That's so bullshit bro. I've never spent money on 2k outside the occasional 10 dollars just to get to a 70 sum on a new build. I'd always end up playing my career cuz I didnt mind the grind. This year that's impossible because of the tedious story missions and extremely expensive attribute upgrades. I know I already bought the game but I'm legit not gonna play it this year. I'm insentivized to spend money because the free method is near impossible if I don't play 2k all day everyday. Fuck these greedy assholes

@@Jsuav huh? It's about 300k vc to get to 92, starting off at 60 you're only option is mycareer. With incentives and so on you'll get around 1k per game, with pro on 5 min quarters. So not 2 hours but more like 100+.

Because the game is literally unplayable without buying any VC. It's so suicidally boring and trash to play offline, let alone online, with a 60-75 overall build, which is at least for the first few weeks if you don't buy any VC. 20 bucks 75k VC is the very minimum you have to buy every year at the start to make the game playable or otherwise you might as well not buy the game at all. The whole concept is unbelievably twisted, which is a shame since I really enjoy playing 2k when my player is good enough

Us as players and creators need to come together and the only way to get the “owners” attention is a lockout. Set a date get a bunch of creators together to spread the word and have people refuse to get on the game until the higher ups in 2k address the issue.

exactly.boycott 2k24. we got 1 year to get everyone on board. i love kobe, and they are going to hype it up next year, but we must resist. i bought 2k22 because they shut 2k20 servers down on my career. 2k22 has a worse my career than 2k20. the game got worse and yet i paid for it(not full price...never that). i am boycotting 2k23 based on the vc issue(requires more vc for upgrades), no build player up, weak story/butt of all jokes, cpu cheating(locked in animations, facing wrong way, ball going through hands to opponent), heard eras is cool, but a filter basically and that a lot of in game stuff for that mode wasn't fixed, the fact you lose teammate grade as time passes(like you can go from an A- to B+ just dribbling the ball up court, and a few other reasons.

In Canada it costs $100 for the standard edition and $135 for 450K VC. $235 total. divide that by 12 is roughly $20/month to play My Career. I think they are taking advantage of us.. no way this game costs more to make than netflix' costs to produce movies and shit.

You can’t get the VC prices changed, but the cost to upgrade attributes should and can be. Or the VC payouts. 600VC for playing 30 games and play them well??? That isn’t even enough to put shoes on your feet in 2k let alone upgrade an attribute.
nba player has to play 2 nba games to be able to afford adidas superstars lmaooooooooo. get rid of vc and just assign set attribute points. make nba 2k about skill, not who has the most vc or upgraded player. skill levels will be based on win percentage and certain stats like no turnovers and high fg percentages. make cosmetics purchasable with real money, not vc. another youtuber put out a video saying put cars and mansions in the game and make you pay for these cosmetics with real money. u know how much they can make with those? like a mansion equivalent to $20 in game purchase. cars worth say $5.00 or $10 for the lambo. people will eat that up.

And practiced every day until my badges were maxed. Its a grind without money. Basically a year to get to 99. No streetball played.

This man is speaking nothing but facts. I personally have been playing 2k since 2k16 and i buy 2k every other year to see what has changed. This year 2k has changed, normally I grind my player out but this year was the first year I actually had to buy vc. Normally I take pride in grinding my player but this year it’s almost impossible to do that now with no reward for my career. It’s sad that 2k is moving in the wrong direction year after year.

I purchase the game every 3 years. Didn’t buy 2k23 even though ppl claim it’s the best 2k in years.. yeah that’ll change in a few months with patches. 💀 and most times I’ll wait till it’s on sale anyways.
Its honestly sad, if you didnt buy vc, it would take your normal, regular-schedule person MONTHS to get 99 overall with badges; and thats IF you plan on having no social life on your free time. Each mycareer game is atleast 15 mins and pays around 1k vc. Its 230k just to get 90! Youd have to comeplete like 4 SEASONS JUST TO GET 90 OVERALL! Your player is so bad he’s basically unsuabpe until about 80 overall. Who has fun playing with a 65 overall? Idk how much time 2k thinks we have on our hands, but some of us work and some of us are in school. Theyve officially gone off the deep end.

