@@domtrom6012 Pretty good, I wish I could connect it to my Charge 5 speakers though. In my opinion two Charge 5 > one Xtreme 2. One Xtreme 2 = one Charge 5 mostly. I've had some connection issues with my Xtreme 2 but that can be fixed by re-adding the device connection to the phone. I tried using it with a TV and the latency is unbearable in my opinion, it seems like the speaker goes to sleep after a short break of sound, even if it's connected via AUX cord to the TV. Still a good speaker though, but it's a bit too heavy to bring with me to work on every day, that's why I bought the Charge 5.

The Charge puts up an impressive show here i think, outright leaving the X1 beat and being nearly on par with the X2. Only the 3 really seems to have a more balanced sound and fuller bass. And honestly, it better be considering what the new stuff costs...

@@silvinho87 The XTREME series speakers all have separate Woofers and Tweeters. So yes, the XTREME, XTREME2, and XTREME3 all have tweeters. The tweeters on the XTREME were 35mm in a horn style waveguide, focusing most of the energy in front of the speaker, and the ones on the XTREME2 and XTREME3 are 20mm with a shallower waveguide, leading to wider dispersion.
Interested to know what you think about the charge 5 now? I listen to metal and find that the non stereo setup limits the music. The charge 3 or xtreme 2 are better suited to metal. Xtreme 1 just sounds to boomy
When the xtreme one came out I flipped out and thought that was the coolest shit I’ve ever seen. Now I’ve pretty much got all the big jbl party speakers and honestly they are all still pretty damn cool.

@@alanrossreviews only one way, up. Lol! Maybe some B&O stuff, maybe some Marshalls, costly though. Cheaper options will be the Fenders, which is quite a hit here. Also the new Sony SRS RA3000 and the top of the line RA5000. Maybe even do some Edifiers, although not portable but they sound absolutely amazing for their prices and considered by some one of the best in the entry level audiophile world. Im currently hooked on Edifiers, hard to go back to portables once I heard it. The Motion Pro sounds great... love anything with the Pro branding, that just means its the top of range, signature, reference and king dick of the brand. Just like Edifiers. 😁

I contacted to JBL. They said that the Xtreme 3 doesn’t support AAC codec. Textually they said:”Our JBL Xtreme 3 doesn't have AAC it is an A2DP, SBC is mandatory among all A2DP-enabled devices.” 🤷♂️ I don’t deny the quality of those speakers, but because the price it’s fair that they should include a decent codec.
Max volume should not be a major selection point for speakers...This is my POV. So many people will love C5 cause it has nicely tuned sound. Yes, narrow. Yes, little bit of compression in max volume...But again, C5 is nice except the price :(
Wow, the Extreme 3 is a huge improvement over the Extreme 2. It's got a lot more clarity at 85%. I actually prefer the Charge 5 over the Extreme 2, which is what I was planning to purchase until just now. Thanks for this! Now I'm stuck between dual charge 5's or 1 extreme 3...
Dual charge 5 was the way to go u got stereo mode and it will be louder its only 2 dB quiter than extreme 3 which isn't really a difference but stereo mode I imagine is louder

For me the X3 is the best here, seeing the eq curve is more consistent with the original curve, and in particular the C5 has a boost in 300-2khz that I find unpleasant

Such a great review! Thank you. I have 2 Charge 3s for many many years and have always loved them. Especially paired. I've dropped them, split many beers on them and they still work. One has lost some sound quality so I purchased the Extreme 2 (before doing enough research... ) I'm not happy with the low / mid sound performance or clarity. Thinking I might try a Charge 5? Or 2 of them. Rarely crank these to max. Thoughts?
i still have my charge 3s. total classic. it does take some time adjusting to other speakers as the charge 3 had its own particular eq which jbl moved away from. personally i find the charge 5 like a charge 3 with more bass so an easier move if indeed its deeper bass you want. but charge 5 is mono and you will lose that airyness. the motion plus might be another option from the charge 3.

