I was Class of '77 and Into all sorts of music, especially Rock-n-Roll... So why have I not heard of these lady pioneers of rock until just recently..?! I feel cheated...
Thanx muchly, Lovely Ladies! We used to love to roller skate/ dance to your music at the Starlite Rink on Saturday nights, back in the 70s. Especially to Charity Ball. I miss those days. Thanx so very much for sharing your gift with the world, and for the magic, music, and memories.
It was only for a brief time in November, 1971 that they were in the spotlight but I remember this so well. They deserved a lot more promotion than they got. Thank you Sonny and Cher for having them on the show. The Millington sisters are still rocking and look very well for ladies now in their 70s and still wearing the long hair.
I remember this song well. I would hear it on the radio for a short time and then "poof"...where did they go? It is a real shame they did not get the proper exposure and backing from their record company. They had the talent for certain!
You guys frickin' Rock! I prob saw this performance as a kid... my parents loved sonny & cher. Happy to see this now. What a surprise they made you put their faces on the base drum! (unfortunately, it's not)
They really got shorted by live TV. Even the OGWT dubbed over their instruments with the album version of some of the songs they performed live on the show. They were so talented, it's a shame we only really got to see how good they really were on the beat club footage which has unfortunately been deleted for the most part. I hate when live TV does lip synced performances.
Here's a 2 song performance for a French TV, the quality of the recording slips bit & it's black n white, you won't care! lol The transition into "Young & Dumb" is fabulous, they were very good!!! ua-cam.com/video/QNUM-z0xmso/v-deo.html
There is no doubt The Beatles are the biggest influence on Fanny. Some tracks on their album "Fanny Hill", which was produced by Randy Newman, was recorded in the #2 studio at Abbey Road.
Dont complain about the lip sinc. In those days the TV stations were proud of cheating on their audience. There were other bands who really sounded bad live playing, and producers did not want to take a risk. We all know how great those girls played live in Beat Club, with outstanding sound engineers.
@@thirdbase6870 It's so they can at least hear their own instruments (even though you can't) to help them look like they're plausibly really playing. Alice and Nickey wouldn't have had that problem.
Probably the best rock band you've never heard of.
and Birtha

I suggest all view their Beat Club performance on here. Pure G-O-L-D
Seen it!
I have been 100 percent addicted to those Beat Club performances!
Great musicians, all of them. Atompower!
I just found this group a couple of days ago and am so amazed by them..! Rock on Fanny..!!
I love this group. I'd like to know why how come the drum face has Sonny and Cher instead of the band name. That would've been great promotion

I feel the same way. There were other higher charting songs at the time that I didn't care for at all but this one was left at #40.
I've got a crush on Alice. She's so good on the drums and the cherry on top is that she's beautiful 😍
I have a thing for June. Always have. I think if I was born in an earlier time,we'd be married. She just so cool.
True rockers of my time🎉😅

And this was years before The Runaways :)

nice little rock song
The show didn't wanna give em mics to even try to sell that they actually singing. Shame because they were a great band.
Its like the female version of the Beatles. Amazing!

"Fanny Hill", which was produced by Randy Newman.
Historical revisionism.
Love keyboardist Nickey
Obviously lip synced as was the norm for this type of appearance. But they were absolutely electrifying live. Cool to see the bumper intro and outros.

They were one of the rare bands that actually sounded better live.
JEAN is such a great player and her moves WOAH
I maintain June was hotter and will so forever.
She was on fire in this show :)
Really selling the song like she's belting it out. Maybe nice to do lip sync sometimes just to give your voice a rest?
wow..just wow
👏👏👏🕶🕶🎸🎸
Getting confused. June and Jean are plugged in but they are not singing into mics. Alice could you clear this up. What's going on here?
Lip synching. Fairly common even back then.
@@frankfrank7921
But why are the instruments plugged in? That's why am asking Alice.

TV...
Sonny 'n Cher would make their musical geusts rock their "logo" on the bass drum? How freakin' cheeseball!
:)
Four girls one bra!
Saw them at the Whisky. Kicked ass. What a show.
Alice knows how to play a shuffle.
