- Every single 2K that comes out there is always a "meta" that is followed by the game. Last year it was 5'10 playshots with 90+ 3s. This year it is TALL builds running to rim....well according to some people in the community.

Absolutely... It should be more balanced. Just like everyone complaining about the steals... Steals don't need to be nurfed but unpluck should be buffed
It needs a rework, my 2nd build is a post scorer and I’m missing 5 percent contested shots on players that are around 6’6.

i feel like those people complaining have a 80 interior defense and except to stop a 99 driving tall player while himself being 6'9 ( so not really tall ) and an average defense, for my friend defense is easier than last year, he's a 7'1 center with 99 interior defense

If someone is guarding you very tight on the perimeter what are you supposed to do jack up a contested three? Rim running is a term used by 2K players to try & justify themselves getting dropped off by someone who is blowing right past them every possession.
I believe he means that rim running is op, take for example someone has a open 3 but since he isnt very good he rim runs instead of shooting and makes a dumb layup or dunk, I dont particularly think he talking about what you said because thats just common basketball iq

My issue is the 6'9 builds get better badges while I got my 6'2 pg and all my good badges are in tier 3 but u 6'9 and all the shooting and defense badges u want are only tier 2 so it makes sense to just make those builds. I keep playing against these type of guards it's really annoying

Kinda like irl short players. Obs taller builds are better this 2k but these same builds are crying about getting ripped by locks cus all they can get is silver- unpluck

Facts😂. No shit a 6'3 Steph Curry build can't stop a 6'8 player. That's how it should be. Only way a 6'3 player should be able to clamp is if they make it a lockdown build (which no one is doing)

Nope.. im loving the balance. They have let dribble spammers dominate the last several 2k... Not to mention alot of people have sacrificed interior defense to be offensive dominant. I hope this makes people become more conscious in what they have to give up from a attribute perspective.

I'm loving the game! The hard part for my defensive anchor is i get punished for not jumping on a 40% layup attempt. And have to almost always assume that these shorter slashers will always make those types of contests. This is happening right now on my 7'1 93 overall big with 95 plus stats on D and all the HOF and Gold badges needed. Pogo stick is clutch because of this
People asked for Demi gods they got em now they upset but I don’t play park isn’t about skill it’s about speed boosting always has been just speed boost with a shooting big in corner has always been the meta I enjoy team play myself and ball in the Rec or Pro AM
Play some defense
Just make it so all shots have to be timed on release. Easy fix. Then we’ll have an ACTUAL skill gap.
I made a defensive/rebounding build, and the only issue I have with interior defense is the collision detection. I'll be in perfect position for a block, but since a lot of the finishing animations have huge s, I usually end up getting pushed out of bounds, when I should have gotten a block or at the very least a good contest. A lot of times I have to tell my teammates not to come in the paint, because 2k does a horrendous job with navigating bodies, resulting in me getting body-blocked from contesting a shot, or missing a rebound entirely. I do think the build you make factors in to the success rate of your contest. If you have a 25 block rating, don't complain that a slasher with a huge height advantage and a 90+ dunk rating, is scoring over you consistently. From what I've observed, most centers in the game have no interior defense, electing to have good/average or below average defensive stats, in favor of shooting/ finishing. The clips make sense when you consider that most people's badges and attributes make them nothing more than a minor inconvenience, even when they have good positioning. Now let's keep the conversation on these ridiculous VC prices, because 2k really tweaked this year.
I have a maxed out defensive anchor, 7’1”, 251 max defense an finishing all in 90s. A pg can put there hands up an defend all put backs in the paint, ball just bounces out. an then they rim run me, an I have good position, good stats, good badges, an IQ, an they still finish more times than not. But I cant make a put back to save my soul.

I made a center build that gets 80 interior defense and I think around 87-90ish block. I haven't tried it in multi-player yet since I don't have it maxed and don't have badges yet but how do you think it'll do against other players
@@kybalerton2608 i’m a 240lbs 6’8 glass cleaner with 96 interior defense, bronze anchor(max for my build btw), and 80 block and guards make layups over me ALL day. I’ll literally be in paint intimation takeover and get “good shot contest” on their layup and it will still go in. I’m honestly done with park, no one is gonna enjoy playing demi gods for a entire year. If you aren’t running 3 6’8 demi gods on the court it is VERY hard to win. Rec is definitely the best game mode right now
For me as a big, it's them getting under the rim and pump faking then layup away from you that you jump at with HOF anchor and it still says no contest
Definitely 7 layups and dunking has always been a major part of basketball. Believe it or not, even before the 3pt line was even invented. Why ppl always try to tell others how to play a game they pay their money for. People do need to get they defense up and play better. I get dunked on in the rec at least once a day. But I stop more points than not. And I'm a 6'9" sf. This community always trying to change the meta of this game to suit them. Damm shame.
People complain about the lack of teamball but when they get clamped up by an organised squad playing teamball they start crying 😂

