While listening to your show I had reminisced about the good Ol’ days attending tutorials and lectures on jabarites, kadariyas and to top it all mutazilum.
Honestly, no matter how much I like professor HB, I don’t agree with his argument about the intellectual declination of the Muslims and I have written numerous times on free thinkers posts; however, I look forward to your research on this and many thanks for your efforts ❤

Brilliant- but also shows how handicapped we are, even at this level of scholarly discourse to rely on the western “orientalists” to decipher the history of our own philosophical evolution. That has to be undone somehow.

Dr. Taimur may also comment on Ghamdi perspective that Ummad had the asabia of the people, as that is the norm for any system. Ghamdi is also of the view that khufaie راشدین was some thing ordained by divinity, as having such lije pious people as head of state, during that tribal milieu was not possible unless God willed it.

Mutazilah encouraged the Islamic world to use logic and reasoning. All the great Islamic scientist, Ibn Sena, Ibn Kindi, Ibn Rushd were all following of this Islamic philosophy. Ibn Rushd wrote a book to counter the claim of Al Ghazali in his book "The incoherence of the incoherence" in which he answered and also challenged the philosophy of Al Ghazadi and his followeres. Ibn Rushd advocated rationality over blind belief. This is why European credits Ibn Rushd for Renaissance.
so what's your take? those weren't wrong. ? I slightly saw series of imam Ahmed bin humbal , they were protrayed very negative ... so I have very bad picture of them.

@@nabilmostofa2249 I guess you haven't read The incoherent of the incoherence by Ibn Rushd. In the book, Ibn Rushd answers the questions raised by Al Ghazali and emphasize logic and reasoning. Maybe you should read the book before googling and commenting.

The historical and political context provides the necessary references to understand the subject. I plan to watch all the parts in this series. ‘Islamic philosophy is a political philosophy’ says it all. This really is the gist of Islam and all divine instructions, so to establish a fair, just and ‘egalitarian’ society.
This message, has been complicated by the jurists. The simplicity of the message makes it effective and comprehensible for all.
Dr Israr Ahmed used to say the exact same that it is a political philosophy and that scholars corrupted this idea and turned it into a nonpolitical philosophy.

I wanted to share a thought about maintaining objectivity when discussing historical records. In the first video, there was a comparison made between communism and Islam while discussing equality. While I understand the intention, it might be beneficial to avoid such comparisons to ensure clarity and accuracy. It is akin to associating the concept of free-will in Islam with free market principles leading to capitalism-a comparison that is completely wrong as well.
Overall, I find your series to be excellent, and I look forward to learning more from your insights.
Dr. Sahib,a good initiative to educate people. I would like to add that apart from qaddria and jabbria schools, majority of the Muslim believed in Taqdeer e Mubram and Taqdeer e Muolaq and this view is persistent.

تقوای کے لیئے اللّٰہ سبحانہُ وتعالیٰ کی ذات عالی کے یقین کی قوت درکار ہے لہٰذا عقلی فلسفیانہ ٹامک ٹوئیاں مارنے کے بجائے، ایمان و یقین کے بلند مدارج کے حصول کی محنت کو اختیار کرنا ضروری ہے۔ اس کامل یقین کے نور کی برکت سے اللّٰہ سبحانہُ وتعالیٰ قلب کی بند گرہیں کھول کر اپنے علم کے خزانوں سے علم عطا فرما دے گا۔

Musalman 1400 saal me aik bhe masala hal nahi kar pai to masala jabar o qadar ya taqdeer azli ko hal painge. Mulla mufti party ne jahalat pehlai huey hai musalmano ko ta qayamat jahil rakhnay ke liye abhi tak wo ye tay nahi kar pai ke agar pani na ho to gand kitnay dheelo se saaf karni hai.

Thanks for your deeply thoughtful Research of Islamic History. Quotes of Imam Hassan Al Basri regarding Philosphy of Qadarriya School of thought is highly authentic and valueable. Guidance comes from ALLAH whereas all humens are responsible for their good or bad acts. Imperialism or kingdoms of the world teaches to people that this is will of God that they are kings & have States whereas people should be obedients to kings only. This Theory is being excersized currently also in several kingdoms as well as Saudi Arabia.
When we go through the 🎉Quran ,we find that both jabbaria and qadria are convincing in their arguments.To me, it seems Allah wills the whole system like the trillion trillion molecules of air in a room which behave independently but macroparameters of pressure, temperature etc are fixed.

Historically our prophet directed us to pursue knowledge and in so doing directed us to go to distant China for acquiring knowledge. In pursuance the Abbasids (Baghdad) and Umayyad (Damascus) and Persians collected knowledge from India, Greece and China etc., compiled libraries all over the place, Andalusia, Timbuktu, Europe where 400,000 books were collected (mostly burned by the Turks/Mongols. This trend was fueled by M'utazilla (which probably meant 'question everything'), when the Hanbali school preached science is not needed, knowledge can be had from Quran ( stark violation of what the prophet taught), thus started the downfall of the Muslim 'golden age', never to recover and lead scientific investigation, which went to the Christians.
Dr Taimur please do justice to this topic by presenting The Efforts of Muslim scientists who were rather criticised by Traditionalists(Ulemas)
Also, if possible present the works of those Muslim Scientists who belonged to Traditional school of thought as well.
Most importantly, Scientists who were either Mutazili or Tradionalist did they draw any inspiration from Quran or Hadees while making those ground breaking discoveries?
This can settle this debate whether Islam should be credited with Scientific Achievements made by Muslims or not.

Looking into history I just came to know that the insecurities of the Umayyad Dynasty to cover up their mess in fitna 1&2 became the reason of Islamic Downfalls and the current situation in Pakistan totally refers to that.
