I've been having issues with my 2000 Silverado cluster. When I turn the truck off, take the key out, open and shut the door, once the dome light goes out, the high beam indicator and cruise control indicator both light up on the cluster and stay lit. It drains the battery. Also the D on the gear select is dimly lit, just barely able to make it out when it's dark. Even if I take the key out and leave the door open, the lights will still come on. Everything on the cluster works fine and normal. I've sent the cluster out for refurbishment, still does it. I don't know if it's the cluster or something else shorting out waking the cluster up. I've replaced the multifunction switch with factory new, still does it. Next I will put a refurbished BCM in. Maybe it's bad?? Idk. Do you know what circumstance would cause these lights to come on and drain the battery? Radio off, security light off, just what I stated above. I'm lost with this one, I have to remove and install the radio fuse everytime I park and drive the truck.
Did the place you sent the cluster to give you any useful troubleshooting or test result information? Did you install a new ground wire yet? Has any after market wiring been done to the truck? Like keyless entries, remote start or stereo system?

The boot up test sequence is triggered when the cluster's powered up. That is when it runs through all of the warning indicators. Usually this is caused by interment power, possibly bad ground. The gas gauge pointing straight down could be from a bad sending unit for wiring.

Does your instrument cluster have an electronic odometer or a mechanical odometer?
@@jeffescortlx mechanical
@@JG-vo2yuI don't have any mechanical style Chevy instrument clusters with me right now. But if you just shine a bright light at your cluster you'll see where the check engine symbol is located.
@@jeffescortlx Thank you.
Is there a schematic available for these clusters?
Nope.
@jeffescortlx - Have you ever seen an 03 Gm Dash cluster cause inconsistent left turn signal?
No, the cluster doesn't control the blinkers. It's simply just an indicator to show you when there's power in the blinker circuit
I find it very instructive. How can I send you the dash unit. I have 05 GMC Sierra with the common problem the shifter Indicator light or display does not work. Where can I find you? How can I contact you? Thanks

GMC 2001 Yukon XL, Cluster light ABS Light and Brake Lights always stuck on and intermittent fade on the Odometer/PRND321 display. Reset the Fuse for ignition and for now the Odometer light is working without issue. The other two lights. Board issue or actually system issue that needs further investigation?
Your ABS/Brake light are probably on because your ABS module is bad. Common problem.
Hace you seen the trip counter not work not count the miles used?
What is the year/make/model of vehicle that this cluster is out of?

@@BowtieClusters if the mile per hour and odometer are working correctly I would probably start by trying a different eerom.
Ive got an 03 Yukon, the cluster acts the same as this does with a bad ground, would that also be an instance of a bad ground or an internal problem with the cluster?
Intermittent power on 2003 and newer is a cluster PCB issue and not the grounding problem like 03 and older.
Jeff, where did you get the cluster harness?
Either a junk yard, or some come with a pigtail when you buy a used cluster from eBay.
Do you have a video or reference guide to how to wire up the connector to bench test the cluster? I am trying to figure out what wire I need to connect to turn the cluster on with out using the vehicle power

Hi I have a 2002 Chevy silverado I replaced the cluster and it won't show mpr, rpms, or Andy displays besides the engine service soon when I turn the ignition key
Did the original one work better?
@@jeffescortlx no they both work the same and I installed a new ground wire
@@intovr2229you might be missing one of the power wires. Could just be a blown fuse. This cluster relies on multiple ignition circuits, not all of them are labeled in the fuse box as being for the instrument cluster. So it's best to just check all of the fuses, both under the hood and under the dashboard.

What voltage is a9 supposed to be?
I need help I have 3 clusters and I used to power them with a 12v car battery and the wiring was all over the place and I think it fried the board bc now when I plug it into a truck only the velocímeter and the rpms read and the gas light is always on the other guages don’t even move
It will be hard for me to troubleshoot over the internet.
Could you do a cluster from a 2005-2009 Pontiac Montana SV6? I know it controls the clicking sound for the signal lights. Mine is not working. I would love to know how to fix it. What chip is wrong?
Sorry I don't have that model here.
I have an 02 avalanche, the fuel gauge and coolant gauge ONLY WORK when I step on the brake. what exactly is going on?
I don't know. Brake light isn't wired into the cluster. Maybe you have a bad ground.
@@jeffescortlx No test info or troubleshooting from them. Haven't done the ground yet but definitely will. No aftermarket keyless entry or remote start.
I do have and aftermarket radio, but it turns off correctly when I open the door and doesn't turn on until I turn the key on. I also unplugged it completely with no change to the lights on the cluster.
I also have an amplifier and subs, but the amp turns off correctly when I turn the key off.
@@jonathanst89 did you explain the issue the cluster was having to the place you sent the cluster to?
@@jeffescortlx yeah, Originally I had put in an order for a refurbished cluster on Amazon but he couldn't get the mileage set right and said I could just send mine in to be refurbished, that's when I brought up the issue. they said they have never heard that issue before. that was that, it was still cheaper than buying another unit so I did it.
I have a chevy tahoe I'm looking to have my speedometer redone some lights are out how long is the wait to have it all done

I changed my back lights to LED. And now my fuel gauge is stuck on E with low fuel warning on. Gear selection highlighter not working.
But the passenger seatbelt, abs, Battery indicator, security light won’t go away.
I undid the harness made sure I didn’t bend any of the prongs. But no change.
Maybe I damaged the harness?

Blown fuse I suppose.
Would it work if I put an 02 Escalade cluster on a 03 Yukon please let me know or what I can do thanks
No. The 99-02 are not compatible with 03-06.
What if my gas gauge is pointed straight down and it goes on/ off while driving then throws battery and security light. Also oil is a bit shaky
The boot up test sequence is triggered when the cluster's powered up. That is when it runs through all of the warning indicators. Usually this is caused by interment power, possibly bad ground. The gas gauge pointing straight down could be from a bad sending unit for wiring.
I pushed my gas needle up with a zip tie now it works fine but cluster still does the reboot sequence as you mentioned but only when I have my wipers and the lights turned on or when I use my blinker and have my radio on