You do realize there are NBA superstars that basically do everything? You just need good defense and good positioning. You have teammates to switch and rotate around. If you get cooked, you get cooked, simple.

this is so odd to me, my 6'11 inside cant make a layup unless it's 10% covered or under, but other builds make so many contested lays, i have really good finishing stats and maxed badges, with pro touch and time my lays, so idk
Yeah I had a big with high block and interior defense with all the badges. They run to the rim and there’s nothing you can do. I spent a lot of money making that build and spent a lot of time on it. Overall 99 with all the badges. I couldn’t play it anymore. Currently working a new build and grinding for the VC. 2K is not getting anymore of my money. 2K does this on purpose to make money.

I enjoy the gameplay as is. I'm always a defense first then mid ranger SF. I can admit that interior defense probably needs some buff but I've had success defending but my play style is defense wins. I'm just worried if something gets buffed or fix it will break something else.
Rim running isn’t annoying if you have a good defensive rating
I got an 85 interior defense and 93 block with max defense badges and still get absolutely destroyed and I'll add that I typically over the past few Years have averaged 1-3 blocks a game. Now I average probably right around 1

I’m a 3pt shooter and personally I don’t mind the way rim running is because atleast it’s not a bunch of other people who are snipers now like all the other 2k’s. Now I actually feel like THE shooter on the court most games

Steals are absolutely insane. I saw one tuber talk about it and he had a good point. There’s timing on almost every action (req skills) EXCEPT for steals. Just tap X and viola the ball is yours. It’s really bad

Considering that you need to Time your Layups and Dunks justifies people being able to dunk the way they do. Plus majority of the people complaining don’t know how to guard the paint, or made their build with little to no defense. I have a 6’8 PF with 90 int def and a 93 block. I stop majority of the dunk attempts and get tons of blocks.
Y’all did the same thing with post scoring only to deal with stretch 4’s and complain about that too

I think part of the problem is people try to make these lockdowns that are only 6‘6“ or 6‘7“ and don’t invest in interior defense and only the block stat. This ultimately results in people making layups over you in the paint because you’re hands up defense isn’t as impactful when you’re guarding the interior
This game requires a team to actually play defense, ive yet to see a completely dominant lock that stops the ball 100% it’s usually good pinches and fast paced rotations. Fading guards are still a thing but they’re way easier to stop now. My new rebirth 6’6 SG plays the top and stops most of the faders in the game ive played. Its just about defense and rotations. People need to stop crying and enjoy the competitiveness of the game as far as momentum swings and everything else
I think the only real issue with this build system is that taller players have the same amount of freedom as shorter ones. The only thing that changes between a 5’11 PG and a 6’9 PG are the attribute caps, so tall players are at a bit of an advantage
EDIT: I know it’s realistic but I liked the way it was in 2k20 too. Something in between would be great because it was a bit excessive in 20 with tall players being nerfed
Small guards can get 108 badges a 6'9" only gets 75-80

This is way overdue for 2K. Majority of the best NBA players are 6'8+ guys who can do everything...yet in older 2K's, you have to create a midget guard just to be able to handle the ball. It's as if KD, lebron, paul george, kawhi, tatum, brown, luka, butler, etc didn't exist!

People hate rim runners and call it no skill because there's so much rng. On defence players slide pass you like they got on baby oil. they perform a stepback and your player freezes for no reason, u play good defence and they throw a dumb pass that launches their teammates to the other side of the court for an o open shot. And most of these players dont do anything to get open. They just force themselves into the paint until they squeeze past you or they take advantage of the terrible responsiveness on defence.
To all you " team basketball players" , passing the ball and driving to the paint until 1 of your teammates get an open dunk doesnt mean ur good or have IQ.

