- Can New Super Mario Bros. U be beaten without ever touching a single coin? New Super Mario Bros U is one of my favorite Super Mario games, I replay it every couple of months. But I usually not only try to beat NSMBU, but I also challenge myself to play through the game in a certain way, so that it stays fun, and challenging. So for my latest playthrough I thought it would be fun to try to collect the least amount of coins possible, while still beating New Super Mario Bros. U.
In this video we will discuss, all the problems we face when we try to beat New Super Mario Bros. U coinless, and we will finally find out what the minimum amount of coins required is, in order to beat the game!

In fire snake cavern, I’ve found out that using a mini mushroom will work. As soon as you exit the pipe, quickly keep spinning to the right until you reach the wooden flying planks. You’ll dodge the sneaky coin.

Well considering what coins are used for in mario games, little instant dopamine or "it just feel good to collect coins in a mario game" putting a inavoidable coin as that is bad design, coins feel rewarding when you have to collect the coin, but in that one you dont collect the coin, you just are droped on it, so it do not make that sensation, is not big thing, is in fact a minuscule thing, but still that coin is a coin that should not be there

In Fire Snake Cavern, you can use a Mini Mushroom to get past it. Also, by finishing a level after 1-2 at a certain time, you can get a Mini Mushroom. Personally, I beat NSMBU Coinless by using a variety of tricks, such as, the Acorn Suit, Mini Mushroom, Multiplayer, and even Boost Mode. Good video, though!
I decided to look into this level myself, and turns out you don't even need the mini mushroom to avoid that coin. Do a well-timed spin as soon as you come out of the pipe as small Mario and you can avoid it that way, too.

Ceave's Slide Lift Tower Rant
"This stage is problematic for our very important scientific cause for two reasons. The first problem is at the end of the stage. The last coin layout in this castle, requires us to wear the acorn suit in to dodge it, but directly before, is this area. Here we are supposed to jump over a fire bros fire ball, but the area where we are supposed to evade the fireball is filled with shiny yet deadly coin, so this jump is way more challenging than usual, directly at the end of the level. That wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't for the other problem in this stage. *Sigh* So let's talk about ninja coins. Ninja coins are evil sneaky and scheming coins, that ambush us in situations we least expect it. They make us believe a path is safe only to immediately assault us, as soon as we aren't able to dodge them anymore. They shoot out of the ceiling, they jump out of the ground, they suddenly appear out of thin air, they are horrible bad depraved coins, and they are willing to do anything to end our run. But we can't let them win. The whole tower is inhabited with those objectively evil ninja coins. It's even possible to pick coins through the floor here. It's a nightmare. So what we need to do is to jump through the tower in a really strange way, that actually dodges all those assaulting coins, without losing the acorn suit until the end. That one took me forever, but I actually managed to leave this horrible tower coinless. Hooray!"