To put things in perspective, look at how quickly everything fell apart for EA in the newest battlefield, everyone was extremely hyped and the game was doing great until the community began voicing issues they had that were never addressed until it was too late, the game came and died within months from the community pressuring the company to be more consumer friendly. If 2k has no pressure to be more consumer friendly it’s they’re literally gonna keep pushing the limit to see just how much they can get away with 😂. They know it’s expensive as hell to upgrade players but if no one with any kind of platform or INFLUENCE says anything they basically have a license to print money 😂

2K should implement “Build Packs”… a pack that comes with 3 builds that start off at 85 overall at $20-$30 price range. They don’t have to lessen the VC prices, but at least give us multiple builds that are already somewhat playable without adding VC.
They marketed the secret builds so much this last week and this would’ve made a killing for 2k. That’s just me thinking about business, but we need OPTIONS. One build for $100 is insane… I don’t want to invest no more than $200 dollars for a game and giving us more playable builds is a reasonable idea

I made my build and when I saw how much VC it was to get him to an 85 I immediately closed out of MyCareer and went straight back to MyTeam. I usually build at least one player a year. Not this year, they priced me out. 50 dollars a build was unacceptable. 100+ dollars a build is completely outrageous
But u still have to spend hella money on MyTeam cause the players/packs cost a lot

I went back to old 2k videos from nba 2k15 and you can upgrade your player by a category instead of individual upgrades. Like you could upgrade box out, offensive and defensive rebound at the same time with a single upgrade but now you have to upgrade those things individually and they cost more vc too. Like to upgrade just one attribute like defensive rebound it could cost you over 20k vc or more
I disagree completely, tweeting and causing an uproar on social media will most def contribute to them considering lowering the prices, it's the same idea of when people get banned on twitch and they have to make viral tweets about it with trending hashtags, and then they end up getting unbanned because of all the heat, if enough large sized content creators came together and started a movement 2k would not just overlook it, because we all know they want to "look good" in the public eye, but basically saying, hey I agree but, I won't take part in this movement with yall, is just gonna keep the problem going.

I'll give it so far a 7/10 a fun 2k game in terms of the offline stuff including the my eras mode. Yes it still not perfect nor the best 2k ever made but it's a step in the right direction this year so far. So 2k23 is fun and grinding in mycareer is good enough.

People seem to forget that after your done the rookie season you make tons of VC per offline game. Just grind out the first season then the VC comes in spades

The best thing everyone can actually do to impact the pockets of 2K is to actually play the game but DO NOT buy VC at all.
This will do one of 2 things
1: 2K sees their customers aren’t happy & they act to please the community or
2: they do nothing & we the community can actually see 2K for who they really are & see they don’t care at all.
At least if we see their true colours we can’t no longer complain about that specicific issue.

What 2k could do is make earning vc thru my career easier and larger back in the day in 17 those off days used to give you BANK I think it was at least 10k and more for just a event if they just add more ways too get vc then things would be better but even so this year upgrading is insane and then you got clothing like the crocs cost 12k-15k that’s more than custom shoes 😭

Last year was fine. The quests earned you ridiculous amount of money and I was able to get to 99 no problem for one of the first time in many years. This year is a completely different story.
There is absolutely no legitimate reason why this is still a paid game (I know there's a reason, just not a valid one). Fortnite went to war with Apple just to lower its prices, and they're still making bank.

Not only this, but they also took all game modes that dont include stupid money investment to play out of the game. All Star Team Up is the best game mode on the game, and they scrubbed it off next gen games starting last year. You can only play with current, historic, or all time teams. And yet they have all star team up available on old gen. Such a lazy cash grab game at this point that takes advantage of people wanting a basketball game

i swear this is absolutely ridicilous, me and my friend (both PC) players that own a ps5 devided to hop in back again on 2k23 since we stopped at 2k18. we wanted to play on ps5 because the console sports community is just bigger on console, then we actually tought about what we have to pay to enjoy the game, so we basically had to buy 2k23 for 80 fuc**ing bucks, (as a PC player who pays around 40 bucks for a new AAA game i am really not used to this prices so we were schocked) then we had to buy PS plus for a year for what now? 50-60bucks ? AND then we had to buy at LEAST 200k VC to bring our player to a playable state for another 50 bucks.. so we gotta pay about 190Euros just to enjoy a freaking basketball game wich is gonna die in 1 year anyway. This is absolute bullshit. we bought in on PC now for 40 bucks and payed 50 for the first 200k and thats it without some ps plus bullshittery just to use my own wifi.
I can’t even really shop for cosmetics items this year because I have to prioritize my VC that I get to upgrade the cost of my two builds that I made

