Thats a terrible idea because in reality every shot that is made doesn't have a perfect release, and basketball is a probability game... I would like my basketball without the Dark Souls level of difficulty just to shoot the ball... Also another problem is 2k has been the only b-ball game in town, for way too long now you guys have Stockholm Syndrome and will gladly accept whatever they put out because you just have to play as your favorite team right?
if you play 2k once a week you should not be as good at shooting as the person who plays 8 hours a day, shooting is good

i wouldn’t have a problem with shooting if it wasn’t so damn inconsistent, there’s shots that’s not even full bars or in the green window that they count as greens and full bars that are somehow slightly late or slightly early. and on top of the fact that you jumpshot speed constantly changes depending on where you at on the court
It’s not inconsistent there a timing for every type of shot dribbling into a shot… catch and shoot…. Dribble pull up … just gotta take time to learn it and get some skill

The shooting is fine if you are playing park or mycareer because you only have one jumpshot to worry about but it is actually aids on my league. Jumping between a ton of different jumpshots just feels impossible this year with such little margin for error.
Facts. It's ridiculous cus I had someone tell me I should "just practice with those players"... There's well over 150+ players who can shoot pretty well in the league and I shouldn't need to practice to be able to hit wide open shots even if I've never used them before. Myplayers shooting is perfect but team gamemodes should definitely be more forgiving

This is exactly what I've been thinking about. I only play myleague, and trying to adapt to this new shooting system has been so difficult. I have to memorize the jumpshot for at least 10 players on my team for really have any success. I love this new shooting system for online players because it does make it more competitive, but for purely offline play, I don't think it makes that much sense. From every angle, from fair gameplay, to realism, not every shot has to be perfect to go in. Sometimes you just get lucky in real life, and I think that should reflect in myleague. Not all whites should go in, of course. But, if you're open and get slightly late or slightly early, I still think they should go in sometimes.
I'm trying everything to get good at this new shooting system, but it has been so brutal. I've tried turning off the shot meter and just focusing on the animations and trying to release the ball at the top of the shot. I've messed with shot timing settings. Thought I was always shooting early, so I changed it to reflect that. Then, it becomes late shot timing, you try changing it to late shot timing, it's early now. It also doesn't seem like changing shot timing impact in the sliders does much either. It felt like last 2k you could balance out how many whites would go in through the sliders, but it doesn't seem to be the case this 2k. Unless you raise the success rates of shots all the way up maybe. The AI seems to have no issue greening everything though no matter how covered they are, so that's nice to see lol.

It honestly feels like attributes have no impact on whether a shot goes in. My 97 three point rating drafted player ... I can't hit a three to save my life. Random guy with 65 3pt shot ... I green everything so he never misses. What is the point in having attributes at all if only animations mean anything?
A build takes 500k to max out thats a big problem a top 3 problem
If they could just find a way to change it in myCareer I don’t play online/park often so I wouldn’t want them messing with everyone else who enjoys the shooting, but I’m just trying to chill in myCareer and I’m not trying to sweat after a long day at work 😂

I’ve noticed a huge problem on the twos, when ever people take shots under the basket, if you contested them and force them to miss , I’d say about 60% of the time they catch there own rebound, I get that sometimes that’s gonna happen but I feel it happens way to often and doesn’t reward good defence, instead rewards bad offence

If you go for the block it's harder to get the rebound unless you got high rebound or high vertical...don't always go for the block

my only issue is the inconsistent animations. I could care less if they change the percentage whites go in, my off dribble shot animation shouldn't be drastically different than catch and shoot or if I'm stationary. I feel like I have to guess which animation they're going to give me before I shoot and that's so frustrating to me. Keep the greens and whites how they are, just fix the animations

the real solution is to make it like 2k16. if theres an issue, look at what was done in 16. 16 was not a perfect game, but most of the stuff was done right , it rly shouldnt be this complicated. if it aint broke dont fix it (in terms of gameplay) , thats 2ks BIGGEST issue. or, just make the park casual sliders and competitive sliders for competitive modes like pro am and ante up. i promise its that simple.

@@nbaviis It was very easy to shoot because so many whites went in. The green light window was also much bigger last year too. I kinda like having more a skill gap since it makes people choose their builds more precisely. My boy used to green consistently with a 43 3 ball all around the perimeter.