Defense is actually perfect . I have less than 50 of every defensive stat and still get rebounds steals and blocks . Knowing how to play defense without badges and upgrades can carry you a long way tbh

If you have space creator, Quick first step, Hyperdrive, ankle breaker, fearless finisher, giant slayer, masher, and the bully badge and strength and speed over 70, you are unstoppable getting to the rim lol
My only complaint is the slight delay or whatever it is with the shot meters. I personally rely on them alot and takes time to adjust especially when each player now has several different shot timings. (Which I love but the damn delay). The Interior defense could use maybe a little work but overall I am enjoying the gameplay. (Besides the delayed shot meter and dribbling in Online.

@@NasTheGod215 dude I have a download speed of 800 my internet is top tier. I play MyTeam so maybe there is no delay in other modes. But if I remember correctly you also need WiFi to actually play the game.

I look at this years 2k as them trying to be more realistic so I think the paint defense is fine because you gotta think about it. There’s times in the real life where a player has good contest on the drive and most of the time miss but there times a player would go up heavily contested and luckily make the shot every once in a while and I think the paint defense plays the same way, sometimes a player is gonna drive and you’ll be all over it and he makes it every once in a while to me it’s more realistic and I have no problem with that and the overall gameplay

It's just 2K remembering that "wait...the closer you are to the basket, the easier it should be to score". No small guard is stopping a forward in the paint. He just doesn't have the height to bother the shot. So it makes sense at least, unlike the endless left right horseshit from last year

I have a 80 win so I’m ok at the game I would say the game is a 8/10 great game play. Steals and rim running should be touched a bit shooting is good but the buds are crazy I’ve had so many lag outs can’t do tats badge demoting and so much more they need to fix the buds and and then I think the game would be a 10/10

The game is meant to get to the bucket and that will never change. This rim running narrative is overblown as it is part of the game. You have to pass to create offense and play team defense to be successful. In this year's instance of 2K the only OP mechanic that needs review is the post hook and 6'9 gaurds with more skills than an actual gaurd. Most can play play park and stop playing rec if team play is annoying to you. The game is not perfect, but there are many game modes to accommodate most play styles.
People really mad cuz players are driving to the hole ? That’s their fault for creating those builds with no defense. Ninjas will complain about anything.
This is the best 2k thus far to me. I love everything about it. The badges REALLY make a difference this year. And defense really takes skill this year. BUUUUUUUT, lol. The game is toxic if you don't have a multitude of friends to play with because the Rec, Theater, and Park are full of people with horrible basketball IQ. 2k23 8/10

I agree interior defense is way to inconsistent, too many people just drive with no regard of getting blocked. I just think they need to buff it s little not too much. Same with unplucable the playmaker badge, buff it don't nurf the steals. Now ppl that have 80 or below steals sorry but u can't get steal everytime, even if you're in good position. My build has 99 steal should I get every steal no, but I should have a high chance if I just know when to steal it. Same with interior defense if big goes for a well timed block he should get it, not get dunked on everytime.
Only problem I have is that why can centers miss a shot in the paint grab the rebound and just standing dunk it in at light speed 💀

I got a 6'10 KD build at 210lb..with 78 blocks and I get plenty of str8 blocks on bigger players, as well as chase downs and blocked dunks. Idk.. I think it's all about knowing your strengths of defense.. Because I'm smaller and for some reason I end up playing center for some reason so I punish big men on the perimeter with an 88 three ball and 80 handles.. For some reason it's never a center I'm playing out of position most games and I still do pretty well.. And my interior defense isnt fully maxed yet..
I believe if you keep everything the same but stop 30% or more contested layups going in and have like a 3% chance of them going in for every 1% under 30%
(Eg. 29% contest = 3% chance of making the layup, 28% contest = 6% chance of making the layup, etc).
People are brain dead. IRL nobody is blowing past you every possession unless its a huge skill gap.

