wasn’t the goblin who was begging, Peter really knocked the Norman back into him and goblin slowly started to take over again, you can tell by how Norman’s tone slowly and subtly changes back into the goblin. Superb acting by William Defoe
@@kvngbo1586Imo it was the Goblin pretending to be Norman in order to get the drop on Spider-Man after realizing one to one he was getting manhandled, Norman only breaking free after the Goblin's "death" to show that he was too far gone by this point.
