- My journey to understand Deen directly from Quran as well as from Tafsir. How Quran clarified the doubts and questions that came into my mind regarding Islam as a complete code of life.

I believe Islam is a complete code of life in a sense that it has given certain sets of rules in the light of Quran and Sunnah, guiding us about the right and wrong, while gaining worldly knowledge from other sources was never forbidden. May ALLAH guide us all.

Dr. Taimur a correction and an opinion for you
First, let me point out that Islam is a complete code of life. There are some basic principles upon which we have to rely and using these principles we have to make a system.
For Example: Islam says we should refrain from interest, so we have to devise such a system in this modern world that coincides with the rule of Islam which does not include interest. So, the sentence "a complete code of life" does not mean that we do not have to read science and other subjects. It means that the Quran and Sunnah guide us in every path and that these are the basic rules so we have to abide by these rules. Based on these rules, we can devise a system according to the need of the hour.
Second: The interpretation of Allama Maududi is in the context of religious guidance. It states that in every religious matter, guidance has been provided so you should follow the Quran and Hadees for guidance and seek no other sources. It is not in the context of reading sciences and other subjects. These are worldly matters and, in these matters, even the Quran says that travel throughout the land.
I hope I have clearly presented my arguments.

What a dedicated and enthusiastic intellectual Dr. Taimur is. He walks the extra mile to eduacte his people. He has such a good mix of energy and humility.
I am myself a professor who eagerly listens to his various presentations. He is an indefatigable warrior for knowledge. May Pakistan create many more scholars like him. I wish he taught at a public university so that a more diverse population could have benefited from him.

Sir, I would like to add a narration of prophet Muhammad pbuh on this matter from Sahih Muslim Hadith no. 6126(international numbering 2361) Musa b. Talha reported:
I and Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) happened to pass by people near the date-palm trees. He (the Holy Prophet) said: What are these people doing? They said: They are grafting, i. e. they combine the male with the female (tree) and thus they yield more fruit. Thereupon Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: I do not find it to be of any use. The people were informed about it and they abandoned this practice. Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) (was later) on informed (that the yield had dwindled), whereupon he said: If there is any use of it, then they should do it, for it was just a personal opinion of mine, and do not go after my personal opinion; but when I say to you anything on behalf of Allah, then do accept it, for I do not attribute lie to Allah, the Exalted and Glorious.
In some other narrations Prophet Muhammad pbuh said“ You know more about the worldly affairs than me ”

While i was listening to the lecture I thought exactly about this hadith, I think this clears a lot of these confusions. I think Deen is the way of life, Least amount of knowledge one needs to lead a normal life, anything else is bonus, and its not prohibited to learn these things. As long as one knows the basics, one can deduce "Masails" and other problems to lead a fuller life full of knowledge e.g. sciences, economics etc.

Very simple & clarified explanation is that "Ilm Ki Talab Har Musalman (Mard Aur Aurat )Par Farz Ha" ... "Ilm Hasil Karo Khawa Tman Is Ka Liya Cheen Jana Paray" Everyone of us has already heard these quotations of Prophets Muhammad SAW and other Qura'an verses where the topic of knowledge came up, there's no barrier for ilm it can be preserve from everywhere.
POV: Muslims have lost Ottoman Empire due to the lack of knowledge about guns and other things if Qura'an were been for everything then there will be no need for Hadiths at all but Prophet Muhammad Taught us ( by left of hadiths ) use your own brain according to your surrounding.

A logical & extremely thought provoking talk dr sb. I totally agree that God Almighty must have given basic guidelines on all important aspects of life in the Holy Quran but didn't stop the muslims to explore other knowledgeable sources too to survive, improve or excell during various facets of life and humanity. Instead the God Almighty has directed on many occasions in the holy Quran to dwell, ponder and understand various creations of the creator and happenings of the past to learn from the mistakes or good deeds of previous generations to get benefited on the day of judgement.

