I am in tears. This video hit me to my core. I have naturally mid value hair, kind of light brown with some warm tones, but I have been greying since I was in my twenties and coloring my hair blonder and blonder and blonder. I am 53, not of the selfie generation, and I had not really gotten a good look at myself other than in the mirror until someone recently sent me a picture. I was blown away how washed out that I looked -sickly and weak. I pulled out some photos of my young natural hair and I looked so much healthier. I knew that to dye my hair all over with my natural color was impossible for my budget, but I thought that I could foil in some low lights of my natural color to give my hair more dimension and contrast. It cost me over 200 dollars at a very well-reviewed, upscale salon. I ended up with brassy orange hair. It was so bad. I just lost my job due to my store closing and could not really afford to get a professional color correction, so I tried to color correct with a blue shampoo several times, but it was so unbearably unattractive. I knew that I needed confidence to go out on interviews. I bit the bullet and made another appointment and ended up basically with lighter gold hair which is a little better, but still looks wrong on me and cost me again over 200 which I should not be spending right now. My natural grey is a bright, vibrant white that almost sparkles. I have a very clear and bright complexion and I think it will look very much in harmony with me. My mother has the same hair, and it is striking. But I have been so worried about people thinking that I am a senior citizen. I am a very active, energetic person. Also, when I asked a former hair stylist about letting my grey grow out, she said that I will look so much older than my age. Your video and a few others on UA-cam have convinced me. I am done! I am embracing my natural color. Thank you!
I've been on the grey train for 10 months now. I'm 28. Got my first grey at 17. My friend the other day was like ew dude you gotta fix those roots there. I got extremely insecure and ordered hair dye online immediately... But then I started googling people's grey journeys and found so many inspiring stories and pictures. I had been so proud of my silver hairs I was so excited to get more until that comment from her. I thought screw this, I loved it up until that point. This is MY life. MY hair and I will not let someone else make me feel poorly for something that is plain and simply me. This isn't just about the way my hair looks, it's about accepting myself the way I am. It's about shedding that bullshit mask to fit in to society, to be accepted by other women and be attractive to men. I feel free letting my hair grow. I like to say I'm not letting myself go.. I'm letting myself grow. I can't wait to see how it grows out. I find it so interesting how each woman's grey hair looks so unique, such different patterns and tones. I think it's so beautiful and like Lisa is saying, we can be that person to give someone else who is questioning their journey the courage to take the plunge. Anyways!! :) Great video
Happy 10 months Nicole! Thanks for sharing your experience. It's so sad how one comment can derail your confidence like that - I'm really sorry you felt so unhappy with your hair, I think we have all been there at some point and it is NOT FUN. I think you handled it really well and I love the confidence you're sharing here! Keep GROWING strong xx
It is important !! People said to me " you are too young to go grey"!" But I said " my husband is grey and that doesnt bother anyone!" They now all love it haha.
They used to tell me the same thing ur too young to go gray , ur husband will look out for other girls ... Etc .... But hey ... I am the master of myself and I do whatever I want to my head ... I'm better with greys and hair than dying it and losing it all someday
@@cynthiam1381 Society has always judged women unfairly in many many ways. Society has always said it's Ok for men to go gray but its not Ok for women. It's a double standard, Ok. We women have always had it hard, I don't know if EVER this will change, it should. I personally don't think this is fair and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
The day before my last colour appointment I kept catching sight of myself in the mirror with the greys and starting to change my mind about hating them. It really lightened my complexion. I was starting to like it. I went to the salon and got it coloured black as usual(I’m Chinese), but for the first time ever I got a shock when I saw it- it looked like a mask…and it is a mask. It was like the light within that was starting to shine through got covered up and dulled everything. And I was quite sad and emotional when I realised how I’ve been hiding so much more than my gray hair. It is time to get real. That was only 2/3 weeks ago…roots are clearly visible now. Early days on this journey.
Well I am 57 and have been coloring my hair since I was 17! I have been doing this silver train for a year on March 6th. I love the freedom and low maintenance. Thank goodness for the inspiring people on this train with me. I know I am old and should be gray, but the ones who are younger than me, it is freedom!
Yes girl❣️ Every point you made is true. I’m 20 months in and all grown out and loving it! The beautiful glowing skin, the endless compliments, the HEALTHY, soft hair, the depth in the color variations, the feeling of AUTHENTICITY ...ALL of it!
I love this. I’m two years and still not grown out!! I did a video on the Japanese word Wabi Sabi, it means to embrace the imperfections of life and things and us. Japanese love age in a women and I do too. Classic! I love you have embraced aging and the gift that it is🙌🏻 Thank you for the motivation 🍑Lisa
I just started to let my gray hair grow. This video just answered and confirmed so many doubts and questions that I had. I am also a brunette and I can not thank you enough 🤩
Another bonus is decreased environmental impact! I have been trying to reduce my use of single use plastics. Having to color my hair every 3 weeks added no small amount of plastic into the environment. The chemicals we don't want going into our bodies--- we also don't want going out into the environment! Thank you for the reinforcement in this video. I am on the last couple inches of the growing out process and hoping to start 2022 all silver!
