Sad because the experiences shared here are repeated often in my journey and Black Catholics in the Americas. Hopeful because by challenging the sin of racism within the Church and society we can make changes needed to eventually live as one people. May God’s blessings be upon you continually. @@tony1685 I’m VERY happy to belong to the Catholic faith. Racism exists in our society, in our world. So sad you wrongly call Catholicism evil, yet applaud the Bible. My dad was the first black priest in Albany New York (the capital) in 1946. He was also only the 19th black Catholic priest in the whole USA. Unfortunately, he left due to racism. It still was quite an accomplishment. I had a rich Catholic upbringing. But no one in my parishes ever looked like our family. Yet, we knew the names of all the Black saints. We had a statue of St. Martin de Porres in our living room! I’m 62 now and not much has changed as far as who is in the parish; except I lead and am proud. Amen

@@tony1685 Ah, your "study and teaching of God's Word" seems to have led you down a path away from the One True Church, established by Christ Jesus of Nazareth Himself, and preserved by the apostolic succession. The Bible isn't Catholic, you say? Interesting. The canon of the New Testament, the very collection of books you're teaching from, was determined by the early Catholic Church. The Bible you hold is a product of the same "nonsense" you criticize. As for missing verses, it's not about the number of verses but the message they convey, and the Catholic Bible includes the complete canon recognized by early Christians.
You reference 1 Timothy 3:15. Indeed, it speaks of the Church as "The pillar and foundation of the truth." -- This is a key point, the Catholic Church has preserved and upheld the truth, just as this verse indicates. The Church is not a man-made institution, but a divinely established one, the House built on the Rock (Saint Peter), and as for John 14:15? "If you love me, keep my commands." Absolutely, and the Catholic Church has consistently taught the commands of Christ for centuries, with an unbroken apostolic succession dating back to the very Apostles you mention.
In 1 John 2:19, we find a warning about those who leave the Sacred Fold. But, hey, we hope you find truth and “salvation” wherever you are on your journey. Just remember, no matter how much you resist, the Body of Christ remains the gateway to the Kingdom of Heaven. God bless you

I want to thank you so much for creating this video. I’m a Black American with immigrant parents from Togo- my mother raised Catholic and my dad Presbyterian. Though I was baptized Presbyterian at a young age throughout my life, my family attended many different denominations of churches as I grew up - my dad an elder of a Presbyterian Church even speaking at non-denominational/charismatic churches with large African populations in America. My girlfriend is Catholic and I’ve been so amazed and inspired by her faith that I’ve begun to learn about the beauty of the Eucharist and the sacraments and finding intimacy with God within the Catholic Church but this idea of there being such a scarcity of Black Catholics within America has been the only real concern for me, until I recently discovered the rich history of Black Catholics in America and their beautiful contributions to the Church that Jesus Christ himself built upon Peter. Thanks again for this and please pray for me as I continue to seek God and consider a Christian home within the Catholic Church :)

If only people would realise that The Catholic Church was deeply rooted in parts of Africa, well before Europe. Some of The Early Church Fathers,St. Augustine, St Monica etc were all African. The Ethiopian convert in the Bible is one of the first recorded Christians, The Lalibela underground Churches of Ethiopia pre-date most European ones. The Catholic Church has always been diverse from the beginning, reflecting all God’s people. Let us remember that we are in the Church for Christ, not it’s members.. many of whom are deeply flawed. But knowing Catholic history is important, so that we black people don’t get deceived into thinking Catholicism is solely white and not for us. Catholicism is the only faith I know, on earth, that has saints of every race! We are truly universal.
Well done to The Diocese of Westminster for this video.

Also awarded new skills in England, and graduated in Obstetrics Nursing, Hygiene and Tropocal Medicine University of Liverpool School of Medicine & Occupational Health Nursing - University of Ipswich and Suffolk. For over 50 years, she worked as a nurse, surgery practice nurse, occupational therapist at the majority of London NHS and private hospitals, various surgeries, district and companies. Outside the medical field she studied Theology at Zion College of Theology. I attended her Requiem Mass at Our Lady & St Peter's Church London S.W.19 She had an international ministry and served on Maurice Cerullo's team in USA. Her son Pastor Andre was a down's syndrome baby. He will pastor at Healing Faith Ministries a foundation started by Juliette. He is under 35 years in age so ministers at GDM for the moment. He joined his mother on the Maurice Cerullo Teams. The most outstanding Catholic woman I have had the pleasure to meet and befriend. Sadly in the Catholic church she was known as Mrs Juliette Olakotan where she kept a very low profile. I am a Catholic adult, I do remember once going to a Reconciliation with a black Priest the first time after that black Priest became my common around me. But I had a first experience, it was the Sacrement of confession, there nothing dramatic about that. It was a normal confession of weaknesses. Oh yeah, I am white. My parish was many black people, mainly from Africa and the Caribbean, rather from black Americans due to historically issues. Most of the black Americans I have met are Protestants. I assume most parishes in Florida are similar. Although it varies around the country, I am aware that New Orleans has more significant African Americans Catholic’s. And I did encounter black Catholic’s in South Carolina due to a parish experience of an Irish immigrant parish in 19th century who were welcomed in church there, but the other folk in protestant church were hostile about this and harassed them. It turns out the numbers of black people descended from those people are still Catholic in part of South Carolina.