Another great review it seems like I'm gonna love the charge 5 I really use the charge series as a shower speaker or to link up to my xtreme 2 and charge 3 the Xtreme 2 to me sounds kinda boring unless I turn it up around 80% but low level listening sucks to me well compared to the other speaker I got and I told my mom you said hi😅

The Xtreme 2 has a nice warm sound with good bass for the size and a great battery life; it’s still really nice in 2023. Yeah there is the motion boom that does almost everything slightly better but xtreme2 is not bad if you find a great deal. The usual problem with most of these JBL’s is not that they are bad speakers but their prices are bad. Mine means a lot to me so I just had the grill and the side panels replaced by the local jbl repair center to make it cosmetically brand new again, before the supply of spare parts ends. And this cost only around 15€ or so!
I have 2 jbl flip 6 and listen to them in stereo mode, but now I need more bass and have decided to buy a new speaker and use it in partyboost beside my 2 flip 6 for outdoor use. What do you suggest ? Buying charge 5 or xtreme 3 ? Since I heard that xtreme 3 is only 50W rms instead of 100W when it has not plugged, I was a little disappointed about it! only x3 is listenable for me as i listen mostly indoors and prefer some balance. but id rather listen to the motion boom which digs deeper than the x3.

not lossless as a compression format i mean no re-encoding is required for tracks already encoded into aac. normally taking say mp3 and converting it is in itself lossy.

I need help, so I’ve purchased a xtreme 2 and I got it on sale for $260 and I’m wondering if it would be good for me to return it and get a charge 5. Size and weight isint a problem for me. I do really like bass though and I can’t really decide on which speaker to choose.
@@Mephisto077 For that price i think the teufel rockster is a better contender, plays louder, but as quite a balance with bass plays similiar to xtreme 2 up to 3/4 then it compresses a bit but it's still way better than both dockin and jbl specially xtreme 3 that with deeper bass its great for rock, more like edm and other things w/ more content below 60hz. I'm Italian . I have two question Extreme 3 ): 1) Is it normal for the speaker to play louder when the power cable is connected? I got it on purpose because it was battery operated but in this case the performance is different whether powered or not. 2) If I connect it to the mixer with the cable, is it possible that the first time, or after a period of silence, there is a delay of about one second in the start of the audio? The two most important aspects for me are the sound quality and the Bluetooth range distance (with my phone). Both of these must be an improvement from my JBL charge 3. Does someone know the range difference of these 3 speakers? Can someone help me out? And please, I don't look at the price difference! (the difference is like €20/€30 more for the xtreme 3, so that's no problem for me). And because the xtreme is bigger and harder to take, it does need to be worth to be way better than the charge. 😁

hum, another tough question. xtreme 3 and charge 3 have a very different sound so not sure whether maybe better off with xtreme 2 which is closer to charge 3 and then pair it with charge 3. i might be tempted to just get the x2 and pair it with the charge 3. the x3 will give you deeper bass but if you liked the charge 3 then you wont really be missing it.

Now with the EQ update Xtreme 3 sounds better to me, but mids are still too weak to my tastes even with EQ. Bass and highs are superior though

Charge 5 actually does well against the Xtreme 2. In my opinion it's not worth the extra 70 dollars to get the Xtreme 2 over the charge 5.

I have 2 Charge 3s for many many years and have always loved them. Especially paired. I've dropped them, split many beers on them and they still work. One has lost some sound quality so I purchased the Extreme 2 (before doing enough research... ) I'm not happy with the low / mid sound performance or clarity.
Thinking I might try a Charge 5? Or 2 of them. Rarely crank these to max. Thoughts?
i still have my charge 3s. total classic. it does take some time adjusting to other speakers as the charge 3 had its own particular eq which jbl moved away from. personally i find the charge 5 like a charge 3 with more bass so an easier move if indeed its deeper bass you want. but charge 5 is mono and you will lose that airyness. the motion plus might be another option from the charge 3.

