    The racquet that has the modified grommets will have the following issue. When the ball leaves the strings, the strings are still vibrating because of the amount of space that is built into the grommet. The extra vibration duration causes the vibration to travel through the frame, causing the weird "tinny" sound that your hearing.
    The racquet that has the smaller grommets will actually act like a dampening device and prevent the string from vibrating as long as the other one, therefore preventing the vibrations to travel through the frame and making the annoying clinking sound.

      When you say modified, do you mean because I have weight underneath or do you mean the grommets with the design of having more space at the opening for the mains? Because the latter wouldn't be a modification, right? It's how that one comes stock.

      @@ZeroLoveTennis the oval shaped grommets. I say that because they are an exception to the standard grommet.

      @@ZeroLoveTennis Babolat modified the grommet from the norm. Modified simply means changed from the standard.

      I see. Head did the same but on a different axis. I also feel like the same effect would happen from just having a big grommet, which you see on a ton of rackets.
      You are probably right and I was thinking a similar thing, the smaller grommet would dampen the string right at the edge just before it sends shock to the frame and you'd think the throat holes would be the most noticable.
      Still, something feels tinny beyond that but it could all be from that!

      @@ZeroLoveTennis yeah, you’re right though. It could be the lay-up of graphite. I remember when Head first moved to the Graphene models. Their frames had that same weird pinging sound. Annoyed the shit outta me and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to quiet it. A little silicone helps, but beyond that, no idea.

    Comparison with Pure Strike VS would be great! The string spacing also looks bigger..

    I'd be pretty certain the Alcaraz halo effect is pushing up prices of the Aero VS.

    • @ZeroLoveTennis
      @ZeroLoveTennis  11 місяців тому

      It might be! It's also just hard to come by so the rarity might be doing that. But I'm not really interested in it anymore. I think the PA98 is better and as far as we can all tell, it looks like Alcaraz might actually be using the PA98. I've looked very closely at the previous and current rackets, looks like he used to be a VS guy and is now a PA98 guy.
      So anyone getting a VS for the Alcaraz hype should really be getting the PA98.

    I would concede that the 98 is probably more "buttery" feeling than the VS. If it weren't for the arm problems it caused I would probably still be using it.

      @@ZeroLoveTennis Thanks. Luckily, the arm problems healed up pretty fast. But I had to retire the PA98 after a week even though I played really well with it. Luckily, it doesn't seem to be causing other people problems. So it seems to just be one of those little quirky individual reactions like being allergic to nuts.

    Putting a rubber band on the main like Agassi should take out the tin sound and I play to use power pads in the main of natural gut to stabilize the center which enhances slice shots and adds a couple grams. The cross I will use restring zero in blue

    • @ZeroLoveTennis
      @ZeroLoveTennis  11 місяців тому

      I might try something like power pads one day. I like the look of a dampener in the stringbed but I mostly use it as a silencer. But the band weighs very little and that can be nice.

    What are the specifications of your VS? Did you customize it with lead or weight in the handle?

    • @ZeroLoveTennis
      @ZeroLoveTennis  10 місяців тому

      Lead all over but not a ton. General 12 3/9 area but it's pretty spread out. Increased SW by about 13 units I think. Some in handle and or other weight in the handle.
      It's also extended about 1/4"

    Hey time410s, I'm a big fan of extended length rackets and I think you are to, just saw a review of the new Solinco Blackout 315 28 inch frame on another channel and this thing looks like a beast and apparently its a prostock as well with great pocketing ability. Have you heard about it yet, I don't think TW even has it yet, but it could make for a great playtest!

    • @ZeroLoveTennis
      @ZeroLoveTennis  11 місяців тому

      Haha I used to be! But I have talked a few times, although maybe didn't make a dedicated video to the topic, about how the main issue is how much weight is taken out to make the length managable and how that punishes things like stability. So you end up with a racket that still has a high swingweight but only from length, not weight. You notice this especially on volleys when the racket's mass is not moving and all that leverage works against you and the racket for any stability on volleys or any slower shots.
      I like the idea of them a lot. I didn't like the reality.
      That being said...I might have to give that one a go. I just sold my SW 102 and Blade 104 because I pretty much gave up on the idea of an XL racket after trying for so long.

      @@ZeroLoveTennis It does have the 40T Carbon Fiber at 3/9 o'clock, resulting in a larger sweetspot along with a more solid and responsive feel on off-center impact, so it may be stable enough without having to lead it up and the 3 and 9 spots!

    • @ZeroLoveTennis
      @ZeroLoveTennis  11 місяців тому

      True. It's average SW is also just higher, so that's a factor but as I said, weighted up to match TW and SW, it still felt tinny.

    No idea what a melee game is but fascinated to learn more about how it relates to tennis

    • @ZeroLoveTennis
      @ZeroLoveTennis  11 місяців тому

      Haha ever hear of Super Smash Brothers for the Nintendo Gamecube? It was one of the most popular Nintendo game series. I'll get into it someday but it's generally 1v1, although it can be doubles. Games are played in set formats and it's extremely techincal and very fast paced. Very easy to suicide in the game kind of like how it's very easy to hit a ball out or in the net or miss it. Similarly difficult games with similar skill ceilings where a tiny mistake means death but playing great is one of the best feelings. Playstyle and ability really shows in the game as well.

      @@ZeroLoveTennis Would you say the skills obtained playing this style of game would be transferable to tennis, to the point that we should encourage juniors and adult learners to play the game to develop the mental skillset?

    • @ZeroLoveTennis
      @ZeroLoveTennis  11 місяців тому +1

      Not physically as much (for reaction time, it definitely can) and other mentality based things.
      It's a big time investment to get good at Melee. You should just play tennis if you want to get good at tennis. I happen to play both. But a large chunk of the Melee players have read books like "the inner game of tennis" and I just think it's cool that two completely different things can be so similar and that one side of the community actually appreciates tennis despite many within it not playing. It's interesting and unusual.
      That all being said, it's the only other game I play. I don't think videogames in general are a great use of time so I focus much more on tennis but I was very into it and and still watch.

      My buddy is a ROB main and he's a tennis player too hahaha. I'm salty about the Fox nerfs in the current P+ whilst simultanously making all the other characters better. It feels unjust but also a weird adjustment to make. I also feel Melee is a little smoother mechanically still. There's a fluidity to it that just isn't quite there in PM and so on but they are very close!