Years back we have an African priest in our parish. Filipinos pay respect to elders and priests. By taking the hand (backhand) and tap it lightly in our foreheads for blessing. He hates the custom and even mention it with his homily. I guess he haven't been long in Philippines. So he's excuse.

Black but British. Contribution to the life of the whole Christian church. I attended the following school in the mid-2000s. School run by Mrs Rev. N J Sterling NTA - Institute of Theology and Christian Counselling associate partner of the University of Roehampton. If it were not for the martyrdom of George Floyd none of you the readers would know how much black people matter.

@BrewCity Thank you very much for your contribution. The martyrdom actually caught your eye and you responded. It is the only response so far. I give you links to show you that although George Floyd was a sinner he did turn to God but Satan battled for his life. www.premierchristianity.com/Blog/The-Christian-faith-of-George-Floyd

@BrewCity St Bernadette was French and white. You have been looking at the physical side of mankind regarding a tougher life. This is good but even better you recognise that George Floyd and you have had an ancestry from Satan's domain hence every chance of being under a curse and even spells and possessed and oppressed by evil spirits. My ancestry was exactly this (despite the fact that my ancestry goes back to India) and the Holy Spirit has given black people, an anointing to deliver the likes of you and me from all this baggage and transform us into saints. You still have a chance of sanctification so reach our to Bishop Charlie Berrian an Afro-American Pentecostal former Catholic who can help you. Black churches are anointed and equipped with a higher anointing for deliverance ministry. We have suffered much. Some of us through no fault of our own but the sins of our ancestors.

@BrewCity Thanks. You are very knowledgeable. I am Catholic Evangelical. I will never leave the Catholic church. My family were Catholic since the 16th century because the Portuguese took Catholicism to Goa hence my religion and name. In Summer 1986 I had the release of the Holy Spirit during the lunch break when a Jamacian pastor, my colleague, prayed with me and we fellowshiped every day. I received the gift of tongues which is the Heavenly language. I was a very good Catholic brought up in a very good Catholic family. But sadly I noticed many things going wrong in my whole extended family e.g. extra marital affairs, children born out of wedlock, divorce, singleness, illegitimate children, alcholism, disunity, family scattered throughout the world after moving from country to country. The Catholic Charismatic Renewal has born again Catholics who are in the healing and deliverance ministry. But as we live in Europe the Indian Catholic Ministry had not arrived in England until recently. As I said before Asian and Black Ministries have a higher anointing for deliverance because we have very evil ancestors who worshipped false gods i.e. Buddhism and Hinduism. My family lived in Africa for three generations so I know that sadly vodoo, occult, witchcraft worship of ancestors is rife and is the cause of problems in black families. The Holy Spirit who is given to us at Baptism, and Confirmation is released upon attending the Alpha course or Life in the Spirit Seminars. For me it was different because I used to attend Prayer Groups and was ready when the Pentecostal Pastor prayed for the release of the Holy Spirit at work. We are on a faith journey. Anglican Evangelicals, Pentecostals and Catholic priests from India in CCR as well as lay people in England have assisted me on this journey. Have you heard of Damian Stayne? He is a mighty man of God with a wife and family and he has a mighty international ministry. He is English and white like my grandnieces. Maybe you can get in touch with him. I mentioned Bishop Prophet Charlie Berrian because he runs a school of prophets and I am a prophetess called to be a pastor. The Catholic church is a little behind the Pentecostals and so earlier generations of Catholics left the Catholic church and many are bitter that they could not get help from Catholics. Keep to the doctrine and teaching of the Catholic church as it is very sound. But there is much more! Get in touch with Co Lumen Christi where Damian minister online. You will learn to pray to God the Father, through the Holy Spirit in Jesus name. Continue to pray to St Bernadette too! My favourite saint is St Dominic Savio through his intercession many of my friends who could not have children did so and now are grandmothers. My mother had a vision of St Teresa of Liseuix and an angel when she was in hospital in 2014 as she was alone in hospital after a heart attack and the Heavenly beings came to visit to give her peace! She went to Heaven on 8 January 2018. This is our destiny!
You have pointed out that George Floyd and yourself came from impoverished neighbourhood and families just as St Bernadette. Although my maternal grandfather was middle class he loved alcohol more than the average person. Fortunately, he provided for his family and they had a good education and were successful. I took solice that St Bernadette's father was an alcoholic and accepted the shame of alcoholism in my forebears. I would like to add that the curse upon a family is seen in every class and race. My paternal grandfather was the Portuguese Ambassador until his demise. Like my parents I was educated at elite Catholic schools. I went to school with children from the Sultan's palace. So it was a shock when the Holy Spirit revealed that my family were under a curse because of worship of false gods. In England we lived in an elite neighbourhood. Queen Elisabeth II has had problems in her family because her father was a drug addict. Her ancestors were Freemasons. This is an invisible cult. Most of her children suffered broken marriages. Princess Margaret was a drug addict and promiscuous. Prince Andrew kept bad company. In order to stop this the Queen has seen Ministers of Healing and Deliverance. Let us hope that Prince William will follow her example and be a righteous King. That they will all be blessed and that our land will be prosperous. England is Our Lady's dowry. St Margarets of Scotland where I attend Mass is named after a Queen. So the royals have had their problems but repent and turn to God. How I wish they would attend deliverance. They may not know that they need to be delivered from ancestral sins, transgression and iniquity too for all problems to cease.