You are absolutely stunning! Your skin is glowing with your grey hair. I'm 10 weeks into going cold turkey. I'm 59 & been grey since I was 17. I'm done dyeing, amy friends, family and hairdressers have said no for years. I've never felt stronger or more a woman. 😂💜💕
Yes, came across your video on Google and it was wonderful. Been going grey now for a few months. At first I was a bit scared it wouldn't look right but then I realized this is how the Lord made me, of course it would look right. It's our culture that brainwashed us making us think that grey is not the way. I feel so free and beautiful going grey. I feel like my true self. I'm grateful there is no more dye every where in my bathroom. No more extra steps when doing my hair. No more extra money being spent. No more getting under the dryer then having to rinse it out. It's pure freedom. I'm so blessed to realize that God said grey hair is a crown of Glory, that's when I said, I'm doing this because my God called it glory. So yes, it's a beautiful experience and I'm happy to not be going along with the crowd. My God likes it, my husband likes it, I like it, so who the heck cares if no one else likes it. I'm free, I'm free, got darnit I'm free lol
Thank you so much for this video! I fortunatly never startet dying my hair. Being 43 and having dark hair you can plainly see the white ones but I decided to get older the way nature goes. And I'm really glad that so many women support me and call me brave (which is kind of strange for no men is called brave for going grey). Every woman out there - be proud of what you are and the way nature built you! Look, how beautiful and powerful you are just being yourself!
Yep, Lisa, people have already started complimenting me on my hair. 'Course I thought they were being supportive. Then the other day, my HUSBAND, who never, ever comments on my hair, said, "Your hair is looking really good." I was floored!
OMG! That is the best day ever. It's like, we have to do this for ourselves and we do. BUT when the ones we love come around and start supporting us it just feels SO GOOD and it helps to solidify everything we think we think. Like, I think I like it...but do I? And then a compliment like that rolls in and it's like, HECK YES I LOVE IT! ; ) Thanks for sharing!
Hang in there it only gets better...it took me 22 months..regular oil treatments with a combination of castor oil and black seed oil for the scalp followed by a vinegar rinse diluted in water for shine and it also keeps white hair white. And regular trims every 6 months. You want the end result to be healthy and shiny. Good luck!
I went gray nine years ago but went back. The hair dresser who I went to to dye it asked "Are you sure?? Your gray is so great." That was amazing ... but I did it anyway. Mistake !! I REGRET going back to coloring !! I am ready to do this for good now. Done. Thanks for your support. :)
Be kind to yourself Mary! Everyone's hair journey is different and you'll know when you're ready to go gray. Best of luck with your grow out - you've got this! xo
I definitely needed this today. I have been debating whether I should go natural or to keep coloring (I use henna) and the thought of having to do this into my 70s....exhausts me. Living in a society that equals going gray = getting older and not wanting to upkeep your appearance does not help.
I dont expect this to be ever read by anyone but me, but Ive never given voice to this, so here goes. I last colored my hair at the end of march 2018 (I had a wedding to go to, otherwise, that would probably not have happened) Four tears before that I lost my life partner to a heart attack (I was 41) and I don't know if his death and the subsequent stress and depression brought on the halo quicker or if I was so out of it that I didn't notice or care, but I was kind of startled at how quickly my gray patches grew. I have a lot of long curls and am a no-fuss, wash and wear kind of gal, so the sportiness and patches, turned into natural highlights. I still get the odd "wow, you are GRAY" like I didn't notice or asif it's a subtle hint to go get a proper colour job. At my last hair appointment in June, (I'm now 48) the last of the coloured remnants got cut and the salt is slowly overtaking the pepper, which I'm completely ok with. I now have healthy virgin hair again for the first time in 3 decades. I can't control a lot, but my hair has always been one of my best features and I'm proud of how I have had the self control not to fall for the colour trap. My hair texture is changing, which I will have to relearn, but I am finding that I actually feel more empowered, the more I go gray. Its like the gray is a testament of my life's journey and embracing the gray, helps me to let go of the darkness that has been following me for a while now. Aaaaanyway. Lots of love, from South Africa. ❤🇿🇦
So sorry for your loss Annetijie - it's really weird to see a part of yourself change. Especially one that we have known in only one way for so long. Give yourself time with your new look. I think sometimes we see "absence" as being void of something. But that is not true. There is beauty and control and intention in the absence. For example, I've always wanted a tattoo. I think they are edgy and fun and super cool but I don't have one...yet. And I see beauty in the absence here as well. It's taken a lot of will power over the years at times to NOT get a tattoo. Like, choosing not to get a tattoo is just a beautiful and fun as it is as choosing to adorn your body with a tattoo. The absence does not mean less than, or secondary or thoughtless. Sometimes it means the exact opposite and even more.
Wow. Thank you! When Covid hit, I didn't dye my hair for 4 months, then I had an in-salon appointment, and I dyed it again. I remember thinking, "Why did I do that!" I've been thinking of going gray for a while, but hearing all of your benefits and seeing how great you look (your hair and confidence!), I've finally decided to go all in.
Yeah, I felt the same way just two days ago I had my hair colored and the next day I thought I don’t like the color and it look unnatural. So now I’m back at square one, growing out gray 😊🤍
So beautifully said! I am 5 months in now and in my 60’s. I never thought I would be so happy about transitioning! Everything you said has been true for me as well. Thank you for the confidence boosting 😊
Every thing you said is so true and your hair looks great! I’m 63 and decided to stop coloring my hair cold turkey back in January before the Covid. My hair was thinning and now Its healthier, thicker and I love the different vibrations of gray and silver. I love my hair now and I’m so thankful I started my gray hair journey and looking forward to the end result!😊
You helped me so much on my transition! I buzzed my head 3 months ago and had my transition done at once (not a very patient person), but I am so amazed how much I love my hair now, after 20 years hating it.
Isn't that amazing?! We go through life HATING our hair and not even realizing it OR realizing it but not realizing we can actually change that. So glad you have found peace!
