    I was affected by recall, returned mine for store credit. I called around to some local power equipment shops and they had some that were repaired and ready to be sold. I picked one up and I can definitely say the machine is much easier to start than before. Glad I ended up with Honda mower, cut on my lawn looks great and mulching capabilities are awesome, feeding nutrients back into the lawn. Thanks Honda for standing behind your product.

    I purchased a HRX 217K6-HZA in July. The 3rd use and this cam issue occurred. I took it to my dealer and it was repaired in 5 days for free. Has worked flawlessly since. The entire mower is not the problem. The problem is that the decompression valve was not molded/cooled properly. Fantastic mower and im glad i opted for the fix instead of return.

    I have an HRN216 purchased in 2020. Has always started like crap, my 20 yr old Toro is a 1 to 2 pull starter even after sitting over the winter. I only run ethanol free fuel and change the oil every year. Unfortunately my Honda isn’t covered in this recall. I’d gladly give it back and get another TORO

    Thanks! My HRX217 Is under the recall so I'll be making my call tomorrow. I have been lucky and my mower has not exhibited the problem yet (4 months old, used twice a week). So I hope they will let me "get in line" but allow me continue to use the mower until they are actually ready to do the work.

      No problem! Thanks for watching! Hopefully, they will allow you to “get in line” and keep the unit they are ready to repair it. I don’t see why they wouldn’t, especially if they have your serial number on file. It’s probably up to the repairing dealer as to how they choose to handle it.

    • @MrLuigi-oi7gm
      @MrLuigi-oi7gm 11 місяців тому

      @@averagejoevideo9556 UPDATE: I called the Honda dealer. He seemed unaware there was a recall or even a problem with these units. But he was not a service technician, so 🤷. Anyway, he said I could not "get in line" as the technicians want the mower there immediately when they're ready to work on the unit. They don't even like to wait 30 minutes for the customer to deliver the unit. So I would have to drop the mower off and he said it would probably take weeks to get to it. I interpreted that to mean it could be up to a month. Since my mower (fingers crossed) still works I'm going to continue to use it and pray it doesn't break. Then I'll bring it in to be repaired after the mowing season is over. Hopefully, your other viewers can get quicker service then I was promised!

    Thank you For updating us on this Honda issue. I want to share my thoughts and my experiencing that I'm having. I did get recalled repaired but I don't know if the valves has been adjusted and how would I know? I'm not a technician that's questionable second thing is that I've noticed with gas line valve in the off position I was able to run my mower for five days and noticed that it's possibly defective. Also I'm also noticing with the valve on of course it has encounter an idle issues, revving up and down possibly carburettor issue or something else with the recall Repair that's causing this issue. I've only had mines for about nine months. It's kept in the garage and clean no debris in the filter.etc I think Honda should've been changing out these lawnmowers or refunding the customers that are affected by these models that encounter too many issues

    Bought my 216 in April, started it at least 70 times with no problems at all. The recall lists my frame S/N BUT the engine S/N isnt on the recall list. Like others, how do they really know if my unit is bad? I dont want to wait all winter to find out. Of course I didnt buy it from a dealer (Lowes), so it will be at the back of the repair line.

    You make a great effort. Very informative, helpful.
    The problem is with the HRX217 at least, the dreadful. fraudulent plastic NEXITE deck. These are degenerative and end up fracturing under 10 years rendering the alleged premium machine useless, dangerous and with no choice but to purchase another Nexite deck from Honda and rebuild the machine yourself. It happened to me last year with my 9 year old 2013 machine,
    It's happened to many others.
    Where's the recall for that degenerative material Nexite deck?? Where??
    That sealed with me, how fraudulent low end, consumer over-priced Honda mowers are. Screw the myth of Honda. Buy a Scag or Toro. You will actually get 25 years of service from them with NO BROKEN DECKS. When the hell has that ever happened to you?

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  9 місяців тому

      I have never had an issue with the Nexite deck, however my unit is still quite new. With that being said, I wonder if the deck issues are related to weathering and sun exposure. Obviously, I am not making excuses because a mower deck should be able to handle the elements, but I noticed most people experiencing problems have decks that are dramatically faded and worn. Possibly, this is just from everyday use.

    • @briankelley617
      @briankelley617 9 місяців тому

      Thanks. It is in fact from normal, everyday use. Use for which it most certainly should withstand the stresses of “elements and loads” shall we say, characteristic of a lawn mower, and does- for a limited time. Far, far too limited.
      I am familiar with what you are describing- faded, scaly discolorations and “spider webs” in the plastic, hairline cracks starting in many places. It almost resembles chemical degeneration in spots in the plastic compound. Is it from cumulative small gas spills filling? Oil? Sun and elements? Should any of that matter and be called “outside influences” and except Honda from coverage liability? Do we go lenient on them because after all our steel deck machines cracked all the time due to sun, elements, condensation, gas spills?
      Imagine the gall to expect them not to crack 7-9 years in?
      The fact is you’ll find that it’s a great machine in a lot of ways, but you’ll use it, believe in it, sing its praises, buy official shop manuals and perform repair, buy carbs and rope pulls, give it its tlc believing it will be a 25-30 year machine, and then the deck will fracture well within 10 years. Now, it’s a disposable, maddening, otherwise running machine, and you’ll be jilted and have compounded aggravation, because the fracture itself being a fracture, Honda will deny warranty coverage. Has in fact already denied fractures before you bought the machine with a cute, buried exception clause in the “Lifetime Warranty”.

      Often times the front valve cover leaks because the sealant was not applied correctly. The front valve covers are single use only because when you try to remove them they bend very easily. RED ALERT. This recall is suspicious. I've had my HRN216 since June 2022. Best mower I've ever had. It has worked flawlessly. Have any of these mowers actually failed? Has anyone actually been hurt by one of these mowers? The recall information is confusing. My mower serial number is within the range of recalled serial numbers. The recall notice states that not all serial numbers in the affected range are actually affected. The notice also lists the GVC-170 Engine serial number ranges that are affected and mine is not one of them. I called Honda and they say that if my mower is in the affected range it must be repaired and would not delve into the engine serial numbers. I suspect the CPSC is participating in the federal government's war on gasoline powered mowers. Is this an insidious scheme to force a Honda out of the lawnmower business by recalling 400,000 mowers that might possibly maybe cause an injury? Honda's cost to fix the mower surely wipes out the profit margin and it might even be more than the purchase price.

    • @averagejoevideo9556
      @averagejoevideo9556  10 місяців тому

      I personally experienced the problem with my unit. (Check out the other videos on my channel.). With that being said, fortunately I did not get injured but some other comments in the earlier videos confirm that people were injured. It is my understanding that Honda only pays a flat rate to shops that repair the issue. I don’t know that I would say that they will lose all profit on the repair. The repair rates are not that lucrative and the part is not that expensive for Honda when it’s mass produced. Again…just my thoughts on the issue. Keep in mind that Honda already planned to exit the gas lawn mower business in the US as of this year. This was prior to any stop sale or recall.

      I’m a tech with a Deere dealer that sells Honda……..the recall involves running s/n in Honda data base and if it is suspect, performing inspection………it goes by date camshaft was manufactured….you have to to completely disassemble engine, removing piston cylinder and crankshaft, remove camshaft , flip camshaft over and decipher manufacturing date of camshaft….if before 07/23……replace camshaft…if after, just reassemble, kind of a time consuming project
