Day Trip to Temple 🚂 (FULL EPISODE) S14 E13

- Опубліковано 8 лют 2025
- Temple sits right in the heart of Central Texas and is redefining the definition of a "railroad town." We learn all about the history in the old Santa Fe Depot that's now the Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum. We eat one of the biggest chicken-fried steaks in Texas at Old Jody's Restaurant. We make fresh kolaches at the Kolache Kitchen. We do some shooting sports at Weber's Range. We hike through Miller Springs Park. And finally we finish it up with fresh pie from Treno Pizza that's leading the charge on downtown renovation.

Never thought I’d see Temple in a video like this 😂
I'll never go to Temple without a stop at Old Jody's.
Unless you're there on a Sunday.
It’s the best
I have lived in temple my whole life and its so cool to see the things i grew up with and are so normal to me being appreciated by someone new.
how far away from Austin is Temple? I was thinking of taking a job opportunity in Temple but wanted to be close to Austin.
@@waveTV_ a little over an hour drive I think
@@waveTV_ 68 miles
@@waveTV_45 mins
I also love this video because no one really does stuff about Temple or talk about Temple so I'm glad you actually came to visit Temple
I don't care if I am from Temple...this really was the best episode ever!!! So glad you guys came for a visit! Come back anytime!!! (...and did you try the Jody's onion rings???)
There are no better people in Temple than Jacob Bates. If y'all haven't been by the pizzeria, you need to. Just great, great pizza...owned by people who are truly the best.
I actually live in Temple since I was born still live here we used to go to the new Jody's when i was little until they close it down but we still go to the other Jody's God bless y'all I hope you liked our little town
Chet: it was great to see the nieces and nephews in the show! ❤Temple is really worth visiting, as you did a great job covering the highlights. Love being a newbie texan (one year in). I am really putting on the miles checking out the places you show me. Bumper sticker/ “ I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could” fits me. Though not entirely truthful, as it took 70 years.!🤣.
The best Person to represent Texas my hat is off to you make every show with lots of fun added were in the Hill country and retired road trip's are in our future thanks 👍
Hope you enjoyed your trip to Temple. We'd love to have ya back.
Moving to Temple soon from PA. Now I'm excited!
Awesome video. I’ve driven through Temple and near Temple but I never stopped and explored. It’s a beautiful area. I think I’m going to take another road trip soon.
Guess I'm going to Temple now!
🇸🇴🇵🇱
Nothing there, you aren't missing out
I’ve known Joey and Glenda my entire life. Great people and great food.
If you hit Kolache Kitchen and keep heading east, you can have a great food experience... There's Oscar Store, Green's Sausage Hawse, Westphalia Market, TX Burger in Cameron... Pretty good list of options.... The parks in the Temple area are awesome, too...
Hi Chet very big fan of your show I'm really glad you did Temple however I want to let you know after filming the Temple episode on may 22nd 2024 this year a EF2 tornado touched down here straight line wind gusts 90-115 Mph as well as large hail and the area power was for some people for week or more Temple area is still recovering from that event especially in the hardest hit area west Adams Ave. Thanks big fan
My hometown. Jodys has survived a long time, while other classics have long been gone. Charcaol, Chuclwagon, Veterans Cafe, Bluebonnet Cafe and many more have long been gone.
Temple will always hold a special place in my heart. That whole area is my Dad's side of the family which means everything to me. Go up the road a bit and there is Little River Academy where a huge part of my ancestors are buried. Very special place :) Thanks Chet!
All my ancestors are from Little River & I was raised out there.

I just moved away from good ol temple town....I miss it...and I saw my old house on the drone footage!!! The frog legs at old Jody's are amazing!!!!
I moved away 14 months ago and I'm trying to go back
@soviethammer I don't blame you
I watched your visit to El Paso, Texas and just saw you had one for Temple! I grew up Temple and Belton Texas and nice to know the history where I grew up! Now I reside in EP but I have been finding out a lot of history through your channel I did not know! I absolutely love it!
Temple Strong!!
How do you do a Temple episode and include Belton and Troy?
Also, how does anyone not go to bill’s grill?
I’m old enough to remember the coffee shop and VHS rental store where the Czech heritage museum is.
They have an episode dedicated to belton
@@Jonathan-uc7do EXACTLY! Let Temple have its own episode, we got cool stuff. It’s just not in the heart of the down town. I mean we have some cool old original stuff left in down town, NOT MUCH, because their “rejuvenation” of down town. We used to have a cool down town, cool enough for a little city like Temple, anyways.
Czech museum is great, a must stop in Temple
superb done,💫
Lots to see and do.
I live in Austin and took Amtrak to Belton for a day trip. Had a good time but didn't get to do as much as Chet. Need to go back!
Loving these. Yall need to check out hemphill Texas area .
HEMPHILL?? There's nothing there but dirty water , lots of mosquitos, & Koa campgrounds, & gators..😮
@@streetsmartintelligent We got gators here in Temple. I've floated the Leon and seen gator hooks 9 inches long hanging from trees. Stillhouse Hollow is loaded with gators.
@@streetsmartintelligenttemple is no better
@@Juggernaut-fg2up I wasnt comparing Hemphill to Temple? I just stated we have gators here also.
@@streetsmartintelligent 🤣
you should go to northeast bexar county !! out by live oak and selma !! and there's also windcrest on the way .windcrest is best at christmas time for the lights .
how did u have room for chicken fry and pizza, that chicken fry would have done me in for the day
Hubby works on the RR there in Temple.
Should’ve mentioned Meredith Dunbar school, the old segregated high school where HOF Pittsburgh steeler mean Joe green played.
Ahhhhh... Yes... The good ol days when common sense segregation was the norm. Sure miss those days when America was great and crime was low.
really bueno season, y’all…
WILDCAT NATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to my city
13:06 looking good.
Jody's is classic
Mary's in Strawn is bigger but any home made CFS is simply deelish!!!!
And I thought Oscar Store chicken fried was good. Have to try Old Jody’s now.
Did kolache Kitchen close?
Question from my hubby. What boots are you wearing😂. He says he likes them lol. He always wear thorogood boots.
They look like those sold by most gay shoe stores.
So let’s see, kolaches, an xl chicken fried steak, beer, and pizza in a daytrip! How do you not weigh 3 bills?!!😂
webers is in my good old town troy Texas
I live here
Koláč singular; koláče plural!
My Brother made those arrowheads.
Hope you didnt park wrong at Miller Springs lol
I need 10 seconds to tell everyone something Good!
I care about yall as people, and tell you that
The scriptures tell us that Jesus Christ died for people's sins!
Whoever will have their faith in Him, that through Him, they'll be pardoned from the Judgement of their Sins by God, will be pardoned, and will be saved! Amen and good day 😊
Luckily there are 147 churches in Temple!
First view!!
My in-laws live in the Belton / Temple area out by Lake Belton. Temple is a dump.
I see what is wrong with Chet, he shoots left handed.
Belton has more character. Historic downtown.
Italiano's is so much better than Treno's....
Jody’s is definitely overrated
I call it pimple. Nasty town with no shopping or any entertainment.
Wow! Start it up, and first thing I see is my apartment complex where I live!