Love your hair. Simply gorgeous. I was a natural brunette. I would spend a fortune on highlights and so much time at the hair salon. Stopped dying my hair in 2015. My hair is a beautiful silver colour, collar bone length with some deeper brown beneath. So yes, If I wear a pony tail, bun, etc., you see beautiful natural lowlights peeking through. I have received many compliments from women, men about how much they love my hair. I have been called Emmylou Harris. My hair is pretty much identical to hers and I even look like her. Best decision I ever made. Occasionally there are some nay sayers but it doesn't bother me, I am confident about going gray. My complexion does look better and I am exploring different colours......I am 69 years old. Beautiful journey for me......
I ditched the dye last July 2019 my hair was thinning out I used to go to the beauty salon after colouring it used to leave a ring around the forehead and in the scalp I washed my hair everyday to make it look natural now I feel free it’s platinum with my black it looks like I have highlights my hair is thicker and healthier your natural glory this is a god gifted phase in your life some don’t even live this far to aging gracefully so embrace
I loved this!! I did a video on the Japanese word Wabi Sabi, it means to embrace the imperfections of life and in aging. That it is a gift. So many people fight it to the point of not looking normal or natural. We are so blessed to age and show our journey! . I just loved your comment. 🙌🏻🍑Lisa Peaches Skin Care
I am in transition now and I still have some negative self talk...one is how do I know I will look good...because you and some other women I have seen are very pretty and can look good in a paper bag...either way I am going to embrace this journey because I want to live more authentically!
You've got this Madison! Believe it or not, I was telling myself my hair was a mousy gray and would not look good grown out when I first started too. I think it's just part of breaking down that stigma and debunking the lies we are so used to telling ourselves. Give it a chance friend. Like fingerprints, your gray hair was meant just for you.
You look so stunning. I can not imagine you in any other hair colour. I've stopped dying 14 months ago and am in that awful stage. I was close to dyeing again but then I saw your hair and I'm back to wanting my natural hair..which is actually lovely. Thank you for sharing.
Lisa, you are beautiful inside and out and I find your videos so motivational and inspiring. I'm 58 and I ditched the dark hair dye in April 2019. It was the best decision I've made in a long time. I like to keep my hair close to shoulder length, so it will take another 9 months or so to be completely rid of all the dyed ends. I too am loving my natural salt and pepper colored hair and I love how authentic I now feel. I have two older sisters who tell me they aren't ready to stop dyeing, but they are supportive of me. Keep up the positive messages! Peace
Hi there! As I got older I wanted to cover that gray, but it always showed through no matter how often I tried covering it (color resistant). Until I REALLY noticed these 2 big bands of silver at the front of my hair. I thought oh WOW "bride of Frankenstein!" But the more I allowed myself to embrace it, the more I liked it. I just turned 60 and to think I've earned ever single strand of gray and owning it. Dye free 12 yrs now.
Haha! Sometimes your gray just wants to be seen! I'm so glad you're embracing your natural color and loving your gray journey Tina. Thanks for watching :)
I'm 56 and this month is my 12 month anniversary of growing out my grey. I love it and can't believe I didn't do this 10 or 20 years ago! One of the triggers was that my hair was falling out at an alarming rate. Since I stopped colouring I have a whole bunch of new growth, my hair is thicker and so much healthier.
Great video. I'm 18 months into my journey and just got a significant haircut so I'm almost finished my transition. It's the best decision I could have made. I don't have a lot of gray, much less than I expected, but am still really glad to be my true authentic self. Thanks for making encouraging content for us.
You look gorgeous with your natural hair!... your hair is gorgeous!!!... I have no support, everyone is saying I look older, and I am only 4.5 months in!!!!..you give me confidence!... thank you so much... great video!!!
I found your channel when I was 4 months into letting my hair go gray. It has been such an inspiration! The support and all the positive tips and benefits make so much sense. I am worrying less about my hair, which has positive impacts on everything. Thank you, thank you! It helps me have the courage to complete this process. I've already gotten nice compliments on my lovely silver highlights!
Hi Susan! I am SO GLAD we connected and you've found success! Going gray is such a beautiful gift that so many of us are afraid to open. You did it girl.
SOLD! Can't wait to start this process! I am 35 and so tired of dyeing my hair! and yes people always comment/stare at my roots! you can see my grays 2 weeks after dyeing it! your hair is gorgeous I hope it looks like yours!
Dear you just give the best expression of why we shouldn't be afraid be gray, but be true to ourselves....,very encouraging , meaningful ,thoughtful 15 min supportive video. It's giving me more confidence in my own transition.... Wish you the best
I am about 14 months in, with super long hair! I had been dying my hair chocolate brown for years, I am shocked at my natural colour having auburn, blond, brown and silver lol I had no idea what my natural colour was under all that dye lol I am 42 and been dying since 15. I am so glad I have started growing it out ..I am going to get to see all the colours as I get more and more grey. I love my witchy streaks! it finally reaches down past my ears! the process is so exciting! Your complection looks amazing and I love your colour pattern! Thankyou for sharing your journey!
Wow that's a long time dying your hair! I'm so happy for you and I can tell you are so excited about your journey. Thank you for your kind words, and keep growing strong! xx
Thank you so much!! I can say I've experienced all 20! I celebrate today my 16 month since I ditched the dye. I look back and remember how afraid and vulnerable I was. I'm a different person now; more confident and happy.
I don't wear lipstick and I am pale with red undertones. I'm not ready for this but I love seeing so many success stories. I'm going silver as a natural redhead, not grey. I would like healthier hair. That would be good. I'll jump in when it's my time. Thank you!
I'm 33 today and have gone one year already with no dye. This has been so hard but already so rewarding. I've been having second thoughts and really need encouragement. In so tired of the up keep. I just have to keep going.
