    Im on my 2nd F150 with 2.7 EB 2019 and now a 2024 both have been bulletproof. I can’t recommend the 2.7 enough the 24 is much more refined, it shifts much better, the tuning and drive modes are vastly improved, and they improved the exhaust note a bit on the new model. I always tell people that if you drive one without knowing what engine it is you would never guess the displacement because it’s so quick and pulls like a freight train.

      2.7 GM turbomax = 430 ft-lb torque @ 3,000 rpm's. Ford 2.7 ecoboost = 410 ft-lb torque @ 4250 rpm's. So higher torque @ lower rpm is worse? Doesn't compute.

    • @ews360

      The data I intially found was incorrect. This info was found on the Ford 2024 F-150 webpage states: 2.7 ecoboost = 2015-2016 375 ft-lb @ 3,000 rpm. 2018-2020 400 ft-lb @ 2,750 rpm. 2021+ 400 lb-ft @ 3,000 rpm. So, both GM & Ford make their max torque @ same 3,000 rpm. GM makes 30 ft-lb more torque than Ford. Torque, not horse is needed in towing. So, why does the Chevy (or GMC) "just does not pull as well" w/ 30 more ft-lb of torque? That does not compute.

    I've spent a lot of time on non towing, rural highway road trips with both trucks. Chevy MPG 18 on regular 19 on 93. Ford MPG 21 on regular or premium. Most of the time the Chevy's 4 cylinder noise does not intrude as it is quiet, smooth and unnoticed. But there are times when I wished for some other engine as it would vibrate in 2 cylinder mode at exactly 55mph, and sound like the 4 cylinder it is when pushed hard. The Ford feels and sounds refined in normal mode and like a well tuned sports car in 'sport' mode, very pleasant 100% of the time. Despite the very similar specs, the Ford is significantly faster and more powerful.

    • @tylerkraemer
      @tylerkraemer 6 днів тому

      Faster yes but more powerful? That’s somewhat debatable with the Chevy having more torque. 430 vs 400. I’d say that makes power kind of a wash in my opinion. I’ve driven neither truck though.

And I bet you defend all kinds of cheap things Ford does lately, like routing oil pump belts behind timing chains in the 2.7 EB and 5.0 Coyote. Or Ford using those garbage plastic oil pans. Or the warped dashes on 2015-18 F-150's because of the garbage plastic Ford was using. Or Ford using failure-prone EGR coolers on the 2.7 EB when they don't use one on the 3.5EB. Or Ford using plastic on their engine exhaust heat exchanger (w/ Powerboost engine option) so that it warps and creates a big coolant leak.

    I've owned an F150 lariat, Dodge SLT Hemi, and currently I own two Chevy's . The Chevy's are 1988 k1500 Silverado Regular cab and a 2014 Ltz crew cab 4*4. Ive always been partial to how Chevy's look on the outside and they are a much easier vehicle to fix yourself than a Ford. I liked the Dodge's driving characteristics the best. The throttle response was great but the interior and exterior fit and finish wasn't great. I will surprise a lot of whoever reads this by saying the F150 I drove had the 3v Triton motor that I was able to squeeze 368,000 miles on the original engine and transmission. I wanted to drive it until it blew up but I couldn't bring myself to drive it everyday as at the time I had just bought the 2014 Silverado so, 6 months of it being parked sitting idle did the trick for me. I am now looking to ditch the Chevy and go back to the Ford just because Chevy has lost a step with the engine performance, reliability, customer service, and build quality over Ford. My wife drives a 2023 Xt4 Cadillac and after about a year owning that car I can say it feels like a glorified Nissan Versa which we owned ten years ago. I had to do a lot of "adjustments" to the Chevy just to get it to feel like I'm driving a truck with a V8 and not some four cylinder out of a PT cruiser. I'll leave on that note.

    I don't like the look of the Silverado or the F-150. I bought a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation 2.7 Turbo. So the exterior of the Sierra blows the Chevy and the Ford out of the water. I got a loaner vehicle with about 3,000 miles on in for 18,000 off sticker so basically a 60k truck for 42k. Has the 22+ GM Premium interior so makes the comparison to the Ford a little closer. Still think the Ford a hair nicer but the GMC also nice. The 2.7 Ecoboost must be hella nice because driving a 2.7 and a 5.3 GMC back to back I preferred the 4 cylinder 2.7. If your going V8 you have to get the 6.2, which I didn't want to pay for nor is it even offered on the Elevation trim anyways. In conclusion, Ford IMO makes a better base level truck and a better King of the Road Truck (Raptor R) but in between I prefer the Chevy/GMC even though on a luxury level the Platinum is beating a High Country. The GM's just look better at the end of the day.

    No question, the Ford is much better. The 2.7 ecoboost is the most reliable one in the ecoboost line up, and the 10 speed is much more reliable and more efficient than the 8 speed in the chevy. These Chevy 2.7 fours also burn oil and sounds like a hummingbird fart ,and the gm 8 speed has had a LOT of issues. The only people who are buying these Chevys' are ones looking for the cheapest truck or blind brand loyalists who would buy a chevy even if it is a proven dumpster fire.
    Chevy COULD have had a much better option in a smaller displacement turbo 3.6 variant and the 10 speed but they chose what they did.

    GM's 2.7 is really meant to compete against Ford's 3.3 V6. That's why it replaced the 4.3 V6 that was previous the base engine in fleet trims. The 2.7 EB is a more powerful engine and will normally be cross-shopped with the 5.3. Even with the downsides of the oil pump belt behind the timing chains, plastic oil pan, and the EGR cooler, I would pick the 2.7 EB over the lower output GM 2.7T.