@BrewCity Thanks for pointing out my mistake. Please accept my apologies for my interpretation of your class background. By "the Catholic church is a little behind the Pentecostals I meant spiritually and not financially." 1906
Pentecostal Churches expansion, however, resulted from the Azusa Street revival that began in 1906 at the Apostolic Faith Gospel Mission at 312 Azusa Street in Los Angeles.
While the Holy Spirit revival among Catholics began during Fr. McAnulty's time as president that Duquesne University (600 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15282, Pennsylvania, United States) played an important role in the shaping of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, which has its roots in a retreat of several faculty members and students held in February 1967.
I hope you will try and join Damian Stayne cor et lumen christi youtube. He leads Prayer and Praise and ministers to us in the power of the Holy Spirit. With prayer as you journey forward in faith.

      @BrewCity John 14:5-14
      New International Version
Jesus the Way to the Father
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know[a] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Through the Baptism of the Holy Spirit Jesus becomes alive, the Mass and worship becomes alive. Jesus is the Word of God and He speaks to us through it. As well as through men and women of God. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as you journey forward. It was very good to have met you. You have your whole life ahead. God Bless
      N.B
You say that the Catholic church is divided. This is true. We are human and we are all on a faith journey. Some have not met Jesus who is alive yet. They do not have a living relationship yet. Even when they are born again in the Catholic Charismatic Movement we are at different stages of this faith journey and at different levels of intimacy with Jesus and spirituality. The Catholic Church is an institution and more in the flesh than the Holy Spirit. Even after the Baptism of the Holy Spirit one needs to persevere and undergo deliverance then be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. This is the Kingdom of Heaven on earth where Heaven comes down to earth. The Kingdom is within you, the Kingdom is in the here and now and the Kingdom is to come. I have had to keep fellowship of Christians at my spiritual level otherwise one can backslide and pulled down as many are still caught up in the world. Also within the Kingdom of Heaven on earth there are people who interpret the bible in several ways some who give it a meaning to suit their way of life and needs. For this reason Catholic doctrine is sound. Refer to the Catholic Catechism whenever in doubt. Also this site is very good as we all encourage each other on this journey. Ours was not a chance meeting. It was God ordained. We are also in the River of Life. Some ankle deep, some knee deep, some waist deep, some neck deep and others are swimming. Hence we are different shades within the Renewal. See: www.google.com/search?q=the+river+of+life+bible&oq=The+river+of+life&aqs=chrome.4.0j46j0l6.8542j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Rascism is just a mentality, a poor one at that. I have never experienced it in the church here or Italy. Sorry black people are not special needs... Anymore. I love living here, I'm free, we don't live in a tolerant we live in an inclusive society. Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland. I've not had a days worth of intolerance. Sweet Jesus is the way.