Thanks for the Video! Sorry for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you thought about - Millawdon Goodbye Gray Trick (do a google search)? It is a great exclusive guide for learning how to reverse gray hair fast minus the headache. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my friend Sam after many years got great results with it.
I love this!! I am two years in but Covid really made me stick with it. Just make everything else look great. Your skin and body. I call it my SPARKLE 🙌🏻🍑Lisa
Going gray... tired of the hairdresser telling me it will age me... so what ! I'm a young 56 yr old grandmother of two little boys... and she never did my hair like I wanted, always cut it too short... sigh , tired of it... au naturel 😊 can't wait for this new me... being myself once! New subscriber from Canada 🇨🇦 ❤
I am so happy I found your video! I’m finally taking the first step in this journey. Last dye job was in August and I’ve decided to go cold turkey. I celebrated my 40th birthday in June and I’ve been coloring my hair since my teens. So ready to embrace the gray! Thanks Lisa for sharing this video with us.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I've tried several times to grow out my gray and then after a few months I would dye it. But something has changed this time. I admired and complimented women on their gray hair, I thought they looked absolutely beautiful! For some reason, I just didnt like my own gray hair. I'm slowly learning to embrace it. Listening to a community of other women who have embraced their gray and loving it, gives me so much motivation! Its true, gray hair can make some people look younger. I'm proud to now be a part of the SilverSisters community! Thanks for sharing!
LOOOOVING all of these benefits! 👏🏼👏🏼 Am 38 and decided to do this a few months ago. Am noticing everyone’s hair now too when I’m out and about.. So excited to see what my hair can do! 😄
That you for your story and insights. I'm 1-1/2 months in and discovered this whole movement upon my decision to stop dyeing after over 30 years. I'm loving the itsy bitsy growth of my own beautiful hair. Rather than dread when I see root growth, there's jubilance! Thanks again!
I'm 2 years and a couple of months into my grey journey. I agree with what you said..especially about compliments very true. I've never had as many compliments on my hair....4 more inches to go...can't wait❤ Thanks for this video!
I have a halo of white at the crown. My hair had been dark brown till I hit my 30's and grays started poking through. I just turned 59 so I have been dying my hair 25 plus years. Something changed in my heart this year. I want to be free. I am so thankful for your videos because they fill me with hope and confidence to keep going and not go back to the box!
Yes! I get compliments all the times! I also have people who think I got my hair highlighted this way. I saw "No, It's my natural hair color" I went natural about years ago.
I needed this I am 13 months in and I cut off my hair and I’m hating my two toned hair right now. I told myself it will be better when it’s longer and I need to wait until it’s all grown out to make a decision but I came so close to calling a salon to dye it today ! Thanks
Yesterday, I wrote on my calendar, "Today, I decided to STOP coloring my hair for good!" Today I found your videos :D I'm so excited to simplify my life by going natural gray!
This video was absolutely gorgeous, and I'm celebrating all the silver moon haired ladies out there. So glad to be joining this sisterhood after not dyeing my hair once I got pregnant back in 2019.. Here's to natural beauty glowing from the inside out!
Thank you for this inspiring video! All the positives make going gray really attractive to me - I just decided to take the leap and am needing support. I especially loved the idea that we are changing the world by being a role model of a woman who is 100% real. I've been dying my hair for 28 years, and so this is a huge step for me - into my authentic self.
You are right Debby. It IS a huge step but we can do this. This is the first generation of women who are coming together to break the stigma. This is hard for us but it will be less hard for our daughters because you helped pave the way. xo! Lisa
I watched my very lovely colleague going grey. Beginning honestly I thought, naah, that doesn't look professional. Next stage was nahh, she looks ten years older. I kept my big mouth shut, thinking rightfully it's none of my business. Two years and a haircut later was .. OMG this is gorgeous! Unique and absolutely high confidence protruding. Outstanding in the most positive way. Full respect to her and everyone.
New subscriber over here👋🏻👋🏻 I decided to start going gray and I’m about a month into the process. Like you I’ve been coloring my hair very dark for years (started going gray at 12!!). I could completely relate to this video. So happy I stumbled upon your channel!!
So glad you showed up on my feed today. I've taken the plunge and decided to "put down the dye bottle". Its happening fast as grey popped in my 20's. Today was a moment I almost gave in and WAS going to color (I'm 3 mos in going cold turkey) watching your video changed my mind, again. Your complexion and hair look gorgeous. Im back on the bandwagon and the silver movement. Why should we think less of ourselves men do it and we embrace them. It's time! THANK YOU!!👩🦳🙌🙏
This is the best video on this topic. You are so spot on. I feel all these things especially letting go of the body shaming, embarking on an introspective journey and loving the real you! It’s so true that we come to realize that we are completely lying to ourselves about the validity of many “social norms” and must blaze the way for other women to break away from these unfair social constructs. You are truly beautiful - thank you!
Thank you Sufiya. i'm glad you enjoyed the video :) It's true - it's so important for women to start accepting themselves and celebrating their natural beauty!
I am whole grey, but have short hair now. But it is thick and healthy and I am letting it grow... Can't wait till it is your length !! I am 49 years and my husband thinks it makes me old, but I think it will be beautiful if it is a little bit longer. So I am hanging in there!!
Love and needed this!!! I am only 5 weeks in but the struggle is real!! seeing your video has helped me to suppress all the negative stuff I’m feeling and now I’m excited to stick with it and excited for the future benefits you stated in your video!!!
