Julia Greeley is the first person buried in Denver's Cathedral. We now have a home for homeless women named after her, where the women live while learning spiritual, financial, and practical skills for rebuilding their lives. I pray for Julia's intercession every night and hope to see her canonized.

@@coconutpower4992 It's okay to acknowledge that many Black people in the U.S. (including in the Church) have different experiences of the Church than White people. Of course God doesn't care how we look, but He does acknowledge our realities and meets us where we are.
@@tc5922 My family is from a country where Christians are a minority and yet we had many nuns and priests on both sides of my family. People judge people. The Church values every person as a child of God. How many times did we hear that these men and women were sent to Rome,or out of the country, to be educated in our faith, because American law and attitudes persecuted them? They briefly mentioned the Healy family but a book can be written about them. Such a devout family. Some of the children of darker skin were sent to Canada to be educated. The Church is far from perfect. We have our issues but we strive to live our faith.

I'm Latina and grew up going to Spanish Mass in the basement of our church space. Our community along with a wonderful Paulist priest, Fr. Joachim Lally, CSP, renovated the space beautifully. Our community thrived and became larger so we were finally moved around the year 2005+ upstairs to the 'main' physical church space. The archdiocese renovated the basement church space and once more, we were moved to the basement. Once the upstairs church space was renovated in 2018, we were able to move back upstairs. The pastor was happy and proud of the renovations and when he asked me what I thought, I stated, it's beautiful but will soon be just an empty space. I didn't realize that not only were there fewer parishoners due to their leaving our parish but also, COVID-19 hit - now the newly renovated Cathedral sits empty😔😥🙏🌹 My daughter's Confirmation saint is St. Bahkita and my mom's favorite male saint was St. Martin de Porres. Pax Cristi!

I hear you and appreciate your sentiments, but hopefully one day black history month won’t exist. Black history should instead be taught year round along the rest of American history

They are not trying to create division, but to show the universality of the Church and how the Church is for all. Your gripe would be more appropriate with others in the culture, but not here.

Yes ofc. But a lot of people say that Christianity is "the white man's religion" and y we practice a religion that was forced onto us. The Catholic church is universal and for all, and people need to realise that. We choose to be Christians/Catholics

But oftentimes, people believe the stereotype that Catholicism is a white man’s religion. I’m a white Catholic man and I’m well aware that we are a highly diverse church that encompasses many different races.

Yeah in February we dont do black history month we do black saints because of the sjw take over and dumbing down of history but my favorite saint is Bl. Benedict Daswa, there is a video on yt with his family talking about him, he was a very holy and brave man!
How are African Americans celebrating their history an SJW thing? Acknowledging African American history is dumbing down history?
It's not an SJW thing. Also, Catholic Black history is extremely valuable. Many Black Catholics in America experience the feeling that they don't belong. Most of the time every saint and statue they see is white. Most depictions of Jesus are white (and he was not purely white). I know it may sound like social justice, but it's true Catholic justice to show Black Americans that they have a place in the Church.
As a black guy, I think it's mostly SJW like you said.
We don't have white history month for example, and even when you look at how people vote the white people are most variable because no one tries to race bait them.
I think we should bring attention to black saints but not *as* black saints, just call them saints period.
Have a lot of saints, some white, some Asian, some black, etc and don't make a big deal of it.
Like for example St. Moses the Black is widely venerated without people being like "finally a black saint" and it's ironic seeing his name.
I teach this to my 10 year old sister too, to not see herself as "I'm a black girl" but just "I'm a girl" and even better "I'm a daughter of God".
You don't see white people reminding their children of their race all the time, doing these victimhood festivities (although recently SJWs try to push for white shaming).
I think there is a place for historical days and remembering the past but on this point in particular I think we're clearly off base and should emphasize our unity and not our past conflicts.
We're Catholics first, ethnicity comes secondly, all the saints I venerate on a habitual basis are white and you shouldn't have a problem with that because you should choose saints based on their likeness to your soul not their likeness to your skin.
I HATE Secular Black History Month but Catholic Black History Month would be Great!

I'm an ethnic minority immigrant who's travelled to many countries in my life and had often dealt with racism day to day, but the singular place of perfect solitude was in the Catholic Church and amongst Catholic homes where we shared a Universal Faith. So I'm both deeply saddened and shocked to hear that.
@Padjoe O ceal it was a Catholic church in New Orleans. This took place maybe around 75 years ago.

This was a rather not so good show, trying to bring race issues into church as if it really matters...black catholic , month of February ...black history month...that's all wrong and sounds woke...stop the pandering we blacks don't need it...thanx for the show though
I don’t think they are trying to be “woke” or pandering at all. They’re just treating it like any other subject within the faith. I found this to be one of the most interesting shows they’ve done. Probably my top 3. Before this, I had no idea there were this many black Catholics, tbh. Great show guys. Thank you 🙏
This was such a woke show, not soo good at all...slavery runs back through times it's even in the Bible...am just tired of people esp blacks today in America trying to blame slavery for all the issues or problems they are currently facing...that can't help us as a people at all...sorry guys I just didn't find this show very good because of it trying to be woke...
How was this trying to be woke? They had on a Black guest and talked about Black saints in Black History Month...it just seems appropriate

My favorite black saint is Saint Martin de Pores.
It's exciting to me being from the area right between Quincy Illinois and Hannibal Missouri to hear these stories of the great Catholics from this area. We're all on alert for Bl. Fulton Sheen and pray to St Crescent during tornado season, but now I'm learning about the lesser known powerhouses of our faith in this area and it makes me very proud.
I think black community with support of local bishop have to inisiate build a statue of black saint and write the history about pertaining saint.... And start a devotion to this saint..
There is a novena to Venerable Augustus Tolton so it’s a good start.
I pray that we will see Fr. Augustus Tolton very soon on our altars. For this I pray.
I’m cheering for Venerable Augustus Tolton to be canonized first, partly because he was born in my home state. I also have read a biography about him and he truly did live a holy life.
There is slavery in China today also.
So many also in sex slavery, including children in our times. Bakhita is the patron of victims of human trafficking. Abortion is another industry inbolved in human trafficking. Millions every year.
I read about Tolton. Very impressive. God's our Father. I like this video. Rejecred, just as was Christ, just as repentant souls have been. God knows the heart. Remember that. HE can't be fooled!