I never liked the xtreme 1, i had it for 2 years bit but it was so harsh and had no deep bass at all. Can you compare the xtreme 1 to the wking d8? There is no single useful video of that! Thanks for this one alan😄😝

Another great review it seems like I'm gonna love the charge 5 I really use the charge series as a shower speaker or to link up to my xtreme 2 and charge 3 the Xtreme 2 to me sounds kinda boring unless I turn it up around 80% but low level listening sucks to me well compared to the other speaker I got and I told my mom you said hi😅
the charge 5 really sounds like the charge 3 with extended bass. if you like the charge 3 you are sure to like the charge 5 imho. Hi mom 😁 i know you are not sure whether to get the charge 5 or xtreme 3 for review, thats a tough one 🤣 but personally i prefer the motion boom over both.

The Xtreme 2 has a nice warm sound with good bass for the size and a great battery life; it’s still really nice in 2023. Yeah there is the motion boom that does almost everything slightly better but xtreme2 is not bad if you find a great deal. The usual problem with most of these JBL’s is not that they are bad speakers but their prices are bad.
Mine means a lot to me so I just had the grill and the side panels replaced by the local jbl repair center to make it cosmetically brand new again, before the supply of spare parts ends. And this cost only around 15€ or so!
I have 2 jbl flip 6 and listen to them in stereo mode, but now I need more bass and have decided to buy a new speaker and use it in partyboost beside my 2 flip 6 for outdoor use. What do you suggest ? Buying charge 5 or xtreme 3 ? Since I heard that xtreme 3 is only 50W rms instead of 100W when it has not plugged, I was a little disappointed about it!
Another question, Is the loudness and bass of jbl xtereme 3 alone more than two jbl flip 6 in partyboost for outdoor use?

The Charge 5's cleaner sound was surprising. Charge 5 would be my pick. I can't stand the screechy/messier signature of the Xtreme 2/3.
only x3 is listenable for me as i listen mostly indoors and prefer some balance. but id rather listen to the motion boom which digs deeper than the x3.

You said aac is lossless on apple. AAC is not lossless on apple, I'm pretty sure.
not lossless as a compression format i mean no re-encoding is required for tracks already encoded into aac. normally taking say mp3 and converting it is in itself lossy.
What exactly do you mean by "most dynamic"?
the difference between the quietest and loudest parts of the track, the bigger the difference the more dynamic the speaker.

@@Mephisto077 For that price i think the teufel rockster is a better contender, plays louder, but as quite a balance with bass plays similiar to xtreme 2 up to 3/4 then it compresses a bit but it's still way better than both dockin and jbl specially xtreme 3 that with deeper bass its great for rock, more like edm and other things w/ more content below 60hz.

1) Is it normal for the speaker to play louder when the power cable is connected? I got it on purpose because it was battery operated but in this case the performance is different whether powered or not.
2) If I connect it to the mixer with the cable, is it possible that the first time, or after a period of silence, there is a delay of about one second in the start of the audio? (it's like it goes tand by)

The two most important aspects for me are the sound quality and the Bluetooth range distance (with my phone). Both of these must be an improvement from my JBL charge 3. Does someone know the range difference of these 3 speakers?

hum, another tough question. xtreme 3 and charge 3 have a very different sound so not sure whether maybe better off with xtreme 2 which is closer to charge 3 and then pair it with charge 3. i might be tempted to just get the x2 and pair it with the charge 3. the x3 will give you deeper bass but if you liked the charge 3 then you wont really be missing it.

Owned a Xtreme 1, charge 5 and Xtreme 2. The Xtreme 1 beats the charge 5 for bass but not balanced sound. The Xtreme 2 was useless and get returned.

@@wolsenar In the classroom if we placed an Xtreme or Boombox in the corner and a Flip on the table and paired them up via connect it kinda worked like a subwoofer/tweeter combination and it sounded fairly good