Arabic is a very vast and versatile language with huge vocabulary, the word deen has been used multiple times in quran and the meaning of this word you mentioned could be one of the meaning of deen of its many meanings like frame work of governance ,way of life ,obedience etc. you can get some clarification in this regard if you look at the meaning of word deen wrt to following verses of quran 📖 (Qur'an 4:125, 5:3, 12:76, 24:2, 3:85, 37:53, 3:83). and the surah which you quoted was revealed in a response to disbelivers offer to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) when they tried to convince prophet of their system by bribing him etc..
it would be great if you can elaborate the meaning of word deen wrt to the following verses 🔰 (Qur'an 4:125, 5:3, 12:76, 24:2, 3:85, 37:53, 3:83). also

The first pie chart is totally correct but unfortunately our mindset has been trained on the concept of mododi sahib , therefore we learn things unwillingly with an attitude of learning other things as undue burden. Henceforth we have not flourished with diversity and have myopic approach towards life.

تو پھر یہ جادو اور یہ سب ڈرامے کب ہوئے تھے؟ اور کیا ہوتے ہیں؟ سب سے بڑا جن ، بھوت اور چڑیل انسان خود ہی ہوتا ہے۔۔۔۔۔ ہم بچین میں تھے تو ہمارے محلے میں ایک لڑکی کو جن چمٹ گیا اور بعد میں معلوم ہوا کہ وہ جن دراصل ہمسایوں کا لڑکا تھا۔۔۔ جس کی بعد میں اس لڑکی سے شادی ہوگئی تھی۔۔۔۔۔
پھر ہم نے ایک جن دیکھا جو ایک بار پھر ایک لڑکی کو چمٹ گیا اور لڑکی کی زبان بند ہوگئی ۔۔۔۔۔۔ اب لڑکی کو ایک پیر صاحب نے کہا کہ یہ لڑکی تب ٹھیک ہوگی جب اس لڑکی کو اس قبرستان لیکر جاؤ گے جب لڑکی وہاں جاتی تو اس کی ملاقات اس لڑکے سے ہوتی اور یہ لڑکی کی زبان فوراً ٹھیک ہوجاتی۔۔۔۔۔ اور بعد میں معلوم ہوا کہ وہ زبان بندی ایک ڈرامہ تھا اور اس میں پیر کے ساتھ لڑکے اور لڑکی نے ملکر اپنے ملنے کے لیے یہ سب کیا تھا۔۔۔۔۔

یہ لوگ آج بھی زنا کرنے والے کو سنگسار کرنے کی باتیں کرتے ہیں جبکہ انہیں یہ معلوم نہیں کہ حضور پاکﷺ نے سنگسار کا اسوقت حکم اسلیے دیا تھا کیونکہ اس وقت کوئی تھانےاور جیل خانے کا کوئی نظآم موجود نہیں تھا۔۔۔۔ کہ ان گناہ کرنے والے کو کہاں اور کیسے رکھا جائے لہذا سنگسار کرنے کا کہا گیا۔۔۔ لیکن آج کا دور بہت جدید اور ترقی یافتہ ہوچُکا ہے۔۔۔ آج تو انتہائی جدید قسم کی سزائیں تجویز کی جاسکتی ہیں۔۔۔۔۔۔ لیکن یہ لوگ آج بھی سنگسار کرنے کی سزا دینے پہ ہی بضد ہیں۔۔۔۔ نہ جانے کیوں؟