Either fix the shooting or fix the VC/badge/overall system. I'm fine with a high learning curve for shooting if getting badges and VC wasn't an utter grind. Likewise, i'd be fine with the upgrading system if shooting threes was not impossible on lower overalls.
@@Jairusd88 they reason is bc you only have to buy animations once now it carries over from player to player, once you unlock it one build you have the animation on the other assuming you meet the qualifications to have it

I went from 2k21 straight to 23. The shooting is night and day, I could green a logo 3 9/10 times in 21 but in my first season on 2k23 my FG % is under 30. I’m both sides of the coin, I like that it’s challenging, I just hate missing a wide open 3 when we down 2 because the timing changed since my last attempt. Maybe I will get used to it but it’s frustrating for sure.
I like shooting but I low-key feel bad for the new players or those who simply don’t have the free time to spend hours practicing shooting
2K will obviously boost shooting to not alienate players from the game. They’re inflating the VC, and the best thing after that is to keep and bring more people into the game to spend more VC. They’re not thinking about competitive players. It’s like that in any game. They’re gonna buff the shooting to please the stakeholders when more and more people are willing to spend money on the game. Nobody wants to spend all that money and still not see their shot go in. Everyone is at the mercy of the casual gamer in most aspects of gaming.
I’m sorry but I shouldn’t have to try this hard to hit a fucklng shot. These are PROFESSIONAL basketball players, why should they miss wide open shots ? My player got drafted to the Warriors and he can’t hit a 3 ? Yea right.
2k should just make Comp servers and a Casual servers. But make the casual servers have slightly slower level progression, so the comp players have no incentive to play and ruin the casual servers.
I actually like the shooting. It's harder to hit but the shooting has been overpowered for so many years that I don't even mind it. Plus IRL, your jump shot timing and strength will change depending on who's guarding you and how tired you are. The only issue is the lag you get online with the timing changed. I haven't tried online yet, but I bet it's horrendous.

I hope the shooting stays exactly as is for the whole year, it feels rewarding af when you green, for me at least. I’ve played roughly, thirty 12 minute quarter nba games on hall of fame difficulty and 200-250 games of 2s so I’d like to think I have a decent understanding of it, but I genuinely believe that if you want to actually be able to shoot all kinds of shots then you have to turn the shot meter off
The problem is about online gameplay not career.
Paint defense is so dumb this year I have a 93 interior and gold anchor and I get plenty of stops but it sucks because while I’m in an animation because I got a stop the other player isn’t affected and just grabs the ball and goes back up. Why am I in crazy animations for playing good defense? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?
I think it should stay the same I put to much time, effort and money into greening.

The problem is that the game is designed for people to use multiple builds in order to try different positions and play styles, but the cost to create and upgrade those builds is prohibitive. I’ve spent 347k VC to upgrade my build to 91. I would’ve been excited to get rebirth, but it’s so expensive that it only made me angry. I won’t spend another penny on this game on principle alone. F*%# 2K!!!

Can we talk about how the defense don’t make sense? I’ve seen soooo many builds with crazy stats but literally 0 defense. I played a guy and he literally only have a 30 perimeter d and everything else was like 0, and he played nice consistent defense. Some can say skill issue but I feel like I should have just bullied him on offense.

All this skill gap and different release points would be fine if latency and delay was consistent. Connection in online based game modes affect jumpshot timing for that green windows. This is an aspect of the game 2k still hasn't gotten right which in turn makes them consistently change shooting from year to year.

Bought the game for no reason, got me off the initial purchase bluff. Way to cater to the stupid 2k. I barely play this game and I have gotten to the point I can green almost every shot because I learned to not rely on muscle memory and look for a release vue on the game mode I chose to play the most. Ffs i work 60_+ hour work weeks and I could learn this. STOP CATERING TO KIDS!

I think they will tweak it. I use to play 2k competitively every year and win 80 percent of my games. last couple years I now have 3 kids and a family and barely have time to grind the game I love. I'm still good at the game and haven't lost my touch completely but I for sure have fallen off a bit from what I use to be. I can barely play 2 hrs a day even any. I like the shooting but 2k changed so many things this year it can be a lot for a casual gamer to adapt too. from shooting, stamina, new complex builder, core badge grind, expensive vc prices, gameplay. its a lot to take in. 2k should meet somewhere in the middle. good players will be good no matter what anyway. I understand both sides now that I have transitioned from sweat no life to family man.
The argument about the casual players makes no sense. If you look at any other game they don't make the game easier just so ppl can be good at it. Imagine if call of duty did that. So you can say make shooting easier just for weaker players when no other game does that. You just need to get better and this is coming from someone who works a fulltime job. Every FPS game has modes dedicated to casual gamers along with Fifa having Volta, Madden having the yard. Casual gamers are literally the reason why most games are free to play now and 2k is in the dark ages charging 70-$150 for a minor upgrade.
7 all the way myteam offline cause I'm mainly looking to collect favorite players and just have some dumb fun. Biggest addition imo is triple threat co op. Haven't had that much fun with a 2k just messing around with 1 other friend and a cpu in I can't remember how many years now.

