When adjusting ignition points it's not ideal to judge opening by looks. You can make a simple light or a buzz box that will tell you when the points are actually open. If you don't want to do that, you can use a cigarette pack cellophane. You take a small piece of cellophane and place it between the point contacts (when they are fully closed). Pull on the cellophane very lightly as you slowly rotate the flywheel with your other hand. When the points release the cellophane is when they are open. You can also use a matchbook cover as a feeler gauge to set the point gap (it's approximate correct thickness). Also, make sure you adjust the point gap before you adjust the timing/firing position, as making the gap larger or smaller affects when the points open

I always like to give a little fun fact:
My dad was top salesman for a company in Southern California ..Placentia California to be exact and the company he worked for was called SportMag2 and they manufactured mag wheels mostly for mopeds. They also made wheels for motorcycles , sandrails, and BMX bikes. My mom's little sister was probably 14 or 15 at the time and she got hooked up with magwheels for her Puch and got to be on the cover of one of their catalogs. My dad ended up becoming a partner & one day in probably 1980 the dude Larry (the CEO) called his 20 year old son to the shop and my dad too and as the 3 of them were talking in Larry's office...Larry excused himself to go use the restroom in the machine shop and that's when my dad and Larry's son heard a gunshot. Larry took his own life in the restroom and he used a gun that he (Larry) manufactured himself. He was known to have been a gunsmith and sold some blueprints to Smith and Wesson ..
I think this took place on july 20th 1980 or 82.....
Ruined some families and the business since he was the main owner and CEO....his wife sold it off and my dad and the other partner pretty much got screwd. The worst thing is that he wanted his son there when he did it for unknown reasons. Dick

boys in Denmark love mopeds but the mopeds in the us is much more different cuz in Denmark they ride like pgo hot 50, Yamaha jog r, jog as/fs or puch maxi and I just think if the mopeds some boys make in Denmark would blow away Americans (almost every moped can go 170 km/t and its supposed to only go 30 km/t so if u cold make a really fast maybe jog as (the jog u already have) I would enjoy watching. thanks.😁😁

That's a nice Puch Maxi! I'm new to this channel but have you already had a yamaha aerox, gilera runner or Aprilia SR? They were and probably still are THE sh*t in my country. For mopeds my suggestions are Citta, Tomos and Vespa/piaggio ciao. My dad owned a Kreidler and a Zundapp in his youth, also very cool small engine bikes to check out 👍

A little late to the party but.
Sound like the clutch is kicking in too early. Might need some stiffer springs. It'll help a lot with acceleration, since the engine doesn't have any downlow power. You also might have to retard the timing to 14-16 deg before TDC, other with you'll overheat and seize the cylinder.
