- Over time, it’s often hard for bands to hang onto members. Some leave, some get kicked out, some even die. But, what about the groups that have constant and numerous lineup changes? In this video, I’ll go through 26 metal bands that have definitely gone through their share of musicians.

I’m sure I missed other bands who fit the bill. I would definitely encourage you to let me know which ones I forgot. Also, let me know if you think that too many member changes make you rethink liking a band. Tell me all that, and anything else that applies, in the comments below.
I saw the title of this video and instantly thought "Megadeth".
Iced Earth has big lineup changes over the years.
That was just crazy!! One band I thought of not metal but Molly Hatchet count is 24!
Every high school band...ever
Cradle of Filth. I'm not quite sure of the amount, but I read somewhere it was 41.
Megadeth and Black Sabbath are the top 2 that come to mind. Iron Maiden had about half a bazillion changes in their formative years as well.
What about Whitesnake? David Coverdale literally turned over the entire band at least twice in the 80's. Went to Wikipedia and there's at least 30 listed as members, and 24 or so lineup changes.
They were sort of Post Punk but The Fall had so many members come and go through the decades until Mark E Smith's death. Astronomical.
I find it hard to believe some of those numbers. Over 30 different members in some of my favorite bands? Just seems crazy. I'm thinking "There is no way Krokus had over 30 members" - then I look on Wikipedia, and say "Well craaaaaaaap" :)
Iron Maiden - most of those are before 1979. Since 1999 they have the most stable line-up ever with ALL members from 1983-1993 combined.
wow!! that is nuts. 😵💫
Cradle and dimmu come to mind straight away lol
Great topic mate. Enjoyed this one loads! 🤘
Cloven Hoof , Saxon , Manowar , Poison Idea , Descendents tons of bands. I like New Accept even if Wolf is only one. Saxon too as long as they stay true to music. Bands evolve it happens.
Wow!! Great video topic. I would expect Yngvie to be in there and Napalm Death. Surprised by Suicidal Tendencies and Krokus!
Marilyn Manson should be on the list. The lineup changes every album and they went from five members down to basically one
I could be wrong but since you are not including hired guns, would King Diamond, Ozzy and Yngwie count as they are technically solo acts and not bands. I would think the majority of the members of these acts were hired guns and not members of the "band" meaning corporation (Zack Wylde with Ozzy, Mickey Dee with King and everyone with Yngwie).
I think Ministry is over 60 at this point, lineup change every album
Sinister from Netherlands and Cradle of Filth🥵
Megadeth and Death come to mind.
Riot is Another Band That Had Numerous Lineup Changes
I’m a big fan of Yes, so kinda used to line-up changes by now 😅
Surprised Whitesnake and Deep Purple arent here
As long as it's not a core member that can impact the sound it personally doesn't bother me too much. Interesting video, thanks!
Spinal tap as of 1982 had 67
The numbers are incredible if you take into account the small number of albums some bands/artists made.
Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. The same lineup never last two albums back-to-back.
Not that shocking when you consider many of these bands have been playing for 40+ years.
I honestly thought Cradle of Filth would definitely have been on this list 🤯🤘
Rainbow, numerous lineup changes
Malevolent Creation has a lot
Any idea where I can find the music used on the countdown? Its really cool
figured ozzy would be top 3 he is my favorite rocker voice.
L.A. Guns guessing over 30 now.
Not a super popular band but London is known for having many ex members who made it big after leaving.
I don't see 21 for Anthrax
There's only been 4 guitarists since Danny... I think. And Only three singers, two drummers three bass players.
I count 13.
???
Overkill...
Absolutely as Dan Spitz was apart of that carousel.
And shouldn't kiss be on this list?
Dig the list. Crazy to see.
What is up with the suicidal tendencies. Used to be a huge fan of that band
I was surprised to not see Slipknot
I thought Cradle of Filth would’ve made the list. They must’ve had a lot less than I thought.
I was so happy to see Napalm Death and Gwar on the list. I can leave the vidja now.
I think Exodus should be included
19. Just under the cut.
Micheal Schenker group !
This is a megadave video isn't it?
Megadave
Flotsam and Jetson have had about 40 changes over the years since their in 1982 !!!!
Wait a minute, Anthrax hasn't had twenty line up changes have they?
HAWKWIND and the UK SUBS have a ridiculous amount of lineup changes!!
Rainbow ,about 17 members
Not really metal, but Agnostic Front top 30. Cro-mags must be pretty high too.
Any bands with the same members from the start?
Anthrax really ? I think I have to take a look at this
No Rainbow ? Or Deep purple ? Not even Whitesnake ? I’m surprised.
I thought machine head would be on this list.
My guess Tobias Forge had the most band members come and go. If not he’s right up there. Good topic Matt. You are right I’m surprised at a lot of these bands.
What,no Rainbow?
You didn't mention Kiss...
Death.
Of course it's Lars Lannerbäck. Who else could it be?
No MushroomHead?
Green Jello
Yngwie I thought was much worse
Wow… unbelievable huh. Talk about a hostile work environment 😂😂😂
Lynard skynard maybe?
Sepulatura and chelsea grin have no original members
Interesting but solo artists don't count! Blizzard of Oz was over when randy died, while sabbath doesn't seem that high. Three worst bands in the genre: megadeth, quiet riot after metal health and maiden. Dave mustaine is an overrated ex-metallica (known primarily because they fired him) druggie while im actually makes Judas priest sound listenable. Maybe try a similar video about classic rock bands if not already done.
Ritchie Blackmore rainbow changed group members before the albums even came out,
You missed L.A. Guns and the "136" member changes. Lol, I think they are at 53 seriously.