You can’t expect to get a lot of stops in the paint unless you put lots of attributes into interior defense.. If you think rim running is too easy you can stop it put you have to sacrifice build points

I’m a 6’9 2 way inside out scorer, the game feels balanced to me tbh and it’s relatively easy for me to contest rim runners unless they got glitchy ass dribbles.
I know the contests can definitely use a revamp in the paint. But me personally I’m not having a problem with rim running. I lock up my match up before they get to the paint or I just meet them at the rim with Chase Down Artist.
This! Stop allowing them to get around you with only 3 adrenaline boosts and you wouldn’t have this problem. Completely agree
People have been using the same build since 2k15, but the one yr the Meta changes than it’s a big problem. 2k22 was so easy too shoot and if you used a play shot and were open by a hair than it would be an automatic bucket. It got to the point where people would pass up a wide open layup for a fadeaway 3pt.
And also whoever complains about people scoring in the paint and say “that takes no skill”… well I have some bad news for you. We didn’t get this game to please you, you dont hear people saying dunk on the 7’3 center with your 5’10 playshot.
The interior defense needs a buff. I get pushed out of bounds when I’m trying to protect the rim. Is it me or players can’t block dunks this year?
I remember when people used to make team 3v3 gameplay like chino hills play style or Splash brothers
All the people complaining about rim running are 6"3 guards with maxed shooting and playmaking with no defence. Not my fault you made a build that can't play defence because you only want to score.

Problem is consistently making 40+ (70+ even) covereds then missing 10 covereds... it has all come done to the green or miss shooting (also perimeter d being op), people are gonna rim run 🤷♂️ same can be said with post hooking and the mashing too.
I made a build with 88 perimeter, d 85 interior d, 84 steal and block, as well as 85+ mid range and 3, around 75-80 on every physical except stamina and speed which are higher, and a 86 driving dunk and 80 driving layup. The build is good at literally everything, and the only thing I have noticed is that timing is everything. If you play good defense than the contest % shows that. Only complaint is greening and make percent in interior finishing. I think that the lower percentages (open-15%) are good, but the higher percentage go in way too much.
i think people need to learn how to really play defense. ppl still think jumping is the best way to defend the paint.
As someone who mainly plays rec I don’t find interior defense to be a problem.

i have a 55 driving layup and i be hitting 30% contested but if i shoot a bounce back 3 slightly late with a 97 3pt rating im bricking. this is the most confusing 2k I've ever played
I used to play on 2k online leagues on FB too back in 2016 -2017. Shoutout to WR and hoop dreamz pro am leagues.
yeah i think they should touch layups and dunks or buff defense against them. (not including layup bar or skill dunks) hopefully they don't nerf finishing into the ground but well see what happens when season 2 drops.
the first guys comment about content creators changing how ppl on 2K play is so true…i hate playing with randoms now because they wanna dribble the air out the ball, cross their man up and go back to the 3 point line to try to cross them again then shoot a three once the shot clock runs out. No when i see a kid join me it’s gloves on or that stupid football helmet i just leave lol
I hate the fact that you can just run by people and dunk regardless of their defensive ability. me and my duos teammate have been calling them 'track stars'
They need to buff the STR stat to help with blocking the 6'9 rim runners. If you have high STR you should be able to block all the rim runners. Higher STR more strip blocks. They messed it up with the Bully badge as for no one wants to do layups.
I have a 6’4 2way 3 level scorer… I get nothing but stops… ppl complaining about defense and don’t know how to position themselves to defend… don’t know how to use the stick to get cutoff animations… and don’t invest in their defense
Most people sacrifice interior defense in favor of having meta offense. Why people want their builds weakness to be buffed? idk.
What’s funny is we broke a team because a duo of a pg and center wouldn’t pass it to their hash sitter
I shut the paint down consistently but I made my player to do that specifically…ppl can’t complain if they make builds that are lacking in these areas defensively then get mad that they can’t get stops…I use the meta against ppl…they are so use to rim running so whenever I play they think that shit will work and I dominate games with double rim takeover and gold break starter
I think the issue is even when u in good position defending the drive the game still says they open or there light coverage...
7 I been having fun. I seen guys hit non-green 100% contested layups but everything else not finishing is great.
7, however as a 7’0 C with 93 INT and BLK, I must say that paint defense is broken. My contest rate and blocks per game have doubled since launch but 30-40% of the time players just go through your body or make a 40-70% contested lay.

I have a 6-10 stretch 4 and I can hold the paint down. Yes I get dunked on but I hit contested 3s in the corner. Charge it to the game and keep playing.
i dont have a problem with a slasher making a contested layup if he has good positioning, just cause you got a defensive build doesnt mean you should stop everything.

Problem is you either have to pick good shooting and dunking with no defense or be a good shooter with defense or dunking with defense.....I picked dunking and defense...why would I shoot when my stats are low ...so yea I dunk alot.......most plp got horrible paint defense then complain when I meter dunk on them ...but they got 95 3 and green in my face what's the difference
