I almost bought one in about 1994. It was the Swift GTi. Great little car, drove like an Austin mini without the reliability issues. Don't know why I didn't buy it as it would have been a great choice for me at that stage. Dependable, fun, economical to run. I considered a Swift again in 2017 but ended up with a Vitara - I wanted the extra space and the 1.2 4-cylinder engine fitted to the Allgrip swifts wasn't very nice. It's done well over 100,000 miles and is beginning to get a little elderly for my liking, so looking forward to upgrading to a new one sometime soon!
5 speed set up well is ideal for a smaller car. Hopefully they'll do well with these, and bring the 4x4 version out soon. Our R56 S is in 5th gear at 32mph/6th at 42mph. Two, Swift is not swift. No Sport model, no warm model since 2020. So the one I recommend is the mk4 110hp 1.0 3 cylinder. I have this engine in the 2017 Baleno.
I don't think it's "all-new", I think it's the mid-cycle refresh using the same basic bodyshell as the old model. Just with new door skins (they also moved the rear handle down from the window to the body) as well as new front and rear treatments, in typical Japanese facelift style -- the tactic Japanese brands developed to give the impression of new product every 5 years, even though it's really still a 10 year product cycle. 🙂 I think a close inspection of the A-pillar and roofline between old and "all new" models confirms this, if I'm not mistaken. There is certainly a fleet of new (less powerful?) lower emissions engines. Folks in Australia are sad about the loss of the high emitting Swift Sport variant, as well as complaining about the other engines now making less power in preparation for Euro 7 compliance.
Love the newer Suzuki's. My wife has a newer Baleno. Slightly bigger and more mature styling. Great to drive and reliable. Just a lil oversprung and the powersteering is 'enthousiastic' but it's what you expect from a car like that.
I call them the "Not-so-Swift" as generally when I come across a Swift, it's being driver 20 miles under the limit with extreme restraint on the accelerator when moving off.
I like this a lot. One of the few modern superminis that has genuine appeal. What a shame it will be when cars like this finally disappear. Seems like I belong in the 1990s rather than the 2020s.
From your review I thought 'hey great, they are still making cars with proper engines, gearbox and dials, not too much electronic nonsense, and reasonably light and compact - maybe there are cars still out there I could be tempted to buy'! Then I looked at a face-on picture of the car on the Suzuki website. QUACK, the resemblance to a baby duck is overpowering. Just what were they thinking? And did you deliberately edit the video so there were no front-on views?
Drove one yesterday - really great to drive. The only thing I can’t quite warm to is that bonnet line. It makes the front look structurally weak - like the front end would drop off in a crash. It’s a very odd styling choice I have to say. In some colours, the panel gap screams at you. The other elephant in the room is the price. £19-21-5k … for the same money you can have a Polo, Fabia, Corsa etc. or the entire range of Citycars and a load of Dacia models. You’d have to really want the Swift to pay that price. On the unique plus side - you can have it with AWD which in parts of the UK is certainly an advantage.
I really hope they've fixed that generator/alternator system as they love to destroy crankshafts by ripping the crank pulleys off Really bad problem on the whole Suzuki range but mostly the ignis
Im not suggesting driving over the limit but are you driving watching the speedo constantly in case you do 61 instead of 60, or watching the road so you dont crash?
Cheeky little motor! What I don’t get about modern cars is how much can it really cost to make the rear door panels as nice as the front? It’s not just low end cars either even midrange cars are doing this same thing. Infuriating!
Way better than a Corsa . With you on the nannying tech , part of a Machiavellian plan to stop car ownership 🤔 I would never buy a new car , even if I won the lottery .
no spare wheel! what a joke not even a puncture repair kit which if you get a puncture in the sidewall is useless anyway! Built down to a cost. Once you get stuck with a flat you will be really unhappy whilst waiting for a recovery truck.

The styling is very colour dependent. In some hues, it looks very ungainly. It is, however, different! My daughter had the previous model. Much nicer.
Aye,that's like you the auld yin....
Red, yellow and blue are the best colors on these.
Love the newer Suzuki's. My wife has a newer Baleno. Slightly bigger and more mature styling. Great to drive and reliable. Just a lil oversprung and the powersteering is 'enthousiastic' but it's what you expect from a car like that.
Will they do a Sport?
They’ve not said they will yet
Good vibes 👍👍
I hope it has a petrol engine.
What do you think it runs on?paraffin?
It will have think most hybrids are petrol
Same with auto stop/start. Need big button in the middle to switch off, lots of cars now are starting to hide it away in the touch screen menus. :(
hey hey, what about your volvo 740? Waiting for new repairs...
its an old volvo, its not going to break!
@@furiousdriving can confirm it doesn't break. But maintenance has to be done (e.g. in new videos! :P)
I call them the "Not-so-Swift" as generally when I come across a Swift, it's being driver 20 miles under the limit with extreme restraint on the accelerator when moving off.
minor moan on many hatchbacks ....rear seats not folding fully flat.....the old suzi wagon r vauxhall agila 1 turned into mini van and i miss that.
I like the suzuki swift
Insurance group 28.
Yipee I'm in the TOP 10
Has a passing resemblance to the Honda CR-Z.
Please praise
Every time I get in a newer Swift I'm pleasantly surprised by the space and comfort. Good job Suzuki. Good job Matt.

I really hope they've fixed that generator/alternator system as they love to destroy crankshafts by ripping the crank pulleys off
Really bad problem on the whole Suzuki range but mostly the ignis
Why do you want to drive over the speed limit?
Im not suggesting driving over the limit but are you driving watching the speedo constantly in case you do 61 instead of 60, or watching the road so you dont crash?
@@furiousdriving That's what the beep is for, so you don't have to watch your speedo ;)
You drive on the wrong way!!
Allha akbal ☝️ je suis très intéressé je voudrez bien savoir la boîte cvt la consommation 😊
That is hideous.
Suzuki Swifts equal excellent. ADATS equals dumb.
no spare wheel! what a joke not even a puncture repair kit which if you get a puncture in the sidewall is useless anyway! Built down to a cost. Once you get stuck with a flat you will be really unhappy whilst waiting for a recovery truck.
That's one ugly-looking car, that will appeal to old grannies and people who love nondescript designs
The build quality is awful the previous swift are known for needing new gearbox’s after 30,000 miles the carpets are so thin that they don’t last for that time either they rattle inside so much awful awful car brand and awful car
Sounds like you don't know what you're on about. I've got a 2008 Swift with over 100,000 miles on it, no issues at all and certainly nothing with the gearbox. Two other Swifts in the family, also no issues. But you stick to being overdramatic, suits you
It looks tragic, a bloated supermini
It weighs under a ton. Jog on
It's not Kei car sized, but it's FAR from large or bloated. It's quite a bit smaller than a Fiesta or Clio. Are imports like the Suzuki Alto Lapin Kei car available for people who want a true supermini? 🙂 The Alto Lapin (like most Kei cars) is adorable!
