    Thank you so much for giving that great advice about taking care of what one can and not worrying about those things that are out of one's control.

    Hey there Omar, looks like you've set up a great channel here and I'm confident that it will grow in size thanks to the quality of your videos. I was pleasantly surprised to see that you're from Kashmir. I'm from Kashmir as well (based in Hyderpora, Srinagar) so it's great to see a fellow Kashmiri go on to achieve what you're doing :) I'm applying for the 2022 match this September and will definitely be referring to your videos for advice and guidance, keep up the great work!

    Can you post a video on the mentality required to approach USMLE as an Non-US IMG, I don't see anyone doing that but I feel it's the essence of being successful. (Motivation)

    Hi, dr. omar.. Congratulations on getting matched.
    We really appreciate your efforts for guiding imgs.
    Can you please tell how did your CV look like? How many publications do you have? how did u do research and what were your scores.. we want to know everything😁.. please don't be like other youtubers who charge money for guidance because as u know that USMLE process is already very costly for IMGs and we can't afford for additional costs.. i hope you understand.. please tell us about your CV and Eras applicantion. Also advice for 2nd year MBBS/med school student on how should he start his preparation??

    Hey Omar. At first, congratulations!
    Wanted to know if it is a bad idea to apply without the ecfmg certificate? The application deadline this year is 29 sep and I'll have my step scores and oet results back by that time but will have my certification only by October 15. I've read mixed reviews about applying without a certificate and I'm so confused.
    Will appreciate you sharing your views!

    • @drbaqal
      @drbaqal  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Zainab! That is one of the issues that came to my mind, although after I was done making the video 😂
      I'm glad you asked this question. It is definitely most ideal to be ECFMG certified before application deadline. Beyond that, as I've observed, the later one gets certified into the Match season, the bigger the impact on interview invitations.
      Mid October doesn't seem too bad of a delay in getting certified so I'm hoping you'll be fine. As soon as you do get certified, you should ideally contact programs and update them saying you are now certified so they can consider extending an interview invitation to you. Good luck Zainab!

    • @drbaqal
      @drbaqal  3 роки тому

      Short answer - If you're an IMG, it doesn't matter too much and USMLE scores are far more important than your GPA

    Could you tell me.more about work life balance in mayo clinic?

    • @drbaqal
      @drbaqal  Рік тому

      Thanks for the question. It definitely depends as Mayo has multiple campuses and many different specialties and training programs. I can speak for IM residency at Mayo Arizona and I can say that the work life balance is great and our 4+4 schedule system (4 weeks inpatient and 4 weeks outpatient) works nicely.

    is it possible for step1 retakers to match in competitive fields such as surgery?

    • @drbaqal
      @drbaqal  2 роки тому

      I would not say it's impossible. It would obviously raise questions and one might get asked in the interview about the attempt. Additionally the retaker will need to compensate for it by demonstrating a strong performance in the Step 2 and possibly step 3 as well as highlighting other strengths in their application

    You rode on the people of Saudi to get free medical education in Saudi. Is your conscience clean to not give back to the people of Saudi Arabia? Greed and lack of appreciation will come to haunt you.

    • @drbaqal
      @drbaqal  3 роки тому +8

      Congratulations on posting the first toxic comment on my channel 🤩 It took a while, but I'm glad you broke the deadlock :)
      You reflect 0 understanding of the Saudi medical education and training system and yet you show up here as the savior of the people of Saudi.
      1. I paid a lot for my medical education. It was not free.
      2. Residency spots are very limited in Saudi and Saudis are prioritized. Thus all non-Saudi medical grads have to seek further training elsewhere.
      It's always better to educate yourself before spewing misinformation. You could write dialogues for movies tho coz they're pretty solid.
      Thanks for coming.