I think the only thing they need to fix is animations. Like I hate when it gives me a green animation and I miss and it wouldn’t even let you get out the animation to make a play until it’s done with. That’s frustrating especially if playing 2s

It's crazy how easy it is to hook shot in this game compared to 2k22 . My first shooting build has a 98 3 point 31 badges. I haven't even shot yet. But I'm assuming if it ain't 98 or 99 3 point it's inconsistent.

People need to stop making they excuse that they work a 9-5 I work 10-11 hr days and do not need the game to be easier in order to be competitive. These are excuses if you truly want to be great you will take the time to learn to be great. Keep the game as is.
Shooting I think is fine but I think they should have separate modes to where people could have easier shooting if they want it. I been saying they should make park the casual spot and for sweats let stage be that place for it

It's an online based game with offline features. With that said, if one chooses to play online, one must adapt. 2k could also make a "Casual Lobby" and a "Comp Lobby". Shooting should keep it's current skill gap but have a feature for the casual. 2k is a a very rich company. They can afford multiple play type lobbies.

I'm just waiting for them to add more dribble sigs man shooting is fine for me. It's a little weird when I go into multiplayer but I figured out how to start a pro am team so I can practice my shot there whenever I'm not feeling confident or I need to warm up before a red game or something cause sometimes if I so much as miss one jump shot I won't see the ball for like 2 quarters........MIND YOU I AM A 6'4 POINT GAURD, I still have trouble with my shot and Im a 95 overall with a 85 3 point rating. I think since I put my mid at a 79 it helped me get access to have better flexibility with the jump shot creator. I don't even think you need over an 85 to shoot consistently, you just need to practice and soon enough you see improvement.
Man if you have good IQ as a casual you should be ok, i think that’s an excuse,as a casual i play 2k competitively 6-8 hours over a span of a week (3-4 days), i run 3&D point, me and my guys play comp and streak every time and no I don’t get carried (sometimes if I don’t feel like scoring lol) I’m not out there shooting heavily contested shots like a fool, those type of guys you see in old gym chucking up heavily contested go 0-5 and quit! so stop using that excuse for casuals shooting 1-7 with poor IQ and unable to learn the game because really if you played one 2k trust and believe you’ve played them all.
When you find your shot, dont change it and before you play, go to a private court or the team training, to train your muscle memory or warmup a little. Then you good to go.

Idk why everyone is complaining about shooting in 2k23. Learn how to shoot with your jumper and everything will be fine. This game is much more realistic than the versions before. You cant shoot now from anywhere, even while being contested, and still hit the 3pointer. That was ridiculous. Now the game is much more fun. The PG's are really now passing more often than in the last 2k versions. now you have to play as a team. thats a big W
I don’t like jump shot speeds. My 6’8 pg shoots like he sips codeine. Kevin Durant is damn near 7ft his jump shot is fast, Lebron is 6’8 his shit isn’t slow asf, lamelo ball is 6’7 he shoots fast of the dribble. I understand we don’t want centers out here shooting quick asf but damn son could I shoot my open shot without my defender closing out from the other baseline!
They just need to make it like before when you you have a catch an shoot speed and then a normal set shot speed. They’re like 5 different shooting speeds and it’s stupid. Contested, uncontested, set shot, catch and shoot, and low stamina (which is like fucking anything under 70% 💀). I can go play in real like an spring for 30 mins and have the same shot speed.
As a person that may play about 10 hours a week im hitting 60% of my 3s so far in rec every shot shouldn't be a make people going 16/16 12/12 from deep don't happen and perfect games are like once every 5 years
Shooting is not good..it's super inconsistent..overall it feels like shit..like I have no control over my player

bruh I like the shooting but 2k still trash. I don't understand how anyone wants to play this game online. bunch of ball hog. completely unrealistic movement. and I mean completely unrealistic. trash animations. people still spamming the steal button. its damn near impossible to play defense. shits just arcady as hell. then you factor in the can't make a shot and everyone makes these super demigods and the lag you just have a huge mess.
If you play basketball you should be able to play a basketball game and be good if you learn the game. Quit preaching bullshit. When you have three people trying to be the point guard is the problem. That has nothing to do with being a casual. This not a Basketball Ball Community.
You do have to time your layups. If you don't play with layup timing on you have a way higher chance of missing lays that you could have easily made with layup timing. You do have the time you're dunks I've seen plenty of people rim out dunks with the dunk meter. in fact I've seen more people rim out dunks with the dunk meter then I've seen them actually make the dunk.