Thanks for the video, and you look amazing! I always knew I would stop coloring eventually, I have a cool white patch in the front on one side which is where I started going gray. My last full dye was Feb 2019, two months later when I was due I had eczema all over and couldn't color, so I decided that was it (although I did have highlights and later, lowlights). You are so right about the compliments from strangers, as well as silver sisters in the community. Interestingly, I have a new job at a different hospital and I was worried people would think it was strange...there are SO MANY women there that stopped coloring and are at various stages of growing out! What interesting times we live in.
Hi there! I’m 11 weeks into my transition and one thing that has happened to me at this early stage is the fact that my scalp is no longer showing as in scarce hair and new hair is growing right around my forehead. This was something I was struggling with the past five years and right now I can no longer see my scalp and it has been covered by new hair which is just unbelievable! I guess I was frying up my scalp with hair dye and now finally it’s healing with new hair growth and I wish I had done this much sooner 👍🙏💛
I wanted to hear all 20 and you answered what was going on in my head. Thank you so much! I was afraid of looking less than but this is and always be me; it's just the color of hair for goodness sake!
You look great! I am at 5 months mark. My family supports me, but like your Mom, I have not received any compliments from them. The only compliment I got was from a friend, she said “you don’t look older”. LOL. Anyway, I am sure that everything is going to be fine. To everyone good luck in this journey 👍🏻🤗
Thanks for watching Patricia! In my experience, you have to seek out the support at the beginning but by the end it will come on its own. People have way of coming around. Remember, we have typically thought about going gray for months if not years before actually going gray so while we are ready for it, our family has not had that same time to transition. Give them time and see. Promise. xo, Lisa
Thank you. I have been thinking about letting my hair grow out naturally. I am 73, and I thought it would make me look older, but I am now seeing . Beautiful women with grey or white. So I liked, commented, and subscribed to your channel
So happy I found your posts and a new sisterhood! I’m about 7 months in without dying my hair and have started getting the itch to try to blend somehow but don’t really want to. You gave me a whole new perspective on how to approach my next stage in this process. Thank you!
Thank you, what an inspiring video. I'm in the beginning stages of this grey journey and your video is just what i needed today. I too was brought to tears. You're a lovely lady!
All your points are valid! I've been getting more grey over the past decade. I used to dye it brown (natural color) and then for the past three years, I went for vivid colors: purple, navy, lime green and a pixie hair cut. I loved it. But then Covid hit and I couldn't get to the salon. So, over the past year, I've let the color fade and let it grown. It's now just chin length and I am embracing the faded colored into a natural grey transition color and the "new" me.
Thank you! Viewing this video came at just the right moment for me. I’m in my 50s and stopped coloring in March. It’s something I wanted to do for a long time. My husband loves my silver- white hair-chocolate grow out! My daughter not so much... thank you 🙏🏻 again!
Hi Victoria! They will come around! My sons didn't like my hair at first either but now just a couple years later, it's all they know me as and it's not a thing anymore.
You look beautiful! My last color and cut was February 2020. Watching my lovely light brown and gold highlights grow out has been my pandemic science project. Figured quarantine was the best time for the experiment. I planned on coloring again after the vaccine, 💉 but I’ve been so surprised at how much I like my natural gray/silver/white/dark brown. The natural silver/white/gray adds the dimension I wanted, softening and brightening my face. A little off topic, but I also started shaving my facial hair, after seeing a few mature women on UA-cam post about the process. It was startling to see my facial hair as gray blonde. Whoa. Removing the gray facial hair has really brightened my skin tone. I don’t wear makeup anymore either, so that was a huge win. After 8 months, the hair grows back just as it was. It did not turn black or darker or coarser at all. I use devices made especially for women’s faces. A couple things that have helped me is to only look at my new hair growing in and focus on how beautiful and healthy it looks. As my old hair grows out further and further down my head, I don’t see it as much straight on. I’ve decided to call my current hair color ombré and don’t really care anymore if my hair isn’t perfect. It helps that I’m so excited that I love my new natural color. I know it will get better over time. And it’s sooo freeing! Taking collagen peptides powder (30-40 grams/day) has also made my hair so much stronger, healthier, shinier and more abundant. What surprised me is my natural hair (a mix of white, silver, gray and dark brown) is such a pretty color. Even 20 years ago, my natural brown looked mousy, which increased as I aged (soon to be 60). Now the brown is a beautiful rich dark brown. I can’t believe it. I think it’s a combination of the collagen and lack of color process and heat devices. To keep the hair smooth after washing it, I bend over, gather it all in one ponytail and twist it, wrap it into a bun, held in place on top with a clip. Voilà! That also gives me body and soft waves. Otherwise my hair is a frizzy mess if left to it’s own devices. My plan was to dye my hair again after the pandemic; I’m concerned about appearing youthful for job search. But I’m feeling so much better about myself with my natural color, I’ve decided not to let that be the primary determination. I think my confidence and love for my own self will outshine a fake color of supposed youth. Happy natural hair journeys! I think of us as a bunch of gray goddesses, floating in on waves of silvery gossamer tresses. 😊
Thank you Jaye :) Quarantine was a perfect time to start your grow out! Your natural gray was designed for your skin tone so I have no doubt that it looks gorgeous on you!
HI! I know this is a very late reply but I don't think having gray hair is a negative on a job search. I was going to add "depending on your job/field," but no--it's actually on trend and shows a bravery and confidence on your part. I can tell you truly: I get multiple compliments every day (yes!! every day) on my hair, including from girls in their 20s. Also, you said yourself that your hair is gorgeous. Let us know how it is going! And thanks for the tip on putting wet hair in a bun-I'm going to try it.