Exactly why I'm not getting this year's 2k. It's not that I don't have the money because I definitely do. It's that I'm tired of feeling like I am being robbed out my money. Bro you buy the game which is already $70 and then ya have to turn around and spend another $50 -$100 just on one player! Nah bump that. Then on top of that, what if you mess up on your player? It's not the cost of vc, its the cost of how much vc being used to upgrade a player, if they lower how much vc you need to max out a player it would much better, should be like 150k vc to max out or close to maxing out a player
The thing is, in previous 2Ks you just need 180-200k to max out your build (86 overall) but this year it doesn't let you MAX your build, like your vitals (speed, vertical..etc) are still going to be barely upgraded which seriously affects your players ability. In previous 2Ks your vitals scaled with your overall, for example if you were 80 overall your vitals would be 80ish, 70 overall, 70ish..etc. It's so stupid this year...
Once they started allowing ppl to buy their way up, I went back to being a casual...
They will lower their money if everyone speaks out but Joe Knows was invited the first time ever and probably scared too go out and say something. The logical point of view is these people are the games influence and the fan base is the money maker. You have both of those threatening to leave the game if the prices aren't lowered will scare 2k into lowering the vc prices. The money coming in is more important than money made that is business logic.
I remember when you had to grind to upgrade your player. Now it’s these micro-transactions that destroyed the game.
I’ve seen 80% contested layups go in. 20-30 is Childs play i seen that shit in 22 as well
What a tool of a response. It’s not just that building characters cost way too much. 2k has been unplayable without boost. That means it costs like 17/20k VC for every ten games. So it takes 40 career games to play 10 online matches. In 5 days of playing the game it’s crashed 50 times. Navigating the parks is horrible to coordinate and you can’t see other plays reps who are walking up?what a joke. Even staring at my 50” screen I can’t even see which court is no squads. Charge a bunch of money and be bums but at least make a decent game. Shooting fades too easy, no one can guard there own build and dribbling too easy

Joe Knows has a good point. This isn't a problem 1 person can fix, yeah its good to raise awareness but 2ks scummy and greedy practices stem all back all the way to what 2k13-14? This isn't anything new. The best way to make an impact is speaking with your wallets, personally haven't bought a 2k myself since 2014. But knowing the kind of individuals the 2k community caters to, it's a lost cause.

Hold up now.. You tweaking my boy..NBA LiVE 19 was 🔥.. it just had dookie dribbling and shot contest.. I upgraded my player for free. With fun, ease, AND less time.. There's numerous of ideas 2k pulled from Live.. i.e. the new defensive system
When your biggest consumers are teenage boys. These business practices are predatory. That age group wants to have "drip"... Best shoes, build, clothes, etc. Can't buy the game and just enjoy the journey.
it was like this last year too BUT on current gen it didnt change. Which is why i stayed on current but this year both gens are the same so its kinda lame. They need to drop the upgrade prices. The little man like us wont change shit but big influences can for sure talk to their connections in 2k to lower upgrade prices, not VC prices, the cost to upgrade.

Honestly, I think the real sell outs are the ppl who complain about the prices and still shell out $100 + after buying the game. If you really have an issue, don’t spend that much. Take your L’s here and there. But everyone cheeses and boosts and pays to win and finds exploits to have an advantage.
Well you can’t fully blame those people. 2K is the ONLY basketball game on the market… so if they want to play a basketball game, they HAVE to buy 2K every year. (Especially if they play with friends) as far the 100 dollars go, even that is debatable, because you will need to buy VC to upgrade your build so either way you are putting extra money after purchasing the base game. It’s a lose lose situation.

Sadly, most won't because they don't have the will power to stop playing and take a stand. MAKE 2k fix this issue. I only play my career. It's easy for me to stop playing.
Good on you for speaking out. I think what a lot of content creators aren’t realizing is that the more people that speak out the more likely other companies will take notice that there IS a market for a competitor to 2K and that increases the Luther another game will come which in turn will make things better. Monopolies only come down when competitors realize they can make inroads into the market. But if they never hear that people are dissatisfied with existing products…then they aren’t likely to see an opportunity for themselves to insert themselves into that market space
Why are y’all acting like this hasn’t been a thing since 2k17? It cost $100 to get your player to a decent rating that year too. It took 6 years for the “community” to realize this?? Didn’t Agent already make this video on 2k17..or was it 2k18? Y’all clearly have made it known that no matter y’all will still buy and spend extra money on the game. This is just crying wolf, as far as 2k is concerned.
only way vc prices change is if they lose players. They do the bare minimum to keep people happy (this game is good ngl) then when and if their sales dip they will drop something that will get people to play again