Frst of all its we shld b happy if people like u come to explore Islam(explore under current age,i ddnt use da word modern as every age is current age).But i afraid if u l discuss it upto surface level n then diverge to som other topic.ur notice of Surah kafiron is really valid as by myself i realized religion n deen r 2 diffrnt things.but i always thought Deen is only islam idolation is jst religion..but ur notice of Surah kafiron jst changed my mind..i agree wd u at ds point..no matter idolators r wrong but theirs also deen n they do also ibada(i hav jst realized it too jst now).Now ur 2nd part of query whether Islam(jewishism..chirtianity n all other divine Adyans were also islam..diffrnce is by Prophet Muhammad salalaho alehe wassalam..it was completed).is a complete code of life..my answer is, Yes.ds place is narrow to qoute even few examples.i m jst giving a little..fasting is compulsory for us..further It is a sunnah(though not compulsory) to hav 1 day fasting in a week..Now science is realizing its importance..intermittent fasting ..n now even Autophagy is supposed to cure of acute diseases like cancer etc.Similarly the ayat"Eat n drink but dont b transgressors or extravagant" Now even i can giv a lecture of 1 hr on it though m not a doctor..n in my opinion hundreds of scientific books can b written on it..to explain..but we can see wdout doing so its enough for us to only act upon ds ayat..but da problm is there wud b n are majority of people who dont believe in islam or even after believing in islam dont giv much heed to many things in Islam(even when i come towards deen..i cudnt realize da real meaning of da ayat(above)..So man has to study in all walks of life as problm will occur..n he has to find out da solution in da shape of science n other subjects..n even Quran encourage us to explore knowledge...1 more thing u can see..how long ds so called modern age has gone yet..jst 100yrs or so...has it being tested yet its da best way of life...may b jst in 100 lts say 200yrs all may collapse..as we r depleting our energy sources rapidly..n u know in Quran we r asked not b extravagant in all walks of life rather b moderate..So u can see da result.Things r too much to say..but space is limited.

"Verily in the heavens and the earth are signs for those who believe." (Quran 45:3)
This verse emphasizes the importance of observing and contemplating the natural world around us as a means of recognizing God's power and majesty. Muslims are encouraged to seek knowledge and explore the universe as a means of deepening their faith and understanding of the world around them.
@@atiqurrehmanofficial7390 How did you conclude that this verse asks you to explore ? Islam means surrender. Exploring means asking questions and asking questions will make you lose faith. This is why moslem cultures have not produced any great scientists. Moslems are most backward in education and even today in paxtan in science books the pictures of body parts are frowned upon if not banned outright.

"Deen" of arabic means fasla in urdu
"Deen" word has traveled to urdu as well but the meaning is different.
"Deen" word in urdu means religion in English
Since the same word was imported in urdu but the meaning was changed hence the whole confusion.

The word in arabic for religion is "Millah" as mentioned in 22:78 quran. Millate Ibraheem.

Absolutely correct.. “Deen” being a complete code of life is a new concept not grounded in the Quran. The good thing is that whatever sounds illogical is not found in the Quran when one searches for it which is another proof the divine origin. Illogical concepts come from human error in understanding the book of God. Educated people need to talk more about religion.
Taimur's propaganda "education" wins here. Quran says "enter in this deen completely" "there is no deen in sight of Allah except islam", "this is deen ul haq the deen of truth" "yusuf judged his brothers alleged crime by deen of the king of egypt (the deen of king of egypt covered all aspects of Egyptian life economics, social relations, international relations, laws etc). Taimur has narrowed down the meaning of deen only to ritualistic aspect and no one in the comments section seems to be critical of his thought pattern and his video. They act as those who are fed anything as Islam and say "subhanallah!!" over it.
Deen as a general term means law. But when God talks about his law in the Quran, it is mainly the pillars of islam, beliefs and broad ethical principles to govern many aspects of our life. However, it doesn’t answer each and every question related to human experience and a lot of it is up to us to find out for ourselves. Like Taimur said, it can’t give you the cure for cancer etc. yes, we should enter completely into islam when it comes to our beliefs and morality. When Quran says there is no Deen with Allah except islam it is talking about the divine law. It means don’t follow any other laws as basis for your morals such as Hinduism, Atheism etc. obviously some of the islamic moral principles delve into the disciplines of social sciences, political sciences, etc but that doesn’t mean it gives us a complete and comprehensive social and political system.