Totally agree!!! I am done. Stopped the color March 2020 and I also chopped it off super short. I am excited to see my natural color. I wish I would have done this sooner. Stay safe and God Bless.
Great video! I'm 1 month into going natural. I'm excited about all those 20 positive things to come. You look so beautiful, and so happy. Your natural colors are beautiful. 😀
You are so inspiration and it is so reassuring that someone else feels or felt the same. At the beginning of this process. Thank you for being inspirational.
I have been trying to grouw out gray gracefully for over a year, ended up messing up tryin to get regrowth less brassy and was obsessed with color, so 7/14 i got anpixie! Still have some dyed areas bc my hair super porous so any toning with developer just kept going into the natural color & that orange line kept going up.....so long story short, i NEEDED this vid! It such a test in patience which is not my strong suit!
Vanilla Bonilla hang in their I am a year into dye free hair my hair still has little of the golden brown colour my hair is platinum grey with my black it looks like I have highlights the end result of this is that remaining colour on the ends reminds me that wow what a difference as to healthy hair I have as to the dry straw hair I had
Ranjait Jaswal it def harder than thought would b bc i thought i never cared about my hair...BUT I had enough after seeing couple pics i somehow ended up in (i avoided bc my hair growing out was such a mess) and saw how orang and horrible really looked with skin! The pixie is dramatic but i can c sooo much more of natural color which giving me hope! I dont love or even like my hair right now, but it liberating not HATING it anymore! I also used manic panic on top where i still had the dyed hair (pinkish purple) so the dyed part looks a lot cooler and on purpose instead of mix of yellow/brassy mess! Using things like fenugreek, amla, sulfur from onions and garlic now too and dont have to worry bout them stripping my dyed color! All around this is waaayyy bttr already!!!! Thank u for the encouragement too bc i feel even more empowered!
Yes fenugreek does wonders I soak the seeds overnight and warm the water and rinse my hair after shampoo it leaves a soft tester and my hair is thicker I have baby fine hair keep on doing what you are doing believe ends results be will great the journey is tough stay safe🇨🇦🙏
Boy this went deeper than I ever expected. The topics you touched on really hit home. Thank you for a great thorough video! I’m now excited to start this journey. I’m almost 47. 😊
I just started my journey and it's hard, but you have helped me to see past all my self issues when it comes to my grays. I am going to push through amd not dye my hair. But it is hard because i pride myself in my beautiful black hair. I will keep you posted on my results.
Please do keep me posted! Going gray is not an easy process but it's been soooo worth it for me and so many others. Good luck with your grow out. You've got this!
Thanks for sharing! I’m like you with the very dark hair and could never get highlights or anything done ... I’ve been growing out my grays for about 8 months. I’m the hard transition that looks crazy 😜 I can’t wait for it to continue to grow!!! Again, thanks for sharing! You empowered me 🥰🙏🏼❤️
My hair has been mostly grey since my 20’s. I am mid-50’s. My long, dark hair has always been my thing. I started colouring it myself during lockdown and have continued to do so. But it’s too dark. The thought of sitting for hours getting the colour stripped out, a lighter colour and highlights…. I just can’t do it. It’s two months since I coloured my hair and I’m going to see how it goes. My mum started colouring hers at my age. She had short hair and it always looked fine. Then she had chemo, she lost it all. But when it started to grow it was salt and pepper, really short and it looked beautiful. It was so much better than the red she had and the style. The short, short pixie look was fantastic and my dad loved it. So I’ll take some inspiration from her, too, as she threw the wig out and kept her hair super short.
I am totally brown and grey now. I've just had my last cut and I agree with everything you said. I love what you said about us being an inspiration for women I the future... that has empowered me more. Thank you ❤
I am in tears.
Good for you! You are absolutely correct!
That's not a Friend, a friend says nothing at all, because a friend doesn't judge. Get rid of that negative energy in your life.
Good for you!
Love this!!
It is important !! People said to me " you are too young to go grey"!" But I said " my husband is grey and that doesnt bother anyone!" They now all love it haha.
Exactly men gray and its ok according to who?
I love that comment because it's like APPARENTLY NOT because...it's happening....right now...haha!
@@thenew_knew Haha YES exactly
Love this!!!
Yes girl❣️ Every point you made is true. I’m 20 months in and all grown out and loving it! The beautiful glowing skin, the endless compliments, the HEALTHY, soft hair, the depth in the color variations, the feeling of AUTHENTICITY ...ALL of it!
YES GIRL! It's so true...some of it hard to believe until you actually experience it yourself!
I saw you on a page I think 50 women who've gone grey and your hair is so beautiful!!!
@@nicolemurray3308 what page?… and
THANK YOU❣️❣️❣️
I love this for you!
I just started to let my gray hair grow. This video just answered and confirmed so many doubts and questions that I had. I am also a brunette and I can not thank you enough 🤩
Glad it was helpful!
So true and great job on the grow out! xo
I’m 5 months dye free !!!
I am into 11 months dye free...best decision ever!!!
Happy 5 months! Enjoy it :)
So jealous!! I’m only 2 months in ❤
Yes, came across your video on Google and it was wonderful.
It's such a freeing process!!
❤
I have been dye free for about 5 years. My liver thanks me. Taking daily iodine helps detox the chemicals from makeup & hair dye.
Wow! Happy 5 years :)
Hi, I'm 13 weeks in and feeling fabulous 🙏💜😊
So happy for you Lee! Enjoy it friend ; )
Good luck!
