That's why also in this concert there are a lot of songs about a split or separation or divorce, like this one but also What now my Love, I'll remember you, My Way. 1973 was also the year of recording My boy, Fool, Good times charley gets the blues, Take good care of her, Loving Arms...

In 1956, Elvis made his network television debut with the first of his six appearances on "Stage Show," a weekly variety program hosted by Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey. He followed these with two appearances on "The Milton Berle Show," the second of which included a classic performance of "Hound Dog" that was so provocative (for that time, anyway) that it caused a national scandal. Elvis next appeared on "The Steve Allen Show," with Allen mocking the sensation of the Berle appearance by having Elvis dress in a tuxedo, eliminate his usual physical gyrations, and sing "Hound Dog" to a basset hound. Ed Sullivan had once said he would never have the controversial singer on his top-rated show, but that was before the week that Elvis’ appearance on "Steve Allen" had surpassed Sullivan’s ratings. Sullivan paid Elvis $50,000 to make three appearances on his show, which was, at the time, more money than any performer had ever been paid to appear on a network variety program. When Elvis made his third Sullivan appearance in January of 1957, Ed Sullivan surprised Elvis by telling him on camera that his show had never had a better experience with a name act, and said “I wanted to say to Elvis and the country that this is a real decent, fine boy.” It was on this very same Sullivan appearance that Elvis was shown on camera from the waist up only, one of early television history’s most memorable moments. Elvis’ next network television appearance was in 1960, when Frank Sinatra gave his variety show a “Welcome Home, Elvis” theme to herald Elvis’ return from the Army. Elvis was paid $125,000 to appear - again, making history.
I was so lucky to be there as kid of just 8 years old (my birthday is the same as Elvis, january 8th, he from 1935, me from 1965) To me his best concert in the 70's. It is also a luck that he made a good job of t his concert because the night before this concert Priscilla came to tell him that she started up the divorce procedure. But Elvis didn't let it come to his heart because he knew there was a very important thing to do, it was the first time that a singer did a concert by satelite, and till the day of today it is the most watched concert ever. This concert is also special becausde it is a bit different then his concert in 1972. In 1972 it was much rock 'n roll, and a lot of shakings and movements like with Proud Mary, Polk Salad Annie, but in this one it were more ballads, and ballads about a split or divorce, like this one It's over or What now my love, these songs indicate the coming divorce which as pronounced october 10 1973. After this concert Elvis would record more songs about divorce, like My boy for example. Aloha from Hawaii is also one of the so many examples how generous Elivs was. It was nl a benefit concert for a hospital on Hawaii specialized in researche of leuikemia. He sang i'll remember you of which the songwriter died because of leukemia. After Elvis introduced his band, which he always did, he thanked the audience for coming to the show and that the profit was 75000 US dollar and Elvis raised it again with another 75000 US dollars. So that evening he donated 150 000 US dollars to the good cause. His enormous generosity is for me one of the reasons I'm a very very very big Elvis fan. I always shall say: if we all would do what Elvis did, the world would be a much much better place!!!
