Replacing the ignition coils and plug leads on the Lotus Elan M100

The Lotus Elan M100 uses a fairly sophisticated engine management system with a distributerless ignition system. Misfiring on the cars is pretty common and can be caused by all sorts of things but if the culprit is the coils or plug leads here you go. Running on two cylinders is almost diagnostic of a failed coil.

Hello,Thank you for your informative series. I'm sure it's helped many and is much appreciated.
I'm writing you from the USA(Utah)and I'm hoping you can tell me the best places to purchase parts for a 1991 Elan SE(Pacific Blue btw). I'm currently in need of a windshield, and would like to acquire two window motors and a right side (passenger side in the USA) window regulator. Could you offer your best opinions are where to obtain these?Thank you!

Hi Sam, realise this was a year ago but just in case its of any help. www.lotuselancentral.com is the best place for info. britcarnut is US based and maintains a parts list and has many parts himself. Rockauto are a US based supplier for a number of parts. Not the ones you listed but help is on LEC.

I had good experience with SJ Sportscars in the UK. They had much better prices, better availability, and were delivering in 2 business days to the Texas from the UK for a reasonable shipping price (DHL).