2 years for me! I also teach beauty and aging naturally so it makes sense. I love the support here🙌🏻🍑Lisa Peaches Skin Care

Wow great advice! May I use this info on my channel? 🙌🏻🍑Lisa
Go natural! I know it can be daunting at the beginning but it is so worth it! Gray is beautiful too :)
I think the silver is beautiful!
Me too!
I read it, and thank you. I'm sorry for your loss!
@@energeticsoulhealer888 Thank you so much. 🤗
Thank you for your kind words Joyce. I get it, dying your hair is probably a long term habit that will be hard to break. Good luck with your grow out!
I'm so glad you are finding success Sue! So happy for you!
That's amazing! I love the benefit of getting thicker and shiner hair. SO GOOD!
So glad you are loving your grow-out! xo, Lisa
I love #15! Being authentic in all areas of our lives is a true power. It’s also a sign of self love and self respect.
Thank you for watching! It takes time to practice authenticity but I agree, it can be really life changing.
Every bit true! I’m 61 and stopped the dye in early May this year. So far enjoying this journey 100%! Thank you for this video!
So glad you are having a successful grow out experience Lenore! xo, Lisa
You look so stunning. I can not imagine you in any other hair colour. I've stopped dying 14 months ago and am in that awful stage. I was close to dyeing again but then I saw your hair and I'm back to wanting my natural hair..which is actually lovely. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Kate, take it one day at a time, and just keep going - you've got this! Thank you for being here
Lisa, you are beautiful inside and out and I find your videos so motivational and inspiring. Peace
Hi Elaine! So glad you are having a successful grow out! Thanks for the encouragement and thanks for watching! xo, Lisa
YES - I've heard this from so many others too!
Great video. I'm 18 months into my journey and just got a significant haircut so I'm almost finished my transition. It's the best decision I could have made. I don't have a lot of gray, much less than I expected, but am still really glad to be my true authentic self. Thanks for making encouraging content for us.
I'm so glad Kimberly! So glad you are so close to the end. It feels so good to get that FINAL CUT! xo, Lisa
You look gorgeous with your natural hair!... your hair is gorgeous!!!... I have no support, everyone is saying I look older, and I am only 4.5 months in!!!!..you give me confidence!... thank you so much... great video!!!
Thanks Linda! Have you joined The Gray Book on Facebook yet? So much inspiration, support and community around all things going gray!
Love this for you!
Dear you just give the best expression of why we shouldn't be afraid be gray, but be true to ourselves....,very encouraging , meaningful ,thoughtful 15 min supportive video. It's giving me more confidence in my own transition....
Wish you the best
Thank you for watching Ninel! Best of luck on your grow out! xo, Lisa
It's so true. Going gray makes us better people. I love that you've experienced all 20 too!
I don't wear lipstick and I am pale with red undertones. I'm not ready for this but I love seeing so many success stories. I'm going silver as a natural redhead, not grey. I would like healthier hair. That would be good. I'll jump in when it's my time. Thank you!
Hi friend! YES! And don't do it a minute sooner! Wait until you are ready and you will have a more successful experience. With grace, Lisa
I'm 33 today and have gone one year already with no dye. This has been so hard but already so rewarding. I've been having second thoughts and really need encouragement. In so tired of the up keep. I just have to keep going.
You've got this Jenny! It is so worth it in the end :) xo
So inspiring! I’m going ‘Cold Turkey’ since the beginning of Lockdown. I’ve bought some really nice headbands and I love the silver strands 😘
Thanks for the Video! Sorry for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you thought about - Millawdon Goodbye Gray Trick (do a google search)? Headbands are an awesome idea! Love this ; )
I love this!! I am two years in but Covid really made me stick with it. Just make everything else look great. Your skin and body. I call it my SPARKLE 🙌🏻🍑Lisa

You've got this girl! So happy for you! xo
I Loved every second of this!
Yes girl yes!
LOOOOVING all of these benefits! 👏🏼👏🏼 Am 38 and decided to do this a few months ago. Am noticing everyone’s hair now too when I’m out and about.. So excited to see what my hair can do! 😄
Funny how that happens! Good luck with your grow out!
Jubilance - YES! Good for you!
I'm 2 years and a couple of months into my grey journey. I agree with what you said..especially about compliments very true. I've never had as many compliments on my hair....4 more inches to go...can't wait❤ Thanks for this video!
Thank you! I needed this.
You've got this!
You are such a great motivational speaker! I'm 63 and only 3 months in and you made me feel so good about myself and my decision to go gray! Thankyou!
Thank you for your kind words and thank you for watching Jamie! Happy 3 months!!
Keep going! :)
I love this - yes!! Going gray is such a freeing process. You can do it!
Yes! I get compliments all the times! I also have people who think I got my hair highlighted this way. I saw "No, It's my natural hair color" I went natural about years ago.
I love that!
I needed this I am 13 months in and I cut off my hair and I’m hating my two toned hair right now. I told myself it will be better when it’s longer and I need to wait until it’s all grown out to make a decision but I came so close to calling a salon to dye it today ! Thanks
I'm so glad you held on! Keep going!!
Yesterday, I wrote on my calendar, "Today, I decided to STOP coloring my hair for good!" Today I found your videos :D I'm so excited to simplify my life by going natural gray!
Yay! So happy for you! Enjoy this exciting new step towards loving your natural gray!
This video was absolutely gorgeous, and I'm celebrating all the silver moon haired ladies out there. So glad to be joining this sisterhood after not dyeing my hair once I got pregnant back in 2019.. Here's to natural beauty glowing from the inside out!
Thank you Shaina!
Glad you're enjoying your natural hair - keep going! Xx
Right?!