Yeah this is the first year I’m not making one or two builds and I’m only doing the second one because of the rebirth quests. I usually make 4 or 5 builds. Not this year 2k you actually gonna lose money on me

My one question is, when my 99 strength build gets nerfed, why am I forced to spend money again? It’ll take ages to rebuild and earn VC through the game. So I’m essentially bound to one build for the year ? Or is there a way between seasons to respec ? It’s my first year really playing mycareer. Would appreciate any help on that
Sadly your stuck with that build. There is no changing a build after it’s made and vc is put into it
The whole upgrading multiple builds with money -system is absolutely fucked. They should either keep pay-to-win VC and just let you make one build and edit it as much as you want, or remove VC completely or at least make it like 20% of the price it currently is. Casual players can hardly max out a single build this year even with buying some VC. On FIFA there is no way to use money to upgrade your player, and there is only one "build", of which position, height, weight, attributes, appearence, animations etc. you can edit as much as you want for free. 2k should take note
In my opinion you need $200 to even play 2K AFTER buying the game to enjoy it. Which is ridiculous. You have to get enough to max out your player; then you have to buy ‘skill boost’ and ‘gatorade’ or your player will be limited. Im just one man but I’m considering quitting 2K. Used to love playing it every year but playing a $200-300 video game isn’t as appealing as it once may have been.

After spending $1000 plus on previous 2k’s I told myself not this year 😂 I haven’t made a build yet and don’t plan to playing park and Rec ain’t been fun since 16 anyway
Personally, for me i would change the price of vc, and allow people to change when their green animation comes up, like from straight away with other 2k, to delayed like 23. I would also add the feature (if not already in havent checked) where you can make "bundles" or "outfits" which you apply an outfit you made, save it, and when you change your fit and want to come back to it, you can just press a button and switch your outfit.
That's is in the game you can save up to 3 outfits and cycle through with L2R2 in the appearance menu
is green animation really worth complaining about? and you can make outfits and switch through them..

If everyone decided to no longer buy 2K and its overpriced VC, the people behind this nonsense would be FORCED to change their practices. Problem is, too many people are PROGRAMMED and WEAK-MINDED to do anything! They'll complain but nothing will change. 2K knows that a lot of those who continually shell out for annual re-releases of the SAME GAME will continue to flock to MyCareer/MyPlayer. Why would they change if the CATTLE continue to be willingly HERDED into a box that allows 2K to make a MINT year after year? STOP BUYING IN AND STOP BUYING VC!

I disagree with how you feel about NBA Live. When 18 and 19 came out I felt they made a serious comeback and especially with 19 it was so good that I didn't give 2K18 and 2K19 so much as a glance. Not to mention I had endless amounts of fun playing and more importantly I didn't need to break the bank to do it

I never buy VC. I haven't bought VC since the $5 I spent on VC on 2k16. Over the years 3 weeks would be good enough with adequate play time to get a player to a mid 80 to 90. With in game rewarded VC, 2ktv VC, and daily NBA game VC but they have severely reduced the I'm game rewards this year. The example of the quest to only get 600 VC is a perfect example. I would never tell someone to buy VC and always tell people it's pointless to buy VC but this year it's bad. I'm finally glad the community is finally talking up but more need to. It's too many people that are willing to "pay to win" that won't stop 2k from this..
So fucking true the vc is out of control I grinded mycareer to 85 and was about to call a quit seeing all these 99s everywhere my homies dropped 50 and gave me the 200k vc think I would've jumped to 99 right, but nope I'm a 97 how in it hell does that make sense
VC is ridiculous at this point.
They might have gone too far and will probably change course. Why? Because people in the past would have done multiple builds at $50. I’d argue 2+ (more than $100). Now a lot more people are probably gonna just do 1 build. Overall 2k might make less money from that. They are just looking for the fine line to make as much as they can. I think they probably went too far this year and it will backfire.

I'll rank 2k23 8.5...my only issue is the same as yours scoring on inside..I hope the buff inside defense...my other issue is personal issue and that is I played small forward sharpshooter for the last 8yrs and I shoot about 48% from 3..there be some games I'll go 5/5 then next game I'll go 0/6 idk but shooting for me is so inconsistent for me..so anyone wnat give a 6"8 sf a good jumper with good Q?
