    I have hypolordosis but this is the first time in about a year that I have actually seen a reference to it. Even my physio person didn't have a word for this inappropriate curve.. I was calling it my lower thoracic kyphosis! The back weakness now involves some osteoporosis but I have been doing this exact exercise (molding) just by instinct with small supports and building up a little at a time. Thank you so much for the details. Do you have a set of exercises that rebuild core in conjunction with this "fix"?
    (My problem originated with about 5 months of bed rest (and sitting up in bed with curved back) after a severe lower leg injury - prior to that I was a normal fit person. I am now spending more time fixing my back than my leg! Thanks!

      Glad it helped - here's some exercises that we put together for our patients. It has a low back focus, but that's a lot of core. Don't do any exercises that cause pain: www.corechiropractic.net/lowback1/

    Thanks for a truly excellent video. I was recently diagnosed with lumbar hypolordosis and have had chronic muscle tension in the lumbar and lower thoracic paraspinals now for about 5 years. This diagnosis finally makes sense given the symptoms I've had and many years of sitting at a computer. Beside the spine molding technique you showed, I'm also doing superman and cobra exercises to strengthen the back muscles. Also exercises to strengthen the psoas muscles. Beside these techniques, are there any other techniques you'd recommend for my now long term hypolordosis condition?
    Probably a hard question to answer, but do you have any advice on how many months of performing these techniques would be required to start to notice an improvement? (i.e. reduction in chronic tightness, stress in lumbar muscles). I've been going just under two months now with only relatively minor improvements so I'm hoping that if I continue these types of treatments for a longer period it might eventually pay off.

      It will definitely take awhile to make structural changes. The chiropractors that specialize in this type of change would have you in a traction device several times a week over a period of a year.

    A heated pillow helps me relieve the pain. Will you recommend doing this exercise with a heated roll as well?

      Heat's tricky. If your problem is disc related, the heat may end up feeling better at first, but may increase the inflammation.

    Hi there, is this as effective as 3 ppint traction therapy offered by a chiropractor trained in chiro practic biophysics? In South Africa we done have these chiropractors and Im asking if this will create permanent change to my lack of lordosis in lumbar spine. Is it proven? Chiropractic biohysics is really expensive! Thank you

      Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) is more intense than this for sure. I would guess that CBP would be much more specific and work faster. However, not everyone needs to go as intense to see a difference. No change is ever permanent. You can get everything straight and then resort to bad posture habits and the bad curve will return over time.

      Thank you for your reply. It seems that 3 point traction is permanent. However if one goes back into old postures hypolordosis might return. Im concerned that my lack of lumbar curve may be permanent and 'fixed'. Is there a way for me to clarify if this is the problem? I have had an hla b27 gene test to check for ankylosing spondylitis and I was negative and I have been checked by a rheumatologist who assured me there was no AS. I have had a straight lumbar spine since high school and Im now 39. This problem has made me vulnerable to herniated discs in lumbar spine and I have already done this! I have two herniated discs L5 4 and L5 S1. My lower back has loads of spasms to corest and protect my spine and has actually almost completely flattened the coccygeal curve and lumbar curve is reversed. Thoracic spine is flattened and cervical has become flattened as well. At wits end trying to find a cure for my problem and constant pain. :(:(

      Hard to give out specific advice without an exam. If you do have hypolordosis, this may be helpful. Don't keep doing it if your back hurts more.

    8 years of localized low back pain due to this. Tried everything and countless PTs. Nothing seems to relieve the pain except hamstrings stretch. Does that mean my hamstring is the culprit? Current PT says so along with priformis. Would love to have your insight

      Hard for me to make a diagnosis without examination. PT has seen you and sounds like something that makes sense.

    what would you recommend for straight back syndrome? flattening of the thoracic spine? i have been told that I should focus more on getting thoracic spine shape first and then work on getting lumbar curve back. basically I have anextremely flat spine and its a nightmare

      I would think neck and low back curves would be more important. If you have way too much thoracic curve, work on stretching chest muscles too

    Can we do this in bed while sleeping?

    • @COREChiropracticHouston
      @COREChiropracticHouston  4 роки тому +1

      It's better on a firmer surface, but it can still be mildly helpful on your bed. Better to do it on the floor, if possible.