New subscriber over here👋🏻👋🏻
I decided to start going gray and I’m about a month into the process. Like you I’ve been coloring my hair very dark for years (started going gray at 12!!). I could completely relate to this video. So happy I stumbled upon your channel!!
I'm so happy you are here :) Thanks for watching and you've got this! xo
I started five months ago and I’m so excited for like Christmas when I can probably finish trimming off all the processed bits.
Best Christmas present ever! Enjoy it friend! xo
So pleased for her .her reaction is so moving .her daughter and herself have very special bond
It's time! THANK YOU!!👩🦳🙌🙏
I'm so glad I could help in some way! Keep going! Thanks for watching :)
I’m 63. I’m very salt and pepper. If my hair looks like yours. I will love it. Thank you. Your amazing.
Hi Janie! Did you stop dying your hair or are you still thinking about it?
It will be beautiful! Keep going :)
Gurl....you're glowing in this video 🥰 and I loved every point ...thank you for this wonderful encouraging talk
Hi Monika! Thank you SO MUCH! So glad you are here. xo, Lisa
Love and needed this!!! I am only 5 weeks in but the struggle is real!! seeing your video has helped me to suppress all the negative stuff I’m feeling and now I’m excited to stick with it and excited for the future benefits you stated in your video!!!
You've got this girl! It's all about flipping that script ; )
I would love to see your cool white patch! Sounds beautiful Jacquie!
Your gray hair is gorgeous!!! I love gray/silver hair. It gives that elegant Goddess energy. 👑
I'm so happy for you Susie! It's amazing to hear how your hair is repairing itself after years of damage. Enjoy your healthy hair! xx
How are you getting on? Did you keep the grey? I am at 4 weeks...
@@PaulaFraser-ShawI sure did! It’s beautiful and I love the natural highlights and it’s down to shoulder length now. Best of luck to you 👍
@Susie Kay aww fab. So good to hear. Thankyou for responding
I wanted to hear all 20 and you answered what was going on in my head. Thank you so much! I was afraid of looking less than but this is and always be me; it's just the color of hair for goodness sake!
I'm glad my video could be helpful in some way! Thanks for watching Mary :)
I’m 43 and my journey of transition has begin, so far it’s getting there😊
Yay! I'm exited for you!
4.5 months for me!... no support from anyone!!!!...😂😂😂
@@lindamarocco4583 I support you and everyone else. 🤗👏👏
Patricia Garcia ditto!!!!thank you!!!!
Promise. xo, Lisa
"Role model 💞💛for other women....powerful enough to change the world"
Makeup...shaving...nails....make your own choice for you 🥰
Absolutely! Thanks for watching Amy.
#8 made me cry!! I had no idea I’d get emotional about my hair. I’m researching going gray. 😬 But I’m gaining confidence and want to do this!!!
I know right! When you realize how much your hair means to you, you start being a little kinder to it haha. You've got this! Give it a shot.
Just turned 30 and have decided to embrace my gray.
This was so helpful, thank you!
YAY! You've got this :)
Thanks for watching.
Thank you!
Hi Gina! I'm so happy you are here! Thanks for watching and you've got this girl! xo
everything you’ve said is so inspirational! i decided to go grey
Wow! That sounds awesome! Most people have never tried bright, fun colors so you are already winning! I hope you're enjoying your grow out too. xx
You are so right on ALL 20 reasons!!! I’m 12 weeks dyed free and I’m loving every minute of it. Can’t wait to see my silver mane full grown! 🥰😘
I am so excited for you Irma! Enjoy it :)
I’m just starting this process and I have watched 100 videos, at least. This video is the best video I’ve seen! Totally encouraging. Fantastic!
Awesome! Thank you! xo
Thank you Jaye :)
Quarantine was a perfect time to start your grow out!
This is so exciting Cin! Have fun with your grow out! xo!
Great video! I'm 1 month into going natural. I'm excited about all those 20 positive things to come. You look so beautiful, and so happy. Your natural colors are beautiful. 😀
Thank you Tracey! Happy one month :)
You are so inspiration and it is so reassuring that someone else feels or felt the same. At the beginning of this process. Thank you for being inspirational.
Thanks for watching Vicky!
Vanilla Bonilla how do you use the fenugreek seeds?... thank you!... how has it helped your hair?
Ranjait Jaswal what do you think the fenugreek fills in hair and makes it thicker?... I want to try it!... thank you!
Boy this went deeper than I ever expected. The topics you touched on really hit home. Thank you for a great thorough video! I’m now excited to start this journey. I’m almost 47. 😊
So glad you found it helpful!
Off the charts cuteness with braids 😂 Looking forward to it! 🤍🖤
What a great video!
I am 5 months into my transition. Thank you! 😀
So excited for you Sherry!
Thanks for the reminders of this choice, I'm just over 10 months in and today was one of those days when I felt bad.
keep going! you've got this!
Great video, thank you! I agree - grey hair does not necessarily make one look older. It is the unsuitable hairdo that does.
Thanks for watching Iwona!
Thanks for sharing! I’m like you with the very dark hair and could never get highlights or anything done ... I’ve been growing out my grays for about 8 months. I’m the hard transition that looks crazy 😜 I can’t wait for it to continue to grow!!! Again, thanks for sharing! You empowered me 🥰🙏🏼❤️
Thank you for watching Jen! I'm sure your looking "crazy" stage is over by now. Keep going and enjoy it!! x
Totally agree with all of these! I’m only 5 1/2 months in but I have already seen all the benefits that you mentioned.
That's awesome Julieanna! You are ahead of the curve. Love that you are finding success!
Thank you ❤
Thanks for sharing that - I appreciate it!
